Mrs. Elizabeth A. Averdick, 85, of Middletown, died on Sunday morning, July 16, 2000, at her residence. She was morn in Middletown, Ohio on Nov. 14, 1914, to John and Louisa Bors. She was a homemaker, a member of Holy Family Parish, St. John's Church and WINGS. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Averdick in 1986, and a brother, John Bors. She traveled extensively with her husband, but her life was her family. Her special talent was making each of her children and grandchildren feel especially loved. Mrs. Averdick is survived by one son, Delbert Averdick of Bradenton, Fla.; two daughters, Patricia Dobler of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Stephanie Fay of San Diego, Calif.; three brothers, James BOrs of Middletown, Rudolf Bors of Palm Coast, Fla, and Fred Bors of Bellbrook, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Lisy of Monroe and Julia Martin of West Middletown; and six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
ARRANGEMENTS: Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, St. John's Church, with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.,m. at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.

Mary E. Hedger Brown
Mrs. Mary E. Hedger Brown, 89, of Middletown, passed away in Middletown on Friday, July 14, 2000. She was born in Poasttown, Ohio, on April 28, 1911, to Ernest Raymond and Marie Anna (Temple) Early. She was a lifelong Middletown resident. Mary was an accountant for the Middletown Civic Association/United Way and worked as a bookkeeper at Dohn's Hardware, Gillen Crow Pharmacy, Gross Lumber Co., and Clark, Shaffer Accounting Services. She also worked in the early family dairy business. She was a member of the GFWC: Women's Club of Port Charlotte, Fla. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Lee Hedger; her second husband, Philip Brown; her parents; a sister, Ernestine Woodrey; and an infant son, Richard Lee Hedger. She leaves a daughter, Nancy Jane Hedger (Harold D.) Owsley of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two grandchildren, Richard D. (Barbara) Owsley of Carlisle, Ohio., and Michelle M. (Owsley) Taylor of Middletown; and five great-grandchildren, Julie Owsley of Michigan, Danny Owsley of Carlisle, and Patrick Conrad, MaryAnn Conrad and Wesley Dean Taylor, all of Middletown.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 17, at Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lamar Ferrell officiating. Interment will be at Springboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home at 1500 Manchester Ave., Middletown.

