Ray Gall
Ray Gall, 52, died Monday, March 9, 1998, at his home. A lifelong resident of Akron, he was the owner of Executive Coffee Service. A graduate of the Akron University Department of Education, he had also been a high-school teacher in area schools. He was also a graduate of Central High School, and at Akron University was a member of the Lone Star Fraternity. Mr. Gall is survived by his brothers, Leonard of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Charles (Vicki) of Greenville, S. C.; sisters, Mrs. Marilyn Fitch of Columbus and Mrs. Gloria Barker of Atlanta, Ga. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces, Leonard Jr. and Michael Gall, Krista and Charles Gall Jr., and Jannon and John Barker Jr.; by his uncle, Leonard (Ann) Samulak of Akron; aunt, Mary Samulak of Cuyahoga Falls; and by several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Sr. and Helen (Samulak) Gall; his grandparents, Theodore and Rosalia Samulak; aunt, Honora Marhesky; and uncle, Paul Samulak. Harry O. ``Pete'' Gardner
Harry O. ``Pete'' Gardner, 76, passed away Friday, March 13, 1998, at Hospice Care Center. He was born March 21, 1921, in Elkins, W. Va., the son of Harrison and Mayme Gardner. He was a member of the Wedgewood United Methodist Church. Mr. Gardner served during World War II in the U. S. Navy on the USS Philadelphia, and also was an avid gardener. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Luba ``Lou''; daughters and sons-in-law, Esther and Nicholas Karaginis, Claire Ann and John Voiers; son and daughter-in-law, Harry ``Champ'' and Meredith Gardner; sisters, Helen Baylous and Mary Frances Raymond; brother, Harold Gardner; several nieces, nephews, and friends. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. at Gilchrist Road, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with Rev. Karen Hartley officiating. Internment at Hillside Cemetery. Mildred Lucille Garnon (nee Mains)
Mildred Lucille Garnon (nee Mains), 78, of Summer Place, Girard, Pa., died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton, following a brief illness. Born in Barberton on Oct. 10, 1919, a daughter of the late Claude and Mary E. Ashbaugh Mains, she had worked for St. Vincent Health Center as a licensed practical nurse for 31 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Girard, and enjoyed sewing and crafts. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Fred Garnon Sr.; sons, Fred Garnon Jr. (Jackie) and David Garnon (Mardi), both of Erie; daughter, Karen (Gilbert) Madrigale of Bridgewater, Mass.; brother, william E. Mains of Akron; sister, Hazel (Milan) Pavkov of Barberton; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Burial was Jan. 20 at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Erie, Pa.

Georgia C. Gibbs
Georgia C. Gibbs, 84, passed away February 26, 1998 in Barberton. She was born January 5, 1914, in West Virginia. She leaves to mourn, son, W. Frank (Donna) Nelson, of Akron; brothers, Milton (Mary) Cox, of Fairlawn, Fred (Beth) Cox, of Bradford, Tx.; grandchildren, Luanne (Ed) St. Peter, of Lawton, Mich., Sue Stack, of Stow, John Nelson, of Dayton, Cynthia (Ric) Barrera, of Dublin, Dean (Mimi) Nelson, of Amelia Island, Fl. Cremation has taken place. Private family graveside services. There will be a wake service announced at a later date. Special thanks to friend and caregiver Dr. Roger Hakim and all the staff at Pleasant View Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Haven of Rest Ministries. Robert L. Gibson
TALLMADGE -- Robert L. Gibson, 93, died Feb. 26, 1998. Mr. Gibson retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. with 41 years service. He was born in Paducah, Ky., and lived over 50 years in Tallmadge. He was a member of the Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene, the Tallmadge Lions Club, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and served as a former constable for the City of Tallmadge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Mae; and son, Robert LeRoy. He is survived by daughters, Edna Sledd of Kentucky, Barbara Ann Eustice of Texas, Mary Ann Coudriet of Dublin, Ohio; son, James R. Gibson of Florida; nine grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Services at 11 a.m. Monday at the Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Terry Schmelzenbach officiating. Burial at Hillside Memorial Garden. Friends may call at the Hennessy-Bagnoli Funeral Home, 339 Southwest Ave., from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows will meet at 1:45 p.m. Sunday for services. John J. ``Jack'' Gifford
