John H. Lashley Jr., 78, went home to be with the Lord April 20, 1998, at Hospice Care Center. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, with Pastor A. C. Crystal Lawrence
Crystal Lawrence, 46, went home to be with the Lord on April 27, 1998. Graveside services and burial will be Friday, 11 a.m., at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, 2613 Sackett Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, with Pastor Kenneth W. Baldwin officiating. Nellie K. Lawrence
Nellie K. Lawrence, 81, a lifelong Akron resident, died Thursday, April 23, 1998. Mrs. Lawrence formerly lived in Firestone Park, where she was active in civic programs, including past president of both the Firestone Park P.T.A. and the Garfield High School Adult Band Boosters. For over 50 years, she was treasurer for the Lithuanian Alliance of America. Preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1978, she leaves her stepdaughter, Marcella Harris of Houston, Texas; son, James of Bath; and stepgrandson, John Levine, also of Texas. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dunn-Quigley, Ciriello & Carr Fairlawn Chapel, 39 S. Miller Rd., with Rev. James W. Leake
James W. Leake, 73 years, a native of Vale Summit, Md., and resident of Akron, Ohio 49 years, died April 16, 1998, after a long illness. Mr. Leake served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from Bridgeport Brass Co. of Akron, Ohio. He is survived by wife, Mary Rita (nee Hughes), to whom he was married 48 years; daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie and John Burnham; grandchildren, Rebecca, Christina, Beth Ann, all of Ocala, Fla., and Jacquelyn Burnham of Akron; sisters, Jane Hughes and Catherine Seib of Frostburg, Md.; and brother, Myles Leake of Inkster, Mich. Calling hours 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. SUNDAY at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Md. Mass of Christian Burial 12 Noon Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg. Paul Lesniak
Paul Lesniak, 73, passed away April 20, 1998, at his home in Dana Point, Calif. He was born in Akron and served in the U. S. Marines, after which he moved to Dana Point. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill of Akron, Michael of Michigan, John of San Diego, Calif. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; son, Kenneth; two grandchildren; and sister, Helen Wetzell of Akron. Cremation has taken place. Remember Paul in your own special way.

Mike Lezak
TALLMADGE -- Mike Lezak, 94, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at his home. He was born in Connersville, Ohio, came to Akron in 1928, and had lived most of his life in Tallmadge. He was employed by the B. F. Goodrich Tire & Rubber Co. for over 41 years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, the PNA, and the St. Nicholas RBO. Mike was an athlete his entire life, having played semi-professional baseball in his younger days, and coaching Little League teams to several championships in his later years. Many thanks to his friend Freddy Borden and all his bowling buddies at Stonehedge for the years of great fun. Mr. Lezak was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, in 1997; daughter, Barbara; and daughter-in-law, Joanne, and his survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jennie of Wooster; daughter, Patricia Ranta of Stow; brother, John (Mae) of Akron; sisters, Eunice Shulak of Akron, Olga Conry of Fresno, Calif., and Stella Mankey of South Carolina; grandchildren, Nicholai and Emily Lezak of Wooster, Gavin Ranta of Stow, and Owen Ranta of Wyoming. Funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, where the body will lie in state one hour prior to services, Rev. Fr. T. Stephen Kopestonsky officiating. Interment at St. Nicholas Cemetery. The family will receive friends TODAY, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, where Parastas services will be held TONIGHT at 7:30. Claude E. Liller
Claude E. Liller, 91, passed away Sunday, April 26, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Arlena; son, Dale (Kathryne) Liller of Berlin Center; daughters, Imojean (Harold) Corle of Myrtle Beach, S. C., and Darlene Smith of Akron; brother, Wayne Liller of Oakland, Md.; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at ADAMS-MASON MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 791 E. Emma Jean Tackett Lloyd
RITTMAN -- Emma Jean Tackett Lloyd (nee Daniels), 69, died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Akron City Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Prestonburg, Ky., Emma Jean resided in Rittman 50 years, where she was a member of South Main Street Church of God. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Kathy Tackett of Barberton; son, Tim of Clinton; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Terry Stewart of Orrville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Rev. Paul Daniels; and sister, Naomi Griffith, both of Rittman. Emma Jean was preceded in death by husband, Clifford Tackett and sons, David and Randy Tackett. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hilliard Cox Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., Rev. Jack E. Loritsch
Jack E. Loritsch passed away in Avon Park, Fla., Tuesday, April 21. Jack was born in Parkersburg, W. Va., on July 3, 1914, and moved to Akron at age three. A graduate of East High School, he served in the U.S. Army's European Campaign during World War II and was awarded Silver and Bronze stars and the Purple Heart. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber in 1980 with more than 35 years service. His retirement years were spent in Florida where he enjoyed playing golf and his hobby as a lapidary. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Nora, he is lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Mary; daughters, Barbara Torosian and Cheryl Goliath of Akron, Eileen (Irving) Weiner of Eugene, Ore.; brother, Bernard of Akron; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. After cremation in Florida, a memorial service for the immediate family will be held in Akron.

