Douglas Scott
A memorial service will be held Saturday for Douglas Ford Scott, 53, of Munroe Falls, who died Dec. 2 at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
Born April 29, 1944 in Youngstown, Mr. Scott was a resident of Munroe Falls for over 27 years.
Mr. Scott worked as a systems analyst. He was the clerk and treasurer of Munroe Falls for nine years and also served as a member of Munroe Falls' original charter committee and municipal council.
He was a board member of the local Lions Club and the Hudson Montessori School. He was a scoutmaster of the First Christian Church's Boy Scout Troop 173 in Stow. He was a past president and member of the board of trustees of the Summit Lapidary Club and a member of the Akron Mineral Society.
Survivors include his wife, Saima, of Munroe Falls; son, J.T. of Olympia, Wash.; daughter, Maialisa of Seattle; and sister, Mrs. Art (Cynthia) Curtis of Holden, Mass. His parents, Kenneth Duke and Florence Willsey Scott, died previously.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kent State University Newman Center Chapel in Kent.

Jean Jackson Gombos
Jean Jackson Gombos, 67, of Newton Falls, died Monday at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
Born Aug. 8, 1930, in Gowen, Okla., she was the daughter of William C. and Fausta (Ceola) Jackson.
She retired as an inspector from the Englehard and Harshaw Chemical Corporation in Solon.
She was a member of St. Mary Church in Newton Falls. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth School in Cleveland. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and music.
Survivors include her husband, John E., whom she married Sept. 14, 1984; and a brother, Frank, of Springdale, Ark.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Newton Falls.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. or the Sacred Heart League, Walls, Miss. 38686-6890.

Robert Clark
Former Uniontown resident Robert Clark, 76, of Ft. Myers, Fla. died Friday in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
He was born Aug. 12, 1921 in Edinburg, Ill, the son of Cecil and Alma Clark. He retired from Goodyear Tire, where he had been a quality control engineer.
Mr. Clark had been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls and Cuyahoga Falls Massonic Lodge 735. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances; sons James of Colombia, Maryland and Jeffrey of Newton Falls; daughter Debra Keller of Uniontown; six grandchildren; brother Walter of Cuyahoga Falls; sister Rhea Jane Gordon of Akron. His brother, Paul, died previously.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Carl Holm officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park in Akron.

David Curfman
BRIMFIELD - Services will be held at Wednesday for David Dale Curfman, 75, who died Sunday.
He was born in Kenmore and lived most of his life in the Brimfield area.
Mr. Curfman was self-employed as a tool distributor, retiring in 1987 after 12 years of service. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Brimfield, United Methodist Men and the Gideons. He served several years on the Field Board of Education and coached little league. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Edna; sons, David (Linda) and Donald (Sandra); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Virginia) of Columbus and Budd (Lois) of Brady Lake; and sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Louise) Brooks of Tallmadge. His brothers, Merle and Raymond; and sister, Hazel Riddle died previously.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church of Brimfield, 1235 Tallmadge Road, with the Rev. Richard Smith and the Rev. David Andrews officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 157 W. Cedar St., Akron or to the church.
Arrangements were made by Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home in Akron.

John Todd
ATWATER - John "Jack" Todd, 68, died Sunday at his residence following a long illness.
Born Aug. 30, 1929 in Cuyahoga Falls, he was the son of John W. and Eathel (Turley) Todd. He had lived in Atwater for the last three years and was formerly of Ravenna.
Mr. Todd retired from the Ford Motor Co., Walton Hills.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1055, the American Legion No. 331, the Ravenna Eagles and Ravenna Moose clubs.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte (Wyers); son, Jay of Atwater; daughters, Kathy Woodruff and Patty Daniels, both of Ravenna; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Sara Catlin of Atwater.
Visitation will be held one hour before the service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, the Rev. Sam Goebel will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.

Ruth Aurand
EDINBURG - Ruth Althea Aurand, 96, of Rock Spring Road, died Monday.
Born Jan. 17, 1901 in Middletown, she was the daughter of David R. and Addie (Conroc) Bachtel.
Survivors include her daughters, Geraldine Snodgrass of Kent, Elizabeth Mitchell of Rootstown and Laura Jane DiCapito of Kent; 18 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Ronald Baker Aurand died in 1965. Her son, Jack, and daughter, Priscilla, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Russell Goldner officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.

