Mary Frances Krempasky, 72, of Hudson, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township. Born April 30, 1929, in Cullman, Ala., she was the daughter of William and Willie Jay (Turner) Howse. She had lived in Macedonia for 22 years before moving to Hudson in 1978. Mrs. Krempasky was a seamstress at Fisher Body in Euclid for 10 years, from 1955 to 1965. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hudson, a 30-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous and a former member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Barnabas Catholic Church, both in Macedonia. She also was a 40-year member of the First Catholic Slovak Union Branch No. 777 of Bedford. She enjoyed gardening, growing roses and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Stephen L., whom she married Jan. 28, 1955; sons, Stephen Francis (Mary Scott) of Carlisle, Pa. and Lawrence "Larry" (Sharon Lynn) of Finleyville, Pa.; four grandchildren; and sisters, Nellie of Brookville, Fla. and Edith Self of Cullman, Ala. A brother, Alfred E. Howse; and stepmother, Trudy (Cobbs) Howse, died previously. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South Street, Chardon. Robert J. Hurley, 42
AURORA - Robert Jeffery Hurley, 42, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Interstate 76 in Brimfield. Born Dec. 17, 1958, in Cleveland, he was the son of Paul and Phyllis (Campbell) Hurley. He had lived in Aurora most of his life. Mr. Hurley was a truck driver for Dayton Freight in Kent. Survivors include his son, Jeffery P. of Aurora; father, Paul of Nashville, Tenn.; mother, Phyllis of Aurora; brother, Chuck of Alexandria, Va.; and sisters, Patty Hendricks of Stow, Vicki Friscic of Mentor and Pamela of Los Angeles, Calif. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Shorts Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Don Workman officiating. Former Ravenna resident Wilma (Lower) Geiger, 81, of Cuyahoga Falls, died Saturday, May 5, 2001 at Briarwood Nursing Home in Stow. Born Sept. 24, 1919, in Wadsworth, she was the daughter of Arthur and Olive (Kunkler) Stuver. A former Ravenna resident, she moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 1972. Mrs. Geiger was a homemaker. She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Wadsworth and the Cuyahoga Falls Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a long time volunteer in the emergency room at Akron City Hospital in Akron. She was an avid genealogist. Survivors include her husband, Glenn, to whom she was married 25 years; daughter, Jill (David) Prehn of Hudson; stepsons, Gary Geiger of Naples, Fla. and Gene Geiger of Wadsworth; granddaughter, Victoria Prehn of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; brother, Jerry Stuver of Kent; and sister, Doris Alderfer of Dallas, Texas. Her first husband, Herbert Lower, former president of Enduro Rubber Co. in Ravenna, to whom she was married 35 years, died previously. Her son, Jack Lower; grandson, Richard Prehn; and sisters, Faye Ebert and Donna Kane, also died previously. George J. Kofron, 98
Former Nelson resident George J. Kofron, 98, died Saturday, May 5, 2001. Mr. Kofron lived in Nelson for 30 years before moving to Bedford. Survivors include his daughters, JoAnne (Bob) Ponikvar and Karla (Robert) Collins; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Kathryn Weber. His wife, Mae (Ranc); son, George Jr.; and daughter, Alycemae Paul, died previously. Becky (Daniels) McCartney, 46, of Rockwell Street in Kent, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at University Hospitals of Cleveland. Born Aug. 30, 1954, in Akron, she was the daughter of Merle Glen and Donna (Kellar) Daniels. Mrs. McCartney was a real estate property manager. She previously worked for Wilbur Century 21 in Kent. She was a lifetime member of Phi Beta Kappa and an avid potter. Survivors include her husband, Ed; daughters, Crystal (Erica) Pelz of Akron and Rachel Erdman of Kent; mother, Donna of Kent; grandmother, Ruth Kellar of Kent; and sisters, Kathy (Ted) Daniels Stopera of Hartville and Glenda (Kevin) Daniels Olesh of Mogadore. Taylor William Horne
