Ranzie R. McGuire
Ranzie "Rambo" McGuire, 64, of Middletown, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Trenton, Ohio, on March 13, 1935, and was a lifelong resident of this area. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. McGuire worked in quality assurance at Armco/AK Steel Co. for 411Ú2 years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his father, Ranzie Raymond McGuire Sr.; his mother, Lottie (Nickell) McGuire; and a brother, Ronald McGuire. Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl (Don) Boyce of Pleasant Plain, Ohio, and Melissa McGuire of Middletown; two sons, Dennis (Renee) McGuire and Patrick McGuire, both of Middletown; five grandsons and one great-grandson; two brothers, Terry and Tim McGuire, both of Middletown; five sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Centers and Ida Adkins of Middletown, Pam (Nearle) Lane of Monroe, Ohio, Patricia Nickell of Middletown and Sheila Ebersole of Worthington, Ohio.
ARRANGEMENTS: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the church. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.

Vance B. Mehl
Former area resident Vance B. Mehl passed away Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Hospice of Dayton on his 60th birthday. He was born in Blue Ball, Ohio, and graduated from Franklin High School in 1958. He retired to Key Largo, Fla., after 30 years of service at Armco/AK Steel Co. in Middletown. He spent his last days at his daughter, Leah's home, surrounded by family and Hospice caregivers, Fran Robinson and Janice Malicki, RN. Mr. Mehl was preceded in death by his parents, Harry L. and Florence (Kyle) Mehl; two brothers, Myron and Oren; two sisters-in-law, Norma and Doris Mehl; and a brother-in-law, Harold Nuss. He is survived by his son, Brian M. of San Diego, Calif.; daughters, Leah Barton (Michael) of Kettering and Suzanne Rucker (Ronald) of Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.; grandchildren, Jessica, Sarah and Jake Barton, and Corey, Logan and Sidney Rucker; sisters, Lois Nuss of Monroe, Ohio, and Florence Robinson (Don) of Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Harry (Bob) Mehl of Franklin; beloved friend, Cynthia Stevens Mehl Jackson of Kettering, Ohio; stepdaughter Michele Fischer and family of Oak Harbor, Wash.; and a host of nieces, nephews and their families.

Emil Robert Miller
Emil Robert "Bob" Miller, 78, of Monroe, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Friday. March 10, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Greenfield, Ohio, and had been a resident of the area since 1943. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was branch manager of Associates Financial Services, retiring in 1985. Mr. Miller was a member of the Northern New Home Old Regular Baptist Church of Goshen, Ohio. He was also an avid golfer, volunteer at the Middletown Regional Hospital and was an all state basketball player in 1940 at McClain High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil W. and Charlotte (Taylor) Miller, and sister, Opal Hart. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Juanita Miller; a son, Bob (Ruth) Miller of Monroe; a daughter, Shari (James) Watts of Middletown, Ohio; five grandchildren, Barbara Brate of Middletown, Robert Miller of Middletown, Debi Harris of Middletown, Sharla Cantrell of Xenia, Ohio, and Eric Tutt of Clayton, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren, Rebekah Brate of Middletown, Austin Brate of Middletown, Logan Miller of Middletown, Brian Harris of Middletown, Brooke Harris of Middletown, Calin Cantrell of Xenia, Lauren Cantrell of Xenia and Mickie Tutt of Wilmington, Ohio; four brothers, William, Wayne, Earl, Dean and Charles Edward Miller all of Greenfield; and two sisters, Geraldine Soales and Mary Alice Frampton, both of Greenfield.