James Pittman
ATWATER - James I. Pittman, 82, died Sunday at Altercare of Ravenna following a declining period of health.
Born July 21, 1915, in Ravenna, he was the son of Oliver and Hazel (Carlisle) Pittman.
Mr. Pittman had retired from the Waterloo School System where he had been employed as a mechanic. He had attended the First Freedom Baptist Church in Brimfield.
Survivors include sons, James (Becky) of Beloit, John (Ying) of Seattle, Jack (Margie) of Mineral Ridge and Jeff (Barb) of Atwater; daughters, Mrs. Ed (JoAnn) Sanuda of Ravenna, Janice of Gaffney, S.C., and Mrs. Doug (Janeen) Dawson of Atlanta; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Merle of Sheffield Lake. His wife, Lena M. "Sue", died previously in 1993.
Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until services at 1 p.m. at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, with Mark Lattimer officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna.

John Barney
John Barney, 80, of LaGrange, formerly of Ravenna, died Sunday at Autumn Aegis Nursing Center, Lorain, following a long illness.
Born Dec. 10, 1917, in Vestaburg, Pa., he had lived in LaGrange with his sister, Mary E. Fugitt, for a year-and-a-half after moving from Ravenna.
He was a retired welder and had worked for General Motors in Hudson for more than 30 years. Mr. Barney then worked for a short time with Terex Corp. also in Hudson.
Mr. Barney was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include sisters, Mary E. Fugitt of LaGrange, and Pauline Ruemmele of Norwalk. His parents, four brothers and two sisters died previously.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Busch-Curtis-Scheuffler Family Chapel, 114 Second St., Elyria. Services will be at 10 a.m.Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Sieth of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.

James King
BRIMFIELD - James L. "Happy" King, 89, died Monday.
Born Sept. 4, 1908, in Macedonia, he was the son of Oscar and Tirzah (Rufener) King.
Mr. King was a farmer his entire life. He was well known in the Brimfield community for helping his neighbors and friends.
Survivors include sisters, Naomi Moss of Parkman, Ruth Bailey of Conneautville, and Geneva Keller of Streetsboro.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services Wednesday at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Kent Chapel, with Rev. Gerald Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Brimfield.
Memorials may be made to the Brimfield Memorial Kelso House Association, in care of the Historical Society of Brimfield.

Virginia Stockdale
Services for Virginia M. (Brode) Stockdale, 80, of Kent, who died Nov. 30, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maple Grove Cemetery Chapel in Ravenna with Deacon Russell Brode officiating.
Arrangements were made by the Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.

Russell T. Kiko
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday for Russell T. Kiko Sr., 82, an auctioneer in the Portage area who died Friday at Mercy Medical Center in Canton after a long illness.
Born Oct. 7, 1915 in Massillon, he was the son of Ferdinand and Elizabeth (Rohr) Kiko. A life resident of the Canton and Minerva areas, he resided in Minerva.
Mr. Kiko was retired from his auction firm, which he and his wife began in 1942 and operated with their 10 sons and three daughters.
He was a member of the National Auctioneers Hall of Fame and the Ohio Auctioneers Hall of Fame.
He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and a retired charter board member of Consumers National Bank.
He was a 1945 graduate of Reppert School of Auctioneers.
Survivors include his wife, Coletta M. (Gill), whom he married Nov. 26, 1938; sons, Russell Jr. (Pam) of Salem, Richard (Patricia) of North Canton, Daniel (Pam) of Salem, Frederick of Carlsbad, Calif., James (Suzanne) of Paris, Thomas of Canton, L. Joseph (Janice) of East Canton, Eugene of Canton and John (Lynn) of Alliance; daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Wanda) Lahr of Navarre, Mrs. Bill (Margery) Cleary of Mantua and Mrs. Lennie (Bertha) Milano of Minerva; 63 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Herbert of East Canton, Willard of Minerva and Robert of Louisville; and sisters, Mrs. Roy (Jean) Harsh of North Canton and Mrs, Clarence (Helen) Dittmer Jr. of Canal Fulton. A son, William P., brother, Gilbert, sisters, Esther Heather and Betty Floom, and granddaughter, Tamara Kiko, died previously.
Calling hours will be held anytime Sunday, with the family present from 4 to 7 p.m., at Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva and from 9:30 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva, with the Rev. Msgr. John Campbell and the Rev. Msgr. Cronan Malloy officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Canton.
Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association of Stark County.

