Edith Booher
Edith (Smoak Smith) Booher, 87, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., died Saturday, June 17, 2000, in Hanahan, S.C. She was born on Aug. 12, 1912, in Smoaks, S.C. She was the daughter of the late John B. and Edith Smoak Smith. Educated by Smoaks public schools, she was a graduate of Winthrop University. She earned her master's degree in library science from the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Booher retired as librarian for the Franklin, Ohio, Public Library. She had also worked as an assistant professor at the Middletown, Ohio, campus of Miami University, and was a member of the library staff at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky. Mrs. Booher was a former member of the Kentucky State Board of Higher Education, and Board of Education for Lexington, Ky. She established a hearing center for the deaf in cooperation with the Junior League and the Lexington Federation of Jewish Women. Mrs. Booher was an original board member of Shakerstown, Mount Pleasant, Ky., and a board member of the Christian and Jewish Society of Lexington. She was a former docent at McKissick Museum, University of South Carolina and also the State Museum, Columbia, S.C. She was a member of the Hibben United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant, S.C. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence (Larry) Booher of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; a daughter, Caroline H. Lane of Decatur, Ga.; four sons, John A. Hernandez and J. William Hernandez of Lexington, Ky., Ed B. Hernandez of Summerville, S.C., and George Hernandez of Clemson, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Catherine B. Tennille of Greensboro, N.C.; a stepson, the Rev. Bruce Booher of Beaumont, Texas; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2000, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Smoaks, S.C. Interment will follow at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, 150 Wentworth St., Charleston, S.C.

John E. Burdsall
John E. Burdsall, 89, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Mount Pleasant Village. He was born in Seven Mile, Ohio, on Nov. 6, 1910, to Richard E. and Olive (Kerr) Burdsall. Mr. Burdsall, formerly of Santa Fe Road, retired from Crystal Tissue as vice-president of manufacturing. He had a degree in geological engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He was also active in civic affairs, including the Middletown Planning Commission and the YMCA. John was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. He was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed tennis, golf, fishing, bowling and playing duplicate bridge. Among his survivors are his wife, Barbara, of Monroe; a son, John R. (Helen) Burdsall of Dayton; a daughter, Carol B. (Roger) Elstun of Hampton, Va.; and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Joseph Burdsall. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother Joy Reist Burdsall; and two sisters, Olive Young and Martha Chace.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial services are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at the First Presbyterian Church, 2910 Central Ave., with the Revs. Robert J. Weingartner and Stan Gockel officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service.

Bernice Carter
Mrs. Bernice Carter, 79, of Gratis Township, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton. She was born on March 9, 1921, in Germantown, Ohio, the daughter of John Terrill and Cora (Evans) Terrill. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Pat (husband Kenny) George of Gratis, and Betty (husband Vernon) Sherman of West Carrollton; a son, Richard (wife Janet L.) Carter of Farmersville; six grandchildren, Jeff (wife Kari) Carter, Kelly (husband Mike) Lane, Vicki (husband Kevin Taylor, Conni (husband David) Deaton, Kim (husband Doug) Thompson, and Ken (wife Robin) George; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Eric and Jeremy Taylor and Robby and Aaron Deaton. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Archie in 1998; her parents; and three brothers, Forest, Russell and James Terrill

Byron G. Countryman
Byron G. Countryman, 81, of 10130 Carlisle Pike, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at 6:05 p.m. at Willow Knoll Nursing Home in Middletown. He was born in Hillsboro, Ohio, on March 26, 1919, the son of Al and Anna (Stadfeld) Countryman. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and receiving two Bronze Stars. Mr. Countryman was employed at Armco Steel Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1978 as a supervisor in the West Processing Plant. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Countryman; and a sister, Joan Lackey. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Doris L. (Kellis) Countryman; three sons, Steve Countryman of Middletown, Dan Countryman of Portland, Ind., and Cary Countryman of font-family:Arial"> Germantown; a brother, Robert Countryman of Ross; a sister, Catherine McCoy of Tampa, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Leeia Wonet Dial
Leeia (Ward) Wonet Dial, 29, of Middletown, Ohio, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. Mrs. Dial was an optician and had been employed for two years at Lens Crafter at Tri-County Mall. Among her survivors are her husband, Reginald Dial; a son, Andrew Cardale Ward; two daughters, Shiwanda Deneene Ward and Taneah Shiree Gregory; her father, Charlie E. Ward Sr.; her mother, Wanda L. Ward; a brother, Charlie W. Ward Jr.; and a sister, Denise Ford.