Taylor William "Bill" Horne, 64, of Ravenna, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Born March 23, 1937, in Friedens, Pa., he was the son of Daniel and Charlotte (Engelhardt) Horne. He lived in Shanksville, Pa., then in Kent before moving to Ravenna 35 years ago. Mr. Horne was a maintenance employee with the Ohio Turnpike Commission until he retired in April 1996. He attended Kent Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife, Shirley K. (Wolford); son, David R. (Debra) of Stow; daughters, Wanda J. (Wayne) Devine of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Barbara L. (Anthony) Ramicone of Ravenna and Connie L. of Streetsboro; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brother, Daniel F. (Shirley) Horne of Middletown, N.J. A sister, Norma Allison, died previously. Leo D. Escavage, 58, of Denise Drive in Kent, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Born Nov. 23, 1942, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of Faustine and Viola (Cheslock) Escavage. Mr. Escavage was a postal carrier in Brecksville and Solon until he retired. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Kent. Survivors include his wife, Donna (Galiardi); daughters, Ann-Marie (Jim) Spicer of Doylestown, Faith Marie of Copley and Dawn of Akron; two grandchildren; mother, Viola of Maple Heights; and sisters, Carole of Maple Heights, Maggie of Rome and Delphine of Seven Hills. Mildren Salandre
Mildred H. Salandre, 83, of Ravenna, died Wednesday, May, 9, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Born Nov. 9, 1917, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of John and Emma (Soetga) Bleckert. She had lived in Ravenna most of her life. Mrs. Salandre was an assembler for the Apex Box Co. in Cleveland. She retired from Portage Paper Box in Kent in 1982. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Ravenna. She enjoyed bowling, bingo and dancing. Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Lee) Oblinger of Ravenna; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Millhouse of Highland Heights. Her husband, Joseph, died in 1967. Her son, James, died in 1991. Four brothers and a sister died previously. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, with the Rev. Carl Holm officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna. Virginia Ferry
Virginia Dawson Ferry, 92, of Cleveland, died Thursday, April 26, 2001 at her home. Born March 18, 1909, she lived in Kent from 1929 to 1988. She and her husband, Ernest S., whom she married in 1929, owned and operated Ferry Industries in Kent. While a Kent resident, she was an active volunteer with the Portage County Welfare Board, Robinson Memorial Hospital Gray Ladies and the annual antique shows, which benefited the hospital. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Kent. Survivors include her daughter, Pat of Shaker Heights and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, Ernest S., died March 31, 1989. Burial was in Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Peninsula.

John Federonick
John Federonick, 81, of Vancouver, Wash., who was reared in Suffield, died Sunday, April 29, 2001. Born Jan. 18, 1920, in Suffield, he lived in Akron before moving to Vancouver 18 months ago. His early years were spent working at his family's 80-acre dairy farm in Suffield. Mr. Federonick was employed by First Energy for 29 years, retiring in 1985. He was also a part-time security guard for Pinkerton Security Service for more than 15 years. Survivors include his son, John (Rhonda) Federonick of Goshen, Ind.; daughter, Gloria (Steve) Long of Vancouver; and five grandchildren. His wife, Ann; brothers, Pete, George and Charles; and sisters, Mary, Julia and Margaret, all died previously. Services will be held at 11 a.m. May 30 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Akron.

Cody Simms
Cody Walker Simms, 5, of Parkman Township, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, in Dennison, Ohio. The cause odf death is being investigated by the Tuscarawas County Coroner's Office. Born Oct. 31, 1995, in Cleveland, he was the son of Stacy Scott and Lisa (Artino) Simms. Cody enjoyed fishing, riding his four-wheeler, playing Batman and playing with Batman toys. He also enjoyed baseball and T-ball. In addition to his parents, survivors include his grandparents, Harvey and Brenda Simms of West Chester, Janet Artino of Newbury, and Dennis Artino of Bainbridge; and great-grandparents, Janet Null of Poca, W. Bridget Whipkey
Bridget Nicole Whipkey, the daughter of Christopher D. and Twyla M. Whipkey of Ravenna,was stillborn Tuesday, May 7, 2001, in Gary, Ind. In addition to her parents, survivors include her grandparents, Linda Whipkey and David Whipkey of Ravenna and Lea Ann Dobbins and William Huffman Sr. of Temple, Texas. Graveside services were held today at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Gary Beck officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.

