Marian L. Hileman
Marian Louise Hileman, 84, formerly of Gratis, died Monday, March 8, in Lexington, Ky.
Born March 4, 1915, in Eaton, she was the daughter of Charles and Edith (Jordan) Sliver. She and her husband were owners of Hileman Trucking in Gratis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Hileman, in 1986.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Beverly Hileman of Trotwood; a daughter, Vernetta Ditmer of Trotwood; a half brother, Ed Sliver of Eaton; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
There were no public services. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.

Helen H. Moberly
Helen H. Moberly, 87, formerly of East Somers Street, Eaton, and currently of Greenbriar Nursing Center for the past three and a half years, died Tuesday afternoon, March 9, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind., after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 5, 1912, in Estill County, Ky., she was the daughter of John and Louanne (Hale) Henderson. She retired in 1974 from Parker Poultry in Eaton, was a past member of Eagles Lodge #2202 of Eaton, and a lifelong member of the VFW Auxiliary of Eaton.
Survivors include seven daughters and sons-in-law, Lelia and James Wymer, Anna and Oscar Dewulf, all of North Baltimore, Ohio, Mabel and Joe Shafer of Toledo, Norma and Richard Mikesell, Dorothy and Curtis Early, Shirley and James Jellison, all of West Alexandria, Linda and Mel O'Dell of Eaton.
Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Shirley Moberly of Oldsmar, Fla., Dale and Phyllis Moberly, and Michael Moberly, all of Eaton; 35 grandchildren; over 60 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Moberly, in 1975; children, William Tevis Moberly Jr. in 1931, Oscar D. Moberly in 1937, Mary Edith Taylor in 1994; grandson, Daniel Joe Moberly in 1958; great-granddaughter, Erica Lynn Moberly in 1983; sisters, Betsy Whitesell in 1977, Pearl Sarver in 1986, Mary Ogg in 1990, Jewell I. Maxel in 1996, Beulah Van Winkle in 1998; brothers, Elmer Henderson in 1973, Oscar Henderson in 1975, John M. Henderson in 1981 and Emery Henderson in 1997.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 13, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Lowell T. Spencer and the Rev. Jack Moore officiating. The VFW conducted memorial services Friday evening, March 12, following visitation. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery near West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society-Preble County Unit, or to the Eaton Emergency Squad.

Isabelle R. Moore
Isabelle R. Moore, 87, of Eaton, died Wednesday, March 10, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Oct. 8, 1911, in Darke County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Ione (Shewman) Radford, and had lived in Preble County most of her life. She retired from the Eaton schools in 1972 after 18 years as a school teacher.
Her husband, Mearl C. Moore, whom she married July 4, 1936, died Nov. 28, 1994.
Survivors include a son, Kent D. Moore of Covington, Ohio; a daughter, Karen I. Hercules of Wooster, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services were Saturday, March 13, at Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris, with the Rev. James William Whitley officiating. There was no public calling. Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, was in charge of arrangements.

Russell H. Petro
Russell H. Petro, 86, of 2050 Chester Blvd., Richmond, Ind., died Wednesday morning, March 10, at Heritage Regency Nursing Home in Richmond.
Born July 16, 1912, in Connersville, Ind., he was the son of Silis and Lou Etta (Haslum) Petro, and had lived in the area all his life. He retired in 1968 from the College Corner Implement Co., where he worked as a mechanic for 18 years. Prior to that, he was a truck driver and farmer.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. and Mary Petro of Camden, James E. and Judy Petro of College Corner, Ohio; daughters and son-in-law, Jean E. Isaacs of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, Judith A. and William T. Jr. Thacker of Richmond, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Naomi Petro, in 1984; a brother, John Petro; a half brother, William Murray; and a grandson, Robert Petro Jr.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 13, at Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner, Ohio, with the Rev. Dennis Baum officiating. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Morning Sun.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Church.

Susan L. Inloe
Susan L. Inloe, 85, of Little League Drive, Eaton, formerly of North Cherry Street, died Wednesday, March 10, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton.
Born Sept. 22, 1913, in Eaton, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Nellie (Pence) Mendenhall. She was a 1932 graduate of Eaton High School. She was a retired waitress, having worked at Dowlar's Cafe and the Eaton Country Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Eaton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Inloe, in 1987; stepfather, Dennis R. Murray Sr.; brothers, Howard Ray Mendenhall, George Mendenhall and Dennis R. Murray Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Roach and Judy Reed, both of Eaton; two sisters-in-law, Rosetta Mendenhall of Eaton and Peggy Mendenhall of Anderson, Ind.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, March 15, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Emergency Squad.

