Gerald Burton
HAMILTON -- Gerald Burton, 70, of Hamilton, died there Monday, July 3, 2000. He was born in Middletown on Nov. 3, 1929, and was a lifelong Middletown resident. Mr. Burton was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Carroll Burton; and his parents, John Wesley Burton and Alta Mae Burton. Surviving are two sisters, Irene Guinn and Jewel Shrout, both of Middletown; five brothers including a twin brother, Earl Burton, of Middletown, and Fred Burton of Clarksville, Ind., Velmer Burton of Middletown, Harold Burton of Allardt, Tenn., and Leonard Burton of London, Ky.; and various nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodside Cemetery, with the Rev. Chris Gingrich officiating. Arrangements are by Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home

Idaleah Cramer
Mrs. Idaleah Cramer, 92, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away in Columbus on Wednesday, July 5, 2000. She was born in Columbus on Feb. 1, 1908, to Lawrence and Jean Lowenstein. Mrs. Cramer was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Fred B. Cramer in 1983; a son, Bruce Cramer; and her parents. She leaves a daughter, Lois Unger of Columbus; four grandchildren, Jonathan Alpers of Chicago, Ill., Jacqueline Alpers of Tucson, Ariz., and Jeffrey Cramer and Bruce Cramer, both of Middletown; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Bessel of Middletown.
ARRANGEMENTS: There will be no visitation. Graveside services will at 3 p.m. today, July 7, at Woodside Cemetery, with Rabbi Amy Greenbaum officiating. Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

James H. Dailey
CARLISLE -- James H. Dailey, 82, of Carlisle, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Lebanon Country Manor. A native of Watkins Glen, N.Y., he was born on Jan. 25, 1918, to the late James and Florence (Blackburn) Dailey Sr. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in both Germany and Northern France. He received both the Silver and Bronze Stars and other service medals. Mr. Dailey retired from the General Motor Harrison Radiator Division in 1985 after 36 years of service. He was an avid golfer and played with the GM retirees at Riverbend. He was preceded in death by a son, William E. Dailey in 1979. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Lucy (Abrams) Dailey; a daughter, Patricia Weber of Carlisle; three sons, James R. (Diann) Dailey of Franklin, John (Carol) Dailey of Germantown and Ronald Dailey of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Madlyn Woodard of Greensboro, N.C., and Marie Barber of Burdett, N.Y.; and a brother, Charlie Dailey of Tennessee.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. (two hours prior to the service) at the Dalton Funeral Home, corner of Ohio 4 and Weaver Road, Germantown, where the funeral service will be held Sunday at 6 p.m.

Johnny Davis
Johnny Davis, 51, of Baker, Fla., passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Crestview Medical Center in Crestview, Fla. Mr. Davis was a native of Quicksand, Ky., and had lived in Okaloosa County, Fla., since 1980. He attended grade school and two years of high school in Madison Township, Middletown, and graduated from Breathitt High School in Jackson, Ky. Mr. Davis was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was employed as an aircraft mechanic with the 919th S.O.W. at Duke Field for the last 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Molly (Durbin) Davis; two brothers, Bill and Kermit Davis; and a sister, Irma Mattox of Middletown. Survivors include his loving wife, Jennifer Davis of Baker, Fla.; his children including a son, John John Davis of Bruton, Ala., and daughters Courtney Renee Davis and Kathy Davis, both of Baker, Fla.; a granddaughter, Ashley; two brothers, Bob and Larry Davis, both of Middletown, Ohio; and seven sisters, Sadie Robinson of Trenton, Ohio, Sue Carpenter of Jackson, Ky., Edith King and Ruth King, both of Middletown, Glenath Dalton of Franklin, Ohio, Jean Miller of Missouri and Judy Hall of Middletown.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services were concluded at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at the Brackney Funeral Home chapel in Crestview, Fla.