Charles J. Yacavona
Charles J. Yacavona, 94, of Summit Road, Ravenna, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at his home. Born May 9, 1907 in Wooster, he was the son of Emedio A. and Martha (Grazer) Yacavona. Mr. Yacavona was the owner and operator of Yacavona Heating and Sheet Metal Co. He had previously worked at Gougler Industries for six years during World War II, worked at Kent Sheet Metal for nine years, and had apprenticed with the Erie Railroad. Mr. Yacavona was an avid sportsman and a member of the Lake Milton Fish and Game Club, Twinsburg Sportsman Club, and Goodyear Sportsman Club. Survivors include his daughter, Joy Radovic of Ravenna and Los Angeles; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. His wife, Nellie Mae (Cain) to whom he was married for 62 years, daughter, Bette Lea Yacavona, sisters, Eva Myers and Dorothy Moulton; uncle, Paul, a former Kent City councilman, and father, Emedio, a Kent policeman for three decades, all died previously. Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Danny Workman
Danny Workman, 43, of Streetsboro and formerly of Mansfield, has died. Born May 28, 1957, in Mansfield, he was the son of Tommy and Faye (Roberts) Workman. He lived in Streetsboro since 1987. Mr. Workman coached girls softball in Streetsboro. Survivors include his wife, Andrea (Perry) Workman whom he married July 21, 1985; daughters, Chandra Nicole Workman and Ashlee Nicole Turner, both at home; his parents; brother, Mark "Rob" Workman of Mansfield; and sister, Diana Logan of Mansfield.

Elinor A. Pesek
Former Aurora resident Elinor A. Pesek, 64, of Pinellas Park, Fla., died Thursday, May 10, 2001, in the Palm Garden of Largo Nursing Home in Largo, Fla., after a long illness. Born June 4, 1936, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Paul and Frances (Okoren) Kainec. She had lived in Aurora for most of her life before moving to Florida in 1988. Mrs. Pesek was a homemaker. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Aurora. Survivors include her husband, Carl, of Pinellas Park, Fla.; son, Tom of Aurora; daughters, Sandra Dellasala of Pinellas Park, Fla., Kathy Oswald of Mantua and Judy Cole of Rocklin, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Frank of Largo, Fla., Bernard of Bedford and Paul of Cleveland; and sisters, Rosemary Mauer and Kathy Skok, both of Aurora. There will be no calling hours or services. Cremation will take place Monday.

BRIMFIELD - Nancy Imhoff, 72, of Hanover Drive, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at her residence. Born Sept. 30, 1928, in Fairmont, W.Va., she was a daughter of Samuel and Willa (Hillberry) French. She lived in Brimfield since 1990 and was formerly of Deerfield and Paris. Mrs. Imhoff was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Newton Falls. She enjoyed sewing and crossword puzzles. Survivors include her husband, Clarence E. Imhoff Sr., whom she married May 28, 1960; son, Clarence Jr. of Brimfield; daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Brenda) Spaller of Brimfield; five grandchildren; and sister Mrs. James (Bertie) Gump of Wayland. Michael Dean Johnson
Michael Dean Johnson, 18, of Champion, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital as the result of injuries from an auto accident. Born July 6, 1982, in Warren, he was the son of A.J. Johnson of Champion and Arlene A. (Crim) Henao of Tampa, Fla. Formerly of Ocean Side, N.Y., he had lived in the Champion area the past year, where he attended Champion High School. Mr. Johnson was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed fishing, music, the outdoors and all sports. Survivors include his parents; half brothers, A.J. Johnson and Harly Johnson, both of Champion; and grandmother, Mrs. Diana Crim of Braceville. His maternal grandfather Arch D. Crim and paternal grandparents Jim and Mary Johnson died previously. Ruth May Dulin, 81, of Springfield Center Road, Akron, died Saturday, May, 12, 2001, at the Hospice Care Center in Copley. Born July 7, 1919 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of William B. and May (Brush) Trimble. Mrs. Dulin retired from the payroll department at Davey Tree Expert Co. in Kent. She was a member of Wedgewood United Methodist Church in Ellet. Survivors include her son, Lyman "Bud" Jr. (Sabine) of Krefeld, Germany; daughters, Linda Dwyer of Akron and Marti Haas of Kent; four grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth J. Uzarski of Maryland. George Kezele, 65
