James Lee Adams, 62, passed away April 14, 1998. Mr. Adams leaves behind his companion of 28 years, Amelia Elliot. Dale B. Allen Sr.
Dale B. Allen Sr., 70, went to be with the Lord on April 22, 1998. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Born in Weston, W. Va., he lived most of his life in Akron. Dale retired from Goodyear Aerospace with 44 years service in 1988. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Doyle and Lucy Allen; daughter, Patty Allen; brothers, Frank, Howard, and Robert. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; sons, Dale (Kellie) Allen Jr. and Doyle; daughters, Becky (Garry) Byler, Terrie (Mike) Kimball, Michelle (Mark) Stewart; brothers, Edward, Charles (June), Lyle (Marcia); sister, Lillian (Paul) Kiser; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, also many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and loving friends. Emma L. Allrutz
Emma L. Allrutz, 69, passed away April 29, 1998. Mrs. Allrutz was born in Williamstown, Pa., and was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bill; sons, William (Dotti), Gary (Terry); grandsons, Jeremy, Justin, Christopher, and Nick; brother, William ``Bumper'' Warlow; sisters, Hannah Bopp and Lois Starnowsky; niece, Judy Sweigard, and other nieces and nephews. Lillian E. Anderson lost a courageous battle to cancer on April 23, 1998. She leaves, to mourn, daughters, Beverly Robertson, Cherita Merrett (niece), Denita Anderson of Akron; sons, Elder Ronnie L. Anderson of Cleveland, Tyrone Anderson of Youngstown; special granddaughter, Tamara Anderson of Akron; special niece, Lorraine Anderson of Columbus; 11 other grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends. A memorial service will be held in Columbus.

Frank Archual, Sr.
Frank Archual, Sr., 92, died Sunday, April 19, 1998. He was born in Calabria, San Marco, Italy, coming to the United States in 1913 and Akron in 1952. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, and retired from and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as an electrician after 35 years service. Mr. Archual was preceded in death by first wife, Arietta and second wife, Josephine and daughter, Virginia Branchna. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Marcella of Akron, Richard and Vera of Westfield Center; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Ralph Branca of Akron, Debbie and Jerry Conners of Akron; daughter, Carmella Stern of Youngwood, Pa.; brother, Edmond of Philidelphia, Pa.; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 95 W. Waterloo Rd., and 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Robert Harris Armstrong
HUDSON -- Robert Harris Armstrong was born Dec. 11, 1931, in Sault St. Marie, Mich. He graduated from Michigan College of Mining and Technology (now Michigan Technical University) with a mechanical engineering degree in June 1953. He was later honored as Outstanding Alumnus in 1976. He served in the U. S. Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he was involved in ballistics research on rockets. He attended the University of Michigan's MBA program and then Mr. Armstrong joined Ingersoll Rand Co., a large manufacturer and marketer of industrial, process, and construction and mining equipment. Some of the management positions held by Mr. Armstrong while at Ingersoll Rand were general product salesman, product manager, general manager for marketing, Europe and Africa, divisional vice president, and general manager, vice president marketing, Construction and Mining Group. Mr. Armstrong had a special interest in mining techniques and visited most of the mining centers throughout the world. In 1987 he retired from Ingersoll Rand and came to Hudson as president, Terex Division, with responsibility for the USA, Asia, and South America. Mr. Armstrong was a Master Mason in Geneva Lodge 139 in Geneva, Ill., and a member of Medinah Temple in Chicago, Ill. In his retirement he enjoyed his new hobby, woodworking, and made several pieces of furniture. Other hobbies included bridge and golf, which he played as long as was possible. Mr. Armstrong is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jo Ann; sons, Timothy of Mahwah, N. J., Peter (wife, Robin, and daughter, Morgan) of Crofton, Md., Robert Jr. of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Erin Devin (husband, James) of Portland, Ore.; his mother of Ann Arbor, Mich.; sister, Patricia of Ann Arbor; and sister, Mildred of Birmingham, Mich.; as well as three nieces and two nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the organ fund at Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson. Services will be held Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at 2 p.m., at Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St., Hudson. Gloria F. Arnold (nee Popa), 68, passed away April 25, 1998. Dorothy M. Askew
Dorothy M. Askew, 48, departed from this earthly life April 19, 1998. She was a beloved member of the Barberton community all her life, and was employed as a cashier at Acme Grocery Supermarket for 25 years, also serving as union steward. She was also a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 880 AFL-CIO and a member of Livingstone Baptist Church in Barberton. Preceded in death by father, William Griffin; grandparents, Vallie and James Watkins, Viola Jenkins; and nephew, Tracy Palmer, she leaves, to forever cherish her beloved memory, son, Larry C. ``Skip'' Askew Jr. of Barberton; daughters, Marcia and Twanna Askew of Barberton; husband, Larry Askew Sr.; mother, Adger (Minus) Jenkins of Akron; sister, Rosetta (Andrew) Wilson of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Ashley, Vanessa, Buster, C. Helen A. Bachmann
Helen A. (Anne) Bachmann, 82, passed away April 15, 1998. Born in Iowa, she resided in Akron most of her life. Helen worked side by side with her husband, James, who had interests in several small businesses, the most well known being Bachmann's General Store on East Exchange Street. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James, in February of last year; her brother, Charles Baye; sister, Margaret Baye; and her parents, John and Matilda Miletich. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Donald Palmer of McLean, Va., Barbara and Alfred Mayes of Fremont, Calif., Susan and Donald Fry of Tucson, Ariz.; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Ellen Bachmann of New Albany, Ohio, William and Susan Bachmann of Philadelphia, Pa.; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and spouses, Frank and Steffie Baye of Brecksville, Ohio, Nick Baye of Akron; sister and spouse, Ann and Olderich Jerebek of Florida. Nanci Baitz (nee Glotfelty), 41, passed away April 28, 1998, at Akron General Medical Center. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She will be missed by all. Allene L. Beck ``Becky Beck''
Allene L. Beck ``Becky Beck,'' a longtime resident of Akron, died April 25, 1998, after a long illness. Preceded in death by husband, Jack Carl Beck, she is survived by daughters, Linda Bleasdale of Hove, England, and Jacqueline Pazura and James Conley; grandson, Leslie S. Phillips and his friend, Jean Jones; longtime caregiver, Perry Frank Miller, all of Akron; and many friends and aquaintances. No calling hours or services. The body was donated to NEOUCOM.