David Curfman
BRIMFIELD - David Dale Curfman, 75, a former member of the Field Board of Education, died Sunday.
Born in Kenmore, he was the son of George and Carrie (Heck) Curfman. He lived most of his life in the Brimfield area.
Mr. Curfman was self-employed as a tool distributor. He retired in 1987 after 12 years of service.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Brimfield, United Methodist Men and the Gideons. He formerly served on the Field Board of Education and coached Little League.
He served in the the 945th Field Artillery Battalion of the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Edna, to whom he was married for 51 years; sons, David (Linda), and Donald (Sandra), of Brimfield; daughter, Donna Anders, of Brimfield; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Virginia) of Columbus and Budd (Lois) of Brady Lake; and sister, Louise (Kenneth) Brooks of Tallmadge. His brother, George M. "Merle" Curfman, Dec. 8. His brother, Raymond, and sister, Hazel Riddle, also died previously.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith United Methodist Church of Brimfield, with the Rev. Richard Smith and the Rev. David Andrews officiating.

Lynnette Beatty
GARRETTSVILLE - Lynnette H. Beatty, 42, died Sunday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna after a long illness.
Born Dec. 3, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa, she had been a resident of the Garrettsville and Nelson areas for five years. She had lived for several years in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Beatty was a homemaker. While living in Florida, she worked in retail sales at Poston's Crafts and Art Supply.
She was a member of the Church at Troy, where she had served as president of the Ladies Missionary Group and played flute in the choir. She enjoyed crafts and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Danny A. Sr.; son, Danny A. Jr., and daughters, Melissa A. and Kalah R., all at home; mother, Donna Jimenez of California; brothers, Timothy, Roman and Shawn Jimenez, all of California; and sisters, Teresa Jimenez and Victoria Wing, both of California; and Rayma DeFore of Minnesota.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Troy, 18712 Mumford Road, where services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. James Beatty officiating. Burial will be in Troy Township Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.

Christopher Watts
DEERFIELD - Christopher Columbus Watts, 81, died Saturday in the Community Care Center of Alliance.
Born Dec. 20, 1915 in Genoa, W.Va., he was the son of Taylor and Katherine (Maynard) Watts. He lived in Barberton until moving to Deerfield in 1972.
Mr. Watts was the owner and operator of C&S Tire of Deerfield.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann (Landis); sons, Kenneth and James of Parma, Christopher Columbus Watts Jr., of Brunswick, Robert of Cleveland, Frank, Steven T. and Richard D., all of Strongsville, and James Damron of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughter, Joann Rienerth of Middleburg; stepson, Dennis Ward of Deerfield; 26 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth of Urbana, Ill., and a sister, Romaine Lucas of Daytona Beach, Fla.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Atwater Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Mae Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery.

Edward White
PALMYRA - Edward H. White, 86,, died Saturday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Dec. 9, 1911 in Braceville, Ohio, he was the son of Edward and Rose (Brockway) White. He had lived in Palmyra since 1962 and was formerly of Paris Township.
Mr. White was a foreman at the Ravenna Arsenal and a custodian in the Southeast School District.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Ravenna.
Survivors include his wife, Christine, to whom he was married for 62 years; sons, James of Ravenna and Barry of Fredericksburg, Va.; daughters, Darlene Lougen of Mantua, Nelrose Eaton of Tennessee and Eloise Bennett of Ravenna; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Alfred of Arizona. Four brothers and two sisters died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Dr. Russell Goldner officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.

James Pittman
ATWATER - James I. Pittman, 82, died Sunday.
Services will be announced by the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.

Jean Biggard
Former Newton Falls resident Jean A. Biggard, 68, of Columbus, died Thursday at Riverside Hospital in Columbus of heart failure.
Born Feb. 22, 1929 in McDonald, Ohio, she was the daughter of George and Hannah (Douglas) Brown.
Mrs. Biggard was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Riverside Methodist Church in Arlington, Ohio. She enjoyed sewing.
Survivors include her son, Herbert Biggard of Columbus; five grandchildren; brother, George Brown Jr. of Landover, Md.; and sister, Mrs. Max (Christine) McQouwn of Beaufort, S.C. Her husband, Howard, whom she married June 1, 1957, died May 28, 1993. Her sister, Margaret, also died previously.
Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. Saturday services at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Burial will be in Newton Falls Cemetery.
