Frank E. Tiernan, 77, of Lodi, Calif., died Nov. 12 at a local hospital. He was born Jan. 21, 1925, in Sanger, California. On June 20, 1948, he married Marjorie J. Moore in Berkeley, Calif. Survivors include two sons, Dean E. Tiernan of Dublin, Calif., and Dale K. Covey of Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Jo Ann L. Hewitt of Lodi; a brother, Rod E. Tiernan of Delphos; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Mr. Tiernan was a retired probation officer of the Alameda County Probation Department. He served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service from 1942 to 1946. He was a radioman aboard the USS Billfish in the Pacific Fleet. He enjoyed playing the piano and painting. He was known as the piano man for his frequent performances. A private memorial service will be held, at his home in Lodi. Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.

Alice L. Fortman, 81, of Ottawa, died 5:40 a.m. Saturday at her residence. She was born March 8, 1921, in Ottoville, to Alex and Bertha (Flanagan) Odenweller. On Nov., 27, 1943, she married Elmer Fortman, who survives in Ottawa. Other survivors include two sons Tim (Linda) Fortman of Ottawa and Robert (Nancy) Fortman of Beavercreek; three daughters, Marsha (Roger) Lammers of Ottawa, Barbara (Keith) Hall of Dayton and Mary Jo (Dan) Bockrath of Glandorf; two brothers, Eugene Odenweller of Ottoville and James Odenweller of Ottawa; and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Odenweller; and two sisters, Kathleen Koehl and Irene Ricker. Mrs. Fortman was a homemaker and a former registered nurse at Westinghouse. She was a graduate of St. Rita’s School of Nursing. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. She enjoyed playing bridge and euchre in various card clubs. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, the Rev. Tom Hemm officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Carl E. Cook, 77, of Convoy, died 8:15 p.m. Thursday at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Greenville, Penn., to Lewis and Mae (Decker) Cook. He had been married to Colleen Elston, who survives in Decatur, Ind. Other survivors include two sons, Darl Cook and Mark (Gwen) Cook of Convoy; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlos and Harold Cook; and a sister, Mabel Stemen. Mr. Cook had worked in maintenance for 20 years at Van Wert County Hospital and was a lifetime farmer, retiring in 1999. He had currently been working as a security guard at Robert T. Mone Power Plant in Convoy. He was a member of Convoy United Methodist Church and the Van Wert American Legion. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a Five Star Battle Winner. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Gearhart, Mack and Jurczyk Funeral Home, Convoy, the Rev. Greg Leigh officiating. Burial will be in Convoy I.O.O.F. Donna J. Marsh, 74, of Lima, died Thursday at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 16, 1928 in Lima, to Harry and Twylah (Draesky) Sanner. On Aug. 17, 2001 she married Claude Marsh, who survives. Other survivors include a son, Marty (Darlene) Stephens of Lima; a brother, Ronald (Barbara) Sanner of Elida; two sisters, Marleen (Duayne) Campbell, and Barbara (Dick) Miller of Wapakoneta; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Floyd L. Hile, 67, of Napoleon, died Friday at Country View Haven, Napoleon. He was born Aug. 29, 1935 in Spencerville, to Floyd and Margaret (Wilkerson) (Haver) Hile. On Jan. 6, 1968 he married Diana Maas, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Chris Hile of Defiance, and Scott Hile of Gilead; two daughters, Dawn Lynch of Columbus, and Holly Hile of Defiance; three brothers, Richard Hile of St. Marys, Orval Hile of Delphos, and Dennis Hile of Lima; four sisters, Carolyn Stocklin, Shirley Diltz and Becky Auer of Delphos, and Frances Lowe of Van Wert; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Wayne Hile. He worked at Campbell Soup Company, Napoleon for 30 years before retiring in 1997. He attended the First Baptist Church of Napoleon. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Welker Mortuary, Napoleon, the Rev. Tom Walters officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Richard Groves, 88, of Delphos, died 12:25 p.m. Friday at Auglaize Acres in Wapakoneta. He was born Oct. 8, 1914 in Delphos, to Henry and Julia (Carder) Groves. He was survived by a foster son, Greg Collins; three nephews, Jim, Ron and Gary Becker; and two nieces, Phyllis (Ralph) Kaeck and Donna (Roger) Whetstone. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice (Groves) Becker. He retired from Delphos Can Company. He was an avid sports enthusiast and participated in Delphos bowling leagues. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Donald E. Smith, 77, of Convoy, formerly of Van Wert, died 7:05 a.m. Thursday at Convoy Care Center. He was born Oct. 15, 1925 in Cleveland, to Elmer and Della Pauline (Abel) Smith. On Oct. 18, 1946, he married Annabell McNeal, who survives. Survivors also include two sons, Jerry (Sandy) Smith and Neil Smith of Convoy; a daughter, Sheryl Height of Convoy; a brother, Alvin (Betty) Smith of Reynoldsburg; a sister, Marian Stanley of Bellefontaine; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Focht and Jocele Tussing; and a son-in-law, Jack Height. Mr. Smith had been a cable splicer with United Telephone for 38 years. He was affiliated with Trinity Friends Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an active member of American Legion Post 178 and 40 et 8. Grace Marie Wilkerson, 72, of rural Spencerville, died 7:10 p.m. Wednesday at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She was born Nov. 29, 1929, in Logan Township, Auglaize County, to William S. and Martha K. (Seibert) Alspaugh. Following her father’s death, she was raised by Wilson and Armedia "Mimi" Alspaugh. In 1950, she married Leroy Dorsten, who preceded her in death. In 1953, she married Roger Lybarger who died in 1957. She then married Olan O. "Bill" Wilkerson, who survives. Other survivors include three sons, Wilson J. "Joe" (Treda) Dorsten and George B. (Sandy) Lybarger of Spencerville and Eugene S. (Diane) Wilkerson of Ada; two sisters, Helen (Bill) Hittle and Bertha May Ehrnsberger of Lima; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William L. "Bill" Wilkerson; and a grandson, Aaron Wilkerson. Mrs. Wilkerson was seamstress and enjoyed working with her family genealogy. She was a member of Bethlehem Christian Union Church, near Buckland, and was a charter member of Harvest Baptist Church in Wapakoneta. She was a 1948 graduate of Spencerville High School and a life member of the Bowersock Bros. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772 Auxiliary in Spencerville and a member of Eagles Aerie 691 Auxiliary in Wapakoneta. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Thomas E. Arnold Strayer, 86, of Delphos, died 9 p.m. Wednesday at Vancrest Health Care Center. He was born March 30, 1916, in Allen County to Ross and Jesse (John) Strayer. Survivors include a sister, Dortha Unland of Delphos; a brother, Lyle Strayer of Lima; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, LaVern, Griffith, Harold, Russel and Robert Strayer; and two sisters, Madella Strayer and Avonella Wilson. Mr. Strayer worked at Ralph’s Restaurant in Elida for many years. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Nicholas J. Mollenkopf, 18, of Convoy, died late Sunday afternoon on Lincoln Highway in Van Wert. He was born Dec. 15, 1983 in Van Wert, to Richard L. "Rick" and Cynthia L. (Breece) Mollenkopf, who survive in Convoy. Survivors also include a brother, J.R. (Becki) Mollenkopf of Convoy; a sister, Michelle Mollenkopf of Convoy; paternal grandparents Grace and Bert Edwards of Grover Hill; maternal grandmother, Eleanor Breece of Van Wert; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Doyt Breece and Stanley Mollenkopf. Mr. Mollenkopf was employed at Quick Change in Van Wert. He was a student at the University of Northwestern Ohio and a 2002

Don E. Pollock, 48, of Nevada, Mo., formerly of Van Wert County, died Nov. 20, in Asbury, Mo. He was born Aug. 19, 1954, in Van Wert County, to John Dale and Pearl (Winans) Pollock. On Feb. 24, 1973, he married Cathy L. Siler, who survives. Other survivors include three children, Brian and Josh Pollock at home, and Danielle Pollock of Columbia, Mo.; three brothers, Gary (Loretta) Pollock of Glencoe, Minn., John (Janie) Pollock of Ottawa, Kan., and Robert M. Pollock of Bronx, N.Y.; a twin sister, Debra (Robert) Delano of Charlotte, N.C.; two nephews and four nieces. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Jason McMichael. Mr. Pollock was employed at 3M as an advanced technologist and training coordinator. He was a two time 3M Eagles Award winner and also received the Pyramid of Excellence Award. He attended the Presbyterian Church and was a former pack master and troop leader for the Boy and Girl Scouts of America. He was a 1972 graduate of Spencerville High School and was Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid NASCAR and race car enthusiast. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. today at the Presbyterian Church, Nevada, the Rev. Greg Ferree officiating. Arrangements were by Evergreen Memorial Chapel, P.O. Box 894, Nevada, Mo., 64772. Brian A. Motter, 27, of Lima, died 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born July 17, 1975, in Lima to Alan and Jarilyn (Stoll) Motter, who survive. Survivors also include three sisters, Karen (Brian) Lecurgo of Elida, Mary (Joe) Jones of Lima and Deborah (David) Steele of Lewisville, Texas; paternal grandmother, Louise Motter of Cridersville; maternal grandparents, Calvin and Audre Crouse of Ada; and two nephews, Kody Lecurgo and Keegan Jones. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Venard W. Motter; and niece, Amber Lecurgo. Dillon "Puny" Clay Jr., 80, of Lima, died 1 p.m. Monday at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born Oct. 16, 1922, in Lima to Dillon and Helen (Garrett) Clay Sr. He had been married to Josephine E. Mullenhour, who preceded him in death June 30, 2002