Robert W. Benson
Robert W. Benson, 60, of Norton, passed away Thursday, April 16, 1998, after a battle with cancer. Born in Titusville, Pa., Bob moved to Northeastern Ohio in 1963 and began work with Babcox & Wilcox in Barberton. He retired 25 years later and joined the United Insurance Company as an agent in its Mansfield and Akron regions. An avid golfer and longtime member of Rawiga Country Club in Seville, Bob was also active in the Norton Community. He was a member of the Athletic Boosters and was a coach in the girls softball program for close to ten years. Bob was preceded in death by his father, William and mother, Frances of Titusville. He is survived by his wife, Kaye (Buffington); daughter, Shelley of Chicago; sisters, Nancy Tracy of Titusville, Katherine Williamson of Cape Coral, Fla., and Barbara Schultz of Lititz, Pennsylvania; stepsons, Dale Grimes of Coral Gables, Fla., and Dennis (Cyndie) Grimes of Ft. Myers, Fla.; grandchildren, Lyndsey and Morgan Grimes; and many nieces and nephews.

Eloy Bernal
Eloy Bernal, 61, a pioneering Tejano singer in the Hispanic music community, died Wednesday when the bus he was driving overturned in a ditch near Corpus Christi, Texas. Bernal's son, Edward, 27, and his daughter, Rita, 23, both members of his band, were injured in the crash.

Warren S. Bittinger
Warren S. Bittinger, 87, passed away April 16, 1998. He was born in Akron and resided here his entire life. A graduate of Akron Garfield High School, he worked for the B.F. Goodrich Co. building tires and de-icers. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls. Preceded in death by wives, Erlene and Adele, he is survived by daughter, Patricia Stebnicki of Wheaton, Ill.; granddaughter, Pamela (Donald) Lovedehl of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandson, Mark (Bonnie) Stebnicki of Jonesboro, Ark.; granddaughter, Lisa Stebnicki of Warsaw, Poland; great-grandchildren, Sarah Stebnicki, Mark Donald Stebnicki, Patty Mugan, and Donald Lovedehl; and brothers, John and Maurice. PENINSULA -- Richard W. Boulton, 81, of Peninsula, died Wednesday at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital. Mr. Boulton was born in E. Liverpool and had lived in Peninsula for the past 32 years. He was retired from Alsides, where he worked on the Paint Line. He is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn (nee Jones); sons, Wallace Dale of New York City and Alfred H. ``Rick'' (Carla) of Stow; granddaughter, Alicia; and sister, Beulah (Ron) Livingston of N. Carolina. Service will be Saturday, April 25, 1998, at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Romito, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, 19 E. Terry L. Bramer
Terry L. Bramer, 51, died suddenly April 14, 1998. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his loving stepchildren, Jeffrey J. (Drena) Brown, and Kristine E. Brown; brother, Benny (Rose); sister, Sheila (Norman) Floyd; nephews, Norman and Clay; nieces, Kara, Nicole, and Regina; aunts, uncle, and cousins. Terry was born in Sardis, W. Va., and moved to Akron, Ohio in 1968. He worked for B.F Goodrich for 19 years and 10 months, and was presently employed by Mercury Trucking. Terry will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He brought such joy to his family and friends. Terry's laughter and wit brightened all our lives. We are so thankful to have had him for so short a time, and in our hearts he will always be with us. There will be no further announcements or memorial services. Remember him as you will.