William W. Smith
William W. Smith, 73, of New Lebanon, died Thursday, March 11, at the VA Medical Center in Dayton.
He was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Nicholasville, Ky. He retired from the maintenance department of Wayne Works Industries of Richmond, Ind.; was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post #762 of New Lebanon.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. (Bowsman) Smith, whom he married Dec. 24, 1954; children, Harry W. Smith, Hazel L. Smith and Lori K. Smith, all of New Lebanon; and a sister, Peggy Baker of Versailles, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Myrtle (Clark) Smith; and brother, Rueben Smith.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 13, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor James Whorton officiating. Presentation of Military Honors was by American Legion Post #762 of New Lebanon. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

Jesse A. McGriff
Jesse A. McGriff, 83, of Wrenn Street, New Paris, died Thursday evening, March 11, at Heartland of Eaton after an extended illness.
Born July 22, 1915, in Darke County, he was the son of the late Granville and Mary (Rogers) McGriff. He had worked for Swayne-Robinson, retiring in 1986.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe McGriff; and a sister, Weltha Marooney.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Eloise Loretta (Markley) McGriff of New Paris; a son, Larry Joe McGriff of Richmond, Ind.; daughters and son-in-law, Beverly Kay and Carl Weston of Naples, Fla., and Becky Sue Juday of New Paris; five grandsons; and three great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family. Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Northwest Emergency Squad, or to the Northwest Fire Department.

Mary F. Branam
Mary Frances (Chenault) Banfield Branam, 69, of Frenchburg, Ky., died Thursday, March 11, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky.
Born May 2, 1929, in Hardin County, Ky., she was the daughter of Richie and Frances Merrit Berry Chenault. She was retired from Hobart Manufacturing Co. Mrs. Branam was a member of the Frenchburg First Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, Dallas Branam; a son, Larry (Sonya) Banfield of Eaton; a grandson, Christopher Banfield of Fairfield; a granddaughter, Brandi Banfield of Eaton; a stepson, Ronnie (Rita) Branam of Lexington, Ky.; a step-granddaughter, Michelle Ralston of Lexington, Ky.; two step-great-granddaughters; two sisters, Ruthie Jones and Daisy Ziegler, both of Covington, Ky.; and a brother, Bob Chenault of Covington, Ky.
She was preceded in death by a son, Randall Wayne Banfield; a brother, Richard Chenault; a sister, Elizabeth "Abbey" Reed; and her first husband, William Edgar Banfield Jr.
Funeral services were Monday, March 15, at the Frenchburg First Church of God, Frenchburg, Ky., with the Rev. Roger Wells officiating. Burial was in Fagan Cemetery there.

Daniel P. Gambrell
Daniel Patrick Gambrell, 20, of Eaton, died Friday, March 12, in Eaton.
Born Nov. 22, 1978, in Fairborn, he was the son of Robert and Barbara (Anderson) Gambrell. He attended Preble Shawnee and Edgewood high schools, and was employed as a laborer at Anderson Pallet Company in Lewisburg. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Trenton.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Robert and Shirley Gambrell of Beavercreek; his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Dennis Rogers of Gratis; a brother, Brian Gambrell of Eaton; a stepbrother, Dennis (Misty) Rogers of West Elkton; a stepsister, Christina (Jeff) Rickard of Gratis; grandparents, Myron and Betty Goodwin of Seven Mile, and John and Mildred Hangbers of Seminole, Fla.; step-grandparents, William and Margorie Rogers of Camden; his girlfriend, Jamie Goins and her son, Austin of Eaton; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the First Southern Baptist Church, 35 N. Liberty St., Camden, with the Rev. Greg Jackson and the Rev. Raymond Rothwell officiating. R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, Camden, is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Stayrook
Mildred Stayrook, 78, of West Second Street, West Alexandria, died Saturday, March 13, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born Sept. 12, 1920, she was the daughter of Roy and Mary (Tapalman) Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Stayrook; three sons, Forest Rivers of West Alexandria, Frank Rivers of Eaton and Don Stayrook of West Alexandria; three daughters, Joyce Foster of Miamisburg, Janet Donthnier of West Alexandria and Wanda DeCarlo of Eaton; a brother, Lawrence Smith of Eaton; a sister, Eunice Storer of Houston, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Martin and Isabel Wright.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Daniel Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria.

Larry D. Turner
Larry D. Turner, 75, of Lewisburg, died Saturday, March 13, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born Sept. 4, 1923, in West Manchester, he was the son of the late Linn and Belle (Kessler) Turner. He was a 1941 graduate of Monroe High School, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Turner retired in 1988 after 20 years with Carter Lumber in Centerville, Ind., and was manager of Lewisburg Lumber Co. for several years. He was a member of Paul Sodders Post #213 American Legion and Trinity Lutheran Church, both of Lewisburg.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fremont and Bruce Turner.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Jeanne (Althaus) Turner; children and spouses, Daniel Scott and Renda Howell, Charles Christopher and Lois Howell, all of Lewisburg, Barbara Jo and Stephen Kendall of Richmond, Ind.; brothers, Keith Turner of Kettering and Dudley Turner of West Manchester; sisters, Joan Zuzola of Lewisburg and Phoebe Ann Stayton of Sidney; grandchildren, Thomas Howell, Heather Jo (Kyle) Cline, Brian Kendall and David Howell.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 511 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg, with the Rev. James N. Lehman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Burial, with military graveside services by the Preble County Honor Guard, will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg. Barnes Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
