Lillian (Snyder, Smith) Jahn
Lillian (Snyder, Smith) Jahn, 90, passed away March 30, 1998. Mrs. Jahn was born June 12, 1907, to Ambrose and Florence Wilson, in Seneca-ville, Ohio. She lived in Randolph from 1943 to 1961, where she was a member of the Randolph Methodist Church. After moving to the Akron area, she attended the Lakemore United Methodist Church, was a member of Ellestar Chapter 565 O.E.S., and enjoyed fishing and traveling. Preceded in death by husbands, David L. Snyder, Paul Smith, and Harry Jahn; daughter, Martha Jean Brunner; and son, Robert L. Snyder, she is survived by son, Dr. David W. (Ilene) Snyder of Ravenna; daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie (Virgil) Channel of the City of Green, Evelyn (Merrill) Laubaugh of Mantua, N. J., and Carole (Budd) Sprague of Ashland, Ohio; 24 grandchildren, over 60 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, many relatives and friends. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to a special granddaughter and caregiver, Kimberly Denholm. Leroy Johnson
Leroy Johnson, 87, passed away March 17, 1998, at Akron City Hospital, after a long illness. Born in Wynne, Ark., he had lived in this community for four years. He was a farmer for most of his life. Preceded in death by his daughter, Hazella Baskett, he is survived by his son, Lance Johnson; daughter, Johnnie Gates, all of Akron; brother, Dave Johnson of Illnois; sister, Ruth Henderson of Chicago, Ill.; son-in-law; John Baskett of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Cynthia Simpson of Madison, Ill., Jeanetta Mosby of Cauokia, Ill., and Temple Johnson of Akron; four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandsons, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Chapel, Rev. George Goodman officiating. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery. McClure B. ``Mickey'' Jones Jr.
COVENTRY TOWNSHIP -- McClure B. ``Mickey'' Jones Jr., 81, passed away March 19, 1998, after a long illness. Born in Parsons, W. Va., he lived in the area for the past 70 years, retiring from the General Tire & Rubber Company in 1977 after 32 years of service. Mr. Jones served in the Army during World War II, and was a member of Airport V.F.W. Post 8975. Preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn ``Toots'', in 1993, and brother, Collas, he is survived by sons, Randell B., Larry G. (Bonnie), and Roger D., all of Akron; daughter, Donna J. (Mel) Siebert of Magnolia; grandchildren, Michael (Pam), Ronald, Donald, Jennifer, and Jeannine Jones, Laura (Donald) Sloat, and Joseph Siebert; five great-grandchildren; beloved sisters, Icie Miller of Hartville, Elsie DeLong and Evalee (Robert) Vernon, both of Akron; and many loving relatives and friends. Luke John Jursik
BARBERTON -- Luke John Jursik, 78, died March 21, 1998 after a courageous battle with cancer at Manor Care of Barberton. He was born in Middletown, Ohio and was a life resident of Barberton. He was a employee of the former Diamond Match Co. for 17 years. He was a carpenter for Gilcher Lumber Co. for 22 years, retiring 13 years ago. He was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, The Holy Name Society, Rosary Society, Knights of Columbus 1617, Sokol Lodge, Carpenters Local 639, and the Slovene Pensioners Club. He is preceded in death by brother, Paul. He is survived by wife, Angeline; daughters, Carolyn (Edward) Sivy of Louisville, Ohio, Geraldine (Don) Cromley of Akron, Jane (Leonard) Harrison of Uniontown; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Fred of Tampa, Fla., Edward of Orlando, Fla., Joseph, William, Stefan and Andrew all of Barberton; sisters, Elizabeth Studenic and Margaret Balas both of Barberton. Robia Baker Key, 57, died suddenly March 17, 1998, in Hopkinsville, Ky. Winifred K. Kimmich
Winifred K. (Winnie) Kimmich, 82, went to be with the Lord after an extended illness, on March 30, 1998. Born in Sandusky, Ohio, she lived in the Akron area since 1948. Winnie was an executive secretary with Goodyear Tire & Rubber, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Unity Chapel of Light. Preceded in death by her son, Clifford E. Madrin Jr.; and grandson, Thomas C. Madrin, she was the beloved wife of Dick Kimmich; beloved mother of Thomas S. Madrin and Christopher C. Madrin and wife, Nancy; beloved grandmother of Amy M. Mathia, Craig C. Madrin, and Kara M. Madrin. A memorial service will be Thursday, 1 p.m., at the Unity Chapel of Light, 503 Northwest Ave., Tallmadge, with Pastor Guy Lynch officiating. Helma Kirk