Frances Dunson Brown
Frances Brown, 81, passed away April 21, 1998, at Akron General Medical Center. Born in Talapoosa, Ga., she lived in this community 75 years. She was employed as a surgical assistant for Akron General Medical Center, retiring in 1973. Frances was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir, Usher Board, and Nurses' Guild. She was also a member of the Ladies Helping Hand Social Club. Frances is survived by daughter, Janice Douglas; devoted grandchildren, Anthony Vaughn Douglas of Escondido, Calif., Naajia Douglas of Akron; six additional grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sisters, Reverend Cora Williams of Akron, Bertha Taylor of California, Magnolia Penn of Akron; brother, Carlton Dunson of Akron; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Mona T. Brown (nee Talkes) passed away. She was the beloved wife of the late Willard C. Jr. ``Bill''; mother of Susan L. Wise (Kevin R.) of Akron, Cheryl A. Akers (Daniel C.) of Twinsburg, and Willard C. III (Lisa) of Lakewood, Colo.; grandmother of Harry, Daniel, and Bradley Buchert, Alyssa and Michael Akers, and Savannah Karn. Gladys E. Merrill Brugger
CANTON -- Gladys E. Merrill Brugger, 76, of Canton, passed away Wednesday at the Metrohealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Born in Plymouth, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy E. Merrill. She graduated from Black River Academy in Ludlow, Vt., in 1939, and Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Hanover, N. H., in 1943. She served three years as a first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. Memberships included Trinity United Church of Christ on Blackburn Road, the Married Couples Sunday School Class, Semper Fidelis Circle, Canton Art Institute, and the Fine Arts Associates. Mrs. Brugger was also dedicated to Mt. Union College, as her husband was a graduate in the class of 1940. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald J. Brugger in 1989. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Antenuce and her fiance, Jim Lively, of Canton; sister, Mrs. Winona Spaulding of Ludlow, Vt., and Sarasota, Fla.; brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Robbert A. Merrill of Ludlow, Vt.; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ. Mary Lee Bunn (Enlow) (nee Pfeiffer)
Mary Lee Bunn (Enlow) (nee Pfeiffer), 68, died April 23 after a long battle with leukemia. Born in Alliance, she was an Akron resident most of her life, and wintered in Florida for the past 10 years. She was a graduate of Akron City Hospital School of Nursing in 1950 with 33 years of nursing at City Hospital. She also worked as a part-time nurse at Goodyear for five years. She was a member of Ellestar Chapter 565 O.E.S. Preceded in death by her first husband, Richard W. Enlow; and son, Randal Enlow, she is survived by husband, Donald C. Bunn of Franklin Township; son, Richard E. Enlow; and daughter, Rita Ellen Enlow, both of Cleveland Heights; grandchildren, Kyle and Kaitlyn; brothers, Harry Pfeiffer of North Canton and David Pfeiffer of Gnadenhutten; brother-in-law, Roy (Fran) Shaw of Carrollton; stepsons, Scott (Chris) Bunn of Franklin Township and Jeff (Colleen) Bunn of Coventry Township. Marguerite L. Burklow
Marguerite L. Burklow, 79, of Evansville, Ind., died April 22, 1998, at the home of her daughter, Anna Vibbert in Evansville. She was born August 9, 1918, in McLean County, Ky., daughter of Marion Robert Humphrey and Katherine Morris. She was a homemaker, and a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Dorcas Class at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carl Burklow in 1995, and is survived by daughters, Anna Faye Vibbert of Evansville, Ind., Shirley Jean Papp of Marshallville, Ohio, and Marion Louise Dennis of Green, Ohio; son, William Carl Burklow, Jr. of Sumner, Wash.; brother, James Humphrey of Hudson, Fla.; sister, Virginia Grey of Grand Rapids, Va.; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Owen Bradford Butler
Owen Bradford Butler, 74, who was chairman of Procter & Gamble Co. for much of the 1980s, died last week at his home in Denver. The cause of his death Tuesday was cancer, the company said. Butler and joined Procter & Gamble in 1945 in the sales department. He rose through the ranks, holding various positions in sales management, including head of the Cincinnati-based company's soap department. In 1981 he became chairman of Procter & Gamble, which makes Tide laundry detergent, Crest toothpaste and Pampers diapers. He retired in 1986.