Joseph M. Dillon
Joseph M. Dillon, 78, of Middletown, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. A Middletown native, he was born on April 1, 1922, the son of David and Julia (McDonough) Dillon. Mr. Dillon was a member of Holy Family Parish. He also served on the Holy Trinity Parish Council and was an usher. He was a life member of the Middletown Elks 257 and former president of Toastmasters in Middletown. Mr. Dillon started his employment at Armco Research, after which he worked for Inland Container Corp. in Middletown as sales manager, Hoosier Container in Huntington, W.Va., as sales manager, and Diamond International in New Castle, Ind., as sales manager from which he retired in 1982. Surviving are his wife, Yvonne of Middletown; two sons, David Michael (Barbara) Dillon of Houston, Texas, and Thomas Joseph (Holly) Dillon of Louisville, Ky.; three daughters, Deborah Kathryn Martin of Mequon, Wis., DeeDee Chaney of Middletown and Melissa (Raymond) Sherman of Indiana Springs, Ohio; two brothers, Con (Lucy) Dillon and David Dillon, both of Middletown; a sister, Agnes (John) Georgis of Cleveland; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Dillon; and five sisters, Mary and Fran Dillon, Eileen Kercsmar, Margaret Miller and Irene Cahill.

Patricia A. Downs
Mrs. Patricia A. "Pat" Downs, 53, of Madison Township, Ohio, died Wednesday,June 14, 2000, at her residence. She was born on Sept. 29, 1946, in Logan, W.Va., the daughter of Lonnie and Ossie (Browning) Lane. Pat was an amateur radio operator whose call sign was KC8DVC. She was a member of the Dial Radio Club and the 5-W Club. She was affiliated with the Franklin First Church of God. Surviving are her husband, Roy L. Downs of Madison Township; four brothers, Lonnie Lane Jr. of Middletown, Johnnie Lane of Portsmouth, Ohio, Jerry Lane of Turtle Creek, W.Va., and Walter Lane of West Elkton, Ohio; three sisters, Marie Lowe of Chauncey, W.Va., Edna Slade of Gratis and Ruth McKinney of St. Cloud, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Ossie Lane.
ARRANGEMENTS: Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, at Butler County Memorial Park in Wayne Township, Ohio. The Rev. Doug Sczerba will officiate. Visitation will be private.

Lance L. Duncan
Lance L. Duncan, 69, of Lebanon and formerly of Middletown and Independence, Ky., died Saturday, June 17, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Henderson, Ky., the son of Stuart and Gladys (Spencer) Duncan. He retired with 26 years of service from Litton/Western Atlas Co. in Independence, Ky., and from Aeronca in Middletown with 20 years of service as a contract administrator for both firms. He was a member of the Kentucky National Guard, served as church treasurer of the Florence Baptist Temple and served as a member of city council in Independence for four terms. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-parents John E. Spencer and Pauline Duncan; and a brother Dale Duncan. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara Jean (Goforth) Duncan of Lebanon; four sons, William T. of Middletown, Larry G. of Indiana, Gary S. of Lebanon and David L. Duncan of Fairfield; a daughter, Robin J. Conger of Lebanon; four brothers, Glenn, Robert and Terry Duncan and Ronald E. Spencer all of Kentucky; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Irene E. Ellis
Irene E. (Mato) Ellis, 66, a native of Middletown, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 17, 2000, at her home in California. She was born in Middletown, Ohio, on Oct. 22, 1933, the daughter of John and Anna (Apati) Mato, and grew up in the Gratis/Camden area. She lived and worked in Los Angeles County for the past 20 years, first as a nursing assistant and then as a technician in the aerospace industry. She retired in May 1999. Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Jeffery, age 27, in January 1991; a daughter, Jennifer, age 37, in January 2000; brothers John and Andy Demeter and Joe Mato; and a sister, Anna Snowden. She is survived by her daughter, Meloni Ruiz, and her husband, Hector, of California; a son, Lance Ellis of South Carolina; brothers Frank Mato, and his wife, Pauline, of Middletown, and James Mato, and his wife, Shirley, of Franklin; sisters Rosemary Nelson, and her husband, Robert, of California, and Helen Garner of Garfield Heights, Ohio; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who have lost their beloved "NaNa"; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends who also mourn her passing.