Robert D. Oglesby
Robert Dickey Oglesby, 94, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away at 10 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2000, at his residence. He was born on July 29, 1905, on South Main Street in Middletown and attended "Old South School" in Middletown, Amanda School, and attended high school in Asheville, N.C., graduating in 1924. He took his banking courses and music courses in Cincinnati. He was in local tennis and golf tournaments since 1929, and was a lifelong member of the Historical Society of Middletown. He worked with PRISM, and was a patron of the Middletown Symphony (in which both his son and daughter performed). He was involved in the program to save the locks on the canal. As a youth, and one of the Main Street boys, Robert played with Louis McCallay and one of the Sebalds. He once came to the rescue of a young Mr. Verity, who had fallen from a tree and was unconscious. He loved Main Street and his family was deeply involved in the banking business (Oglesby-Barnitz Bank of Middletown). He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Middletown. Mr. Oglesby was preceded in death by his parents, William Dickey and Robina (Barkelew) Oglesby; his wife, Louise (Jones) Oglesby in 1998; and a brother, Charles Oglesby earlier this year. He is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Louise (Oglesby) Kristin of Middletown; a son, William "Bill" Oglesby, and his wife, Sharon, of Iowa City, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Heidi Louise Oglesby Kristin of Oxford, Ohio, Heather Robin Oglesby Kristin of New York City, Bradley H. Oglesby of Iowa City, Steven Robert Oglesby of Louisville, Ky., Timothy Barnitz Oglesby of Chicago, Ill., David Oglesby of Iowa City, Iowa, and Sarah Louise Oglesby of Rapid City, S.D.; 12 great-grandchildren; and the mother of Williiam "Bill" Oglesby's children, Betty Jean Oglesby of Iowa City, Iowa.

Kathleen Parr
Mrs. Kathleen (Reeves) Parr, 85, formerly of the Dayton and Middletown areas, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2000, in Tampa, Fla. She was the wife of John L. Parr, former pastor of the First Baptist Church in Middletown, Ohio, and the Linden Avenue Baptist Church in Dayton. She was a founding member of the Emanuel Community-American Baptist Church in Palm Harbor, Fla. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Parr) Christison, and her husband, James, of Tampa, Fla.; two grandsons, John and Christopher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. Tobias Funeral Home, Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave., Dayton, is in charge of arrangements.

Irene S. Phillips
Mrs. Irene S. (Strang) Phillips, 100, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at the Otterbein-Lebanon Retirement Community. She was born on Feb. 22, 1900, in Bridgewater, Iowa, to Ernest J. and Blanch (Herstein) Strang. She attended Dickinson State College and Valley State College in North Dakota before receiving her bachelor's degree from Miami University in elementary education. Mrs. Phillips worked as a teacher for the West Elkton Elementary School in Ohio for 17 years and the Middletown school district for three years before retiring in June, 1965. She was a former X-ray technician at Middletown Regional Hospital and was a member of the Greenbush United Methodist Church where she was a secretary in the Ladies Aid. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Phillips; two sisters, Thelma Neisja and Beulah Olson; and a brother, Lyle Strang. Survivors include three nephews, Dennis (Leona) Olson of Richardson, Texas, David (Lyndia) Olson of Allen, Texas, and Leon Neisja of Manden, N.D.; and a niece, Blanche Huberholtz of Manden, N.D.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be Wednesday, March 15, from noon to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at the Otterbein-Lebanon Chapel. Interment will be at Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton, Ohio, at 3 p.m.

Polly Ann Reed
Polly Ann Reed, 65, of Middletown, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2000, at 7 p.m. in Middletown. She was born March 27, 1934, in Blue Diamond, Ky., and had lived in Middletown since 1942. She was a member of The Way of the Cross Church. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents, William Beech and Bam (South) Robinson; her husband, Richard Reed Sr.; five sisters, Marie Campbell, Maureen Zornes, Alta Higdon, Fern Buckner and Madge Berry; and two brothers, Charles Robinson and Frank Robinson. She is survived by a son, Richard Reed II of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Beverly Reed Lakes of Middletown; seven grandchildren, Richard Reed III of Middletown, Molly Reed Diallo of Middletown, Polly Reed of Middletown, Gregory Lakes of Middletown, Chad Lakes of Middletown, Amy Lakes of Middletown and Christopher John Woolums of Seven Mile, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Chad Lakes II of Middletown, Zakaria Diallo of Middletown, Justin Dylan Baker of Middletown and Elijah Diallo of Middletown; one brother, Pastor Clyde Robinson Sr. and wife, Ethel of Middletown; two sisters, Linda Hopkins of Middletown and Diana Patterson of Middletown, and many nieces and nephews.

Donald G. Riggs Sr.
TRENTON -- Donald Gene Riggs Sr., 63, of Trenton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born in North Bend, Ohio, on Nov. 22, 1936, and had lived in this area since 1955. Mr. Riggs retired from Armco Steel Co. in 1988 after 33 years service. He was formerly employed there as a stationary steam engineer in the maintenance department. He was a member of the Trenton Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mary Jane Riggs; a son, William "Billy" Lewis Riggs; four brothers, Wilbert, Harold, Carl and George Riggs; and a sister, Gertrude Zembruski. Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Donna; a loving son, Donald Gene Riggs Jr., of Dayton; a cherished daughter, Mary Jane Wooldridge of Middletown; four grandchildren, Jennifer Layburn, Jeffrey Wooldridge, Timothy Lee Riggs and Rachel Ann Riggs; five great-grandchildren, Alysha Moore, Taylor Moore, Monica Layburn, Nathan Wooldridge and Luke Wooldridge; and a brother, Robert Riggs of Middletown.

