USA High School Yearbooks by State and County

Ernest C. Green
Ernest C. (E. German) Green, formerly of Eaton, died Wednesday, April 21.
He was the son of Miller H. Sr. and Elfrieda S. (Eidenberg) Green. He was a veteran of the U.S. armed services.
Survivors include two nieces, Susan M. Green and Catherine F. Green; a cousin, Helga and Evart Van der Meer of the Netherlands; an uncle and aunt, Hans and Gertrude Schmidt of Germany.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Baker-Hazel Funeral Home, 5555 Philadelpha Drive at North Main Street, Dayton, with Father Jim Schutte officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Preble County Fine Arts Center, Eaton, Ohio 45320; or to the Visiting Nurses Association of Montgomery County.

Steven R. Michael
Steven Russell Michael, 63, of Camden, died Tuesday, April 27, at his home after a two-year illness.
Born May 3, 1935, in Preble County, he was the son of Hubert and Florence (Gault) Michael. He retired in 1998 from Delphi (Harrison) in Moraine City after 29 years. Mr. Michael was a U.S. Army veteran, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of George M. Verity Lodge in Middletown and a life member of the American Rifle Association. He was an antique dealer, horseman, hunter, fisherman and camper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Hubert Michael.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Michael; six sons, Stephen Jr. (Brenda) Michael of West Manchester, Jack (Kay) Michael of New Paris, Bruce (Lydia) Michael and Pete (Donna) Michael of Eaton, Ronald (Manuela) Michael, Steve (Peggy) Kelso of Lawrenceville, Ga.
Also surviving are three daughters, Dianne (Daryl) Baker of West Manchester, Tonya (Raymond) Martin of El Paso, Texas, Karen (John) Busteed of Camden; four brothers, Dean (Connie) Michael of Camden, Paul (Beth) Michael of Eaton, Jack (Iretta) Michael of Indiana, Danny (Mary) Michael of New Madison; a sister, Sue (Sonny) Hileman of Camden; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services are pending at R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, Camden.

Dixie M. Gulley
Dixie Mae Gulley, 71, of Lewisburg, died Friday, April 9, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born March 23, 1928, in Grayson, Ky., she was the daughter of Lee and Idella (Jarvis) Hall. She was a volunteer for Project Christmas Smiles and Head Start at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewisburg.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Archie E. Gulley; sons and daughter-in-law, Larry Todd, Archie E. Jr. and Sue Gulley, all of Columbus, and Howard E. Gulley of Lewisburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Glenna J. and Buddy Whited of Hilliard, Ohio; brothers and sisters-in-law, L.D. and Brenda Hall, David and Louella Hall, all of Trotwood.
Also surviving are sisters and brother-in-law, Nina Hall of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Wanda A. and Don Williams of West Chester; a sister-in-law, Jean Gulley of Dayton; seven grandchildren, Ace E. Gulley and Natasha C. Gulley, both of Lewisburg, Andy, Scott and Casey Todd, Paula Sue Gulley and Mike Cole, all of Columbus; several great-grandchildren including Robert Gulley of Lewisburg; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were Monday, April 12, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg.

George T. Higgs
George T. Higgs, 86, of New Lebanon, died Saturday, April 10, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born Sept. 18, 1912, in New Paris, he was the son of the late Jesse W. and Maggie Marie (McClure) Higgs. He was a 1930 graduate of Jefferson Township High School in New Paris. Mr. Higgs retired in 1974 as manager of Hill Floral Products of Dayton after 30 years' employment. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II (1943-1945) and was a POW for over a year. He was a member of American Legion Post #762 of New Lebanon.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, ReEtta M. (Pickens) Higgs; a daughter and son-in-law, Darla J. and John Brohas of Brookville; a brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Helen Higgs of Richmond, Ind.; sisters and brother-in-law, Maxine Emrick of New Madison, Doris and Howard Eichhorn of Mt. Dora, Fla.; two grandsons and wives, Brian L. and Deborah Petry, Matthew G. and Dee Petry; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Joshua Petry.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, 109 W. Main St., with the Rev. Don Boyer officiating. Burial, with full military graveside honors, will be in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mary D. Wood
Mary Ditmer Wood, 88, formerly of East Somers Street, Eaton, died Saturday, April 10, at Heartland of Eaton.
Born Sept. 15, 1910, in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of Benjamin F. and Nora E. (Dafler) Buehner. She retired from B&M Tavern in 1974. Mrs. Wood attended Eaton Baptist Temple.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roscoe C. Ditmer, in 1975, and Floyd S. Wood, in 1986; a son, Roy Eugene Ditmer, in 1986; brothers, Roy and Charles Buehner; a sister, Eva Fisher; and a great-granddaughter, Carrie Sexton.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Brower of West Alexandria, Shirley Riley of Melbourne, Fla., and Linda Webb of Eaton; sons, Robert Ditmer of Trotwood, Don Ditmer and Kenny Ditmer, both of Eaton; a sister, Beryl Surber of Brookville; brothers, Everett Buehner of Dayton, William Buehner of Franklin and James Buehner of Farmersville; 35 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 13, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Lowell T. Spencer officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Baptist Temple.