. Survivors include a son, Kevin Clay of Lima; a brother, William (Cleo) Clay of Port Richie, Fla.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Clay; and a sister, Mary Klinefelter. Mr. Clay had worked at Teledyne Ohio Steel as an electrician, retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Lima, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 96, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and Elks Lodge 54 in Lima. Alfred G. "Phil" Germann, 75, of Van Wert, died Sunday afternoon from injuries sustained during the tornado. He was born Sept. 23, 1927, to Russell and Lucille (Busch) Germann. On July 31, 1949, he married Judith Putt, who survives. Survivors also include two sons, Timothy (Lisa) Germann of Milan, Mich., and Jerry Germann of Convoy; a brother, Leroy (Eileen) Germann of Van Wert; and two grandchildren, Julie Johns and Shelley Germann. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Germann. Mr. Germann retired from Aeroquip Corp., Van Wert, in 1989 after 30 years. He was a member of Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m.. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Alfred Anthony Sharr, 79, of Lima, died 1:50 a.m. Sunday at his residence. He was born June 13, 1923 in Cleveland, to Fedele A. and Anna (Monda) Sharr. He had been married to Eileen B. Sharr, who died March 19, 1997. On Aug. 12, 1997, he married Dolores Kidd Wright, who survives. Survivors also include two daughters, Lynn (Robert) Hammock of Hillsboro and Leanne (Jeffrey) Fee of Lima; three stepsons, Hal Wright of Lima, Todd (Mary) Wright of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mark (Sheila) Wright of Delphos; 17 grandchildren, Nick Mox and Curtis and Justin Wright of Delphos, Patrick, Andrew and David Wright of Knoxville, Tenn., Jessica and Shane Fee of Elida, Jeremy Johnson and Vanessa Sherrick of Lima, Jill Hammock of Hillsboro, Samuel (Stacy) Dobbs III of Pearland, Texas, Michael (Kimberly) Dobbs of Nashville, Tenn., and Jodi (Chad) Hayda, Greg Hammock, Robert Hammock and Nicole White of Dayton; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alex Sharr; and grandchild, Thomas Hammock. Mr. Wright retired from Ford Motor Company in 1980 and also as an American Township Constable in 1964. He was a World War II veteran serving with the Army Air Corp. He was a member of the Elida Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, the Ottawa American Legion, AMVETS, Masonic Lodge-Garret Wykoff 585 & AM and Eagles Aerie 370. He loved gardening, yard work and animals. Carl E. Nihiser, 76, of Van Wert, died 5:45 p.m. Friday at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born Jan. 28, 1926 in Van Wert, to Daniel P. and Ruby E. (Harvey) Nihiser. On May 20, 1951, he married Phyllis O. Schaadt, who survives in Van Wert. Other survivors include a son, Danny K. Nihiser of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Lynn Nihiser; a brother, Gradon "Jake" Nihiser; and a half-brother, Arthur Nihiser. Mr. Nihiser had worked in sales for the Toledo Turf Co., and then was co-owner of the Oaks Gulf Club near Lima for 15 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a life member and past exalted ruler of the Van Wert Elks Lodge 1197, member of the Golf Course Superintendents of America, and the Wapakoneta Eagles Lodge. Robert E. Kesler, 88, of Lima, died 12:15 p.m. Saturday at Lima Manor Nursing Home. He was born Feb. 27, 1914 in Lima, to Harley Wade and Alta Faye (Bodell) Kesler. On Sept. 8, 1962, he married Neva N. Magher, who died June 6, 2001. Survivors include two sons, David (Sydell) Kesler of Lakewood and Steven (Joyce) Kesler of Elida; a daughter, Susan (Ted) Eagleston of Cumberland, Ind.; two brothers, Dr. Donald Kesler of Lady Lake, Fla., and Richard E. (Joan) Baxter of Waynesfield; and seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Mr. Kesler had retired from Steel’s Automotive and had worked at Sifred Hossellman Company and Bearings Inc., of Lima. He was a member of Lima Baptist Temple Church, Lima, where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Heritage Sunday School class. He was a graduate of Lima Central High School and Northwestern School of Commerce. Patricia A. "Pat" Alt, 66, of