Curtis Campbell Sr.
CAMDEN -- Curtis O. Campbell Sr., 83, of Camden, passed on into the loving arms of God on Tuesday, July 11, 2000. He was born on Nov. 16, 1916, in West Elkton, Ohio, Preble County. He was the youngest son of Walter and Flora Mae (Weaver) Campbell. He retired after 47 years of service from the Champion Paper Co. Mr. Campbell is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mabel; a son, Curtis (Lucy) Campbell Jr. of Florida, and a daughter-in-law, Gale Campbell of Middletown; three granddaughters, Sherry (Bob) Tibbs and Marsha (Scott) Carpenter, both of Middletown and Debra (Mark) Eve of Arizona; four great-grandchildren, Randy (Alicia) Robinson, Greg (Lana) Robinson, Brandi Carpenter and Erica Eva; four great-great-grandchildren, Mathew, Taylor, Joey and Austin; a step-great-granddaughter, Tosha; along with dearest family friends, Terry and Dorenda Lohrey. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Michael Piersall; a brother, Lucian; and sisters Mae, Mildred and Opal.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services for Curtis O. Campbell will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 13, at the Camden First Southern Baptist Church, 35 N. Liberty St., Camden, with the Rev. David A. Chapman
David A. Chapman, 74, of Middletown, died at Middletown Regional Hospital Wednesday morning, July 12, 2000. He was born on Nov. 17, 1924, in Middletown, the son of Benjamin F. and Alvina Meyer Chapman. Mr. Chapman was employed at Armco Steel Co. for 38 years until his retirement in 1986 from the open hearth department as the senior melter. He was a member of American Legion Post 218, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3809 and the Elks and Eagles Lodges. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. Mr. Chapman is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David C. and Pam Chapman of Middletown; two grandsons, David M. Chapman of Middletown and Travis S. of Indianapolis, Ind.; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Chapman of Casper, Wyo.; a sister, Jane Thomas of Toledo, Ohio; and a special friend and companion, Peg Wombold of Middletown. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Chapman, in 1992.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas B. Mellott officiating. Mary Margaret DeAloia
FRANKLIN -- Mary Margaret DeAloia, 85, formerly of 9032 Deardoff Road, Franklin, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at 11:25 a.m. in Wood Glenn Nursing Home. She was born in Bethlehem, Pa., on Dec. 4, 1914, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Barath. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Frank J. DeAloia, in 1987 and a granddaughter, Megan. She was employed by Sears Department Store at the Dayton Mall for more than 20 years in the cashier's office. Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Williamson and her husband Ted of Greens Fork, Ind.; a stepson, Nelson DeAloia and wife Betty of Brookville; a brother, Billy Barath, and a sister, Lizzy Vaggot, both of West Virginia; three grandchildren, Toni, Michael and Linda and three great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. Second St., Franklin. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pearl M. Dixon
Pearl Mae Dixon, 93, of Birdseye, Ind., died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, at the Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Ind. She was born on March 17, 1907, in Wickliffe, Ind., to David Crocket Lane and Phoebe Lane. She was united in marriage to Mansfield M. Dixon on April 20, 1930, in Birdseye, Ind. Mrs. Dixon was a homemaker and a cook at the Birdseye High School on the 1950s and 19602. She was a member of the New Hope General Baptist Church in Birdseye. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mansfield M. Dixon, who died on March 3, 1967; three brothers, Roscoe, Everett and Robert Lane; and two sisters, Bertha Lyons and Dorothy Critchfield. She is survived by two sons, Glenn F. (sife Ida) Dixon of Middletown, Ohio, and Ray M. (wife Anita) Dixon of Woodstock, Ga.; a brother, Omer Lane of Jasper, Ind.; three grandchildren, Michelle Hirschinger of Carmel, Ind., Mark Dixon of Indianapolis, Ind., and David Dixon of Troy, Mich.; five great-grandchildren, Whitney and Tyler Hirschinger, both of Carmel, Ind., and Christopher Andreas and Alexandra Dixon, all of Troy, Mich.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis Jean Dunaway
Phyllis Jean "Bubbles" (White) Dunaway, 61, a resident of Hamilton, passed away Friday, July 14, 2000, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Gilbert; one son, Robert E. Dunaway; two brothers, Ralph (Maria) White and Glen (Gloria) White; three sisters, Barbara (John) Davis, Linda (Mike) Boles and Norma White; four stepsons; five stepdaughters; five grandchildren; one great-grandson and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Dunaway, July 11, 2000; her parents, William and Dorothy (Hornsby) White; one daughter, Tonja S. Henry, March 3, 1979 and one brother, William White Jr.

Elizabeth M. Fay, 89, died Friday, July 14, 2000, at Charlestown, Ind. She was a native of Middletown and retired after 49 years as a teacher with the Middletown City School System. She is survived by one niece, Jacquelyn A. Fay of Louisville, Ky. She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Fay, her mother, the former Sarah Stauber, and her brother, John Fay.

Glendora A. Fisher
Glendora A. (Post) Fisher, 90, formerly of Middletown, died Monday, July 10, 2000, at the Mason Health Care Center. She was born on Dec. 15, 1909, in Middletown, the daughter of Ernest Stanley Post and Anna Elmira (Druley) Post. Mrs. Fisher had formerly been employed as a cafeteria worker in the Middletown City School System. She is survived by three daughters, Donna Louis-Kamp of Maineville, Marcia Manning of Mason and Sandra Cooke of Trenton; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, Frank Post of Rock Hill, S.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Arthur Fisher in 1992; a son, Dan Allen Fisher; and her parents.

