Elder Robert Hale ``Piggy''
Elder Robert Hale ``Piggy,'' 64, went home to be with the Lord on April 17, 1998, at Hospice Care Center. He was a lifetime resident of this community. He was a U. S. Army veteran. He retired in 1981 from Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. after 32 years of service. He was a pastor and assistant pastor for 20 years, and served as pastor of Ebenezer Apostolic Church until retirement. He was a member of Ohio District Council, Pentecostal Assembly of the World, Northern District Brotherhood and Sunday School, and served on the Advisory Board Ohio District Council. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Dorothy Hale of Springfield Township; daughter, Rose Maria Blackmon of Akron; son, Robert Anthony Hale of Sacramento, Calif.; devoted mother-in-law, Rosie M. Thomas of Springfield Township; brother, Charles E. Hale of Akron; four grandchildren, two uncles, one aunt, a host of nieces. nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, April 28, 1998, at First Apostolic Faith Church, Deacon Jerome Sheppard officiating, his children in the Lord, Evangelist Monica McVay and District Elder Derrick Mosley, eulogzing. Bruce D. Hahn
Bruce D. Hahn, 39, passed away April 25, 1998, as the result of an accident. Born in Akron, he was a life resident, and had been employed by the City of Akron for four years. Preceded in death by his father, Raymond; brother, Raymond K.; and sister, Patti A., he is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kathy; children, Joshua, Sarah, and Sean of the home; mother, Delores Hahn of Tallmadge; brother and sister-in-law, Denny and Jill Hahn of Springfield Township; sister-in-law, Patsy Hahn of Akron; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Bruce was a man of unique abilities, always willing to lend a hand. He will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 8 p.m., at the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Alfred J. Hauser
Alfred J. Hauser, 74, passed away April 24, 1998. A lifetime resident of the area, Mr. Hauser retired from Flaherty's Potato Chip Co., and was a member of Tallmadge Lutheran Church where he served as an elder. He was also a member of Tallmadge Lutheran Church Wise Owls, AARP, Charles Faust Post 281, and a World War II Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Marien; daughter, Kathleen Reiner of Uniontown; sons, Dr. William (Annemarie) Hauser of Fairlawn, Martin (Beth) Hauser of Stow, Keith (Karen) Hauser of Strongsville; grandchildren, Erik, Melinda, Sarah, Megan, Laurie, Brad, Brandon, and Garrett. Susanne D. Helms (nee Doepke) was the beloved wife of Wade Farley Helms of Hudson; dear mother of William C. Helms of Alturas, Calif., Christian F. Helms of Bellevue, Wash., and David B. Helms of Chicago, Ill.; grandmother of one; daughter of Edith Doepke of Winnetka, Ill. and the late Charles F. Doepke; sister of William Doepke, Carolyn Bennett, and Barbara Cochran. Dorothy Jane Hennigan
Dorothy Jane Hennigan, of Tallmadge, passed away Thursday, April 23, 1998. Mrs. Hennigan was born in Mansfield, Ohio, and retired as an executive secretary for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 42 years service. She was a graduate of St. Peter's High School in Mansfield, Ohio. Her memberships included Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Goodyear Womens Blue & Gold Club, Goodyear 25-Year Club, and the Tallmadge A.A.R.P. Association, and she was an officer for the Damon Gourmet Travel Club. Jane's shining personality was a beacon for her family and many, many friends. She was a worldwide traveler, avid bowler, and brought sparkle, generosity, and love to everyone she touched. Preceded in death by her husband, Martin J.; and sister, Margaret Romanchuk, she is survived by her sister, Barbara (Raymond) McKean of Mansfield; niece, Beverly (John) Romanchuk Brown of California; nephews, Gene, Patrick (Sue Ellen) Romanchuk of Mansfield; great-nieces, Valerie Romanchuk and Lana (Steve) Garberich; great-nephew, Mark (Zoi) Romanchuk; great-great-niece, Molly; great-great-nephews, Chad and Blake; and, among many special friends, Sue and Norm Adams, and Roxy Hohonsee. James C. Herndon
James C. Herndon, age 85, died April 24, 1998. He was born in Connellsville, Pa. He was a resident of Akron for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Doyle Herndon, and his son, James. He is survived by three children, Kathleen Harrick of McMurray, Pa., Michael of Cuyahoga Falls, and Ann Considine of Canton. He is also survived by a sister, Betty J. of Wheeling, W. Va.; brothers, Richard of Wheeling, W. Va., and Edward of Bethesda, Md. He had seven grandchildren, Stephen and Christopher Harrick of Boston, Ma., Greg Harrick of Austin, Tx., Brian and Kevin Considine of Canton, and Meredith and Matthew Herndon of Amherst. Mr. Herndon graduated from Ohio State University and the Cleveland Marshall Law School. Upon graduation, he worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Cleveland. During