Richard L. Terhaar
Richard L. Terhaar, 68, formerly of Williamsburg, Ind., died Friday, April 30, at Santa Rosa Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, after a short illness.
Born April 4, 1931, in Harrisburg, Ind., he was the son of Joseph and Ruby (Weaver) Terhaar. He was retired from an air conditioning factory in San Antonio.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Wright of Elgin, Okla., and Tonya Hicks of Eaton; a stepdaughter, Tina Wolf of Richmond, Ind.; five brothers, Harry, John and Tony Terhaar, all of Williamsburg, Ind., Joseph Terhaar Jr. of Greensfork, Ind., and George Terhaar of Centerville, Ind.; three sisters, Elsie Terhaar of Williamsburg, Ind., Anna Tornes of Sunbury, Ohio, and Rose Staight of Eaton; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard L. Terhaar Jr.; and two brothers, Tom and Lawrence Terhaar.
Funeral services were Friday, May 7, at Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, Fountain City, Ind., with the Rev. Max Knight officiating. Burial was in Dublin Cemetery.

Kevin M.S. Smith
Kevin Matthew Steven "Penguin" Smith, 24, of New Lebanon, died Monday, May 3, as the result of an automobile accident.
He was Sept. 30, 1974, in Dayton, and was a 1992 graduate of Dixie High School in New Lebanon. He had worked for Heidelberg Distributing Company in Dayton as a route sales and delivery driver, and was a member of Teamsters Union Local #957.
Survivors include his parents, Linda F. and Kent Anspaugh of New Lebanon, and Dennis R. and Kathy Smith of West Alexandria; a daughter, Emilee Elizabeth Anne Smith of Dayton; brothers and sisters, Denny R. and wife Janet Smith of Dayton, Heidi Anspaugh of New Lebanon, Jason Smith and Leslie Rupert, both of New Carlisle.
Also surviving are maternal grandparents, Daina and Mary Webb of Dayton, Don and Marian Woolery of New Lebanon, Norm and Loretta Anspaugh of New Carlisle; paternal grandparents, Carl R. and Betty W. Smith of Lewisburg; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Votaw of New Lebanon.
Other survivors are uncles and aunts, Phillip Smith of Lewisburg, Doug Smith of Dayton, Charles Palk of Beavercreek, Bordley Palk of New Lebanon, Lori Anspaugh of Dayton, Eric and Bev Anspaugh of Arcanum, Lance and Kitty Anspaugh of Farmersville.
Also, nieces and nephews, Kayla and Kendra Smith, David Smith, Brandon Noe, Jenny, Amber, Sytease, Leslie and Jason Smith; best friend, Bill Buxton of New Lebanon; numerous cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 6, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastors Eric Anspaugh and Rod Wentzel officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

Mary E. Thompson
Mary E. Thompson, 76, formerly of New Paris, died Monday evening, May 3, at Vancrest Healthcare Center, Eaton, following a lengthy illness.
Born March 1, 1923, in Fountain City, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Earl R. and Nannie B. (Kelley) Ruby. She retired in 1980 from the east side Kmart in Richmond, Ind., after 12 years. She and her husband had been farmers in Jackson Township, Preble County, for 50 years.
She was preceded in death on Oct. 11, 1997, by her husband, C. Leon Thompson, whom she married Sept. 18, 1939; and brother, Donald Ruby.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Ann and John Virag of West Alexandria; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald E. and Kay Thompson of Battleground, Ind.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Walter Ruby of Eldorado and William H. Ruby of Morristown, Tenn.
Funeral services were Friday, May 7, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor Lowell Spencer officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.

Vinie Abner
Vinie Abner, 96, of Eaton, died Wednesday, May 5, at Governor Harris Homestead.
Born Aug. 2, 1902, in Jackson County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Mathew and Laura (McFarland) Spivey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alson Abner, in 1973; one brother; and four sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Lucille Teeters of Dayton and Zelma Booher of Eaton; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Friday, May 7, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. James C. Sizelove officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Governor Harris Homestead.

Margaret S. Adamson
Margaret Sue Adamson, 54, of Eaton, died Wednesday evening, May 5, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton.
Born June 27, 1944, in Paintsville, Ky., she was the daughter of Hollie and Dorothy (Meeks) Williams.
Survivors include her companion of 17 years, Ronald L. Lewis of Eaton; children, Robert Adamson of California, Carol Hunt and husband Rick of Eaton, Tina Collins of Eaton, Tammy Burgess and husband Bart of Trotwood, Michael Adamson of Eaton, Jason Lewis and wife Rose of Germany, Chris Lewis of North Carolina and Misti Adamson of Eaton; 13 grandchildren; her mother, Dorothy Williams of Dayton.
Also surviving are a son-in-law, Dave Burgess of Brookville; brothers and sisters, Delores Curry of Englewood, Maudie Trimble of Enon, Hollie Williams of Dayton, Paul Douglas Williams of Maryland, Gary Williams of New York, Mike Williams of Vandalia, Sharon Bleil of Eaton and Troy Williams of Piqua; uncle, Edgar Kimbler of Union; special friends, Pat, Nancy, Billie, Jean Ann, Connie and Candi; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 8, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor Jim Valekis officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
