Pansy L. Walker
Mrs. Pansy L. Walker, 70, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Middletown, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Fort Sanders Park West Hospital. She was born on May 3, 1930, in Athens, Ill., the daughter of Alfred andMargaret Jones. She had lived in Tennessee for two years. Mrs. Walker was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church in Middletown and was a 50-year member of Prosser Chapter #367 Order of Eastern Star of Middletown. She was also a member of the local Welcome Wagon and Newcomers Club. She was a homemaker and avid gardener. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Brossee Jones, Eric "Buck" Jones and Cleo Jones. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Budd H. Walker of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters Helen G. Nations and Loris "Dolly" Jones, both of Middletown; brothers Alfred T. Jones of Middletown, Robert "Tom" Jones of Monroe, Ohio, and Joseph H. Jones of Fort Myers, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home in Middletown, with the Rev. Lary Messick officiating. Visitation is today, Dec. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home where Order of Eastern Star services will be held at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.

Nancy J. Weybright
Mrs. Nancy Jean Weybright, 67, of Monroe, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at her residence. She was born on July 5, 1933, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Roy E. Ellis and Marguerite (Smith) Ellis. Mrs. Weybright was a member of the Monroe Nazarene Church. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, James Allen Weybright; a daughter, Julie Lynn Weybright of Hamilton; a son, Russell A. (wife Cynthia) Weybright of Wexford, Pa.; two grandchildren, Brett A. Weybright and Rebecca G. Weybright; a sister, Mary Jane Mullen of Centerville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack L. Ellis in 1997.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gary Jones officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at the North Monroe Cemetery.

Beth Ann Williams
Beth Ann Williams, 36, of Middletown, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, as a result of a traffic accident. Mrs. Williams was a veterinary assistant, working for Mark J. Judy, DVM. She is survived by her husband, Jerry M. Williams of Middletown; a son, Matthew, at home; parents John C. and Carol (Kesling) Coffman of Germantown; and a brother, John C. Coffman.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 201 W. Market St., Germantown, with the Rev. Roger Green officiating. Mabel Bicknell
Mrs. Mabel Bicknell, 94, formerly of 3867 Pennyroyal Road, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Willow Knoll Nursing Home in Middletown. She was born on Oct. 8, 1906, in Red Lion, Ohio, the daughter of Emmett and Elizabeth (Montgomery) Bishop. Mrs. Bicknell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Franklin and the Pollyanna Class. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hiram "Doc" Bicknell in 1988; brothers Howard, Ralph and Henry Bishop; and a sister, Stella Bishop. She is survived by her son, David Bicknell of Franklin; daughters Grace Robinson of Middletown, Betty Brewer of Franklin and Marilyn Shade of Dayton; a sister, Dorothy Tewell; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Russell Brown
Russell Brown, 98, of Gratis, Ohio, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, in Sycamore Hospital in Dayton. He was born in Gratis on Dec. 11, 1902, to Arthur and Flossie (Flatter) Brown. He was the former owner of Brown Trucking Co. He is survived by his son, Jack Brown, of West Alexandria; sister-in-law, Kate Brown, of Eaton; and two grandsons, Terry Brown of Eaton, and Mickey Brown of Kettering. He was preceded in death by his wife, G. Louise Brown; and a brother, H. Ralph Brown.

Mrs. Anne E. Browning, 55, of 505 Dorset Drive, died Monday morning, Dec. 18, 2000, at her residence. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio, on March 29, 1945, a daughter of Robert and Evelyn (Kinney) Burson. Mrs. Browning worked as a speech language pathologist for Springboro Community Schools. She is survived by her husband, Larry Browning; a daughter, Elaine Willis (Jonathan) of Miami Township; two sons, Kyle Browning (Kelly) of Middletown and Andrew Browning (Kathleen) of Columbus; a grandson, Jack David; her mother, Mrs. Evelyn Burson of Zanesville; three sisters, Mary Lou Delbert and Betsy Devoll, both of Zanesville, and Christina Grubb of Orient, Ohio; and two aunts, Eileen Norman of Zanesville and Martha Lasure of West Palm Beach, Fla. Her father preceded her in death.

