Colt E. Lewis
Colt Edward (Nickell) Lewis, age 1, son of Beth Nickell and Jerry Lewis of Somerville, died Saturday, March 27, at Children's Hospital in Columbus.
He was born March 6, 1998, in Dayton.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by maternal grandparents, Kenny and Linda Nickell of Germantown; paternal grandmother, Betty Lewis of Gratis; paternal grandparents, Richard and Nora Hardin of Greenville; maternal great-grandfather, George Mowen of Gratis; maternal great-grandmother, Kathryn Nickell of Germantown; paternal grandmothers, Lizzie Perry of Gratis and Mildred Shuttleworth of Verona; special aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Vernon Lewis; great-grandmother, JoAnne Mowen; and great-grandfather, Archie B. Nickell.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 30, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Gratis, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis.

Russell T. Rutan
Russell T. Rutan, 84, of Eaton, died Saturday, March 27, at the Golden Rule Nursing Center in Richmond, Ind.
Born May 27, 1914, in Preble County, he was the son of the late Ira A. and Mary (Kramer) Rutan, and had lived in Jackson Township all his life. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Rutan was a member of the Campbellstown United Church of Christ, an active member of the Preble County Historical Society, and a member of the Farmersville Historical Society.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary M. (Wright) Rutan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and George Simpson of Centerville, Ohio, Amie Sue and Dale Felty of Richmond, Ind.; a son, Ron Rutan of Eaton; two grandchildren, Kelly Felty and Larry Felty; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Carlisle of Farmington, Mich.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, with Dr. William M. Davis and the Rev. Robert E. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Campbellstown United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.

Porter R. Fultz
Porter R. Fultz, 75, of Greenwood Road, Middletown, died Sunday, March 28, at his home.
Born June 16, 1923, in Frenchburg, Ky., he was the son of John and Erie Katherine (Steele) Fultz. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and had retired from Armco in Middletown.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Fultz; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Oscar Reynolds of Rising Sun, Ind.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Dena Fultz of Somerville, Steven and Dona Fultz of New Richmond, Ohio, Jonathan and Missy Fultz of Eaton.
Also surviving are three brothers, Clayton Fultz of Middletown, Leonard Fultz of Lewisburg and James Fultz of Frenchburg, Ky.; two sisters, Maxine Welch of Middletown and Shirley Back of Frenchburg, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Fultz; and three sisters, Delma Fultz, Stella Stamper and Claudette Fultz.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, at West Elkton United Methodist Church in West Elkton, with the Rev. Ruben Cabanillas officiating. Burial will be in Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Gratis, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

William R. Roach
William R. Roach, 68, of New Lebanon, died Sunday, March 28, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born Oct. 19, 1930, in West Alexandria, he was the son of William and Edna (Hollenbaugh) Roach. He was a mechanic and carpenter, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathryn Roach; and a sister, Mary Wysong.
Survivors include two sons, David Roach of Eaton and Kevin Roach of West Alexandria; a brother, Marion Roach of Eaton; two sisters, Martha Koeller of West Alexandria and Margaret Riley of Xenia; one grandchild; and a friend, Helen Rose of New Lebanon.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Richard B. Heindl
Richard B. Heindl, 83, of South Commerce Street, Lewisburg, died Sunday, March 28, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Feb. 8, 1916, in Xenia, he was the son of the late John W. and Margariet (Truebenbach) Heindl. He had lived in Preble County for the past 44 years. Mr. Heindl retired in 1979 after 34 years with Dayton Tire and Rubber Co., and was a member of Twin Creek Chapel at West Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verda Cathrine (Earnst) Heindl, in 1995; brothers, Arthur J. Sr., Lewis, John, Henry R. and Walter A. Heindl; and a great-grandson, Jacob Hudson.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin L. and Gerry Heindl of Lewisburg, Richard K. Sr. and Lisa Heindl of West Manchester; daughters and son-in-law, Darlene A. Reeder of Lewisburg, Rosemary and David Nugent of Brookville; a sister, Margariet Wimmer of Greenville; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 1, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, 411 N. Commerce St., with the Rev. Rodney W. Shelley and the Rev. Richard Van Tine officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewisburg Emergency Unit.

