Sara Elizabeth Templeton, 79, went to be with the Lord on March 3, 1998. Born in Akron, she was a member of Ernest Angley's Grace Cathedral since 1954. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, and is survived by her daughters, Betty (Lewis) Lawhorn, Naomi (Dennis) Cunningham, Rose (Oliver) Edman, Belle Marie (Marvin) Holmes, Linda (Dennis) Frame, Mary (Julius) Landrum; sons, Raymond (Martha) Templeton, Daniel (Debbie) Templeton, David Templeton; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul McMasters. Funeral services Thursday at noon at ERNEST ANGLEY'S GRACE CATHEDRAL, 2700 STATE RD., CUYAHOGA FALLS, Reverend Ernest Angley, Reverend Chris Machamer, and Reverend Bob Hoffman officiating. Gayle Saylor Thomas
Gayle Saylor Thomas, age 56, of Centre, Ala., passed away Thursday, March 12, 1998, unexpectedly. She was a Rome, Ga., native and had resided in Centre, Ala., where she served as a managed care coordinator with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Alabama. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Gadsden, Ala. Preceded in death by her father, Burtis Salter on April 1, 1996, she is survived by her husband, Ray T. Thomas; sons, Jay Thomas of Windsor, Canada and Baylen Thomas of San Diego, Calif.; daughter, Rayelle Thomas of Cocoa, Fla.; mother, Evelyn Downey Salter of Hartville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Carol Salter of Tallmadge and Tim and Gay Salter of Uniontown; sister, Connie Salter of Hartville; and several nieces and nephews. Services were Monday in Alabama. Friends may call Thursday, 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Fr. Kevin Fete officiating. BRIMFIELD -- John Thomas, 80, died after a brief illness, on Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998. He was born April 17, 1917, in Barnesboro, Pa. The survivors include son John (Patricia) Thomas; grandchildren, John Jr., Vicki, Juli, Teffani, and Brandi; 13 great-grandchildren, all of Las Vegas. Irene A. Tona
Irene A. Tona, 82, died Monday, March 16, 1998. Mrs. Tona was a homemaker and enjoyed going to flea markets and gardening. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe R. and Shirley, and Jerry L. and Judy, all of Akron; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Dealia Truman, 93 years, of Akron, died March 2, 1998. Mrs. Truman was Born in Oka, W. Va., and was a lifelong area resident. She is survived by sons, Richard of Palm Bay, Fla., Kenneth of Eura, N.C., and James of Akron; daughter, Jeanette Johnson of Akron; brothers, Cam Simons of Ravenswood, W. Va., Dallas Simons of Akron, and Rosco Simons of Jodie, W. Va.; sisters, Ruby Truman and Erma Jarvis, both of Spencer, W. Va.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley, Ciriello & Carr Fairlawn Chapel, 39 S. Willard V. ``Willie'' Tryon
Willard V. ``Willie''' Tryon, 90, of Wooster, died Saturday at Good Shepherd Home in Ashland, Ohio. He was born June 12, 1907, in Wooster, to Ezra and Mary (Ritter) Tryon, and married Martha L. Jacobs on January 14, 1937, in Wellsburg, W. Va.; she survives of Wooster. He worked for O'Neil's department store in Akron as a carpet layer for 50 years, before retiring in 1972. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Margaret Vanni of Cuyahoga Falls; half-sister, Mrs. Blanche Eberman of Washington, D.C.; stepsister, Mrs. Mary Marker of North Canton, and nephews, Don and Gerald Hockenberry, both of Wooster. Service will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Custer Funeral Home in Wooster, with Rev. Jerry L. Murphy officiating, followed by burial at Wooster Cemetery. LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- Phyllis Roberta VanBuskirk, 76, of Litchfield Park, Ariz., died March 3, 1998. Born in Dayton, she was a homemaker. She belonged to the Wigwam Country Club and the Litchfield Park Library Association. She is survived by husband, William; daughter, Sandra Morgan; son, Jeffrey Steven; brother, Wayne D. Bray; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Services at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 1998, at the Church at Litchfield Park, 300 N. Litchfield Rd., Litchfield Park, Ariz. Helen Vasko, 76, passed away Sunday, March 8, 1998. She was born in Mogadore and retired from Ohio Bell in 1986 with 15 years service. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and the Telephone Pioneers. Mrs. Vasko was preceded in death by husband, John, and sisters, Jenny Pruszkowski, Sophie Lorkowski, and Josephine Molnar. She is survived by daughters, Irene (Paul) Fickert, Mary Jane Schumacher; brothers, Chester and Walter Matyjasik; sister, Clara Recklaw; grandchildren, John Fickert, Angela Fickert Paterek, Debra Mervine, Robert Fickert, David Fickert; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha, and Alyssa; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 9 a.m., at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, and 9:30 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
