John E. Tanner, 54, passed away May 19, 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Eunice Tanner; and brother, Max. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Neff of Nashport, Ohio, Karen Nichols of Orlando, Fla.; son, John E. Tanner of Dover, Ohio; sister, Mitzi (Charles) Cummings of Doylestown; five grandchildren; and longtime friend, Sandra Pilcavage and son, Thomas. Cremation has taken place. Iva A. (Ivy) Tyson
TALLMADGE -- Iva A. (Ivy) Tyson, 95, of Tallmadge died Saturday, May 16, 1998. Mrs. Tyson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 24, 1892. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nevil. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Richard Kreiser; grandson, Chris (Agnes) Kreiser; and great-grandson, Ryan C. Kreiser. NORTON -- Emma Jean Walters, ``Jean,'' went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 1998. Emma was born in Monterey, Tenn., and was a lifetime resident of Norton. She was retired from the Fairlawn Country Club, where she served as hostess, and attended Barberton Wesleyan Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by mother, ``Ma Todd''; daughter, Jo Ann McVaney; brother, Willard Todd; and sister, Ruby Clement. Emma is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, John and Betty Walters; loving brothers, Arthur ``Art,'' Joseph, Edgar, and Raymond Todd; loving sister and best friend, Beulah ``Boodie'' Trout; grandchildren, Janet, Lisa, John, Don, and Kristi; great-grandchildren, Amy, Amanda, Danny, Mary, Christine, and Ronnie; great-great-grandchildren, Joshua and JoAnna; and many nieces and nephews. Ada L. Waters, of Medina, 91, passed away at the October Hills Camp Grounds in Holmes County on May 17, 1998. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sharon Center. She was a homemaker. She is survived by daughters, Jean Waters and Betty Seymour; son, Don (Dixie) Waters of Louisburg, Tenn.; brother, Donald Becker of Xenia, Ohio; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; and grandson, Rick Seymour. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Waite and Son Funeral Home Medina Chapel, 765 N. Edna Clarissa Welfley
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Edna Clarissa Welfley, 85, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away May 13, 1998. Born in Akron, she was a life resident of the Cuyahoga Falls area, having worked for General Outdoor Advertising, and later becoming a self-employed bookkeeper. She was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, Falls Cancer Club, and the Unattachees Dance Club. She was an avid dancer, golfer, and bowler, who loved Dixieland jazz, her church, and made the best homemade ``Grandma's noodles.'' Preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Dale; and daughter, Carol, she is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Judy of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Lisa, Mark, James, Jennifer, Scott, Jeff, Nicole, Megan, and Aimee; 10 great-grandchildren; and loving friend, Roy Bendell. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Monday, 1 p.m., at the Bethany United Church of Christ, 1235 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls 44223, Rev. Stephen Gehlert and Rev. Irma Whipple, 72, passed away at her residence May 14, 1998. Lillian F. White, 83, passed away Saturday, May 30, 1998. She was born in Windber, Pa., and retired from the University of Akron food service department in 1985 with 17 years service. She was a member of Kenmore Senior Citizens. Mrs. White was preceded in death by husband, Russell, in 1983; sisters, Margarete Dayton, Kathleen Ake, Dorothy Williard; brothers, Evington, Verle, Foster, and Paul McClellan. She is survived by sisters, LaRue Kolarik, Jessie Seiler, and Marie (Wendell) Faith, all of Akron; brother, William McClellan of Stow; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews. Lillie G. White
Lillie G. White, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 15, 1998. Born April 1, 1904 in Port Gibson, Ms., she had been a resident of Summit County since 1924. She was a member of First Apostolic Faith Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Missionary Service League member and was a deacon's wife. She was employed by the family of Atty. Dudley Maxon for over 56 years. Lillie was preceded in death by husband, Walker White, parents, Louis and LeAnna Mitchell, five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by sister, Ella Mae Sheppard of Cuyahoga Falls; sisters-in law, Zoe Mitchell, Akron, Cleo Mitchell of Chicago, Il.; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; special cousins; adopted son, Freddie (Betty) Gill and a host of other friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 1998 at 7:30 P.M. at First Apostolic Faith Church, 790 Easter Ave., Akron, Ohio. District Elder Samuel L. Hampton officiating. Ruth Williams, 79, died May 16, 1998. Mrs. Williams was born in New Castle, Pa. and was a lifelong resident of the Akron area. A member of the New Covenant Presbyterian Church, she had formerly worked at O'Neil's and Halle's Department Stores. Preceded in death by husband of 59 years, Carl, in 1995; she is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Fran, Carl, Jr. and Sandy; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie and Tom Kerns; grandchildren, Kimberly, Bob, Rhea, Beth, Scott, Jocelyn, Tiffany and Jennifer; six great grandchildren; brothers, Derwood and Frank Watkins. Crystal J. Wix
Crystal J. Wix, 66, died Saturday, May 16, 1998. Mrs. Wix was born in Petroleum, W. Va., and had been an Ohio resident since 1944. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Ohio Bell Telephone Co. She was a member of Park United Methodist Church and Telephone Pioneers of America. Mrs. Wix had a great love for Africa and spent five weeks there on safari. Preceded in death by her granddaughter, Alysha, she is survived by her children, Steven Stump of Jacksonville, Florida, Van (Karen) Stump of Akron, Sheila Galeano of Cuyahoga Falls, Lee (Ken) Messner, also of Akron, and Paula (Matt) Coffelt of Canton; sisters, Nancy Scott of Bath, New Hampshire, Shirley Greeson of Raleigh, Nc., and Mary Humphreys of Parkersburg, W. Eula H. Wolford, 89, died May 18, 1998. Born in West Virginia, she had been a resident of Akron for 70 years. Mrs. Wolford was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple, where she was active with the Golden Agers. Preceded in death by her husband, William E., in 1966; and brothers, William and James Hensley, she is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Lenora and Elza Furbee of Akron; sisters, Jeanie Jarvis of Akron, and Leigh Hanscom of Bath Township; brother, John J. Elizabeth Forester Wyckoff, 80, of Hudson, died May 13, 1998, at Crown Center of Laurel Lake. She was the beloved wife of the late Taylor Wyckoff; loving mother of James (Katherine) Wyckoff of North Canton and Sarah ``Sally'' (Greg) Whitaker of Midland, Mich.; grandmother of Lindsey Wyckoff and Kristen Whitaker. Krome Yareff, 82, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at Akron City Hospital. He was born in Granite City, Ill., and was retired from Bonner and Buzzelli Distributing. He is survived by wife of 60 years, Angeline of Akron; sons, Thomas (Diana) and Bob (Sharon) all of Green; daughter, Pat (Don) Elkins of Green; sister, Eleanor Dotin of Akron; brother-in-law, Dr. Louis Vitantonio of Wickliffe; sister-in-law, Lucy Yareff of Akron; grandchildren, Michael (Michelle), David (Ronda), Alison, Heather, and Joshua; stepgrandchildren, Kim, Rick, Scot, Rhonda, and Teri; and many nieces and nephews. Vincent (Jimmy) Ziruolo
Vincent (Jimmy) Ziruolo, 79, passed away April 28, 1998, in Lyndhurst, N. J. He retired from General Tire after 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Elsie of New Jersey; brothers, Fred of Florida, Herman of Cuyahoga Falls; and sister, Margie Filippi of Wadsworth. Burial was in New Jersey.