Arbutus Duncil
Arbutus (Gumm) Duncil, 62, of Middletown, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Hospice of Dayton, where she had been a patient for one week. She was born June 15, 1938, in Colson, Ky., and had lived in Middletown since 1947. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sheridan and Vestie (Napier) Duncil. She is survived by three sisters, Mary Radziszewski of East Point Mich., Eva Lee Turner and husband Frank of Middletown, and Inis Mae Ward of Middletown; three brothers, Floren Duncil and wife Grace of Middletown, Daniel Van Duncil and wife Chelcie of Franklin, and Sheridan Duncil and wife Janet of Monroe, and many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown. Services will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Art Wilson officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home.

Ben J. Dykes
Ben J. "Bennie" Dykes, 64, of Roachdale, Ind., formerly of Middletown, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at the St. Vincent Carmel Hospital in Carmel, Ind. He was born on Aug. 23, 1935, in Middletown, the son of James Everett Dykes and Elsie (Coburn) Dykes. An Air Force veteran, boxer and artist, Ben leaves behind a host of friends from coast to coast. For the past 15 years he was employed as farm manager at the Hobby Horse Farms in Carmel, Ind. Along with his love for his God, Ben's passions were portrait painting and animals. Bennie truly was a legend in his own time, full of charisma, quiet power and a gentle spirit. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary E. Dykes; two daughters, Julianna Officer and Kristianna Dykes, both of Dayton, Ohio; three sons, Jon Dykes, Ben Dykes Jr. and Daniel Dykes, all of Dayton, Ohio; six grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy Ruter and Deborah Cretors, both of Middletown; three brothers, Ronald L. Dykes and James C. Dykes Sr., both of Middletown and Donald L. Dykes of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Dykes was preceded in death by his parents.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 14, at the Stratford Heights Church of God, Middletown, with the Rev. Walter Watkins officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service time Friday at the church. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.

Lisa M. Evans
Lisa Marie Evans, 31, of Loveland, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash, Ohio. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 29, 1969. Mrs. Evans was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Evans; daughter of Ronnie Proffitt and Pamela Spurgeon; mother of Thomas Evans Jr. and Ryan Evans; stepdaughter of Alice Proffitt; sister of Regina Whittle; granddaughter of Ralph and Mary Spurgeon and Pauline Holste and the late Clemond Proffitt; and also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends may call at the EC Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main St. (Ohio 125), Amelia, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. where funeral services will follow Saturday, July 8, at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery.

Edith V. Harkrader
Mrs. Edith Violet Harkrader, 99, of Mount Pleasant Retirement Village, died there Tuesday evening, July 4, 2000. She was born on Aug. 26, 1900, in Falmouth, Ky., the daughter of Albert and Ida Hannah Grimes. She had lived in Middletown from 1905 until 1939, when she moved to Monroe, Mich. She and her late husband, Edwin Harkrader, operated a newspaper distributing agency in Monroe, Mich. After her husband's death in 1971, she moved to the Mount Pleasant Retirement Village in 1973. While in Middletown, Mrs. Harkrader was a mezzo soprano with the Frank Simon Armco Band. She was a member of the Prosser Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Middletown Music Club. Since 1976, she has been a member of the Blue Ball Presbyterian Church. She is survived by three nieces, Lois Harbin of Middletown, Margaret Beifuss of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Joan Danner of Franklin; and two nephews, Robert Grimes of Middletown and John B. Raines of Monroe.
ARRANGEMENTS: Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Woodside Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael Evans officiating. Funeral arrangements are by Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home.

Helen M. Hauser
Mrs. Helen M. Hauser, 78, of West Alexandria, Ohio, died Monday, July 3, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born on March 25, 1922, in Middletown, the daughter of Harry Clendening and Ellen (Carpenter) Clendening. Mrs. Hauser was a member of the Towne Boulevard Church of God and active in the nursing home and jail ministries. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Homer; two daughters, Judy (husband David) Blevins of Springboro and Betty Corwin of Carlisle; a son, William (wife Julidta) Hauser of Eaton; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas Kenneth Hauser; and a brother, Harry "Bud" Clendening Jr.