World War II, he served as a naval officer in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific theatres of operation. When he came to Akron, he practiced law with Sheck, Herndon and Barlto who merged with the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, where he practiced until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Herndon was involved in numerous community and business activities, being a former officer and trustee of the Akron Symphony Orchestra, Honorary Trustee and former officer of The Ohio Ballet, former member of the Board of Trustees of Walsh Jesuit High School and Loyola of the Lakes Jesuit Retreat House. He was an active member of St. Vincent Catholic Church. There are numerous other organizations in which he was involved because he was always eager to help his community in any way possible. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 1, 1998, at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 164 W. Market St., Akron. There will be a private interment, after which the family will receive friends at Fairlawn Country Club, 200 Wheaton Road, Akron, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to any of the following organizations: St. Vincent Catholic Church, 164 W. Thomas Howard Hissong
Thomas Howard Hissong, 70, died April 26, 1998, after a courageous battle with heart disease. A life resident of Akron, he was a member of Fairlawn West United Church of Christ, a 32nd Degree Mason of Joppa Lodge 666 F&AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Akron, Tadmor Temple Shrine and Fairlawn Country Club. He was very active in the Akron Jaycees and the West Akron Kiwanis. An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a graduate of Riverside Academy-Gainesville, Ga., and attended Buena Vista College in Iowa, and Kent State University. Tom was co-founder with his father, Howard and brother, Robert of Hissong Group Companies. Preceded in death by parents, Howard and Mabel Hissong; sisters, Geraldine Hissong Gambino, and Sandra Hissong Felty; he is survived by wife, Marlene; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Hissong (Allen) Melanson; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Amy Hissong; son, David Howard Hissong; daughter, Marian Ann Hissong; beloved grandchildren, Katelyn and Emily; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Norma Jean Hissong, all of Bath; brother, Richard Hissong of Akron; sister-in-law, Marian Daniels of Stow; many nieces and nephews. John O. Hite
John O. Hite, 81, passed away April 23, 1998, at Colonial Gardens Nursing Home. Mr. Hite was a veteran of World War II in the U. S. Army, and retired from Jenior Ford. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Betsy Hite; sisters, Phyllis Marn and Arlene Loveland; grandson and wife, Jay and Meridith Hite; great-grandson, Cody; stepgrandsons and wife, Tom and Stephanie Drzik, and Kenneth Drzik; stepgreat-grandson, Zachary Drzik. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat, in 1976, and by his son, Jerry, in 1967. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Farley Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Robert ``Bob'' Honeycutt
TENNESSEE -- Robert ``Bob'' Honeycutt, 72, of Milan, Tenn., died April 21, 1998. Born Sept. 22, 1925, in Beuladene, N.C., he was the son of the late Earl Honeycutt and Edith Parker Honeycutt. He retired as a self-employed farmer, and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Milan, Tenn. He is survived by wife, Betty Honeycutt of Milan, Tenn.; son, James R. of Jackson, Tenn.; daughters, Virginia Lynn Honeycutt and Judith Elaine Latham, both of Milan, Tenn.; sister, Louise Gardner of Johnson City, Tenn., and three grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 1998, at the Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan, Tenn., with Rev. Allen Williams officiating. Burial at Gibson County Memory Gardens, near Milan, Tenn.

Clarice Hoover
Clarice Hoover, 89, a homemaker & longtime resident of the Manchester area, died April 14, 1998, at her home in Indianapolis, Ind. Services will be at the Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., on Saturday, April 18, 1998, at 2 p.m., with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m., at the funeral home. Rev. Charles Young of Cornerstone Free Methodist Church in Akron will officiate. The Hoovers had been active members of that church for many years. Memorial contributions maybe made to the church. Leo Gary Hopkins
Leo Gary Hopkins, 81, died April 19 at Life Care Center of Evergreen, Colo. Mr. Hopkins was born May 6, 1916, in Clay, W. Va. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Navy. He was a printer for Goodrich Tire & Rubber Co. for 30 years. He married Geraldine Lucille George; she passed away in 1995. He is survived by sons, Mark of California and Kevin of Conifer, Colo.; daughter, Hope Hart of Texas; and two grandchildren. A graveside service was held April 20. Arrangements by Evergreen Mortuary.