Earl E. Smith Jr.
Earl E. Smith Jr., formerly of Middletown, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2000, in Pueblo, Colo., where he had lived since 1948. He was 77. He was born in Clarksburg, W.Va. Mr. Smith was a 50-year member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 57 in Middletown and Pueblo; and the Silver State Lodge 95 AF&AM in Pueblo. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific and European theaters. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, the former Alta Craig of Middletown; his parents, Earl and Mattie Right Smith; four brothers, Den, Dale, William and Wesley; and sisters, Elizabeth Grapes and Marjorie Gladstone. He is survived by his children, Ellen Haddix (Robert) of Middletown and Earlette Medina (David) of Pueblo, Colo.; two brothers, Paul Smith of Pueblo and Charles (Betty) Smith of Middletown; a sister, Mary Stamper Russell of Middletown; grandchildren Shelley Greenfield (John) and Kristine Brooks (Rick) of Franklin; a great-grandson, Justin Greenfield of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews.

Edith T. Sohn
Mrs. Edith T. Sohn, 86, of Fayetteville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia, Ohio. She was born in Richmond, Ind., on May 10, 1913, the daughter of J. Weldon Blevins and Ona Lee (Jones) Blevins. Mrs. Sohn was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She helped start the Community Center in Chautauqua in 1951. Survivors include her husband, Adam C. Sohn of Fayetteville; a daughter, Nancy E. (Dick) Osborne of Germantown; a brother, Wallace (Rubie) Blevins of Trenton; a sister, Estelle McDonald of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Wallace (Suzie) Blevins Jr. of West Middletown and Bob McDonald of Detroit, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Don Adam Sohn; a daughter, Judy Sohn; a brother, Clarence Blevins; and a grandchild, Cheryl Osborne.

SPRINGBORO -- Myrtle Walters, 79, of 45 E. Mill St., died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Sycamore Hospital. She was born in Keck, Ky., on April 10, 1920, the daughter of Shelton and Minta (Rowe) Spencer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, in 1997. Surviving are 10 children, Darrell Walters and Wendall Walters, both of Springboro, Joyce Walters of Franklin, Kenneth Walters of Miamisburg, Ruby Kirby of Franklin, Vonda Walters of Germantown, Ronnie Walters, and his wife, Loretta, of Germantown, Patricia Walters, and Pam Bailey, and husband, Keith, all of Springboro, and Dwayne Walters, and wife, Barbara, of Gratis; two brothers, Harlen Spencer of Florida and Frank Spencer of Lewisburg; three sisters, Juanetta Martin of Kentucky, Louella Howard of Franklin and Irene Roberts of Kentucky; 19 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Faye L. Webber
Mrs. Faye L. (Bower) Webber, 73, of Forest Park, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000. She was the beloved wife of Curtis L. Webber; devoted mother of Deborah (Rick) Lothes, Fayetta (Bernie) Meirjohan, Stanley (Victoria) Webber, Curtis (Stephanie) Webber Jr., and Clifton (Jenny) Webber; dear sister of Marvin Bower of Hagerstown, Md.; and also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was born on Jan. 12, 1927, in Hagerstown, Md., to Jacob and Caroline (Kohn) Bower and was a 1945 graduate of North Hagerstown (Md.) High School.

Warren Adams
Warren Adams, 70, of Rotonda West, Fla., formerly of Trenton and Middletown, Ohio, died Thursday, March 2, 2000. He was born in Middletown on Feb. 5, 1930. He lived in Trenton, Ohio, until 1986 when he moved to Florida. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Adams had retired from Armco/AK Steel Co. in Middletown as a machine operator after 30 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two sons, Jeffrey and Russell Adams, both of Middletown; and a grandson, Russell Adams Jr. of Middletown. A sister, Rissie Wilson, preceded him in death.

