Louis A. Takacs
Louis A. Takacs, 91, died April 21, 1998, in Colton, Calif. He was born in Hungary, was raised in Akron, and had been a resident of California for over 50 years. He was a machinist for the U.S. Rubber Co. and was a member of the Hungarian-American Club in California. Mr. Takacs was preceded in death by his parents, Bela and Mary (Nemeth) Takacs; brothers, Paul and John, and is survived by his wife, Anna; son, Bill (Caran) Takacs of the Phillipines; nephew, John (Iris) Takacs of Akron; great-nieces and nephews, Carol Lynn Gibson, Elizabeth Marie Williams, Cynthia Prophater, and Robert and John Takacs; great-great-nephew, James Gibson and many other relatives. Funeral service will be held Sunday, 2 p.m. at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, Rt. Rev. Tibor Domotor officiating. Interment will take place Monday, 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Irene Taylor
Irene Taylor, 92, died April 15, 1998. An Akron area resident most of her life, she was a member of High Street Christian Church where she was a deaconess and Sunday School teacher, a member of the Forum Class, Ella Thompson Circle, Summit County Historical Society, and Akron College Club. She was a 1926 graduate of The University of Akron where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Preceded in death by husband, Harold J. Taylor, in 1980, and son, Lynn J. Taylor in 1982; Mrs. Taylor is survived by daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Taylor) Dickson; cousin, Alberta Holsinger; grandsons and wives, Bruce J. and Sandra Taylor, Mark A. and Susan Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Margaret Taylor. Service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at High Street Christian Church, with Rev. Mitchell J. Maxted officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Hattie R. Thompson
Hattie R. Thompson, 90, passed away April 24, 1998, after a long illness. Born in Indianapolis, Ind., she had lived in this community for 56 years. She was a member of Second Baptist Church for over 40 years, and was most recently a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Independent Mary Exhalted Temple 109 of the Elks and Summit Beach Senior Citizens. Preceded in death by husband, Robert J. Thompson, daughter, Marjorie Thompson, four brothers and six sisters, she is survived by sons, James R. Thompson of Akron, Clarence G. (Judy) Thompson of Dumfries, Va., Donald R. Thompson of Washington, D.C.; daughters, Dorothy M. Thompson of Canton, Sandra L. Thompson of Barberton; devoted granddaughter, Trina O. Robinson; other grandchildren, Elder Juan G. (Juelene) Thompson, Clarence II, Dean, Clark, Kimberly, Ellen, and Martin; five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at Shiloh Baptist Church, with Pastor Curtis Minter officiating. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Victor Anthony Tomei
Victor Anthony Tomei, 76, died April 23, 1998, at Akron City Hospital. Mr. Tomei was born January 31, 1922, to Lawrence and Rose Tomei. He was a life long resident of Akron, who served in the European Theater during world War II with the 8th Army 515th Ordinance Division, and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired in 1984 from the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. with 43 years service. Mr. Tomei was an active member of St. Martha's Catholic Church. His survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Daisy; sons, Jack (Jo-Ann) and Provie (Susan); the greatest of grandfathers to Gina, Emily and Megan, the joy and pride of his life. He is also survived by sister, Angelina (Armando) Colella and brothers, Joe (Lena), John (Kate), and Fred (Louise); and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Dorothy A. Triplett
Dorothy A. Triplett, 72, died Sunday, April 26, 1998. Mrs. Triplett was born in Boston, Ohio and had been a homemaker. Preceded in death by brother, Frank and sister, Mildred Williams, she is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gilbert E.; brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Dixie Richardson of Richfield; sisters, Betty Phalan of Stow and Gladys Kamps of Cuyahoga Falls; and many loving nieces and nephews. No visitation. A memorial service will be Wednesday, 1 p.m. at the CIRIELLO FUNERAL HOME--ROSE HILL CHAPEL, 3653 W. Market St. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Charles P. Tritle