Helen F. Fugett
Helen Faye (Allen) Fugett, 63, of Springboro died Saturday, June 17, 2000 at Sycamore Hospital. She was born in Viper, Ky., on Feb. 16, 1937, the daughter of Harlan and Sally (Combs) Allen. She attended Grace Baptist Church in Middletown and Cedarville College. She was employed as a nurse for 23 years, retiring from Quaker Heights Nursing Home in 1980. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harley Red Allen and Eli Allen; and two sisters, Ida Mae and Mabel. Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Thomas E. Fugett; two daughters, Sandra Fugett and Deborah Rider, both of Springboro; three sisters, Bonnie Barrett of Jackson, Ky., Vina Jones of Middletown and Ruth Ann Wright of Speedway, Ind.; five grandchildren, Shelbi, Aaron, Matthew, Joshua and Sean.

Eileen Fulmer
Eileen Fulmer, 80, of Middletown, died Friday, June 16, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born April 23, 1920, in Spencer County, Indiana, the daughter of Minnie (Wetzel) Mulhall and Harvey Mulhall. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and a former member of the Ladies Society. Survivors include her husband, Donald Fulmer, of Middletown; a son, Mike H. (wife Pat) of Middletown; two daughters, Peggy A. (husband Eddie) Runnells and Bonnie L. (husband Chris) Carberry, all of Middletown; a sister, Betty J. Latham of Trenton; nine grandchildren, David Runnells, Jennifer Roberts, the Rev. Jeff Fulmer, Tina Fulmer, Jessica, Eric, Amy, Aaron and Jacob Carberry; and three great-grandchildren, Krista Roberts, Jacob Runnells and Heather Runnells. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harvey L. Mulhall, and a sister, Margaret Ann Mulhall.

Teresa A. Gray
Teresa Ann Gray, 18, of 107 Normal Drive, passed away Monday, June 12, 2000, at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati after a lengthy illness. She was born in Kettering, Ohio, on May 8, 1982, the daughter of Billy and Judy (Guthrie) Gray. She was a student at Franklin High School, graduating May 27, 2000, and attended Franklin Freewill Baptist Church. Teresa was a member of the 4-H Club of Warren County and played soccer, baseball and softball. She is survived by her parents; grandparents Charles and Lula Guthrie of Miamisburg and Galloway and Faye Gray of Franklin; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Boyd Gumm
Boyd Gumm, 64, of Middletown, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Kodak, Ky., on June 10, 1936, but lived here most of his life. He was an Army veteran. Mr. Gumm was a supervisor at Tenneco Corp. where he was employed for 43 years before retiring in 1998. He was a member of Lincoln Lodge 693 Free & Accepted Masons and a Red Cross volunteer. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Gumm, and his mother, Rachel Gumm Colwell; and a brother, Bernard Gumm. He leaves his wife of 43 years, Clara; a son, Michael Gumm of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Lisa Gumm of Cincinnati; a granddaughter, Jody Faulkner; a brother, Robert Colwell of Middletown; and three sisters, Betty Hapner of Arizona, and Janet Boone and Donna Krause, both of Middletown.

Phebe Harbaugh
Phebe Harbaugh, 92, of Lebanon, died Saturday, June 17, at Sycamore Medical Center in Miamisburg. She was born in Clinton County, Ohio, on Sept. 4, 1907, the daughter of Calvin and Lillian (Hurley) Lundy. Mrs. Harbaugh was a member of the former Franklin Farmers Club, Springboro Grange, Ladies Aid Society, Chester Friends Church in Clinton County and First United Church of Christ in Springboro, where she served as organist for 25 years. She attended Wilmington College. She was a teacher in the Springboro Schools for 18 years, retiring in 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard A. Harbaugh; five brothers, Clive, Ernest, Frank, Lindley and James Lundy; and a sister, Lily May Gillam. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Gray and her husband Ron of Springboro; three grandchildren, Shelli Gentry and her husband Rick, Jeffrey Gabbard and wife Angie, Jason Gabbard and wife Traci; two great-grandchildren, Brittani and Alexis.