Ray E. Barber
Ray E. Barber, 76, of 7076 Ashwood Knolls, Indian Springs, died Sunday evening, March 5, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Owingsville, Ky., on May 29, 1923, a son of Jennings and Ethel (Hart) Barber. Mr. Barber was power engineer for the Diamond National (later Jefferson Smurfit) Co., retiring in 1987 after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Arzella (Lawson) Barber; a daughter, Carolyn Centers of Indian Springs; two sons, Ronald Madden of Springboro and Michael Barber of Lewisburg; six grandchildren, Lisa McKinney, Renee Selby, Mark Madden, Melissa McReynolds, Amy Barber and Scott Barber; nine great-grandchildren, Zack McKinney, T.J. Selby, Kaelah Selby, Audriana Selby, Kevin Madden, Ashley Madden, Seth White, Blake White and Jesse McReynolds; a brother, Vernon Barber of Owingsville, Ky.; and two sisters, Gladys Hatton of Dayton, Ohio, and Edna Rogers of Owingsville, Ky. A brother, Roger, preceded him in death.

Brenda S. Buder
Mrs. Brenda Sue Buder, 48, formerly of 55 Maple Ave., Amelia, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Vitas Hospice of Cincinnati. She was born on Sept. 27, 1951, in Frenchburg, Ky., the daughter of Thomas and Alma (Pitts) Whiteman. She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother, Joseph Whiteman. Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Nicholas; her mother, Alma Whiteman of Franklin; sons John and David Brogan, both of Amelia, and Thomas Brogan of Franklin; daughters Patricia Cox and Josie Combs, both of Franklin; brothers Bill, Warren, Donald and Thomas Whiteman, all of Franklin, Dick Whiteman of Ross, Ohio, and Morton Whiteman of Miamisburg; sisters Patricia Mitchell and Shirley Thompson, both of Franklin, Alberta Burger of Indiana and Alma Bess of Kentucky; and two grandchildren.

Nancy Castellano
Nancy Castellano, 78, formerly of Middletown, passed away Friday, March 3, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born July 21, 1921, in Italy to Costantino and Elvira (Sora) Capozzi. She was a member of Holy Family Parish. Mrs. Castellano worked with her husband at their business, Castellano's Ornamental Iron Co. in Middletown. She is survived by a daughter, Christina (Stafford) Post of Middletown; a son, Frank Castellano of Stewart, Fla.; three brothers, Tony Capozzi, Dick Capozzi, and Frank Capozzi, all of Middletown; two sisters, Julia Root and Ida Pearce, both of Middletown; a granddaughter, Melissa Post Purdum of Centerville, and a grandson, Sean Post of Middletown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Castellano in 1992, and her parents, Costantino and Elvira Capozzi.

Marcella Meyer Cheh
Marcella Meyer Cheh, 75, of Middletown, died Thursday evening at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born July 5, 1924, in Monroe, the daughter of August E. Meyer and Esther F. Mehl Meyer. Mrs. Cheh was a 1942 graduate of Monroe High School. She had worked in the accounting departments at Armco, Hauselman Transportation Co., and the Miami Terminals. She was a co-owner of the family-owned Pleasant Hill Golf Club. She is survived by her mother, Esther F. Meyer of Middletown; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Jack Griffis of Middletown; seven brothers and sisters-in-law, August B. and Evelyn Meyer of Toledo, James E. and Phyllis Meyer of Springdale, David W. and Doris Meyer of West Chester, Lynn J. and Dorothy Meyer of Middletown, Harvey A. and Joan Meyer of Monroe, Curtis L. and Mary Jo Meyer of Middletown, and Dennis G. and Karon Meyer of Monroe; and 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman Cheh, in 1989.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with the Rev. John Keeny officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Private burial is at the convenience of family at Springhill Cemetery.

Mrs. Betty C. Eve, 68, of 2010 Logan Ave., died Wednesday morning, March 1, 2000, at Garden Manor Extended Care Center. She was born in Darke County, Ohio, on Jan. 15, 1932, a daughter of Albert Wade and Vauda (Smith) Harsh. She had worked as a nurse's aide at Middletown Regional Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Lester; three sons, Robert and Kent, both of Middletown, and Mark of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Vera Warren and Marlene McGlinch, both of Greenville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a son, Asa Harsh; a sister, Juanita Hines; and two brothers, Donald and James.

