Ethel L. Fain, 88, passed away Feb. 17, 1998, at Akron City Hospital, after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater Bethel Baptist Church, with Rev. Darryl Isaiah officiating. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery. Doris M. Fazio (nee Hannan)
LODI -- Doris M. Fazio (nee Hannan), 60, of Lodi, died Feb. 19, 1998, at her residence. She was born in Canastota, N. Y., She worked as a vending programmer for Ebner Furnace Co., and was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Gladys Hannan; and sisters, Rosemary and Henrietta, she is survived by her husband, Frank, of Lodi, whom she married June 9, 1956; son, Frank Fazio Jr. of Medina; daughter, Mary Remaley of Lodi; brothers, George Hannan, Sheridan Hannan, Jerry Hannan, and Harry Hannan, all of Canastota, N. Y.; sisters, Irene Arnold of Hamlin, N. Y., Louise Hannan and Mary-Lou Roscoe, both of Canastota, N. Y.; grandson, Ryan Michael Fazio of Medina. Services will be Sunday 2 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 3477 Medina Rd. F. Eva Filhour
F. Eva Filhour, 88, of Phoenix, passed away Wednesday morning after a lengthy illness. A member of Austin United Methodist Church, she had been active in Wednesday bridge club and Thousand Trail R.V. Club, and was past treasurer of Heart of Texas Trailer Club. Preceded in death by husband, R. T.; daughter, Shirley Hunt; and sister, Lois Wilkerson, she is survived by son-in-law, Harry Hunt; granddaughters, Kimberly Picard of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sydney Meuller of Apache Junction, Ariz.; sister, Carrie Sawyer of Tyler, Texas; great-granddaughters, Bonnie and Roseann. Friends may call Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m., at Booth Funeral Home in Greentown, where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Interment at Greentown Cemetery. Doris Mareta ``Rita'' Fisher, 79, passed away Feb. 26, 1998. Born in Akron, she retired from Dart Western, where she was co-owner. Mrs. Fisher belonged to American Legion Post 209 Auxiliary, and was past Royal Matron of Court 5 Amaranth. Preceded in death by her son, Ronnie, in 1971, she is survived by her husband of 56 years marriage, Clive; son, Kenneth (Lynn) of Cuyahoga Falls; daughters, Barb (Tony) Tomsello of Akron and Carolyn ``Carrie'' (Jeff) Cunningham of Green; grandchildren, Tracie, Paula, Laurie, Wendy, Brian, Tammy, Jeff, and Ronnie; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, William Benner of Brimfield and Glenn Benner of Rootstown; sister, Mary Lou Silvers of Brimfield; and special friend, Carl Veppert of Cuyahoga Falls. Sam Michael Flasco
Sam Michael Flasco, 88, passed away Feb. 19, 1998. Born Jan. 22, 1910, in Akron, he was a charter member of the Carovillese Society and St. Anthony Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia; daughter, Phyllis Petrarca, and her children, Phyllis Petrarca and Mikki (Bill) Chris; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Lee and Carmean Ciccarelli, and their children, Gina (Dennis) Rose, Maria (Jeff) Hinton, Carma (Jim) DiSabato, and Anita (Matt) Aloisi; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Darlene, and their son, Corey (Terri) Flasco; sister, Mrs. Frances Buchanan; 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, John Mariola; sister-in-law, Rose Flasco; numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Church (PROFESSION TO FORM AT THE CHURCH). Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Robert F. Fox
Robert F. Fox, 74, passed away at Akron City Hospital on Feb. 27, 1998. He was born in Pottstown, Pa., the son of Frank and Katy Fox. Mr. Fox was a retired sales representative for the tire industry, a veteran of World War II in the U. S. Navy, and a member of the Uniontown United Methodist Church and the Masonic Order. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Bonnie; daughter, Shannon A. Fox; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Roe and Gina Fox of Akron, and Timothy D. Fox of Uniontown; sister, Helen Moyer; brother, Ernie Fox; grandchildren, Robbie, Brianna, Kayley Fox; several nieces and nephews; faithful companions, Katie and Spencer. Friends may call Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Farley Funeral Home, 131 N. Kathryn (Kaye) Loretta Gasper
BARBERTON -- Kathryn (Kaye) Loretta Gasper, 53, died Feb. 19, 1998, at Barberton Citizens Hospital. She was born in Massillon and was a life resident of Barberton. She was employed as a caregiver for 10 years with REM-Ohio, and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She is survived by husband, Joseph; son, Scott of the home; daughters, Dawna Gasper of Akron, Denise (David) Luckenbach of Upper Arlington, Pa.; grandchildren, Erin, Kayela, Zachary, Tori, and Hanna; brothers, William Kline of Jackson Twp., Dennis Kline of Akron, Robert Kline of Doylestown; sisters, Mary Ann Miller of Cuyahoga Falls, Patricia Harrison of Barberton, and Barbara Allen of Wadsworth. A memorial Mass will be held Monday, 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fr. Carl Ciprian, celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Robert L. Gibson
TALLMADGE -- Robert L. Gibson, 93, died February 26, 1998. Mr. Gibson retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. with 41 years service. He was born in Paducah, Ky., and lived over 50 years in Tallmadge. He was a member of the Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene, the Tallmadge Lions Club, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and served as a former Constable for the City of Tallmadge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Mae. He is survived by stepdaughter, Edna Sledd of Kentucky; daughters, Barbara Ann Eustice of Texas, Mary Ann Coudriet of Dublin, Ohio; son, James R. Gibson of Fla.; two stepgrandchildren; seven grandchildren, several stepgreat-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services 11 a.m. Monday from the Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene with Pasteur Terry Schmelzenbach officiating. Burial at Hillside Memorial Garden. Daniel E. Goodpasture, 40, passed away Feb. 25, 1998. Born in Akron, he was a graduate of Ellet High School. Daniel is survived by his mother and father, Florence and Hugh of Green; brothers, Michael of Green, Lloyd of Cleveland; sisters, Karen Kopec of Akron and Donna Plappert of Michigan; nieces and nephews. John Curtis Goss
GREEN -- John Curtis Goss, 54, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at his home, after a long, courageous battle with renal cell carcinoma. Born in Akron and raised in Tallmadge, he graduated from Tallmadge High School, Class of 1961. He was employed with Shippers Dispatch and Preston Trucking Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1996. While employed, he was presented with a one- and two-million-mile safe-driving award, and was a member of the Retired Teamsters Local 24, Barberton Moose, and American Legion Garfield Post 566. He was also an avid golfer. Mr. Goss is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Donna; son, John Dennis (Angel) of Orlando, Fla., Naval Nuclear Power Command; special grandson, Channing of Orlando, Fla.; daughter, Shannon Ford of Akron; mother, Eileen of Tallmadge; father, Meredith of Avon Park, Fla.; brothers, Gary of Green and David of Tallmadge; sisters, Cherrill of Creston, Beverly of Tallmadge, Donna of Kent, and Linda of Rockway, N. J.; special friend and mother-in-law, Ruth Grindstaff of Ecorse, Mich. Services will be held at 1 p.m. SATURDAY at the Billow TALLMADGE Chapel, 17 Southwest Ave., with Rev. Mabel S. Gourley, 76, of Edinburg, died Friday. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Delano of Rootstown and Teresa Gourley of Ravenna; sons, Duane Gourley of Ravenna, Dale of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Richard of New Hampshire; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Harmon of Aurora and Kay Smith of Barnesville; brothers, Albert Smith of Kent, Branson Smith of Kinsman, and Carl Smith of Barnesville. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, with Rev. Paul Phillips officiating.