Lee O. Bush
Lee O. Bush, 75, of 5742 Somers-Gratis Road, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Sycamore Medical Center. He was born on Aug. 23, 1925, in Chavies, Ky., the son of Tom and Isabelle (White) Bush. Mr. Bush was a job-setter at General Motors 163 for 33 years, retiring in 1985. He was involved in Franklin youth activities including coaching softball. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Bush; and a sister, Rosie Campbell. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Magdalene (Turner) Bush; four children, James L., and his wife, Deborah, of Springboro, Veronica "Bonnie" Woods of Camden, Lee O. Jr., and his wife, Debbra, of Waynesville, and Donald L., and his wife, Donna, of Camden; a brother, Willy of Indiana; a sister, Halla Mae Bush of Mississippi; grandchildren Patrick, Justine, Whitney and Angela Bush, Michelle, Alison and Keith Woods and Jesse, Elizabeth, Jamie, Jacob and Boone Bush; and five great-grandchildren.

Lizzie Maggie Cheatham
FRANKLIN -- Mrs. Lizzie Maggie Cheatham, 91, of 3422 Lynn Drive, Franklin, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 24, 2000, at her winter residence in Okeechobee, Fla. She was born in Magoffin County, Ky., Nov. 25, 1909, the daughter of George and Lula (Walters) Hammonds. She came to the Franklin area in 1929. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Mason. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lois I. and Donald L. Phillips, with whom she resided; granddaughters, Dolly Blair (husband, Dick), Janie Glossip (husband, John) and Debbie Thompson (husband, Rick); grandson, Ray C. Cheatham (wife, Angie); great-grandchildren, Heather Campbell (husband, Mike), Matt Blair (wife, Eliza), Maria Cheatham, Andi Cheatham and Tasha Thompson and great-great-granddaughters, Taylor Marie Blair and Kaylie Campbell. Her husband, Davis Ray Cheatham, preceded her in death in 1952. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Marvin E. Cheatham and David M. Cheatham; three great-grandchildren, Amy Cheatham and Joey and Jordan Glossip and by a daughter-in-law, Mabel Cheatham.

William DeBord
FRANKLIN -- William "Bill" DeBord, 66, of Franklin, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born Sept. 10, 1934 in Malone, Ky., the son of Fred DeBord and Frances (Lykins) DeBord. Mr. DeBord was a supervisor at Diamond International/Smurfit for 40 years. After retirement, he worked for McAlpins/Dillards for the last four years. Mr. DeBord loved to garden. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ann (Rose) DeBord; two daughters, Marcia (husband, John) Taylor of Middletown and Missy (husband, David) Risner of Carlisle; a son, Gary DeBord of Trenton; four grandchildren, Jason and Andy Stidham and Kyle and Korey Risner; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Loretta Carol (husband, Larry) Polisini of Trenton and three brothers, Bobby (wife, Georgia) DeBord of Franklin, Larry (wife, Kathy) DeBord of Sommerville and Freddie (wife, Bonnie) DeBord of Trenton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Monica Lynn Stidham, in 1990.

Verdina Engle
Mrs. Verdina A. Engle, 65, of Clinton Street, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at her residence. She was born Jan. 17, 1935 in Morgan County, Ky., a daughter of Claude and Leora (Perry) McGuire. She was a member of Shiloh's Candlestick Church. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Kathy Engle of Madison Township and Timothy Engle of Middletown; three grandchildren, Kendra Engle, Kelly Engle (wife, Melissa) and Duane Engle Jr.; three great-grandchildren, including Skyler Engle of Middletown and four brothers, Cameron McGuire (wife, Marlene) of Middletown, Clinton McGuire of Indiana and Denton McGuire and Charles McGuire, both of Bucyrus. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Greg McGuire, Duane Engle and Jody Engle; two sisters, Doreen and Joyce Brunner and three brothers, Owen, Vernon and Lynn McGuire.

Sandra Lee (DeBord) Feix, 47, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000. She was born April 20, 1953, in Middletown to James DeBord of Bonifay, Fla., and Elva Louise (Edwards) Seals of Panama City, Fla. She worked as a financial analyst for Sallie Mae. Survivors include her parents; two sons, Sean Feix and Carlton Chewning of Panama City, Fla.; one sister, Bonnie Taulbee of Gratis; and one brother, Charles DeBord, of Charlotte, N.C.

