Rose Schneider
Rose A. Schneider, 86, of Kent, died Friday at Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights after a long illness.
Survivors include her husband, Albert S.; son, Donald (Jan); daughter, Mary Ann; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Three sisters and two brothers died previously.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Newman Center, 1424 Horning Road, Kent. Arrangements were made by Ferfolia Funeral Homes in Maple Heights.
Memorials may be made to The Pat E. Crisci Scholarship Fund-Kent State University Foundation.

Esther Jewell
Esther A. Jewell, 81, of Niles, died Saturday of pneumonia.
Born Dec. 17, 1916, in Duquesne, Pa., she was the daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth (Jeney) Kovacs.
Mrs. Jewell worked at the J.W. Woolworth company in Warren and was a housewife. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Newton Falls and a former member of the Blue Star Mothers in Newton Falls.
Survivors include her sons, Robert W. of Mayfield Village and Richard J. of Louisville, Ky.; daughters, Patricia Bryner of Garland, Texas, Mrs. Roger (Judy) Hood of Newton Falls, Mrs. Bruce (Karen) Kemp of Newton Falls; Mrs. Raymond (Phyllis) Housel of North Jackson; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, William Kovacs of Newton Falls; and sister, Helen Waldron of Warren. Her husband, Robert J. Jr., whom she married July 21, 1934, died Jan. 9, 1996; her great-grandson, Mark Robert Corio; brothers, Carl, Alex and James Kovacs and sisters, Mary Collins and Edna Staub, died previously.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Braceville Cemetery in Braceville. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of the Greater Youngstown Chapter.

Irene McClellan
WINDHAM - Irene J. McClellan, 77, of Windham, died Friday at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
Born Oct. 13, 1920, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Elmer and Minnie (Koch) Primeau.
A 20-year resident of the area, Mrs. McClellan was a homemaker. She belonged to Water of Life ministries and American Legion Auxiliary Post 674 in Windham.
Survivors include her husband, William, whom she married May 13, 1961; daughter, Carol Cain-Greer of Windham; stepchildren, William of Warren, Betty Dickey of Windham, Cheryl Musser of Windham, Rosella Freindberger of Altoona, Pa., Mary Ann Dickey of Warren; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Her sister, Verna Blakemore, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville, where services will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Stickle officiating. Burial will be in Windham Township Cemetery.

Mario Puccetti
Mario Puccetti, 58, of Niles, who once served as head chef at Cherry's Steak House in Ravenna, died Monday at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 15, 1939 in Lucca Toscana, Italy, he was the son of Dante and Giuseppina (Gemignani) Puccetti. He came to the United States in 1956 and moved to Niles in 1965.
Mr. Puccetti was co-owner of Station Square Restaurant in Liberty, Ohio. He previously was head chef at the VIP Restaurant in the Great East Plaza, Sandalini's and Cherry's Top-of-the-Mall in Eastwood Mall in Niles, the Living Room Lounge in Warren and Iacomini's Restaurant in Akron.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niles.
He served with the U.S. Army in Germany. He was an avid sports and horse racing fan.
Survivors include his wife, Michele (Marcello), whom he married in 1969; daughters, Marla of Hoboken, N. J. and Kristen of Niles; brother, Giulio of Niles; and sisters, Daria, Maria and Rita, all of Lucca Toscana. Two brothers and a sister died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel in Warren, where a service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niles. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Northeast Ohio.

Virginia R. Dvorak
MANTUA TOWNSHIP - Virginia R. Dvorak, 71, died Sunday at her home.
Born Feb. 28, 1926 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Bernard and Dorothy (Pepke) Borling. She had lived in Mantua for 48 years.
Mrs. Dvorak attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mantua.
Survivors include her son, Andrew (Linda) of Mantua; daughters, Deborah (Thomas) Mitchell of Hiram and Rebecca (Randall) Stone of Mantua; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, James, died in 1982. Two brothers also died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Shorts Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hiram.

Dorothy Harris
Dorothy Harris, 70, of St. Cloud, Fla., died Sunday.
Born in Broadheath, Cheshire, England, she moved to St. Cloud from Ohio in 1987.
Mrs. Harris was a homemaker.
She was the past president of American Legion Auxiliary No. 737 in Lake Milton. She was a member of the Junior Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include her husband, Jennings; son, Donald S. Harris of Lisbon; daughter, Barbara Brind of Warren; two grandchildren; and brother, Jack Marsh of Canada.
Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Fist Funeral Home & Crematory in St. Cloud, Fla.