Columbus Grove, died 6:15 a.m. Saturday at her residence near Columbus Grove. She was born Dec. 8, 1935 in Ottawa, to Henry W. and Mary (Kottenbrock) Kleman. On Aug. 12, 1967, she married William J. Alt, who survives in Columbus Grove. Other survivors include three sons, Doug (Tiffany) Alt of Columbus Grove, and Dean (Lois) Alt and Dennis Alt of New Bremen; a daughter, Debra Alt of Toledo; two sisters, Barbara (Don) Orians of Augusta, Ga., and Connie (Paul) Best of Columbus Grove; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Kleman. Mrs. Alt had been a teacher in Phoenix, Ariz., Fort Wayne, Russia, Kalida and Ottawa. She retired in 1996 after 27 years. After her retirement, she was a substitute teacher at Columbus Grove High School and tutored for the proficiency testing. She was a graduate of the University of Dayton with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was a member of St. Anthony Church, Columbus Grove, and its Altar Rosary Society and was a lector and communion server. She was also a member of Catholic Ladies of Columbia, where she had served as president; and the American Legion Auxiliary of Columbus Grove. She loved to cook and prepared and managed many senior citizen banquets and athletic banquets of the Columbus Grove High School. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Rev. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Owen J. Tumblin, 71, of Grover Hill, died 2 p.m. Friday at his residence. He was born March 31, 1931, in Paulding County to Jesse and Golda (Stewart) Tumblin. He married Bonnie Harter, who preceded him in death. On July 30, 1960, he married Evelyn Hill, who survives. Goodrich at Woodburn, Ind., for 32 years and was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Middle Creek United Methodist Church, Grover Hill, and was president of the Black Swamp CB Club in Grover Hill for many years. Ella Marie Jacomet, 89, of Delphos, died 2:25 p.m. Friday at the Medical College Hospital in Toledo. She was born June 14, 1913, in Allen County to Oscar and Nora (Miller) Butler. In 1932, she married Donald G. Jacomet, who died in February 1971. Survivors include a son, Ronald Jacomet of Delphos; a step-daughter, Patricia Jacomet of St. Marys; a sister, Eileen (Walter) Byrne of Delphos; very close friend Garnet Ricker; and seven grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Jacomet Jr.; four brothers, Gary, Elbert, Lloyd and Paul Butler; and two sisters, Goldie Nottingham and Mildred Clinger. Mrs. Jacomet was a homemaker. Letha Pauline Thomas, 95, of Lima, died 12:15 p.m. Thursday at LochHaven Apartments, Lima. She was born July 18, 1907, in Champaign County, Ill., to Newton Clyde and Ida Mae (Stroh) Hays. On Aug. 27, 1938, she married John R. Thomas, who died July 10, 1999. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Judy Thomas; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Hays Thomas; a daughter, Jane Marie Goldberger; a brother, Loyal Hays; and three sisters, Bonnie Shisler, Carrie Blair and Lola Hamilton. Mrs. Thomas has worked at Thomas Communion Service with her husband. She was a member of West Elm United Church of Christ and its Willing Workers, the Diletante Club, the YWCA and volunteered at The Corner Cupboard. Jeanne A. Wannemacher, 95, of Ottoville, died 5:52 p.m. Thursday at Vancrest Health Care Center, Delphos. She was born Feb. 2, 1907, in Dover, N.H., to Lee and Grace (Walker) Aseltine. On July 22, 1929, she married Robert M. Wannemacher, who died Nov. 15, 1980. Survivors include a son, Don (Rita) Wannemacher of Landeck; a daughter, Dollie (Ernest) Wolke of Delphos; five grandchildren, Debbie (Tom) Buettner, Gary (Teresa) Wolke, Don (Donna) Wolke, Dan (Linda) Wannemacher and Dave (Connie) Wannemacher; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers. Mrs. Wannemacher was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Altar Rosary Society. She converted to Catholicism in 1948 and was the oldest member of the parish. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rev. Daniel R. Wurst, 59, of Indianapolis, formerly of Delphos, died Tuesday at his residence. He was born July 25, 1943, in Delphos, to Julian F. and Leona (Brokamp) Wurst. His father survives in Dayton. Survivors also include two sons, Jeffery (Kelly) Wurst of Indianapolis and Dr. Matthew Wurst of Charlottesville, N.C.; three daughters, Jennifer Wurst of North Carolina and Lauri and Krista Wurst of Dayton; a brother, Jerome (Debra) Wurst of Englewood; three sisters, Diane (Charles) Rost of Huber Heights, Mary Hawkes of Webster, N.Y., and Rita (Tom) Carle of Miamisburg; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and grandchildren in the Delphos area. Mr. Wurst was an industrial artist and a St. John’s High School graduate. Services will be 2 p.m. in Indianapolis.