Martha Francis
Martha Ann (Sizemore) Francis, beloved wife of the late William H. Francis, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at her residence on Pennyroyal Road, Franklin, at the age of 92. She is survived by her daughters, Rosemary Turnmire of Springboro, Bernice Turnmire of Franklin, Betty Jo McGuire (Billie) of Franklin and Phyllis Center (Jim) of Middletown. She was the sister of Josie Owsley of Springboro, Bertha Owsley of Springboro, Octavia Morrison of Taylor, Mich., Eva Hughes of Franklin and the late Seymore Sizemore and Laura Scutchfield. She also is survived by 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Woods Road Pentecostal Church.

Mary E. Frederickson
Mrs. Mary Evelyn Frederickson, 88, of Troy, Ohio, formerly of Middletown, passed away at 6:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Harborside Healthcare Center in Troy. She was born in Wheeling, W.Va., on July 29, 1912, to William and Genevieve (Hamilton) Chaney and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy and of St. John's Catholic Church in Middletown, Ohio. Mrs. Frederickson was a volunteer with the American Red Cross in Middletown from 1967 to 1995 and was chairman of production for the Red Cross. She was also a representative to numerous organizations including United Way. She was a recipient of the Bill Hart Award in 1975 She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Frederickson in 1985; a brother, Stanley Chaney; and her parents. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald T. and Jeanette Frederickson of Troy; a sister, Beverly Aaron of Vero Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Christine Kear and Brian Frederickson; and a great-grandchild, Caidren Kear.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy, with Father Thomas Brunner as celebrant. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery, Chester W. Va. The family will receive friends following the Mass at the church.

Elsie Mae Gabbard-Cagg
Elsie Mae Gabbard-Cagg, 79, of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Harbour House Hospice in Las Vegas. She was born on Jan. 18, 1921 in Franklin, the daughter of George and Graw (Robert) Little and was a five-year resident of Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard Gabbard. She is survived by her sons, Guy Gabbard of Las Vegas and Harry Gabbard of Kettering; stepson Rick Cagg of Dayton; stepdaughter Cheryl Wade of Florence, Ky.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Merrill Gose
Merrill R. "Goose" Gose, 59, of 1706 Florence Street, passed away Friday evening in Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Middletown on June 2, 1941, the son of Merrill Randolph and Beulah (Townsend) Gose, and was a lifelong resident. He worked for 30 years for Armco Steel, retiring from the BOF. He is survived by his son, Don Gose (Lisa) of West Middletown; a granddaughter, Brandie Gose; and by two sisters, Donna Gail Voxbrunner and Marilyn Faye Skidmore, both of Florida. He also enjoyed a wealth of friends he had made over the years who will treasure his memory.

Ida Griggs
Mrs. Ida Bell (Gresham) Griggs, affectionately called "Sister Girl," was born on May 22, 1922, in Athens, Ga., to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Milton and Luvater Gresham. She departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, in Big Rapids, Mich. When she was less than one year old, the family moved to Ohio where she was educated in the Middletown public school system. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1941. Mrs. Griggs moved to Muskegon, Mich., and became a licensed cosmetologist. She also was an avid seamstress and hat maker. Mrs. Griggs loved to attend church and she professed Christ at an early age. As an adult she was a member of Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ (Muskegon, Mich.), where she sang in the senior choir. In September 1947, she was joined in holy wedlock with Kenneth O. Johnson, who preceded her in death in 1982. Ida Bell (Gresham) Griggs leaves to cherish her precious memory: her devoted husband, Lawrence Griggs of Muskegon, Mich.; one son, Kenneth E. Johnson (Delores) of Indianapolis, Ind.; Ida Terry (Henry), Johnny and Tommy Griggs of Muskegon, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Luvengia Looney (Herman) of Middletown; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special nieces, Karen A. Richardson and Kassandra L. Moore (Kenneth), both of Middletown, Karla F. Dickerson of Oak Park, Mich.; and nephew Elston H. Gresham of Powder Springs, Ga.; special cousins, Christeen Ringer and Pearlie Mae Jemison, both of Middletown; and a host of other cousins, relatives and many dear friends. Ida Bell (Gresham) Griggs was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margie L. Gresham-Richardson; a brother, Arzell Gresham; and three daughters, Arthadella Anderson, Nola Scott and Bertha Johnson.