Clifford Harris Sr.
Clifford Harris was the sixth son of 11 children of the late Jim and Willie Harris. He was born in Herd County, Ga., in the small town of Franklin, on Jan. 9, 1920. He departed this life Monday morning, June 12, 2000, while sleeping peacefully at his home. He was a true believer in God. At the time of his demise, Clifford was a member of New Life Church of God in Christ where Elder Melvin Holmes is the pastor. Clifford (Gee, as he was called affectionately by his older friends and family members) was a veteran of World War II. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, he moved to Middletown, Ohio, with his wife, the late Hazel Harris. Clifford was a member of the Elks and of the Hunter-Clark Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a friendly and caring man who lived the outdoors. He was that rare breed of men who still hunted with their dogs and enjoyed the solace of the woods. He had a diversity of friends and was respected by all. His strength to carry on in spite of the obstacles he faced in life showed his true character which he passed along to his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Norma Jean; four sons, Yusuf Ahmed (Joe Harris) of Florida, and Clifford Jr., Derrick and Todd Edward, all of Middletown; three daughters, Althea Harris, Patricia Harris and Beverly Harris, all of Middletown; his stepchildren, one son, Eric Hawkins, two daughters, Regina Cook and Norma Rae Hawkins of Middletown; one surviving sister of 11 siblings, Morain Stricklin, age 90, of Carrolton, Ga.; 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; his niece, Barbara Ann Williams of Muncie, Ind.; and two nephews, Thomas Jr. and Terry Harris of Dayton, Ohio.
MEMORIALS: Arrangements are being conducted by Hall-Jordan Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, June 17, 2000. The family will greet relatives and friends starting at 11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at noon. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.

Gwendolyn 'Tusie' Hayes
Mrs. Gwendolyn "Tusie" Hayes, 81, of Monroe, passed away Friday at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Middletown on March 11, 1919, to Oliver D. Davis and Carolyn (Reckman) Davis. She was a 1936 graduate of Middletown High School. Mrs. Hayes was a charter member of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church and active in the Elizabeth Church Circle. She had lived in a cottage at Mount Pleasant Village for eight years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Hayes, on May 11, 1993; her parents; two brothers, Tom Davis and Ted Davis; and a son, Rick Hayes on May 14, 1979. She is survived by a daughter, Libby Hayes (Troy) Paskell of Powell, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Sarah, John and Adam Edgerton.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services were concluded Monday at St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Middletown with the Rev. Doris Whitaker officiating. Burial was at Woodside Mausoleum. The family received friends Monday at the Church.

Louise E. Heller
Mrs. Louise Elizabeth Heller, age 99 years, 11 months and two days old, of 4531 Bonita Drive, Middletown, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at 5:55 a.m. at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Mount Healthy, Ohio, on July 12, 1900, the daughter of Jess and Barbara (Bohener) Haught. Mrs. Heller was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Franklin. Preceding her in death were her husband, Howard in 1984, and a son, Robert. Surviving are two sons, Eugene Heller of Middletown and James Heller of Franklin; two daughters, Emily Jackson of Middletown and Shirley Mahrt of West Carrollton; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Ronald A. LaRocque
Ronald Anthony LaRocque of Middletown, also known as "Frenchy" to his many friends, was born in Malone, N.Y., on Feb. 10, 1944. Mr. LaRocque went to be with our Savior on Tuesday, June 13, 2000, while a patient at Middletown Regional Hospital. Ronald moved to New York at the age of 16 when he started working at a meat packaging plant. He moved to Ohio in 1968 and started work at Woody's Supermarket, later Phil and Jerry's Foodarama, and then, Dillman's Foods and Truckway. He was a meat cutter for almost 40 years. Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Gerald LaRocque of Bloomville, N.Y., and a daughter, Renee LaRocque of Bloomville. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Miles of Malone, N.Y.; a sister, Geraldine Marlowe of Malone; three brothers, James LaRocque of Bloomville, and Daniel LaRocque and Richard Nason, both of Malone, N.Y.; five children, Michelle Rosa and Ronald A. William N. Linkous
William N. Linkous, 82, of Middletown, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at the Middletown Regional Hospital emergency room. He was born April 17, 1918 in Stillwater, Ky., to James Irwin Linkous and Cassandra (Centers) Linkous. Mr. Linkous served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He retired from Armco Steel after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Yankee Road First Church of God. He also served as a Boy Scout leader and a school crossing guard. He is survived by four daughters, Lucy (husband Dale) Ashley of Franklin, Alice (husband David) Brown of Middletown, Billye (husband Frank) Hodits of Rochester, Mich., and Bonnie (husband Anthony) Pugh of Monroe; a son, William Linkous II of Minneapolis, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Alice Lynn Callahan, Tim and Valerie Ashley, Angela Shepherd, Julianne Burkard, Jennifer Simpson, and Cassandra, Joshua and Aaron Pugh; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Mathis, Daniel and Brandon Bunn, Madeline, Christopher and Austin Simpson and Samantha Shepherd; a sister Josephine (husband Pete) Carberry of Middletown. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Catherine Linkous in 1973; his parents; five brothers, Floyd, Walton, Rex, James and Nicholas; and eight sisters, Daisy, Dora, Nora, Ella, Anna, Rebecca, India and Viola.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Yankee Road First Church of God, with the Rev. Arnold McConnell and the Rev. Kevin Collins officiating. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post 218 Color Guard will be at Woodside Cemetery.