Edmond Adolf Hafemeister
Edmond Adolf Hafemeister, 92, the father of James E. Hafemeister of Kent, died Sunday at N.H.C. Healthcare in Lewisburg, Tenn.
Born in Milwaukee, Wis., he was the son of Gustav and Helen (Schultz) Hafemeister.
Mr. Hafemeister retired from Heil Quaker.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Lewisburg First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his son, survivors include his daughter, Jean Hafemeister Hill of Chapel Hill, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held today at Bills-McGaugh & Floyd Funeral Home in Lewisburg, Tenn. Burial was in Sunset Park in Lewisburg.

Warren W. Scott
Services were held today for Warren W. Scott, 74, of Ravenna, who died Saturday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Dec. 21, 1923 in Lower Salem, Ohio, he was the son of Emmit and Laura (Dillion) Scott.
Mr. Scott retired as a machinist in 1987 from Troy Manufacturing.
He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Glenys (Kelloug), to whom he had been married 25 years; sons, Wilbert of Newton Falls, Richard (Bridgette) of South Carolina, and Bill and Tom (Heather), both of Ravenna; daughters, Mrs. Paul (Joyce) Hahn of Atwater and Mrs. John (Polly) Cain of Suffield; stepson, Jim Bogard; stepdaughters, Mrs. George (Jeannie) Tancos and Karen Fergeson, both of Garrettsville, and Darla Workman of Ravenna; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Sheldon of Idaho, Harold of Arizona and Jim of Kent. His brothers, Elmer and Lawrence, died previously.
Services were held at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.

Howell E. "Hop" Conner
BRIMFIELD - Howell E. "Hop" Conner, 86, died Sunday at his home.
Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, he was reared in Ellet. He had lived in Brimfield for 37 years.
Mr. Conner worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron for 37 years until he retired.
He was a member of Loyalty Masonic Lodge No. 645.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Perry), to whom was married for 59 years; daughters, Daun (Jim) Savoy of Brimfield, Karen of Suffield, Susan (Jerry) Holland of Cuyahoga Falls and Kimberly Hackett of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. His grandson, Jason Holland, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home in Mogadore. The Rev. Patrick Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park in Akron.
Memorials may be made to the Community of Christ Church, 834 Grant St., Akron 44311.

Ruth E. Croasmun
STREETSBORO - Ruth E. Croasmun, 77, died Monday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Jan. 2, 1921 in Coalport, Pa., she was the daughter of Robert J. and Lillian A. (Kruise) Dick. Formerly of New York, she had lived in Streetsboro for 30 years.
Mrs. Croasmun was main cashier and bookkeeper for DeBartolo Corp. Race Track Concessions.
She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro.
Survivors include her sons, H. John of Twin Lakes and Robert C. of Rootstown; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Dick of Pennsylvania; and sisters, Helen Stombaugh of Delaware and Grace Braniff and Mary Louise Carson, both of Pennsylvania. Her husband, M. Clayton Croasmun, died in October 1997. A son, Thomas, died in 1988. Her brothers, Robert, George and Larry Dick, also died previously.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and at 10 a.m. Thursday at Shorts Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro, with the Rev. Frederick Slaven officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Gordon Wesley Hartlieb
Former area resident Gordon Wesley Hartlieb, 77, of Anchorage, Alaska, died Jan. 27 at his home.
Born July 4, 1920 in Ravenna, he was the son of Mildred and Wesley Hartlieb. He attended West Virginia University and graduated from Kent State University. He earned his law degree from Ohio State University in 1953.
After passing the Ohio bar in June 1953, Mr. Hartlieb moved to Alaska and passed the Alaska bar. In 1954, he received presidential appointment as U.S. Commissioner for the Anchorage Precinct and served until 1956, when he co-founded the law firm of Hartlieb, Groh & Rader. He practiced law for 15 years, specializing in labor law.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War IIr.
Survivors include his wife, Dee (Moreau); sons, Raymond and Wesley (Robin); daughter, Mrs. Nathan (Lynda) Cooley; stepchildren, Nick and Marti; nine grandchildren; stepfather, Tony Silva; brother, Raymond (Nancy) Santoro; and sister, Mrs. John (Virginia) Beard.
Arrangements were made by Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Anchorage.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Anchorage, 3305 Arctic Boulevard, Anchorage, Alaska 99053.