Charles P. Tritle, 72, of Akron, passed away Friday, April 17, 1998, at Summit Villa Nursing Home. Mr. Tritle was a member of the Eastwood Church of the Brethren, Cuyahoga Falls Masonic Lodge 735, Local Teamsters 24, and served in the U. S. Army and Navy with 18 years of service. Survivors include his wife, (Geneva) June; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebbeca (Smith) and Ed Brown, Kathryn (Smith) and John Ballinger, Julie (Smith) and Jim Shives; son and daughter-in-law, David and Candy Smith; sister, Mary Lively; grandchildren, Christopher, Katie, and Robin Brown, Lauren, Cara, and Devon Smith, David, Mark, and Katelyn Ballinger, Jessica, Jenny, and Jill Shives; several nieces and nephews. Ruth M. Tryon, 98, died April 19, 1998. A life resident of Akron, she was a member of High Street Christian Church and the Falls Chapter No. 245 O.E.S. Mrs. Tryon is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Tryon of Cuyahoga Falls, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Service will be held 11:30 a.m. WEDNESDAY at the Billow FALLS Chapel, Twenty-Third Street and Falls Avenue, with Dr. S. Thomas Shifflet officiating. Interment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Irene Elizabeth Tuhela (nee Studenic), 81, passed away March 30, 1998, in Apopka, Fla. Born Jan. 27, 1917, in Blair, Ohio, she was a lifetime resident of the Barberton-Akron area before moving to Florida. She leaves sons, John Tuhela of Apopka, Fla., and Ronald Dellangelo of Wadsworth; daughters, Debbe Long of Akron and Patricia Booth of Jekyll Island, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Services were held in Apopka, Fla.

Louise M. Turns
WADSWORTH -- Louise M. Turns, 78, died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at Akron City Hospital, after a brief illness. Mrs. Turns resided in Wadsworth 42 years, previously residing in Akron. She was a member of Wadsworth First Christian Church, Martha's Circle, and the Sunday School class. Mrs. Turns is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Irene of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Kelly, Nate, Molly, and Mindi; two great-grandchildren, one brother, and two sisters. She was preceded in death by husband, James R.; and daughter, Judith Ann Geiger. Services for the family will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Rev. James L. Singleton officiating. Paul B. Tussing
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Paul B. Tussing, 61, died April 24, 1998. Mr. Tussing was born in Johnstown, Pa., and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls and Akron most of his life. He retired in 1993 with 35 years service as a teacher for the Cuyahoga Falls Board of Education, having taught at Bolich Middle School, and was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. He was Master of Coventry Lodge 665, F&AM, in 1981. In 1986, the International Supreme Council elected him to receive its highest award, the De Molay Legion of Honor. In 1987-88, he was Commander in Chief of the Akron Consistory in Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Commandery, and a life member of O.E.A. He is survived by his wife, Janet; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Paul Lyon; brother-in-law and his wife, Charles and Mary Jean Lyon; cousin and her husband, Ellen and Richard Keck of Arizona; nieces, Elizabeth Lyon of Colorado and Jean Yates of Akron. Friends may call from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, where Coventry Lodge 665, F&AM, will conduct a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Monday. Barbara T. Ujcic (nee Pischak)
Barbara T. Ujcic (nee Pischak), 85, formerly of South Avenue in a home built by her husband, Frank, died April 15, 1998, at Barberton Citizens Hospital Skilled Nursing Pavilion, where she had been a resident for five years. Barbara was born in St. Clairsville, Ohio, and was a resident of Barberton since 1936. She was employed by O'Neil's department store in the Garden Shop, and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the American Slovenian Catholic Union--K.S.K.J. 111. Barbara's loves were gardening, needlework, and animals. She was preceded in death by husband, Frank; parents, Violet and Andrew Pischak; and wonderful stepmother, Catherine Pischak. She is survived by daughters, Mary Ujcic of Wheeling, Ill., Barbara (Patrick) O'Donnell of Rocky River, Ohio; brothers, George (June), John (Eleanore), and Joe; sister, Mary (Robert) Oliva, all of Kent; and sister-in-law, Maria Berghi of Italy. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at the Hahn Funeral Home, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Fr. Robert Wisniewski, celebrant. Clara S. Uminski, 85, of Twinsburg, dear sister of Eleanor Honkonen and the late Milton, Alfred, and Celia Pollard; loving aunt of Carol Feller, Art, Paul, and the late Tom Pollard, died Wednesday.