Lake J. Feltner
FRANKLIN -- Mrs. Lake Josephine Feltner, 66, of 442 Greenup Court, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at 2:04 a.m. at Hospice of Dayton. She was born in Bulan, Ky., on March 4, 1933, the daughter of Carl and Ida Mae (Bush) Combs. She was employed by Miami Carey for 23 years and retired in 1989. Mrs. Feltner was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Donald Combs and Shade Smith. Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Wallace; a son, Larry Feltner of Franklin; daughters Pat Hall of St. Petersburg, Fla., Karen Barnes and Teresa Faulkner, both of Franklin and Ella Carder of Middletown; three brothers, Arnold Combs of Hazard, Ky., and Vernon Combs and Bob Smith, both of Dayton; seven sisters, Ann Zegrs of Florida, Dot Rodgers of Franklin, Lois Bowlin of Bulan, Ky., Carlene Combs of Indiana, Vicki Goodman and Glenna Ratliff, both of Bulan, Ky., and Sue Parsons of Dayton, Ohio; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. t

Alison Leigh Fiora
Alison Leigh Fiora, 33, of Middletown, died Saturday morning at the Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 6, 1966, the daughter of Lloyd and Jean Mills Harris. She was a graduate of Miami University as a registered nurse. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Jon Fiora; her parents, Lloyd Harris of Maysville, Ky., and Jean Harris of Trenton; a brother, Chris Harris of Franklin; a sister, Hilary Hollister of Trenton, and her maternal grandmother, Sylvia Mills of Knoxville, Tenn.

Millard Fleming
Millard Fleming, 95, of Beefhide Creek, Ky., passed away Sunday, March 5, 2000, at his home. He was born on June 30, 1904, in Clintwood, Va., the son of Cas and Missouri Kelly Fleming. Mr. Fleming was a retired factory worker. He was a member of the Church of God in Jenkins, Ky. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Fleming; sons Basil Fleming of Monroe, Ohio, Ballard Fleming of Omaha, Neb., and Bonnard Fleming of Sonora, Calif.; a stepson, Tunis Daniels Jr.; daughters Hattie M. Moore of Sonora, Calif., Edna Short of Los Angeles, Calif., and Martha Brashaw of Sonora, Calif; two stepdaughters, Paula Ferrell and Joyce Caldwell; and two brothers, Noah Fleming of Middletown, Ohio, and Hatler Fleming of Jenkins, Ky.; 31 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two wives, Esther T. Cornett and Mae Shepkerd; sons Herbert and Robert Lee Fleming; and three brothers and five sisters.

James M. Fuller
FRANKLIN -- James Morris Fuller, 82, of Franklin, passed away Friday, March 3, 2000, at Willow Knoll Care Center after a brief illness. He was born in Middletown, Ohio, on May 15, 1917, the son of Ralph and Laura (Sandlin) Fuller. He graduated from Youngstown High School in 1935 and attended the University of Cincinnati. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served with the 3rd Armored Division. Before his retirement, Mr. Fuller had worked as supervisor of appraisals for the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was also the former director of Oak Hill Bank of Franklin and a court bailiff for J. T. Riley. He loved to travel and enjoyed boating and fishing with his friends. He was a 32nd degree Mason of Eastern Star Lodge in Franklin, member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, Antioch Temple in Dayton, Middletown Commandery No. 7, Knights Templar in Middletown, Royal Arch Masons Roof Chapter 238 Lodge in Franklin and was a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include his wife, Louise (Sydnor) Fuller of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Laura (Sandlin) Fuller.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial services were concluded at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home. Dr. Delbert Dawes officiated. Visitation and a Masonic service preceded the memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. Interment was at Springboro Cemetery.

James R. Gilbert
SPRINGBORO -- James R. Gilbert, 62, of 280 Cedar Hill Drive, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Franciscan Hospital. He was born in Keokee, Va., on April 15, 1937, the son of Hagan and Victoria (Sorah) Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was employed as a truck driver with Air Products and Chemical for 30 years and retired on Feb. 28, 2000. He was a volunteer for the Clearcreek Fire Department and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Franklin. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Trisha Hecker. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Wanda (Hayes) Gilbert; a daughter, Kelly Lynch of Springboro; a brother, Dale Gilbert; two sisters, Doris Brayfield of Xenia and Betty Sue Temple of Dayton; and a grandchild, Brittnie Truesdell.