Greg McFarland
Greg McFarland, 48, of Middletown, died Friday, June 16, at Garden Manor Extended Care in Middletown. He was a lifelong resident of Middletown and was self-employed in heating and air conditioning. He was a member of Town Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Mary (Leach) McFarland. Survivors include four brothers, Ronald K. (wife Alice) McFarland of Carlisle, Robert McFarland of Chillicothe, Randy McFarland of Middletown and Dave (wife Jackie) McFarland of Middletown; and nieces and nephews, Steve McFarland of Carlisle, Rick McFarland of Carlisle, Rob McFarland of Middletown, Amber McFarland of Chillicothe, Shane McFarland of Phoenix, Ariz., Tammy Georgia of Middletown, Tina Groves of Middletown and Gina McFarland of Middletown.

W.C. 'Scoot' Phillips
W.C. "Scoot" Phillips, 66, of 320 Clearcreek-Franklin Road, Lebanon, Ohio, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Southview Hospital. He was born on June 9, 1934, in Wise County, Va., the son of Howard and Reba (Phillips) Kilburn. Mr. Phillips was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was owner and operator of M.R. Phillips as a concrete contractor for 50 years, retiring in 1996. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty (Caudill) Phillips; two sons, Mike Phillips, and his wife, Gail, of Franklin, and Ken Phillips, and his wife, Sue, of Middletown; a daughter, Connie Phillips of Franklin; a brother Bud Kilburn of Wise, Va.; grandchildren Valerie, Bridgett, Greg and Chris Phillips; great-grandchildren Haley and Allie Fisher; and three step-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services were concluded at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. Second St., Franklin. The Revs. Bud Kilburn and Eddie Kilburn officiated. Mary E. Rempe
Former Middletown area resident Mary Elizabeth Rempe, 75, of Oak Crest Village Retirement Community, Baltimore, Md., passed away Monday, June 12, 2000, at Oak Crest Village. She was born in Ashland, Ohio, on Sept. 29, 1924, to Paul and Luella (Scheibert) Rempe, but was raised in Middletown, Ohio. Ms. Rempe was formerly employed as the personnel manager of Hutzler Brothers Department Store in Towson, Md. She was a former member of the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Middletown. She was the devoted sister of the late Paul A. Rempe Jr She is survived by numerous cousins. Among them are Richard and Frank Scheibert of Middletown, Ohio, Mark Scheibert of Accekeek, Md., David Scheibert of Marshallville, Ga., Marilyn Hatfield of Middletown, Doris Thullen of Pittsburgh, Pa., Elizabeth Coate of Brooklyn, N.Y., Eleanor Skyllingstad of Fairfield, Ohio, Margaret Ann Suter of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Christine Turnbull of Toledo, Ohio, and James Rempe of Dayton, Ohio.

Willard Roe, 78, of Springboro, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was retired from Moorman Sand & Gravel with 30 years of service. Mr. Roe was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Gale Sue and Keith Nickell ofPreble County and Phyllis Ann Roe of Springboro; son and daughter-in-law, Larry W. and Brenda Roe of Springboro; a brother, Jack Roe of Walton, Ky.;10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viola R. Rogers
Mrs. Viola Ruth Rogers, 88, of 6650 Trenton-Franklin Road, Middletown, died Thursday morning, June 15, 2000, at the Franklin Ridge Nursing Home. She was born on Jan. 24, 1912, the daughter of John W. Handy and Cora E. (Hudspeth) Handy. Mrs. Rogers is survived by three daughters, Dolores Sample of Middletown, Patricia Jackson of Franklin and Betty Knopf of Parma, Ohio; two sons and a special daughter-in-law, William and Lois Rogers of Middletown and Robert Rogers of Aurora, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Rogers in 1986, and her parents.