Lois Heizer
TRENTON -- Mrs. Lois Heizer, 52, of 6557 Sycamore Road, died Sunday afternoon, July 9, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on Aug. 7, 1947, a daughter of Robert and Pauline Winkler. Mrs. Heizer had worked as a hairdresser for seven years, then as a press operator in the die room at Fisher Body. Later, she was employed by Aeronca Manufacturing. She was an active member of the Community Christian Church. She is survived by her husband, Garnett R. Heizer; a daughter, Angela Davish of Trenton; a son, Alan Heizer of Trenton; her parents, Robert and Pauline Winkler of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Jacob and Casey Davish and Alan and Luke Heizer; two sisters, Sherry Ann Marcum of Ocala, Fla., and Sheila Lunsford of Sunman, Ind.; and two brothers, Roger Winkler of Oxford and Jimmy Winkler of Hamilton.

Mildred Helton
Mildred Pauline (Beachler) Helton, 69, of Oakdale, Tenn., formerly of Middletown, died Saturday, July 1, 2000 at Harriman Hospital in Harriman, Tenn. She was born in Middletown, Aug. 12, 1930. She was a 1948 graduate of Middletown High School. She also graduated from Miami Jacobs Business College. She was an accountant and co-owner with her husband of their family business. Previously, she had worked as a nutritionist for Morgan County Agriculture Extension Agency. She had been a member of the Aeronca Air Scouts during World War II. She was a Girl Scout leader. She was a longstanding member of the White Oak Baptist Church of Oakdale, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was an active participant in the women's ministry of the church. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Carl Helton; sons, Steve, Mark (Tammy), and Thomas (Terry); daughters, Christine Carter and Julie (Rickey) Comer, all of Oakdale, Tenn.; a brother, Richard (Ardath) Beachler of Middletown, an aunt, Lillie Anders of Dayton, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert H. and Rachel M. Beachler; a son, Danny Eugene Helton, and a brother, Robert D. Beachler.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the White Oak Baptist Church, Oakdale, Tenn., with services being held immediately afterward. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Pine Orchard Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Schubert Funeral Home of Wartburg, Tenn.

Berniece M. Henne
Mrs. Berniece M. Henne, 82, of Columbus, Ohio, died suddenly Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Grant Hospital in Columbus. She was born on Dec. 27, 1917, in Temperanceville, Ohio, to John and Stella Slevin. Mrs. Henne was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 56 years, Leo M. Henne, and a beloved son, David L. Henne. Survivors include daughters Marilyn (Kenneth) Patrick of Middletown and Sharon (Robert) Samuelson; sons Michael (Madelaine) Henne and Eric (Jennifer) Henne; grandchildren Laura (John) Ryan, John and Kyle Patrick, Christian Henne and Amanda (Jason) Lee, Nathan and Philip Samuelson, and Ryan Henne; brothers Jack (Alice) and Francis (Mabel) Slevin of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and nieces, nephews and good friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Mass of Christian Burial was concluded at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Christ the King Church, 2770 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Troy, Ohio. A visitation was held Tuesday, July 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Egan-Ryan Funeral Home East Chapel, 4019 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus.

Bruce E. Hennig
Bruce E. "Pappy" Hennig, 58, of West Chester died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton. He was born in Hackensack, N.J., on Nov. 26, 1941 and he lived in the area for four years. He was a painter for Powell Painting and a truck driver for Neal Supply. Mr. Hennig is survived by two sons, Bruce Edward Hennig Jr., of East Rutherford, N.J., and Edward Bruce Hennig of Miamisburg; one daughter, Georgetta Davis of Miamisburg; several grandchildren, Brandy Rose Davis of Miamisburg and Kassandra Hennig, Rosalie Hennig and Mark Hennig, all of East Rutherford, N.J; two brothers, Richard Cook and his wife Pat of Lyndhurst, N.J, and Chuck Burg of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three sisters, Jacqueline Pavich, Margaret Cook and Katherine McLaughlin; and two step grandchildren, Brittany Davis and Chelsea Davis, both of Miamisburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Wilkey (1988); and sister, Joan Labeur.