Edward R. Hall
Edward R. Hall, 58, of Middletown, died, Friday, July 14, 2000, at his residence. He was born in Middletown, Ohio, on Jan. 22, 1942, the son of the late Deward Hall and Virginia M. (Bailey) Hall. Mr. Hall attended Monroe High School and served in the U.S. Navy for nine years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was successfully self-employed in the oil business in Ohio for many years. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan J. (Stevens) Hall; two sons, Edward R. Hall Jr., and his wife, Deborah, of Middletown, and Michael J. Hall, and his wife, Pamela J. Hall of Xenia, Ohio; a daughter, Dawn Rose of Middletown; six grandchildren, Jeannie Marie, Justin, Jeremy, Jason, Zachary, all of Middletown, and Ethan Miles Hall of Xenia; brothers and sisters, Marilyn McKenney (Charles) of Middletown, Donald D. James Herron
James (Tim) Herron, 43, of Franklin Township, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, in Michigan. He was born on Oct. 23, 1956, in Middletown, Ohio, the son of Shirley Herron and Ella (Stamper) Herron. Mr. Herron served in the Army. He was employed by Alcan Aluminum Corp. as a metallurgist. Surviving are his mother, Ella Herron; a son, Brandon S. Herron of Monroe, Ohio; a daughter, Emily Rossi of Middletown; two brothers, Michael E. (Linda) Herron of Middletown and George R. (Kathy) Herron of Franklin Township, a half-brother, Fred H. (Joann) Cranford of Middletown; two sisters, Marketta S. (John) Egelston of Franklin Township and Shirley A. (Robert) Skeens of Middletown; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Shirley Herron on Feb. 18, 1994.

Mrs. Martha M. Hillard, 87, of Willow Knoll Nursing Home, passed away Monday, July 10, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital She was born in Germantown, Ohio, on May 22, 1913, and lived in the Middletown area for 16 years. Mrs. HIllard had formerly worked in food service at the Montgomery County Home and was also employed as a proof-reader for McCall's Magazine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Riley M. Hillard in 1969; a beloved son, Ronald E. Hillard in 1994; and her parents, Adam William and Amelia May (Brough) Eagle. Surviving are two daughters, Lynda Clemmons and Wanda Curtiss, both of Middletown; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Mrs. Donna Rae Hunt, 59, of Springboro, died Thursday morning, July 13, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born on Aug. 15, 1940, in Means, Ky., the daughter of Omar Collins and Rose (Combs) Collins. Mrs. Hunt was married to Paul Eldon Hunt on Oct. 12, 1957. She is survived by her husband, Paul Eldon Hunt; a son, Karl List Hunt; a stepbrother, William (wife Collette) Foist; a niece, Valorie Foist; and a nephew, Shaun Foist, all of Middletown; and numerous friends and relatives.

Gladys G. Hymer, 77, of Middletown, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born March 22, 1923, in Palmeroy, Ohio, the daughter of Ross Ash and Delia (Chasteen) Ash. Mrs. Hymer was a member of the Nazarene Church in Hamilton. She is survived by four daughters, Carolyn (husband, Homer) Finch of Trenton, Connie Yenser of Trenton, Darlene (husband, Harold) Jones of Summerfield, Fla. and Melissa (husband, Rodney) Began of Trenton; four sons, McKinley (wife, Barb) Hymer III of Franklin, Ted (wife, Patty) Hymer of Trenton, Steve (wife, Mary) Hymer of Middletown and Mark (wife, Regina) Hymer of Washington, D.C,; two sisters, Thelma McDaniel of Middletown and Georgia Hatton of Hamilton; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, McKinley Hymer Jr., in 1994; grandson, Kevin R. Finch, in 1989; sister, Erna Sparks; brothers, Cecil Ash and Orbin Ash and her parents.

Inez Ledington
Mrs. Inez Ledington, 79, of Jonesville, Va., formerly of Punta Gorda, Fla., and the Hamilton, Ohio, area, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, in Jonesville. She was retired from the Champion Paper Mill in Hamilton, Ohio. Mrs. Ledington is survived by her husband, James L. Ledington of Jonesville, Va.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be Saturday, July 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Jonesville, Va., where funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday. On Monday, July 17, graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at the Butler County Memorial Park in Trenton, Ohio.