Ora Hall
Mrs. Ora Hall, 89, of 312 S. First St., Trenton, passed away Monday morning at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky, Oct. 6, 1911, a daughter of Robert and Della (Sheffield) Rose, and lived in this area most of her life. She worked for several years at Gallaher Drug Store, and then retired from Lewis Drugs. She was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Trenton. She had formerly helped with the reading program for elementary school students in the Edgewood schools. Mrs. Hall was an avid bowler, up to the age of 86. She is survived by her son, Wayne E. Hall (Vicki) of Middletown; a granddaughter, Judy Olson (Ron) of Trenton; a great-granddaughter Donna Olson; a sister, Cora Mehl of Middletown; and special niece and nephew, Sue and Mike Monahan. Her husband, Dudley Hall, preceded her in death in 1984.

William E. Highley
William E. Highley, 55, of 624 Sora Lane, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 20, 2000, in Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Middletown on March 21, 1945, a son of Charles and Christine (Carmack) Highley. He had formerly owned Middletown Appliance. Mr. Highley is survived by his wife, Pam; five sons, Bill Donahue (Diane) of Dayton, Ohio, Tony Highley (Jenny) of Wedowee, Ala., Billy Highley and Todd Highley, both of Middletown, and Brian Highley of Indiana; three daughters, Patty Highley of Indiana, Tammy Highley of Middletown and Billie Hollon (Kendall) of Cumberland, Ky.; six grandchildren; and a stepdaughter, Joni Ryan (Sean) of Trenton. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Junior Highley.

Carl Hon
Carl Raymond Hon, 64, passed away Wednesday Dec. 20, 2000, at his home in Middletown. A lifelong resident, Mr. Hon was born in Middletown on July 6, 1936. Preceding him in death were his parents Viola (Saylor) and Carl Raymond Hon Sr. He is survived by sons Anthony Hon (Lisa) of Loveland, and Nick Patrick Hon; a sister, Janice Woodward of Middletown; a brother, Daniel Hon of Richmond, Ind.; grandchildren Brittany Hon, Bret Little and Dustin Hon; a niece, April Woodward of Middletown; nephews Kevin Hon of New Mexico and Randy Hon of Atlanta; step-mother Velma Hon of Lakeland, Fla.; and half-sister Charlotte Gilpin of Lakeside, Fla.

Charles J. Kilch
Charles J. "Chuck" Kilch, 53, of Liberty Township, died Dec. 21, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton. He was the beloved husband of the late Katherine Kilch; devoted father of C. J. and Kevin Kilch; and dear brother of James, Barry, Lynn Randall and Jeanine Gauen. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on Aug. 5, 1946, to Charles W. and Mary (Garcia) Kilch. Chuck was a network administrator in the computer business. He was a ham amateur radio operator and had been a volunteer firefighter for the Liberty Township Fire Department.

Reece B. Lindon
Reece B. "R.B." Lindon, 70, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Hospice of Dayton where he had been a patient for three weeks. He was born on March 2, 1930, in Belknap, Ky., and had lived in Middletown for 35 years. He was a school teacher and school board member for two years for the Wolfe County, Ky., Board of Education. Mr. Lindon was also a bridge inspector for four years for the Kentucky State Highway Department and a carpenter for the Local Carpenters Union 113 for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He attended University Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Bertha (Centers) Lindon. Edwin Lorig, Jr.
Edwin T. Lorig, Jr., 81, of 112 Maumee Drive, Monroe, passed away at his residence Sunday morning. He was born in Mobile, Ala., March 5, 1919, son of Edwin and Oressa (Phillips) Lorig, and was a purchasing agent for Armco Steel, retiring in 1983 after 33 years of service. He graduated from the University of Michigan, class of 1942. Mr. Lorig was a veteran of the Army Corps of Engineers, serving in the China-Burma-India theater during World War II. Following his retirement, he volunteered as a driver for the American Red Cross, and also was a volunteer at Middletown Hospital for 16 years. He attended St. Paul's United Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Amanda (Platt) Lorig; two daughters, Peggy Crews (husband Russell) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Nancy Brown (husband David) of Indianapolis, Ind.; son, Robert E. Lorig (wife Connie) of DePere, Wis.; four grandchildren, Catherine Brown of Boston, Mass., John Brown (wife Laura) of York, Pa., and Carrie Lorig and Grace Lorig, both of DePere, Wis.; and a brother, Glenn Lorig of Hillsborough, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Grace Campbell.