Herbert A. Stewart
Herbert Agie Stewart, 80, of 305 Ross Ave., Cincinnati, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at the Mount Healthy Christian Home. He was born on June 12, 1920, in Kirby Knob, Ky., the son of Thomas Ivan and Della Francis (Powell) Stewart. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Stewart was employed by Miami Foundry as a molder for 33 years, retiring in 1976, and a lifelong member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Club and Middletown Sportsmen's Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ivan Stewart; and sisters Marie Wilson and Opal Stewart. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rosalyn (Rohde) Stewart; and two daughters, Joanne Marischen of Fairfield and Sandy Wimmer of Cincinnati.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. Second St., Franklin, with the Rev. Doug Sczerba officiating. Russell K. Taylor
Russell Keith Taylor, 44, of Fruitport, Mich., died Sunday, June 18, 2000. He was born on Nov. 15, 1955, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Mary (Noes) Taylor and M. Russell Taylor. He was a tool and die maker. He is survived by his father and stepmother, M. Russell and Linda Taylor of Fairfield, Ohio; his stepbrother, John O'Pry and family of New Lebanon, Ohio; his stepsister, Dana Gann and family of Batavia, Ohio; his fiancé, Vickie Smith of Grand Rapids, Mich.; his maternal uncle and aunt, Robert and Barbara Noes of Middletown, Ohio, and several cousins; paternal aunts and uncles, Patty and Jim Cornett of London, Ky., and Mildred and W, H, Hobbs of Atlanta, Ga. Russell was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Fern (Nichols) Noes; paternal grandparents, Clyde and Claire (Ritchie) Taylor; and his mother, Mary (Noes) Taylor.

Ronald Truster
Ronald "Zeke" Truster, 67, of Middletown, died Monday at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Hamilton, Oct. 10, 1932, and lived in the area all of his life. He worked for Armco Steel Inc. as a millwright and in maintenance in No. 2 open hearth, No. 4 coating and 94 annealing for 36 years before retiring in 1993. Mr. Truster was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a military police officer in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of Jacksonburg United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of VFW 3809 and a member of American Legion Post 218. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Hilda (Allspach) Truster and a son, Douglas Truster, in 1979. He is survived by a son, Phillip Truster; three grandchildren, Nicholas Truster, Jacqueline Truster and Audra Truster; a loving companion, Kathleen Gross; brothers, Warren Truster, Glen Truster, Merle Truster and Francis Truster; a sister, Ellen Essig and a former wife, Barbara Truster of Washington, D.C.

Louis J. Warmoth
Louis J. Warmoth, 75, of 705 Cleveland St., died Monday evening, June 12, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dayton. He was born in Blue Ball, Ohio, on Aug. 9, 1924, a son of Samuel and Rhoda (Peck) Warmoth. He graduated from Monroe High School and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked in power house maintenance at Diamond National (later Jefferson-Smurfit) for more than 35 years, retiring in 1987. Mr. Warmoth was a past president of the Eagles Lodge 528, where he served as chaplain of the Ritual Team; a life member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3809; a life member of the American Legion; life member of the Military Order of Cooties; served as treasurer of the Central Bowling League for more than 10 years; a member of Senior Citizens; and also was a member of the Citizens Committee that formed the Middletown Knothole Club. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Kerns) Warmoth; three daughters, Eunice Warmoth of West Alexandria, Brenda Buckett (husband Howard) of Trenton and Pat Richardson (husband Ray) of Wilmington; a stepdaughter, Judith Miller of Middletown; three stepsons, Scott Pieratt of Houston, Texas, James Pieratt of Middletown and Jock Pierman of Springboro; a sister, Violet Mehl of Middletown; three brothers, Sam Warmoth Jr. of Austin, Texas, Nelson Warmoth of Monroe and Donald Warmoth of Middletown; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; adopted stepsons Donald Lykins and Gordon Pieratt; three stepsisters, Norma Winkelman of Kettering, Ohio, Phyllis Schrieber of Farmersville, Ohio, and Wanda Mills of Coldwater, Ohio; and three stepbrothers, Cecil Hobbs of Middletown, Shelby Hobbs of West Milton and Grover Hobbs of Camden. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Verssie Warmoth; four sisters, Hazel Girard, Irene Clark, Barbara Denton and Naomi Wells; and a stepbrother, Wayne Hobbs.