Betty E. Hill
TRENTON -- Mrs. Betty E. Hill, 77, of Trenton died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born on April 24, 1923, in Cincinnati, the daughter of Lafayette and Mayme (Soull) Highley. Mrs. Hill was a maker of porcelain dolls for many, many years. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always had time for each and every family member as well as always being there for her friends, no matter when or where she was needed. Betty's home was always open to all. She was always there with a cup of coffee, ready to listen to anyone who needed her. She will be greatly missed by many, many people. Surviving are her husband, Donald E. Hill of Trenton; two sons, Robert E. Hill of Dallas, and Donald W. Hill of Trenton; two daughters, Gwendolyn (Russell) Wilson of Trenton and Bonnie (Terry) Stahl of Goshen, Ohio; a brother, George (Katherine) Highley of Carlisle; three sisters, Ethel Proctor, Dorothy (Dick) Richeson and Alma Roark, all of Middletown; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, three brothers and two sisters.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doug Van Nest officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruth Jackson
Mrs. Ruth (Routson) Jackson, 86, of Middletown, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Piqua, Ohio, on June 10, 1914, and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Jackson was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was also an avid golfer and belonged to the Wildwood Golf Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Routson. She leaves her husband of 52 years, John Jackson; daughters Sally Bach, and her husband, Sonny, of Middletown, Sheri Estes, and her husband, Dean, of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Susan Jackson of Park Hills, Ky.; three grandchildren, John and Marielle Estes and Justin Bach; great-grandchildren Alexandra Estes and baby girl Estes; and two sisters, Jean Graft and Mary Rita Wilch.

James P. Jones
James Philip Jones, 46, of Latonia, Ky., died there Sunday, July 2, 2000. He was born in Middletown, Ohio, on Aug. 15, 1953. Mr. Jones served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was the Dog Warder for Kenton County, Ky. He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Wade Jones. Survivors include his father, James A. Jones, and his mother, Barbara J. (Lowe) Jones; two brothers, David Lee Jones and Michael Dailey Jones; a son, James Philip Jones Jr.; and several aunts and uncles.

Mildred A. Jones
Mrs. Mildred A. Jones, 99, of Middletown, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Garden Manor Extended Care Center. She was born in Middletown on Jan. 28, 1901, to Adam and Emma (Gress) Weishaar. Mildred was employed by Armco Steel Corp. and the Telephone Co. before retiring from the Manchester Hotel as a switchboard operator in 1966. On Feb. 3, 1923, she married Simon L. Jones. He preceded her in death in 1944. Mildred was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a 75-year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was the Mother of the Year in 1980 at the Middletown Senior Citizens, where she enjoyed playing cards and dancing. She is survived by two sons, W. Ben (Louise) Jones of Morristown, Tenn., and Donald (Barbara) Jones of Marietta, Ohio; two daughters, Elinor (Jim) Harris of Middletown and Carolyn (Robert) Garnett of Hamilton; nine grandchildren, Kathy Hadley, Mike Harris, Susan Harris, Leslie Jones, Jennifer Clark, Robert Jones, Susannah Jones, Kimberly Patt and Christopher Garnett; and six great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Keeny officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 to 11:30 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will follow at Woodside Cemetery.