Helma Kirk, 90, went home to be with the Lord on March 24, 1998. She was born in Lexington, Ky., and had been an Akron resident for 79 years. Mrs. Kirk was a member of the Duane Avenue Block Club and a former member of Bethel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Albert Kirk; sister, Estelle Bell; and brother, Louis Warfield, she leaves, to cherish her memory, son, Harold L. (Sonny) Kirk; granddaughter, Temakia Mitchell; great-grandsons, Javanta Virden and DaJuan Mitchell; sister, Margaret Thomas; special niece, Norma (Thomas) Spencer, all of Akron; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 1998, at 11 a.m., at the Marco Sommerville Funeral Home, 1695 Diagonal Rd., Elder Robert D. Bell officiating, with the Rev. Thomas H. Annabelle Knapp
Annabelle Knapp, 70, went home to the Lord on March 21, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Paul. She was born in Atwater and was a longtime Randolph resident. She was preceded in death by her son, Billy; mother, Charlotte Knapp; father, Michael Knapp; and brother, Paul Knapp. She is survived by daughters, Shirley, Brenda, and Annie; sons, Ron, Marty, Bobby, and Douglas; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, 12 grandchildren, and many special relatives and friends. ``God saw that you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be; So He wrapped His arms around you, and whispered, ``Come with Me.'' A golden heart stopped beating; hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.'' Friends will be received from 6 to 9 TONIGHT at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial wil be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Randolph, with the Reverend Father Edward Wieczorek officiating. Adolph Korzeniewski

Pete Kousagan
MUNROE FALLS -- Pete Kousagan, 75, passed away March 25, 1998, after a battle with cancer. Born in Uhrichsville, Ohio on July 1, 1922, he was a lifetime resident of Munroe Falls. A professional baseball player, he was an inductee in the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame. After retiring from baseball, he worked as a title examiner until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Kousagan also served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946 and was a member of AHEPA. He leaves behind, his wife of 43 years, Marguerite (Peggie); daughter, Melissa Kousagan of Kent; son, Scott Kousagan of Munroe Falls; sister, Helen Pekar of Florida; and a brother, Andy Kousagan of Massillon. Family and friends may call at the Redmon Funeral Home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., where Father Bartz will conduct service Friday at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg. Jacob ``Jake'' Kreps
Jacob ``Jake'' Kreps Jr., 88, of Columbus, died Saturday, March 28, 1998, at First Community Village in Columbus. He was formerly from Akron, where he managed Mount Peace Cemetery and was also an active member of the First United Church of Christ. He retired as the general manager and superintendent of Union Cemetery Association in Columbus after 16 years and became treasurer of the Board of Directors, serving until 1996. He was a member of the Ohio Association of Cemetery Superintendents and Officials and served as president from 1961 to 1962. He was a former member of the Tri-Village Lions Club and a member of the chorus at Upper Arlington Senior Center. He was also a member of First Community Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Katherine Kreps; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Marlene Kreps of Wilmington, Del., Norman and Betty Kreps of Massillon, and Gary and Loretta Kreps of Wiliamsburg, Va.; grandchildren, David, Scott, Todd, Kathy, Brad, and Bart Kreps; great-grandchildren, Ben and Ashley; brother, George Kreps of Florida; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 1998, at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, where friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 12 non to 1 p.m. Rev. Barbara Cunningham will officiate. Entombment at Union Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice at Riverside/Grant, 3535 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus 43214-9861; or the American Cancer Society, 900 Michigan Ave., Columbus 43215-1165 in his memory.

William J. Kuberka
FLORIDA -- William J. Kuberka, 89, died Monday, March 23, 1998, in New Port Richey, Fla. He was a former member of St. Matthew's Parish in Akron, and retired from General Tire. Preceded in death by his parents, and son, Joe, he is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary; son, Michael (Mary); daughter-in-law, Bonnie; sisters, Sue of Akron, Vicki and Ann of Florida; brother, Andy of Alabama; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held in Holiday, Fla.