Rufus Mack
Rufus Mack, 72, of Middletown, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was the youngest child of the late Randolph and Myrtis Mack. He was born on March 22, 1928, in Statham, Ga., and was a life-long resident of Middletown, Ohio. Rufus was united in Holy Matrimony to Hazel Arnold, and to this union, nine children were born. He confessed Christ at an early age, and was baptized by his grandfather, the Rev. Harrison Vinson, at Barbers Creek Baptist Church in Statham, Ga., Rufus was a dedicated employee of Armco Steel, Inc., retiring after 40 years of loyal service, and a member of New Era Baptist Church. He was an avid sportsman. He loved to fish and hunt and he took pride in working his garden and sharing the produce with friends and neighbors. Rufus touched so many lives with his sincere concern of others and his love of family and fiends. Those who loved him and the ones he loved will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rufus Stewart Mack; a daughter, Nancy M. Mack; five brothers, Benjamin, Dennis, James, Randolph D., and Charles; and two sisters, Magnolia Lockley and Ruby Mack. He leaves to cherish and respect his memory, his loving wife, Hazel; two sons, Lawrence (Rhonda) Mack of London, Ohio, and Christopher Mack of Middletown, Ohio; five daughters, Brenda (Booker) Vann and Donna Mack, both of Middletown, Linda Bass of Columbus, Ohio, Yasmin R. Nathaniel McCoy Sr.
Nathaniel G. McCoy Sr., 75, of Middletown, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born on Jan. 9, 1925, in Carrollton, Ga., to the late Emerson and Genie McCoy. He was a member of New Life Christian Center and was employed at Armco Steel Co. for 40 years. Nathaniel leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Erma McCoy; three sons, Nathaniel G. (Eloise) McCoy Jr. of Middletown, Dale "Bruddy" (Toni) McCoy of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Keith McCoy of Middletown; three daughters, Jacqulyn Thompson of Middletown, Deborah (Ronnie) Fleetwood of Dayton and Erma "Pat" McCoy of Atlanta, Ga; two brothers, Herschel McCoy of Middletown and Joe McCoy of Carrollton, Ga.; a sister, Louise Palmore of Middletown; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of neices, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Richard Donald McFarland
Richard Donald McFarland, 62, of 3891 Meadowlark St., died Saturday, July 15, 2000. He was born in West Union on Sept. 20, 1937, the son of Lorain and Evelyn (Culbertson) McFarland. He graduated from Springboro High School, class of 1955, and for the past two years was a captain with Bern's Security. Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Kenny McFarland, in 1997, and a step daughter, Diana Sperry, in 1995. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Bunny; three sons, Brian McFarland and wife Stephanie and Jimmy McFarland and wife, both of Middletown, and Johnny McFarland and wife of Jeffersonville; a daughter, Lora Creager and husband Steve of Franklin; a brother, Harold McFarland and wife Betty of Highland Ranch, Colo.; a sister, Norma Spencer of Hamilton; nine grandchildren; four stepsons, Jim Brewer and wife Sharon of Powder Springs, Ga., Ken Brewer and wife Shirley of Carlisle, Greg Brewer and wife Judy of Trenton and Michael Brewer and wife Jeanette of Gratis; 17 stepgrandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Clifford Mills
FRANKLIN -- Clifford Mills, 50, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2000, at his residence. He was born on March 4, 1950, in Barbourville, Ky., the son of Flem D. Mills and Ruby Jean (Shelton) Mills. He was a former employee of Monarch Marking Co., with 32 years of service. Mr. Mills was a member of the Dryden Road Pentecostal Church in Moraine, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Eastern Star Blue Lodge 55, Free & Accepted Masons in Franklin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Jean Mills; and a sister, Rosella Benge. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Millie; a daughter, Shannon Bolinger of Eaton, Ohio; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jonathon Mills, at home, and Ray and Jenny Mills of Miamisburg; his father, Flem D. Mills, and his wife, Loretta of Barbourville, Ky., two sisters, Jeanie Lauber of Beavercreek and Kathy Parden of Dayton; two stepsisters, Vickie Moore and Kim Terrell; three stepbrothers, Tim, Donnie and Dale Phipps, all of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Larra and Chelsea Bolinger and Amanda and Emily Mills; and several nieces and nephews.