Patricia A. Newcomb
Patricia Ann Newcomb, 66, of Hamilton, died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday at Fort Hamilton Hospital. She was born in Jackson, Ky., on May 5, 1934, the daughter of James Hargis and Julia (Roark) Hensley. She was educated in the Jackson (Ky.) schools. On Oct. 30, 1954 she married Robert L. Newcomb in Jackson, Ky. She enjoyed her home and working in her garden. Mrs. Newcomb is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Darlene Sparks and her husband Brad of Sebring, Fla., Michael Newcomb and his wife Jeannie of Acworth, Ga., Judy Newcomb of Hamilton, Rich Allan Newcomb of Lemon Township; one brother, Hugh Hensley of Oregon; one sister, Linda Prez of Oregon; one granddaughter, Rhiannon Dorn and one great granddaughter, Madelyn Dorn, both of Cartersville, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, John Hensley.

Ola Perry
Ola Mae Perry, 81, of 504 Aberdeen Drive, died Saturday, July 8, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Blairs Mills, Ky., Feb. 20, 1919, a daughter of Thomas Martin and Cora (Easterling) Collins. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Jolly 60s. She is survived by two daughters, Vernita Clark (husband, Jim) and Janet Bailey (husband, Charles), both of Middletown; five grandchildren, Scott Bailey (Sabine) of Lebanon, Rachel Witt (David) of Portland, Ore., David Clark (Christin) of Cleveland, Gary Bailey (Kathy) of Middletown and Rebecca Slusher (Scott) of Landen; eight great-grandchildren and two sisters, Ruth Johnson and Helen Leukhardt. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Corbett Perry; a son, Thomas Perry; a daughter in infancy, Marlene Perry; and three sisters, Betty Callahan and two in infancy.

Michael J. Plumbo, 51, of Middletown, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. The Middletown native was born here on Nov. 12, 1948, the son of James V. and Joey M. (Brooks) Plumbo. Mr. Plumbo served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Shelley A. Snell of Middletown; his mother, Joey M. Plumbo; a daughter, Michelle L. Stanley H. Reed
Stanley H. Reed, retired CEO and president of Crystal Tissue Co., died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at the age of 85. He was born Nov. 3, 1914, in Lima to Smith and Glen Geach. His father was co-owner of Reed Klopp Furniture Co. in Middletown. After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration, he joined the Crystal Tissue Co. full-time in 1936. He worked his way up to president and finally CEO. He began his career in the laboratory and later joined the sales department, advancing through various posts as advertising manager, sales manager, and was elected vice-president of sales in 1949. He was named executive vice-president in 1959 and president and chief executive officer in 1961. He also served as member of the Barnitz Bank Board of Directors, Board of Trustees of the Miami University Pulp and Paper Foundation, national chairman of both the Wrapping Tissue and Gift Wrapping Association of the American Paper Institute, Finance Committee chairman and director on the Middletown YMCA's Board of Directors, director on the Salvation Army's Board of Directors, member of the Executive Committee of the Middletown Civic Association, and a director of the Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Jefferson Lodge No. 90 F&AM. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and in 1993 he was honored for achieving 50 years of membership in the organization. In addition, Mr. Reed was an active member of the First United Methodist Church for over 70 years where he served on the Board of Stewards and the Board of Trustees. He also volunteered at the Middletown Regional Hospital for nearly 15 years. In 1939 Stanley married Dorothy Jewell of Middletown where they raised three sons. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed golf, fishing and Florida vacations with his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Reed; his sons, Stanley H. (Georgia) Reed Jr. of Centerville, James D. (Sabine) Reed of Millville and John K. (Sherry) Reed of Fort Pierce, Fla.; three granddaughters, Peggy Reed of Cincinnati, Alicia (David) Wallman of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Allison (Scott) Bushbaum of Kettering; and two great-granddaughters, Lauren and Robyn Wallman of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; devoted sister-in-law, Audrey Jewell of Middletown; and brother-in-law, James (Virginia) Jewell of Butler, Penn. He was preceded in death by a half-sister, Evelyn Noss.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial services with friends and relatives will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Middletown with the Rev. Stuart Rammes officiating. Family will receive friends after the memorial service in the church parlor. Interment at Woodside Cemetery will be arranged by Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home at the convenience of the family.