Wilma R. Wheeler
Wilma R. Wheeler, 86, of 260 N. Main St., Eldorado, died Monday evening, May 3, at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville following a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 4, 1912, near Eldorado, she was the daughter of Charles and Mae (Allread) Richards. She was a 1930 graduate of Monroe High School at West Manchester, and a member of Eldorado United Methodist Church. On July 4, 1936, she married Fred Wheeler of West Manchester.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Richards; and sisters, Gladys Long, Lois Schlosser and Mildred Bush.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Wheeler; sons, James P. Wheeler of Laurelville, Ohio, and Steven J. Wheeler of Eldorado; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
So that other may learn from her life and her death, she donated her body to the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 4, at Eldorado United Methodist Church, Main Street, Eldorado, with the Rev. Raymond A. Michel and the Rev. Jim Condrey officiating. Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, Eldorado, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the North Central Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 156, West Manchester, Ohio 45382; or to the Eldorado Fire Department, P.O. Box 10, Eldorado, Ohio 45321.

Clara M. Guenther
Clara M. Guenther, 85, of New Madison, died Tuesday, May 25, at her home.
Born Jan. 23, 1914, in Richmond, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Leslie Marshall and Edith Marie (Petry) Hornbeck. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in New Paris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Edwin Guenther Sr., in 1994; a daughter, Sandra Brumley, in 1994; a granddaughter, Ellen Brumley, in 1965; and a brother, Robert Hornbeck, in 1993.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Russell E. Jr. and Fern Guenther of New Paris; a daughter, LaDonna J. Hoel of Waynesfield, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 27, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with the Rev. Don Boyer officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Darke County, 122 W. Martz St., Greenville, Ohio 45331.

Brent R. Noggle
Brent R. "Buddy" Noggle, 14, of Shields Road, Lewisburg, died Saturday, May 22, at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Fla.
He was born June 30, 1984, in Dayton.
Survivors include his mother, Joni D. (McCollum) Noggle of Lewisburg; his father, Robert B. Noggle of Vandalia; a brother, Michael Kyle Noggle of Vandalia; maternal grandparents, Earnest and Geneva McCollum of Lewisburg; maternal great-grandmother, Lorene McCollum of Ripley, Tenn.; paternal grandmother, Joyce L. Noggle of Indianapolis, Ind.; and a special friend, Mark Arrowood of Florida.
Funeral services were Friday, May 28, at Lewisburg First Missionary Baptist Church, Lewisburg, with the Rev. George Pennington officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg. Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth M. Andrews
Elizabeth M. Andrews, 78, a longtime resident of Aukerman Creek Road, Camden, died Monday, May 31, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton.
Born Sept. 9, 1920, in Lanier Township, she was the daughter of Willard E. and Ruth (Trunck) Andrews. She was a member of the First Brethren Church in Gratis, and a member of the Gratis Rebekah Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Clayton Andrews.
Survivors include three sisters, Sarah Spitler of Eaton, Martha Jarrard of Ellenton, Fla., and Virginia Pottenger of Kettering; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Gratis, with the Rev. Robert French officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis. The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bert E. Fields
Bert Edward Fields, 72, of Eaton, died Sunday morning, May 30, in Eaton following a lengthy illness.
Born April 18, 1927, in Combs, Ky., he was a son of the late Birtchell and Geneva (Crace) Fields. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet Fields; a grandson, Millard Dean Fields; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Marie Fields; and three brothers, Raymond, Jim and Don Fields.
Survivors include his wife, Madeline (Flanary) Fields of Eaton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Susan Fields, Ira and Penny Fields, all of Eaton; two daughters and son-in-law, Joann Fudge, Mary Lou and Barry Johnson, all of Eaton; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Tom Couch of Eaton; a brother, Gene Fields of Kentucky; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 3, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, 3377 U.S. 35 East, West Alexandria, with Pastor Lowell T. Spencer officiating. Military honors will be presented at the graveside by the combined Color Guard Unit of Preble County. Burial will be in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the funeral home.

Fern F. Clemons
Fern F. Clemons, 92, of Eaton-Gettysburg Road, Eaton, died Tuesday, June 22, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Feb. 13, 1907, in Bluford, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Della (Redburn) Halbrooks, and had lived in Preble County since 1979. She was a former employee of Mt. Vernon Garment Co. in Mt. Vernon, Ill., and a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Bluford, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale W. Clemons, on Dec. 15, 1983; a grandson; and brothers, Harold K. Halbrooks and Ross Halbrooks.
Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Payne and Jean Lipscomb, both of Eaton; three grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Graveside services were Saturday, June 26, at Bethel Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, Ill. Hughey Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, Ill., was in charge of arrangements. Local arrangements were handled by Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton.