Mary C. Greve, 72, of Ottawa, died 4:45 a.m. Thursday at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She was born May 7, 1930 in Delphos, to Joseph and Lucille (Gremlin) Freund. On June 7, 1950, she married Wilbur W. Greve, who survives. Other survivors include four sons, Robert Greve of New Bavaria, Ronald Greve and Thomas (Nancy) Greve of Ottawa and Daniel (June) Greve of Columbus Grove; three daughters, Shirley (Ron) Busch and Mark Kay (Norbert) Siefer of Ottawa and Rebecca (Richard) Eickholt of Ottoville; a sister, Virgleen (Leonard) Hilvers of Ottoville; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, William and John Greve; three brothers, Norbert, Nelson and Donald Freund; and a sister, Oneida Freund. Mrs. Greve retired from the Ottawa Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, and its Altar Rosary Society. Linda Carroll Siefker, 57, of Delphos, died 4:32 a.m. Thursday at SCCI Hospital in Lima. She was born March 29, 1945 in Lima, to Ralph F. and Betty Louise (Mort) Lammers. Her mother survives in Lima. She married Lloyd Ray Wreede on Nov. 9, 1963 and they divorced. On July 31, 1970, she married Bruce Hennon and they divorced. On Sept. 24, 1988, she married Gerald J. Siefker, who survives in Delphos. Survivors also include two sons, Lloyd Ray (Jackie) Wreede of Polk City, Fla., and Daniel Lee (Rachel) Hennon of Spencerville; three stepsons, Michael Siefker of Delphos, Jerry J. Siefker Jr. of Van Wert and William J. Siefker of Oakwood; two daughters, Elizabeth (Joe) Baker and Carla (James) Baker of Delphos; a stepdaughter, Lori (Mark) Ditto of Oakwood; a brother, Ralph A. (Marcia) Lammers of Pandora; a sister, Donna J. (Tom) Long of Cairo, Ga.; and 17 grandchildren. Mrs. Siefker worked at Mont-gomery Ward for 14 years then 20th Century Lanes for 10 years and Teleflex for seven years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471 auxiliary. She was a 1963 graduate of Elida High School. On April 23, 1938, she married Stanley E. Taylor, who died Sept. 6, 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Al) Thompson of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Joseph (Janet) Carr of Lima and Thomas (Betty Rose) Carr of Huntsville; two sisters, Annie De Curtins and Darleen Schwaiger of Lima; a brother-in-law, Ed Schaffter; several nieces and nephews; and two grandsons and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Violet Ream, Thelma Korsen and Mildred Schaffter; and one brother, William Carr. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mark Methodist Church, Elks BPOE 54 of Lima, and the Wapakoneta Eagles Auxiliary. She liked to sew, bowl and do yard work. She married Marvin J. Mumper, who survives in Convoy. Cross, who died Nov. 14, 1997. Survivors include three sons, David (Marlene) Cross, Steven (Deborah) Cross and Jeffery (Candace) Cross of Delphos; two daughters, Carol Cross and Nancy (Michael) Elling of Delphos; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by foster parents Anna and William Ashbaugh; two brothers, Harold and William Baird; and two sisters, her twin, Marjorie Warnecke and Meriam Baird. Mrs. Cross had worked at Huffy and then K-P Industries in Delphos. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Steven G. "Steve" Magrum, 53, of Cairo, died 5:27 a.m. Monday at his residence. He was born Sept. 14, 1949 in Kenton, to Mark and Gladys (Perrine) Magrum. His mother survives in Lima. On Dec. 13, 1976, he married Rebecca K. "Becky" Jones, who survives in Cairo. Other survivors include two sons, Gregory (Sheila) Magrum of Colbert, Ga., and Jeremie S. (Jennifer) Magrum of Lima; two daughters, Carolyn Keller of Athens, Ga., and Tracy L. Dyer of Lima; two brothers, Christopher Magrum of Hamilton and Colby Magrum of Lima; a sister, Terry (Jack) Abdel-Nabi of Queens, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Magrum. Mr. Magrum was employed at Tower Automotive in Bluffton. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, Lima, and had attended Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Bluffton. He enjoyed fishing, going to auctions, collecting antiques, hunting, bowling and family outings. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, the Rev. Samuel E. Hammond, 63, of Van Wert, died 5:15 p.m. Friday at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born March 25, 1939 in Paulding, to Lawrence Curt and Edith (Hertle) Hammond. On Oct. 27, 1974, he married Gloria J. Baxter, who survives in Van Wert. Other survivors include a son, Brian E. Hammond of Van Wert; a daughter, Robin R. (John) Thomas of Van Wert; two brothers, Orville (Judy) Hammond of Van Wert and Albert Jim (Treva) Hammond of Convoy; and a sister, Mary (John) Pissarro of Van Wert. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jean and Zelma Hammond. Mr. Hammond retired from the former Halls Wastepaper Company of Van Wert. Clela D. Ketner Stoepfel, 91, of Van Wert, died 6:39 a.m. Saturday at Lincolnway Home, Van Wert County. She was born July 6, 1911, in Rockford to Adam and Maude (Oliver) Alt. She married Chet Ketner, who died in 1988. She them married Cletus F. Stoepfel, who survives at Lincolnway Home. Survivors also include a daughter, Viola (William) Hofacker of Scott; a stepson, Cletus D. (Ruth) Stoepfel of Celina; a stepdaughter, Shirley Jean (Ed) Kline of Deshler; a brother, Adrian (Norma) Alt of Richburg, S.C.; a sister, Gloria (Everet) Hanefeld of Continental; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Orville, Lorin and Bevan Alt; and three sisters, Mabel Dickey, Ada Alt and Treva Yoh. Mrs. Stoepfel had worked at Reynolds and Reynolds, A&P Supermarket, Kroger Supermarket and Charlie’s Bakery in Celina. She attended United Brethren in Christ Church in Rockford and was a former member of the Rebecca Lodge in Oakwood. Don Muter, 61, of Venedocia, died 3:22 p.m. Friday at his residence. He was born Dec. 10, 1940 in Elgin, to Ashley E. Muter and Mable (Goodwin) Muter. His fiancée, Debbie Fair, survives in Middle Point. Survivors include Carol Place of Van Wert; three sisters, Jane (Virgil) Martin of Antwerp, Sue Mohr of Convoy, and Edna (Mike) Semer of Glenmore; and Kevin, Scott and Ryan Fair, who were very important to him. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Muter and a brother-in-law Dave Mohr. Muter worked at Clark Equipment in Lima for 17 years, the Ohio Department of Transportation for 22 years and refurbished Corvettes. He was a member of the Army National Guard. He was a member of Salem United Presbyterian Church, Venedocia; a 25-year member of Masonic Mendon and Venedocia Lions Club. Funeral services were 11 a.m. today at Salem United Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Wendy Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery with military rights conducted by the Spencerville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. Memorial contributions can be made to the church, Gideons or Hospice.

Daniel Maag, 73, of Columbus Grove, died 6:15 a.m. Friday at his residence. He was born Dec. 25, 1928, in Kalida to Ben L. and Philomena "Minnie" (Feltman) Maag. On April 25, 1953, he married Jennie Hoehn, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Rick (Lisa) Maag of Columbus Grove and Roger (Darlene) Maag of Ottawa; three daughters, Cathy Maag of Columbus Grove, Dianne (Greg) Siefker of Ottawa and Laurie (Gordon) Perry of Tempe, Ariz.; six brothers, Harold Maag, Carl (Rita) Maag, Urban (Rosemary) Maag, Eugene (Shirley) Maag and LeRoy (Karen) Maag of Columbus Grove and Dennis (Rita) Maag of Kalida; four sisters, Evelyn Wannemacher of Ottoville, Catherine Deters of Leipsic, Mildred (Wilbur) Roof of Columbus Grove and Marcia (James) Kuhlman of Ottawa; a sister-in-law, Viola Maag of Ottawa; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Omer Maag. Mr. Maag retired from Scotlad in Lima where he was an order picker. He had been the previous owner of the West End Tavern in Columbus Grove. He also worked part time for Harlan’s Chicken in Pandora. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, and its Holy Name Society. He was an avid sports fan.