Naomi F. Roberts
Mrs. Naomi Faye Roberts, 69, of Middletown, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born on Oct. 27, 1930, in Ashland, Ky., and was a lifelong Middletown resident. She was a housewife. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her parents, Elisha and Gertrude Abner; and two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Ivor Roberts; four sons, Larry Roberts (Kathi) and Ivor Roberts Jr. (Nam), both of Middletown, Tim Roberts (Karen) of Franklin, Ohio, and John Roberts (Jeannie) of Winter Haven, Fla.; two daughters, Beverly Chandler of Monroe, Ohio, and Deborah Roberts of Hamilton, Ohio; a brother, Gary Abner (Mabel) of Jacksonburg, Ohio; three sisters, Beulah Keeton of Phoenix, Ariz., Jane Meechum (Bob) of Jacksonburg and Sue Kinner (Harry) of West Middletown; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frances Robinson
Mrs. Frances Robinson, 86, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2000. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 15, 1914, and had lived here since 1950. Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Menz. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Hubert Robinson; three daughters, Judy Moyer (Bob) of Orange Park, Fla., Betty Wolfe (Jon) of Middletown and Susan Short (Tim) of Trenton; a sister, Marian Doerger of Cincinnati; a brother, Fern Menz of Fresno, Calif.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Nora V. Shumway
EATON -- Nora Virginia Shumway, 79, of Eaton, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford, Ohio. Mrs. Shumway was born on Sept. 5, 1920, in Kenton County, Ky., the daughter of Ira A. and Edith L. (Cody) Moak. She married Norman W. Shumway on June 28, 1939, in Covington, Ky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James A. Moak, Edgar Moak and Floyd Moak; and a sister, Ema Catherine Horn. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Norman W. Shumway of Eaton; her children, Larry A. (Judy) Shumway of Centerville, Ohio, Linda L. (Edwin) Howard of Eaton, Gary A. (Bridgett) Shumway of Douglasville, Ga., Michael Shumway of Fairborn, Ohio, Sandra S. (Reggie) Jordan, David J. Shumway, Mary Worley, Norma J. Miller and Faith I. (Jared) Vincent, all of Tampa, Fla., Diane (Greg) Golden of Brandon, Fla., Daniel A. (Donna) Shumway of Maryland, and Martha L. (Lee) Barbee of Pompay, Fla.; two sisters, Ina Mae Rouse of Florida and Lois Bloemer of Covington, Ky.; 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Floyd H. Sweney Sr.
LEBANON -- Floyd Harold Sweney Sr., 76, of 5392 Springboro Road, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at 3:55 a.m. at Hill Spring Health Care Center in Springboro. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, on Nov. 23, 1923, the son of Howard E. and Hazel (Hill) Sweney. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Sweney retired from General Motors as a schedule clerk after 35 years of employment and from the Madison Township Fire Department following 25 years of service in 1975. Preceding him in death were his wife, Anna Beatrice Sweney in 1990; his parents; a brother, Wilbur Sweney; and a grandchild, Jason Andrew. Surviving are seven children, Saundra P. Tompkins of Hillsboro, Connie Beatrice Ditmer of Phoenix, Ariz., William H. Sweney of Colorado Springs, Colo., Floyd H. Sweney Jr. and Eddie D. Sweney, both of Dayton, Keith Alan Sweney of Middletown and Michael Jay Sweney of Lebanon; a brother, Howard O. Sweney of Lebanon; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Helen Thompson
FRANKLIN -- Mrs. Helen (Abney) Thompson, 75, of 14 Lynn St., passed away Sunday, July 16, 2000, at her residence. She was born on April 18, 1925, in Jackson, Ky., the daughter of Fred and Ersie Lou (Lakes) Abney. Mrs. Thompson was employed at the McMillan Factory in Centerville for 25 years and also worked at Warren County Community Services as a cook, retiring in 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard, in 1998; a daughter, Lois Tooley; brothers Jimmy, Ed and Floyd Abney; and a grandson, Kevin Thompson. She is survived by her sons William H. Thompson of Franklin, Anthony E. Thompson, and his wife, Linda, of Kettering and Bryan K. Thompson, and his wife, Juanita, of Dayton; daughters, Delores Stone, and husband, Samuell, of Franklin, Phyllis Lewis, and husband, Garmon, of Miamisburg, and Karen Bates, and husband, Harold Dean, of London, Ky.; brothers Ruby Abney, and wife, Mary, of Goshen, Ind., Ronald Abney, and wife, May, of Franklin, and Benjamin Abney of Franklin; sisters Eileen Franks and Della Mae Shockley, both of Carlisle; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Patricia Jean Wright
Patricia Jean (Sample) Wright, 55, of Walpole, Mass., formerly of Carlisle, died Friday, July 14, 2000, at the Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston. She was born in Tucson, Ariz., Jan. 21, 1945 and lived 25 years in the Carlisle community. She worked for several years as a hairstylist at a hair salon in Hanover, Mass. Mrs. Wright was a member of the North Palm Beach, Fla., tennis team, was a graduate of Carlisle High School and was very well-known for being active in many sports. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Sample (Hasselbach) and grandparents, Ethel and George Hasselbach and Milda and Frank Sample. She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Wright of Walpole; three daughters, Nicole J. Masemer of West Chester, Pa. and Kathy Wright and Nancy Hines, both of Massachusetts; a son, David Wright of Massachusetts; her father, J. Edward Sample of Franklin; a brother, William Sample of Franklin and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lester Alderson
Lester W. Alderson, 82, of 2140 S. Breiel Blvd., died Saturday morning at the Willow Knoll Convalescent Center. He was born in Bath County, Ky., March 22, 1918, a son of Elijah and Agnes (Meeks) Alderson, and lived in this area most of his life. He had also worked for Armco Steel for over 39 years, retiring from the open hearth as a ladleman leader. Mr. Alderson served in the Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Clara (Carpenter) Alderson; two daughters, Judy Hall (husband, Robert) of Batavia and Shirley Johnson Sidenstick (husband, Homer) of Trotwood; six grandchildren, Scott Johnson, Todd Johnson, Sherry VanCamp, Jennifer Drummond, Rick Mayabb and Andrew Veilleux; eight great-grandchildren and three half-brothers, Jack, Ray and Frank Alderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; by a son, James in 1961 and by a sister, Betty Ruth Lewis.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Woodside Cemetery Scattering Garden, with Chaplain Linda Jones officiating.