Nellie M. Hutchinson, 81, of Middletown, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Barbara Parke Extended Care Center. She was born in Middletown on Oct. 13, 1918, and was a lifelong Middletown resident. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Cora Davis. Surviving are a son, Tom Hutchinson of Middletown; two grandchildren, T.J. Hutchinson, and his wife, Lori, and Steve Falearos, and his wife, Connie; two great-grandchildren, Kaid and Adrianne; and a sister, Fran Eggleston. There will be no visitation or service. Robert Raymond Inloes, 52, of Fairfield Center, Fairfield, Ohio, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on Feb. 7, 1948, the son of Louis Howard and Freda Blanche (Parvis) Inloes. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1996. Surviving are his father, Louis Howard Inloes of Middletown; two brothers, Edward Inloes of Carlisle and Gerald Inloes of San Antonio, Texas; and a sister, Martha L. Reese of Chautauqua.

Mary A. Johnson
Mary A. Johnson, 58, of Middletown, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born to Susie Mae and the late Thomas Jones Sr. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Johnson in 1994. Mrs. Johnson leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Susie Mae Jones of Hamilton; one son, Ronald E. Johnson of Cincinnati; five daughters, Cheryl Kenerly and Darlene Philpot, both of Cincinnati, Brenda McGinnis, Vickie Morgan and Karen Sims, all of Middletown; nine brothers, Thomas Jr., Leroy, Gary, Anthony, Tony, and Gregory Jones, all of Hamilton, Jesse Jones of Cincinnati, Timothy Jones of Cincinnati, Robert Jones of California; four sisters, Emme Lou Hubble of Cincinnati, Eleanor Millings of Liberty Township, Stephanie Sloan of Mansfield and Deborah Sloan of California; sister-in-law, Shirley Brown of New York; 15 grandchildren, special grandchild, Anedra Ash; two great-grandchildren, a goddaughter, Roxann Carter of Middletown, and a host of relatives and friends.

Robert F. McConaughy
Robert F. McConaughy, retired Middletown city health commissioner, passed away Friday, March 3, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. Born April 26, 1909, in Union Township, Brown County, Ohio to the late Frank E. and Mary Alice McConaughy, he was also preceded in death by a brother, John Clifford of Columbus. Mr. McConaughy began his 27-year career with the city of Middletown as a milk sanitarian in 1947 until he became city health commissioner in 1953, a post he held until his retirement in 1974. He was awarded a bachelor's degree in economics in 1970 from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Mr. McConaughy was a member of Holy Family Parish, a 45-year member of the Middletown Kiwanis Club, and also a long-standing member of Forest Hills Country Club. He was a former member of Cincinnati Area Council on Aging, Health Commissioners Society and National Environmental Association. He belonged to the Duplicate Bridge Club. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Ruth McLain, whom he married Aug. 28, 1942, in Abilene, Texas; two sons, Mark and his wife Leslie of Middletown and Patrick and his wife Christine of Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. McConaughy also leaves behind five grandchildren, Melissa Blaney and John McConaughy of Orlando, Fla., James McConaughy of Seaside Park, N.J., and Michael and Zachary McConaughy of Phoenix, Ariz. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Gambro Healthcare in Monroe, Monroe Fire Department, and the entire staff of the emergency room and intensive care unit at Middletown Regional Hospital. Mrs. Ada Rachel McGraw, 89, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Willow Knoll Retirement Community. She was born on March 17, 1910, in Monroe, Ohio, the daughter of Levi and Mary (Helsinger) Selby. Mrs. McGraw was married to her husband, Hershel, for 73 years. Surviving are her husband, Hershel of Middletown; a daughter, Ruth Jean Horne of Middletown; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Levi and Mary Selby; a son, John McGraw; three sisters and four brothers; and a grandson, John Michael McGraw.

He was a 1981 graduate of Carlisle High School and a resident of Heartland of Oakridge for one and a half years. Preceding him in death were his parents and sister Tonya L. Wiley. He is survived by a son, Michael P. Melampy of Middletown; a daughter, Erica S. Mrs. Mary (Caudill) Pakter, 56, of 511 West Boulevard, Laurinburg, N.C., formerly of Middletown, died suddenly Thursday, March 2, 2000, at her home. She was born on June 7, 1946, in Laurinburg, N.C., the daughter of the late Edward Caudill. She spent her early years in Middletown, Ohio, and was a former hairdresser. She is survived by a daughter, Amyee Hucks of Aynor, S.C.; her mother, Evelyn Caudill of Laurinburg, N.C.; two brothers, Jeffery Caudill of Greensboro and Charles Caudill of Creedmore, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Ashley Hucks and Megan Hucks of Aynor.