Gladys Ringer
Mrs. Gladys Ringer, 68, of Cincinnati, died Friday, July 7, 2000. She was the loving wife of the late Paul Ringer; beloved mother of Gregory (Allison) Ringer, Robin Ringer Dozier (Russell), and stepson Bruce (Linda) Ringer; and also survived by a brother, Austell Stokes, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Whittle.

Robert L. Roe
Robert Lee Roe, 53, of Jonesboro, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 3, 2000, at the Atlanta Medical Center. He was born on March 6, 1947, in Manchester, Ky., the son of Jack Roe and Phyllis (Roberts) Roe. Mr. Roe graduated from Miami University and was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Navy. He worked as a computer engineer for the RAM Co. at Fort McPherson until 1998. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Vernia (Hensley) Roe; three loving daughters, Julie Roe of Middletown and Katie and Allison Roe, both of Jonesboro, Ga.; his mother, Phyllis Simpkins of Trenton; two sisters, Paula Wise of Columbus, Ohio, and Jennifer Minor of Middletown; and a brother, Kenny Simpkins of Trenton.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Burns officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial with military honors by the American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard will be at the Butler County Memorial Park in Trenton.

Glen Sallie
Glen "Beaneye" Sallie, 74, of Middletown, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Garden Manor Extended Care Center. He was born in Whitesburg, Ky., Feb. 17, 1926, and lived in Middletown for more than 50 years. He worked as a crane leader for Armco Steel Co. for 39-and-a-half years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 3458 and the Junior Order of the United American Mechanics. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katheleen, in 1991; brothers, Clinton and Clifford Sallie, and parents, Howard and Ola (Back) Sallie. He is survived by four sons, Glendell D. Sallie, Wendell R. Sallie, Timmy L. Sallie and Wilgus G. Sallie, all of Middletown; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don Sallie of Sidney and Dale Sallie of Middletown; four sisters, Imogene Allen of Stanton, Ky., Clara Gumm and Lorraine Griffith of Middletown and Dana Woodward of Nebraska and a sister-in-law, Ruth Sallie of Middletown.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home. Services are 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park in Trenton.

Allen T. Saunders
Allen T. Saunders, 79, of West Chester, passed away at 5:06 a.m. July 1, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital where he had been a patient for two days. He was born August 13, 1920, in Sherburne, Ky., and had lived in the Middletown area for 33 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at the Richman Brothers Clothing Store in Cincinnati, and in the slab mill at AK Steel for 15 years and at the Meijer store in West Chester. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Middletown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nina (Marshall) Saunders; one infant son, Michael Allen Saunders; and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bonnie; three sons, Walter Allen Saunders and wife Elaine of Atlanta, Ga., Leslie R. Saunders and wife Patricia of Middletown, and Shawn L. Saunders of Middletown; two daughters, Teresa A. Saunders of West Chester and Kimberly M. Jernigan, husband Alhmad of Middletown; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Vivian Williams of Madisonville; and many nephews and nieces.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., with the Rev. Tom Ramsey and the Rev. Jeff Queen officiating. Shellie S. Smith
CAMDEN -- Shellie S. Smith, 101, of Camden, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Oxford View Nursing Center in Oxford, Ohio. Mr. Smith was born on June 13, 1899, in Leslie County, Ky., the son of Frank and Amanda (Simpson) Smith. He married Elaine Stamper in October of 1968 in Covington, Ky. He was employed as a pipefitter for Local 162 for 60 years. Mr. Smith was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1922 until 1925 with the H.Q. Special Troops at Fort Sam in Houston, Texas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Barney, James, Omas, Miller and Joe Smith; and three sisters, Dora Brock, Dallie Morgan and Ellen Smith. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Smith of Camden; three stepchildren, Jack (Pat) Richardson of Camden, Gary (Teresa) Richardson of Dayton and Margaret Jordan of Trenton; nine step-grandchildren; eight great-stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, 249 N. Main St. Camden, is in charge of arrangements.