Mary Annavedder
Mary E. Annavedder, 93, died Sunday, July 2, 2000. Mrs. Annavedder was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Annavedder, in 1997. She is survived by two sisters, Helen Phelps of Trenton and Alma Goodin of Corbin, Ky.; a brother, Bazil Jackson of Bimble, Ky., and many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, with visitation one hour prior at the Jon Deitloff Funeral Centre, 4389 Spring Grove Ave., Cincinnati. Interment is in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Alvin Back
Alvin "Al" Back, 69, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2000, after suffering from a heart attack, while working in his garden. He was born on Jan. 19, 1931, in Breathitt County, Ky., to the late Cleveland and Eunice (Clemons) Back. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Back retired from the Dayton Power & Light Co. in 1992 after 18 years of service. He was a member of the Salem Church of God in Clayton, Ohio, Miamisburg American Legion Post 165 and the DP&L Retirees Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Back, earlier this year. Among his survivors are his wife of 21 years, Carol Sue (Salyer) Back; a daughter, Karen (Larry) Lovell of Bellbrook, Ohio; a son, Gregory of Lexington, Ky.; two grandchildren, Nathan and Stephaine Lovell of Bellbrook; and three sisters, Janice Back of Gratis, Dorothy (Gene) Donson of Eaton and Aileen (Eddie) Garrett of Middletown.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Dalton Funeral Home, corner of Ohio 4 and Weaver Road in Germantown, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Austin E. Sowers will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Poasttown, Ohio. Alvin is dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