Ercola J. Polisini
Ercola J. Polisini "E.J.," 98, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2000. He was born in Teramo, Italy, on Oct. 16, 1901, but lived in this area for most of his life. Mr. Polisini was the owner and operator of Polisini's Food Market for 35 years. After his retirement in 1965, he enjoyed his large garden which produced beautiful vegetables, especially tomatoes which were all canned and displayed so beautifully. The flowers were also a picture to behold. "E.J." gave generously to charities and other organizations and during the Depression he always helped those in need. He belonged to the American Italian Society and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Polisini on Sept. 22, 1995; his father, James Polisini; his mother and her husband, Catherine and Gaetano Giordano; and a son, James F. Polisini. Survivors include a daughter, Marie "Mimi" Achberger, and her husband, Earl, of Mason, Ohio; two sons, David Polisini of Milford and Larry Polisini, and his wife, Loretta, of Trenton; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and special thanks to his nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

She was born Oct. 31, 1942, in Kinver, Ky., the daughter of Otis and Malvia "Howard" Witt. Preceding in her death were her father, Otis Witt, and sister, Jewell Dean Rose. She is survived by her husband, Richard Post of Middletown; mother, Malvia Witt of Middletown; son, Tony Witt of Franklin; stepsons, Richard Post II of Hawaii and Chad Post of Middletown; daughter, Jeanie Short of Lebanon; sisters, Gladys Vaughn of Kentucky, Mabel Crane of Franklin and Betty Perry and Etta Briscoe, both of Middletown, and seven grandchildren.

Barbara A. Potts
Barbara Ann Potts, 70, of Monroe, Ohio, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born on Aug. 5, 1929, in Correctionville, Iowa, the daughter of Carl P. and Loisetta M. (Stubbs) Potts. Miss Potts was a graduate of Park College in Parkville, Mo., and McCormick Seminary in Chicago. She became a certified Christian Educator in 1983. Barbara Ann served as Christian Education Director at First Presbyterian Church from 1973 to 1986. From 1986 until retirement, she was the activities director at Garden Manor Retirement Village. Miss Potts was a member of Soroptimist International of Middletown, AAUW, past moderator of the Miami Presbytery and a member, past president and moderator of Presbyterian Women at First Presbyterian Church. There are no survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Loisetta Potts; and two brothers, Stanley Eugene Potts and Dwight Mason Potts.

Mrs. Helen Reichter, 83, a resident of the Willow Knoll Retirement Community, died Wednesday evening, March 1, 2000. She was born in Harrodsburg, Ky., on Nov. 3, 1916. She was employed for 19 years by the Miami Carey Co. For many years, she and her husband, Walter, made their home at 1024 Elwood St. Mrs. Reichter was a member of the Faith Alliance Church. She is survived by her grandchildren, Victoria Blessing of Miamisburg, and her daughter, Jackie; David and Teresa Goodwin of Middletown, and their children, Katlyn Goodwin and Dusty Smith; Rick and Loretta Koontz of Middletown, and their children, Scott, Heather and Rebecca; Rob and Becky Koontz of Middletown, and their son, Donnie; and Paul and Jerri Goodwin of Trenton, and their children, Alex and Natalee. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; her daughters, Linda Goodwin and Donna Priest; and a step-grandson, Johnny Priest.