Robert E. Martin
Robert E. Martin, 71, of 2009 Sherman Ave., died Thursday evening, Dec. 21, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Winchester, Ky., on March 30, 1929, a son of James and Nora (Rainey) Martin. He worked as a crane operator for Armco Steel Co., retiring in 1977. Mr. Martin was an Army veteran and served as a medic in Germany during the Korean War. He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Combs of Middletown; a son, Robert Edward Martin of Chautauqua; five grandchildren, Chad Combs, Kristi Martin, Ryan Martin, Kara Martin and Kala Martin; three great-grandchildren, Randall Combs, O'Shea Martin and Daeshawn Martin; a sister, Mary Reffitt of Apopka, Fla.; and a brother, Oscar Martin of Camden, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Mary Katherine last year; a daughter, Jodi in 1969; a son, Randall Patrick in 1994; sisters Edith Martin, Nunnie Reffitt and Pearlie Jewell; and brothers Benny, Woodrow and J. C.

Marcella Pritchett
Mrs. Marcella Pritchett, 86, of Middletown, passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Garden Manor Extended Care Center. She was born on Aug. 5, 1914, in Huffville, Va., and lived here most of her life. Mrs. Pritchett was a teacher for the Middletown City School System for 33 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence A. Pritchett Sr., in 1990; and her parents, Frank and Kate (King) Richards. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Fultz, and her husband Homer, of Middletown; a son, Lawrence A. Pritchett Jr., and his wife Tracy, of Wichita, Kan.; five grandchildren, Shelley Pontius of Hilliard, David Fultz of Middletown, and Lola Pfeifer, Annie Pritchett and David Pritchett, all of Wichita, Kan.; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Frank Richard of Bluefield, W. Va., and Francis Richards of Clinton, Iowa.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Woodside Cemetery Chapel, with the Rev. John Keeney officiating. Interment will be at the Woodside Mausoleum. There will be no visitation.

Alberta Robison
FRANKLIN -- Mrs. Alberta Robison, 92, of 3329 Jeffrey Drive, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born on May 11, 1908, in Franklin, Ohio, the daughter of Albert and Mary Elizabeth (Wilson) Stow. Mrs. Robison was a member of the New Jersey Presbyterian Church and member of the Viola Rebekah Lodge. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Ralph E. Robison in 1987. She is survived by her sons, Donald E., and his wife, Flo, of Bradenton, Fla., Robert and his wife, Carol, of Franklin, Eldon L., and wife, Judy, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Richard S., and wife, Mary Lou, of Springboro; a niece, Lucille, and husband, Dave McCoy, and their family, of Beavercreek; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Chester Rose, Sr.
Chester Arthur Rose Sr. passed away at his residence on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000. He was born in Stanton, Kentucky, and had resided in Jacksonville for 25 years. Mr. Rose was the owner and operator of Rose Tire in Jacksonville. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Rita Ann Rose; two sons, Chester A. Rose Jr. and Robert T. Rose; five daughters, Sharon Lynn Hahn, Patricia Falin, Cathleen Skinner, Mary Ellen Rose, and Amanda Hahn; two brothers, Donald Rose and Daniel Rose; four sisters, Elizabeth Selby, Shirley Hayes, Betty Haas and Peggy Shibley; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Charlene Schwegman
Charlene A. Schwegman, 67, of Oxford, passed away Friday evening, Dec. 22, 2000, at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder, Hamilton. She was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Middletown, the daughter of Harry J. and Pauline (Gentry) Werner. She was educated at St. Johns School in Middletown and was a graduate of Middletown High School. After graduating from high school, she went on to earn a nursing degree from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Hamilton, a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Francis College in Illinois and a Masters of Arts degree from Miami University. She was employed at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Oxford’s Women’s Club and Miami University Women’s Club since her retirement, and had planned the 1809 Luncheon for January 2001 for the gourmet interest group. She is survived by her husband, Emanuel (Manny) Schwegman of Oxford; and a sister, Norma Adams (Rod) of Middletown; a brother, James L. Werner Sr. (Sue), of Hamilton; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves very close cousins and many friends and nursing school classmates who met frequently through the years. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Janice Werner.
ARRANGEMENTS: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 111 East High St., Oxford. Burial will be at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Oxford.