John Joseph ``Jack'' Gifford, 79, of Johnson City, Tenn., died Wednesday, March 4, 1998. He was a native of Akron, and lived in Johnson City the last 18 years. Mr. Gifford was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Gifford was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mr. Gifford was a son of the late John Joseph Gifford Sr. and Grace Baradi Gifford; he was also preceded in death by son, Michael Gifford; one sister, and one granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Friess Gifford; daughters, Monica Dolbi of Memphis, Ann Pontow of Creston, Iowa, and Gloria Greene of Johnson City; sons, Stephen Gifford of Washington, D. C., and John Gifford of Waco, Texas; sisters, Dorothy Linnane of Atlanta and Geraldine Orr of Sun City, Ariz.; and four grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Johnson City. Burial will follow at the Monte Vista Burial Park in Johnson City. Robert D. Gilder
Robert D. Gilder, 71, formerly of Macedonia, Ohio, died March 1, 1998, in McConnellsville. He was the beloved father of Susan Szabo, Nancy Wyss, and David; beloved grandfather of Michael, Stephanie, Brian, Angela, Kristy, Lauren, and Kimberly. If desired, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Anna V. Gladwin
Anna V. Gladwin, 86, a Christian woman, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 10, 1998. Mrs. Gladwin was born in Kent and, prior to her retirement, had been employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 33 years. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Billow Chapter O.E.S., and the Goodyear Wingfoots. Preceded in death by her husband, Earl ``Bud'' Gladwin, she is survived by her brother, Carl H. Harlan of Orlando, Fla.; and was a loving aunt to nieces and nephews, Jim, Deby, Carol, Craig, Lisa, Lynn. Friends will be received Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the CIRIELLO FUNERAL HOME -- ROSE HILL CHAPEL, 3653 W. Market St. Funeral services Saturday at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Rev. Ruth B. Goins
Ruth Goins, 80, passed away March 8, 1998, at Akron City Hospital, after a short illness. Born in Pratt, Ala., she lived in this community for 55 years. She is survived by brother, Clifton Fitzpatrick of Fairmont, W. Va.; nieces and nephews, Kermit and Minnie Barnett of Akron, Vickie Fitzpatrick and Gerald Fitzpatrick of Fairmont, W. Va., Mona Howard of California, and Phyllis Barnett of California; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home. Lewis J. Golub
NORTON -- Lewis J. Golub, 83, died March 7, 1998. A resident of Norton for 42 years, he was former owner-operator of the Big W Market in Wadsworth. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, retired from F. W. Albrecht after 22 years, and was a member of Meatcutters Union. He was a sausage maker extraordinare and enjoyed preparing chicken paprikash for family members, was an avid golfer and member of Grace Brethren Church of Norton. Preceded in death by daughter, Louisa Jean, surviving are wife, Sophia; daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Chuck Nanna of Tacoma, Wash., Theresa Howell of Akron, Linda and Jose Gomez of Beaufort, S.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Martha of Wadsworth, Louise and Pat of Doylestown; sisters, Irene Woods, Elizabeth Kane, Pearl Ostaff, Ruby Williamson, Rosaline Cimarik and Corine Emery, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral service Tuesday, 10 a.m. at Grace Bretheran Church of Norton, Pastor Robert Combs officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery, where a military graveside service will be conducted by V.F.W. Ida H. Gradisher
Ida H. Gradisher, 72, died March 4, 1998, at Barberton Citizens Hospital. She was born in Ranelle, W. Va., and was a life resident of the Kenmore area. Ida was retired from Barberton Citizens Hospital. She is survived by husband, Jerome M.; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Myra of Murray, Ky.; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Ann and Randy Smith of Dover, Nancy and Jim Ress of Massillon; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister, Mrs. Virginia (Art) Sunday of Akron; many lifelong friends and all her close friends from the Port Clinton area of Lake Erie, and of Gradisher's Gifts. Judith Marcella Greth (nee Boggs), 56, passed away March 15, 1998, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Akron, she was a lifelong resident of the area. Preceded in death by her mother, Helen, she is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Bob; son, Larry; daughters, Cheryl, Cindy, Brenda, Barbara, Lora and their families; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also missing her, is her loving father, Oliff ``Lefty'' Boggs; sisters, Verlene, Sandy, Karen, Vickie and their families; and many, many relatives, friends and loved ones.