Mollie Sorrell
MONROE -- Mrs. Mollie Sorrell, 91, of 225 Britton Lane, Monroe, died Saturday morning at Hospice of Dayton. A homemaker, she was a longtime member of the First Christian Church, and the WCTU. She and her husband had lived for many years at 807 Eaton Drive. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Weiner of Reno, Nev., and Janice Hill of Hyde Park; three sons, Bobby Sorrell, Virgil Sorrell and Ross Allen Sorrell, all of Middletown; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Talmadge King and John King, both of Dayton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; a son, Walter Jr.; by three sisters, Fern, Irene and Thelma; and by two brothers, Earl and Forrest.
ARRANGEMENTS: Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at North Monroe Cemetery with the Rev. Carol Oetzel officiating. There will be no visitation.

James A. Stacy
James A. Stacy, 55, of Paris, Ky., husband of Ella Stacy, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at his residence after an extended illness. A native of Hazard, Ky., James was born Sept. 8, 1944, to Linda Martin of Nicholasville, Ky., and the late Kelsey Stacy. Mr. Stacy was a masonry instructor at Blackburn Correctional Complex in Lexington. Mr. Stacy was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen of Local No. 18 in Cincinnati, a member of the American Federation of Teachers, an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Wells Union Church in West Liberty, Ky. In addition to his wife, James is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy M. and Steven Fletcher of Middletown; one son and daughter-in-law, James A. Stacy Jr. and Robin of Phoenix; five grandchildren, Michael, Justin and Derrick Fletcher and Jacob and Geena Stacy; three sisters, Lora Ray of Reynoldsburg, Peggy Sue Trimble of Nicholasville and Ina Mae Lykins of Indain Shores, Fla.; one brother, Denver Stacy of West Liberty and a host of brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many special friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Thorp officiating. Burial is to follow in the New Castle Cemetery in New Castle, Ky. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Viola Trent
Mrs. Viola Trent, 68, of 2141 Brentwood St., died Sunday, July 9, 2000, in the emergency room at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born on Feb. 4, 1932, in Pine Ridge, Ky., the daughter of Frank Perry and Myrtle (Ledford) Perry. Mrs. Trent is survived by her husband of 27 years, Hearl Trent; three daughters, Marcella Ann Walters of Lakeland, Fla., Marietta Dossett of Jacksonville, Ark., and Diana Burns of Hollansburg, Ohio; four grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Slaton and Stella Ward, both of Middletown, Della Coffey of Fairborn and Joanna Laurey of Front Royal, Va.; three brothers, Bill Perry of Ohio, Clarence Perry of Middletown and Don F. Perry of West Virginia.

Ruth L. Watson
Mrs. Ruth Louise Watson, 77, of Middletown, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Middletown, Ohio, on Jan. 9, 1923, and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Watson had worked as a bookkeeper at Certified Auto Parts for three years. She was a member of Prosser Eastern Star, AGLOW, Forest Hills Country Club and Seniors of Weatherwax Golf Course. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (Decatur) Edwards. Among her survivors are her husband of 58 years, Thomas; a son, Thomas Watson II (Cindy) of Middletown; two daughters, Linda Swanger (Don) of West Middletown and Susan Buchanan (Doug) of Middletown; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, George Edwards (Marilyn) of Cincinnati.

Robert P. Yeggy
Robert P. Yeggy, 76, of Delhi, passed away Monday, July 3, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born in Riverside, Iowa, to John Yeggy and Lelmah (Kelley) Yeggy. He served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Yeggy was an entrepreneur and salesman for the National Yellow Pages. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn Moore Yeggy; endearing father of Evelyn Lynch, J. Paul, Robert C. and David F. Yeggy; grandfather of 11 grandchildren; and brother of Laverne James and Ruth Kelley.