Norman W. Shumway
EATON -- Norman Wilson Shumway, 89, of Eaton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000. Mr. Shumway was born on July 11, 1911 in Ladysmith, Wis., the son of the late Fred A. and Margaret (Wilson) Shumway. He married Nora V. Shumway on June 28, 1939 in Covington, Ky. She preceded him in death on July 12, 2000. They were married for 61 years. He was employed as an electrician at Greyhound Bus Lines and was later employed at Saint John Bus Lines. He retired from NCR in Dayton. He was a member of the Assembly Baptist Church in Lutz, Fla. Mr. Shumway is survived by his children, Larry A. (Judy) Shumway of Centerville, Linda L. (Edwin) Shumway of Eaton, Gary A. (Bridgett) of Douglasville, Ga., Michael Shumway of Fairborn, Sandra S. (Reggie) Jordan, David J. Shumway, Mary Worley, Norma J. Miller and Faith (Jared) Vincent, all of Tampa, Fla.; Diane (Greg) Golden of Brandon, Fla., Daniel A. Shumway of Tampa and Martha L. Shumway of Eaton; 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Howard Smith
Howard Franklin Smith, 76, of 109 West Jackson St., Franklin, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. A longtime farmer before coming to Franklin, he was a WWII Army Veteran serving with the 550 Airborne Infantry Batallion and later became a POW in Bad Orb, Germany. He was formerly a member of the Masonic Lodge in Franklin and also a Shriner in Dayton. Howard was an active member of Baptist Tabernacle in Carlisle and formerly worked a St. Regis Paper Co. in Middletown. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 54-plus years; a son, Dewey Smith (Dianne) of Lima; a daughter, Ora Stephens (Hobert) of Middletown; also seven grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Flora Peyton of West Liberty, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Bertha (Morris) Smith; foster parents Floyd and Member Ann Havens; and sisters Goldie, Louise, Margaret and Gladys.

Anna E. Sturgill
Mrs. Anna E. Sturgill, 91, of Middletown, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born on Sept. 23, 1909, in Quicksand, Ky., the daughter of A. K. Frazier and Martha (Robertson) Frazier. Mrs. Sturgill was a member of the University Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Delores Wray of Middletown; four sons, Lacy Sturgill, Kenneth Sturgill and Ernest Dallas Sturgill, all of Middletown, and Darrell Sturgill of Springfield, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Sturgill in 1963, and her parents.

Charles White Jr.
Charles Donald White Jr. was born June 30, 1926, in Rochelle, Ga., to Charles and Etta Mae White Sr. He departed this life Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. Charles retired from Armco Steel after 30 years of service. He was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church. He pastored for two years at Greater Missionary Baptist Church in Middletown. He was a devoted Bible teacher and loved to teach the word. He was the 32nd Past Master of Triedstone Lodge #83, from 1971-1972. His hobbies were fishing and bowling. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles White, Sr. and mother Etta Mae White; one brother Isaiah White. Charles is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ethel White; five sons, Charles III (Patricia) of Atlanta, Wayne Gragston (Katrina) of Cincinnati, Isaiah White (Treasa) of Atlanta, Cleveland Gragston of Middletown, Raymond White (Theda) of Atlanta; seven daughters, Sherry Forte (John) of Cincinnati, Raelynn Washington (Bobbie) of Atlanta, Julia Deans (Carl) of Fayetteville, N.C., Yvonne Gates (Marlon) of Middletown, Karen Mabry of Dayton, Loretta White of Cincinnati; Janetta Cowart (Robert) of Atlanta, and Aliesha White of Cincinnati; two sisters, Henrietta Loney of Middletown, and Pearl Linard (Dave) of Chicago; a brother-in-law, Fred (Debra) Banks of Middletown; uncle, Houston "Cherry" Sheard; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and friends; and a very devoted friend, James "Buddie" White.