Beecher Risner Jr.
Beecher Risner Jr., 69, of Middletown, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at his residence. He was born in Royalton, Ky., on May 16, 1930, and lived here since 1954. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Risner was a letter carrier with the U.S. Post Office in Middletown for 27 years. He retired in 1984. He was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church, Hamilton-Fairfield Disabled American Veterans Chapter 15, and an Honorable Kentucky Colonel. He served as a scoutmaster with Troops 976 and 83 for many years. Mr. Risner was a former song leader with Central Baptist Church. He helped start and served as president of the Edgewood Band Boosters Association for many years. He was preceded in death by his father, Beecher Risner Sr. in January, 2000; and a sister, Malvadine Risner. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Janet (Talbot) Risner; his mother, Versie (Marshall) Risner of Lexington, Ky.; three sons, Keith Risner, and his wife, Deborah, of Trenton, Larry Risner, and wife, Linda, of Gratis Township, Ohio, and Alan Risner, and wife, Cheryl, of Gratis Township; a daughter, Dawn Marie Cooke, and husband, Edd, of Middletown; 18 grandchildren, Joe, and wife, Misty, Joshua, and wife, Rachel, James, Jonathan, Joy, Johanna and Julia Risner, Angie, Amy and Larry Dean Risner, Vanessa, Eddie, Amber, Christina, Daniel and David Cooke, and Justin and Rachel Risner; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Risner of Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Loretta Gillespie of Kenniwick, Wash.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lisa L. Smith
Mrs. Lisa L. Smith, 47, of Dayton, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Kettering Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 24, 1952, in Dayton, the daughter of Richard L. and Jeanne (Wallick) Hoskins. She was employed as a secretary for the Dayton Board of Education. Mrs. Smith was an avid horseback rider and a member of the Trails End Riding Club. She is survived by her husband, David Smith; her father, Richard (wife Katie Whitlock) Hoskins of Monroe; special friend, Richard Weaver of Miamisburg; and an uncle, Don (wife Frances) Hoskins of Middletown. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanne Hoskins in 1971, and her grandparents.

John "Eddie" Turner
John "Eddie" Turner, 36, of Pikeville, Ky., formerly of Middletown, died Friday, March 3, 2000, in Lexington, Ky. He was born April 15, 1963, in Middletown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked for six years as a truck driver for J.B. Hunt Snyder's International. He was a member of Truth Tabernacle Church. He was preceded in death by a half brother, Lonnie Turner. He is survived by his mother, Mabel Williams of Pikeville, Ky.; half brothers, Ermal Miller and wife Rosemary of Franklin and Kenneth Miller and wife Patti of Middletown; half sister, Darlene Cantrell and husband Todd of Middletown, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Truth Tabernacle Church with the Rev. Daniel N. Hidlebaugh officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home. Place of disposition will be at Woodside Cemetery. Arrangements are by Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home.

Jimmie B. Van Cleve
Jimmie B. Van Cleve, 77, of Hazard, Ky., died Friday, March 3, 2000, at V.A. Hospital in Lexington, Ky. He was a resident of Middletown for about 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Gay Nell Ritchie Van Cleve of Hazard, Ky.; a son, William R. Van Cleve and wife Carol of Middletown; a daughter, Kimberly Rena Vanover and husband Jim of Dwaf, Ky.; and three grandchildren, Jason, Rick, and Christy.
ARRANGEMENTS: Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Butler County Memorial Park Chapel with the Rev. Charles Denny officiating. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park in Trenton. Arrangements are by Engle Funeral Home in Hazard, Ky.

Leroy E. Weidle
Leroy Eugene "Jake" Weidle, 68, of Middletown, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was a Middletown native and lifelong resident and was born on June 1, 1931. He graduated from Middletown High School in 1949 and attended a year of college at Miami University. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Weidle worked in technical repair at Armco Steel Co. for 31 years, retiring in 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Estella Weidle. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan C. (Rader) Weidle; two sons, Rick (Susie "Kim") Weidle of Middletown and Kenneth (Deborah) Weidle of South Carolina; a daughter, Judith "Judy" (Erich) Mees of Oxford, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Branden, Ricky and Zach Weidle, Rebecca, Jessica, Marissa and Kenneth II Weidle, and Christopher, Corinne, Samantha and Jessica Mees; two sisters, Eugenie "Janie" Shelton and Kathy Philpot, both of Middletown; and a brother, Lowell (Kathleen) Weidle of Middletown.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Lewis officiating. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of American Legion Post 218. Visitation is today, March 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy J. Woodrey
TRENTON -- Mrs. Dorothy Jeanne Woodrey, 76, of Trenton, died at her residence Wednesday morning, March 1, 2000. She was born on May 4, 1923, at Monroe, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Marie Neubrander Line. Mrs. Woodrey was a lifelong member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ where she was active with the church choir, Women's Guild and the Gleaners. She was a graduate of Monroe High School. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Calvin G. Woodrey; a daughter, Karen Woodrey of Middletown; a son and daughter-in-law, Calvin Gene and Julie Woodrey of Trenton; two grandchildren, Christopher and Tricia Ann Woodrey of Trenton; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Paul Steigerwald of Monroe; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Line of Monroe.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Susan Jones Thompson officiating. Visitations will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial will be at North Monroe Cemetery.