Martin C. Louy
NORTON -- Martin C. Louy, 55, passed away unexpected April 23, 1998. Mr. Louy was born June 12, 1972 in Blissfield, MI. Martin was a graduate of Kent State University and had worked 25 years for Gen Corp as a manager of state taxes and later began his business, Victor Tax Advisory, in 1994. He was President 2 years and long running member of Smite's Professional Organization. Martin was a past board member of the Norton Amateur Soccer Association for 5 years. He is preceded in death by his loving father, Martin in 1991 and is survived by his wife of 29 years, Nancy; sons, Alex and Neil Louy; mother, Lenore Louy; brother, John (Carol) Louy of Waterville; sister, Sharon (Michael) Webber of Michigan; nieces, Linda Martin and Vicki Webber and numerous aunts and uncles. Friends may call at the Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd., Norton, Sunday 2 to 5 PM. Services will be held Monday at 10 A.M. at the Mt. Zwingli United Church of Christ, 2172 S. Abbey B. Lowe
WADSWORTH -- Abbey B. Lowe, 70, died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Akron City Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Friendsville, Mr. Lowe resided in Wadsworth 42 years. He was one of 14 graduates of the 1945 class at Westfield High School, and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was vice-president at the J. C. Whitlam Co., retiring in 1992 with 33 years service. He was a member of the Wadsworth Lions Club since 1961, where he served a year as president, secretary from 1983-1990, District 13-C secretary from 1981-82, and was recipient of the Lions highest award, the Melvin Jones Fellowship. He was also a member of Wadsworth Lodge 385 F&AM. Mr. Lowe is survived by wife, Barbara; sons, Jim of Oklahoma City, Rick (Linda) of Wooster; daughters, Cathy Geary of Wadsworth, and Cynthia Davis of Medina; grandchildren, Sara (Sadie) Gary, Clark Davis, Sean, Stefanie, Adam, Sara, Emily and Elizabeth Lowe. He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and John and sister, Helen Rohrer. A memorial service will be Thursday, 3 p.m. at the Hilliard Cox Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Emilie Elisabeth Lucas (Tietz)
Emilie Elisabeth Lucas (Tietz), 88, died April 14, 1998. Born in Rosebud, Pa., May 1, 1909, to Gottlieb and Louisa Tietz, her family moved to Akron in 1918, where she met the love of her life in 1930. She had been a homemaker in the Portage Lakes area since 1946. Preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; son, Gerald A.; and daughter, Lynn E.; she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, S. June and Richard T. Abbott of Williamston, Mich.; son and daughter-in-law, A. Dean and Mary Lou Lucas of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and son, Kenneth S. Lucas of Akron; daughter-in-law, Verleen (Sue) Lucas of Campbell, Calif. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Service will be held 10 a.m. SATURDAY at the Billow LAKES Chapel, 472 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, (Rt. 619), with Dr. Charles Billington officiating. Interment at Greeenlawn Memorial Park. Niki Larurene Luyster
Niki Larurene Luyster, age 24, of Penn Ave., Bowerston, died Thursday, April 23, 1998, as the result of a traffic accident. Born September 10, 1973, in Dover, she was a daughter of Jerry E. Luyster of Freeport and Norma M. Bell of Cadiz. Surviving in addition to her parents are a son, Logan G. Arbuckle; her fiance, Greg Arbuckle, both of Penn Ave., Bowerston; sister, Jeri Luyster; niece, Nikole (Sissy) Davidson; and maternal grandmother, Hilda Karl, all of New Philadelphia; maternal grandfather, Jim Karl of Freeport; paternal grandmother, Beverly Luyster of Piedmont; paternal great-grandmother, Lela Moore of Moorefield; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceding her in death was her paternal grandfather, Dean C. Luyster, who died in 1981. Service will be held Tuesday, April 28, at Moorefield Church, Moorefield, Ohio, with Rev. Jerry Huntsman officiating. Burial will follow at Moorefield Cemetery, Moorefield, Ohio. Friends will be received at Koch Funeral Home, 216 S.