George Kezele, 65, of 5718 Bright Baldwin Road, Newton Falls, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. Born April 1, 1936 in Warren, he was the son of Frank J. and Rose (Gerchar) Kezele. He was a life resident of Newton Falls. Mr. Kezele was a service engineer for IBM for 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Newton Falls. He enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, hunting, bowling, bocce and playing cards. Survivors include his wife, Pauline (Soos), whom he married March 2, 1957; sons, Gregory P. of Highland Heights and Timothy A. of Columbus; five grandchildren; brothers, Frank of San Diego, Jack of Newton Falls, Chuck of Winchester, Kansas, and Joseph of Lake Side, Calif.; and sister, Ann Bradley of Long Beach, Calif. DEERFIELD - Bernice Harris, 62, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at her home. Born Aug. 18, 1938, in Rootstown, she was the daughter of Earl and Marie (Thomas) Thompson. She had lived in Rootstown before moving to Deerfield last year. Mrs. Harris was a retired bus driver, working for the Rootstown School District for 22 years. She was a member of Rootstown United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Survivors include her sons, Scott and Rick, both of Deerfield; daughter, Vickie (Dan) Kiser of Rootstown; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Carl (Sharon) Thompson of Edinburg; and sisters, Phyllis (Jim) Tarr of Rootstown, Gloria (Jerry) Bradfield of Edinburg and Janet (Don) Fisher of Atwater. STREETSBORO - Ross Wilcox, 87, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Born August 10, 1913, in Streetsboro, he was a son of Charles and Mabel (Myers) Wilcox. He was a life resident of Streetsboro. Mr. Wilcox was a carpenter, retired from Joel Newman Construction. He was a life member of the Ohio Carpenters Union. He was a former member of the Streetsboro Board of Education, serving eight years. He was a member of Streetsboro United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Doris (Cunningham), to whom he was married 59 years; sons, Larry (Judy) of Randolph and Doug (Joni) of Jackson Township; daughters, Sheryl (Tom) Davenport of Rochester, N.Y., and Cindy (Greg) Huck of Kent; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brothers, Clarence of Florida and Lynn of Streetsboro. Daniel Edward Fritz, 56, of Ravenna, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at home. Born June 29, 1944, in Ravenna, he was the son of Howard F. and Viola Pearl (Owens) Fritz. He was a life resident of Ravenna. Mr. Fritz ran the bingo fund-raising operations as a volunteer for Easter Seals and the Knights of Columbus for 40 years. He was a member of Portage Community Baptist Church in Ravenna. Survivors include his sons James (Tracie) of Brimfield, Robert Fritz Ayers and Troy (Cindy), both of Ravenna; daughter, Stacy (John) Lewis of Kent;stepson, Jeff Goldbach of Ravenna; stepdaughters, Barb Kuhns of Florida, Anita Laudermilk of Ravenna, April Smith of Tallmadge; three grandchildren; brother, Richard (Barb) of Columbus; and former wife, Barbara Jones of Mantua. Norma (Woods) Neal Salinsky, 68, of Akron died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division in Charleston, W.Va. She was the daughter of Lee and Mable Woods. She was formerly of Idore, W.Va. Mrs. Salinsky was a cook at Altercare of Ravenna until she retired. Survivors include her sons, Scott Neal of Fresno, Ohio and Darrell Ray (Anita) Osborne of Dover, Ohio; daughters, Karen Osborne of Ravenna, "Patty" Pearl Gonzales, Vannessa K. (Butch) Whitted of Rootstown; Penny (Danny) Whitacre of Akron and Drema Nealof Columbus, eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Jolly Woods, and Nute Woods; and sisters, Madeline Sizemore, Ruby Johnson. A grandson, Danny Ray Gonzales; son-in-law, Tim Keifer; and sisters, Lenna Butcher and Garnet Woods, died previously. Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Main St., Clay, W.Va., where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Herbert Vance officiating. Burial will be in the Reedy Cemetery in Indore, W.Va.

Virginia Boyer, 92
AURORA - Virginia M. Boyer, 92, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Anna Maria Nursing Home in Aurora. Born in Detroit, Mich., she was a resident of The Norwood since 1985. Mrs. Boyer was a teacher for a short time until she married. She attended Detroit Teachers College. Survivors include her son Richard R. (Edith) of Blufton, S.C.; daughter, Janet M. (Gerald P.) Miron of Aurora; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-granchildren. Her husband George L., died in 1985. Her daughter, Barbara Anne, died in 1952; and son, George L., died in 2000. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Aurora. Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Southfield, Mich., on Monday. Kindrich-McHugh Steinbauer Funeral Home of Solon is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament, 29575 Middlebelt Road, Farmington Hills, Mich. 48334-2311.