Naomi R. Robb
Naomi R. Robb, 89, of Sebring, died Thursday at Northeast Ohio Alzheimer's Research Center.
Born Jan. 19, 1909 in Tarentum, Pa., she was the daughter of Floyd and Elizabeth (Lauer) Lowther.
Mrs. Robb served as the postmaster at the Deerfield Post Office.
She was a member of the Deerfield United Methodist Church and the Deerfield American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her sons, H. Thomas of Acworth, Ga. and Richard of Berlin Center; daughters, Gale Forst of Woodbury, Tenn., Martha Vogel of Santa Rosa, Calif., Doris Weisner of Simonton, Texas, Susan Mercer of Torrance, Calif. and Linda Werk of El Camino Village, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one great-great-great-grandson; and sister, Gladys Shaughnessy of Jacksonville, Ill. Her husband, Henry, died Aug. 17, 1985. Her brother, Floyd, also died previously.
Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the 2 p.m. Sunday services at the Deerfield United Methodist Church. The Rev. May Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Deerfield United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by the Gednetz-Kuzck Funeral Home in Sebring.

James A. Spellman
RANDOLPH - James A. Spellman, 94, died Wednesday.
Born in Cuyahoga Falls, he had been a Randolph resident most of his life.
He was a farmer and retired in October of 1968 from B.F. Goodrich Tire and Rubber Company.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Randolph and of the Goodrich 35-Year Club.
Survivors include his wife, Alice, to whom he was married 58 years; sons, Joe (Lyn) and Richard (Delores), each of Randolph, and Loren (Susan) of Stow; daughter, Lois Rinehart of Randolph; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Andrew "Bud" (Betty) of Uniontown. His parents, seven brothers and sisters, and a grandson, Dennis, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Ave. in Mogadore. Services will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road in Randolph with the Rev. James Lang officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Randolph Fire Department or the Kent Visiting Nurse Service.

Orville Free Carpenter
FREEDOM - Orville Free Carpenter, 86, died Thursday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Arrangements will be announced by the Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville.

Darwin "John" Rohrbaugh Sr.
NELSON - Darwin "John" Rohrbaugh Sr., 62, died Thursday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna after a brief illness.
Born March 6, 1935 in Maysville, W Va., he was the son of Arnold and Ollie (Berg) Rohrbaugh. He had lived in Nelson for the past 20 years and had been a Garrettsville area resident for 32 years.
He retired in 1986 as a truck driver for Boltsum Brothers in Akron. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellouise (Hartman), to whom he was married Oct. 22, 1955; sons, Darwin Jr. (Doris) of Garrettsville, Tracy (Pattie) of Tallmadge, Matthew of Warren, Mark (Pam) and Wade, both of Garrettsville; daughter, Kathy Clouse of Garrettsville; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Forest (Jane) of Maryland; and sisters, Evadot Davis and Maxine Gank, both of Maryland, Amagene (Clarence) Metheny of Ravenna, and Louise (Ralph) Wrigley of Warren. His parents died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville, where services will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Bob Heeger officiating. Burial will be in Harrington Cemetery in Nelson.

Michael "Mike" Dittmer
Michael "Mike" Dittmer, 40, of Warren, died Wednesday at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 3, 1957 in Warren, he was the son of Carl and Virginia (Crites) Dittmer.
Mr. Dittmer worked at RMI in Niles.
He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Warren and the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed horseback riding.
Survivors include his daughter, Nicole of Warren; father, Carl Dittmer of Warren; mother, Virginia Frederick of Warren; grandmothers, Mae McKain of Warren and Lucy Crites of West Virginia; and brothers, Jim of Wooster, Donald of Avon Lake and Randy of Champion.
There will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery in Paris Township.

Glenn O. Walker
Services will be held Saturday for Glenn O. Walker, 79, of Longcoy Avenue, Kent, who died Tuesday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
He was born June 27, 1918 in Anteroom, the son of Harry and Edna (Eons) Walker. He was a graduate of New Philadelphia HIgh School and came to Kent in 1941.
Mr. Walker had worked at Black & Decker and Lamb Electric, and retired from Chrysler in Twinsburg. He worked at All Pro Sports for the past 27 years.
He served in the 2nd Marine Division in the South Pacific during World War II. He enjoyed fishing and playing sports.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (Hart), whom he married Oct. 2, 1937; sons, Ed (Linda) of Kent and David (Sandra) of Chesterland; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandsons; and sister, Faye Roan of Clearwater, Fla. His son, Thomas, died in 1992.
Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, with a prayer service set for 8:30 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Lissy officiating. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, Oh. 44514.

Robert Dennis
Robert Dennis, 73, of Ravenna, died Monday.
Services will be announced by Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.