Kathleen V. Hormel
HUDSON -- Kathleen V. Hormel (nee Vaughn) died Wednesday at the Crown Center at Laurel Lake, following a lengthy illness. She was a resident of Hudson for the past 23 years, a graduate of the Slippery Rock College, and received her master's degree in health and physical education from Penn State University. Mrs. Hormel taught physical education and health in Washington, D. C., at the National Cathedral School for Girls, and in Chatham, N. J., and Lyndhurst, Ohio. After she retired from teaching, Mrs. Hormel was the office manager of the Hudson Elms Assisted Living Center. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Hormel is survived by husband, John E.; son, John E. Jr.; daughters, Marjorie E. (Corey) Korsgaard and Mary V. (Kevin) McGraw; and brother, Kenneth L. Vaughn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St., Hudson. NO VISITATION. Pearl L. Horning, RN
Pearl L. Horning, RN, 81, of Akron, formerly of Waterville, died Thursday, April 23 at Windsong Nursing Home in Akron. She was born January 22, 1917, in Sarnia, Ontario to Edwin and Anna (Darah) Broadbent. Pearl was a retired registered nurse and worked numerous years for Dr. Hammon in his Waterville office. Pearl's memberships include, First Christian Church in Weslaco, Texas, Order of Eastern Star, Ladies Oriental Shrine, Daughters of the Nile, and a life member of Waterville American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister. She is survived by husband, Lorne Horning; daughters, Dorthy Young of LaMarque, Texas, Pearl Oliszewski of Baton Rouge, La., and Ruth Joslyn of Hudson; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and brothers, Edwin Broadbent of Elkhart, Ind., and Angus Broadbent of Port Sanalac, Mich. Bernice Hosack
Bernice Keyes Ogle Hosack, 94, died Tuesday April 21, 1998 at Magnolia Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born in North Woodbury, Mrs. Hosack resided in Wadsworth 19 years, previously residing in Waterford, Columbus and Mt. Gilead. She was a graduate of Johnsville High School Class of 1920. She studied piano and was an accomplished pianist, teaching piano for many years in the Waterford area and had accompanied silent movies. She was a member of Wadsworth Grandmothers' Club and enjoyed playing cards at the Wadsworth Center for Older Adults. Before losing her sight, she was an avid reader. She enjoyed travel, which she did extensively in the U.S. She attended Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Acme Rd. Mrs. Hosack is survived by daughter, June Ogle Linson (Donald) of Wadsworth; grandson, Jeffrey Linson of Tarrytown, N.Y.; granddaughter, Leslie Linson Wable (James) of Stow; great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Bryan Wable of Stow; nieces, Helen Foster of Mt. Gilead and Eileen Eberle (Clyde) of Johnsville; nephew, Richard Hershner (Mary) of Bradenton, Fla. She was preceded in death by husbands, Bryan Ogle and Glenn Hosack; parents, Charles and Amanda Keyes; sisters, Effie Hershner and Lula Fish; brother, Beryl Keyes. The family will receive friends Friday 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hilliard Cox Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. C. William (Bill) Hyatt
CANAL FULTON -- C. William (Bill) Hyatt, 80, of Canal Fulton, formerly of Tallmadge, died Sunday, April 26 at Massillon Community Hospital. He was born in Coventry Twp., was a Canal Fulton resident for the past nine years, and previously of Tallmadge for 23 years. Bill retired in 1974 as the director of the Central YMCA after 35 years service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a graduate of Kent State University, member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Canal Fulton, the Coventry 50-Year Grads, and the ``Y'' Handball Club. Preceded in death by his wife, Martha L. Hyatt; son, Robert C. Hyatt; and sister, Evelyn Wolfe; he is survived by daughter-in-law, Patricia Hyatt; granddaughter, Christen Hyatt, both of Massillon; and nephew, Jack Wolfe of Canal Fulton.
