Arthur K. Larkey
Arthur K. Larkey, 94, of Camden, Tenn., formerly of the Preble County area, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997, at his home.
He was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Camden, Ohio.
Survivors include three daughters, Jewell Bertsch and Lucille Rodeffer, both of Camden, Tenn., and Elois Johnson of St. Albans, W. Va.; one sister, Nancy Larkey of Camden, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday, Aug. 25, at Fairmount Cemetery in Camden, Ohio. Arrangements were by R.C. Nein and Sons-Limber Funeral Home, Camden.

Forrest Reeves
Forrest "Skip" Reeves, 45, of South Street, West Alexandria, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 1997, at his home.
Born Sept. 20, 1951, in Richmond, Ind., he was the son of Forrest C. and Audrey (Shelton) Reeves. He was a 1969 graduate of Twin Valley South High School. Mr. Reeves had been employed for over 20 years at Rexarc, Inc. in West Alexandria. He was a member of the Board of Public Affairs, director of the West Alexandria Village Income Tax Department, and a member of the Friends of the Library.
Survivors include his daughter, Brandy Reeves of Dayton; mother and father, Audrey and Joe Gilbert of West Alexandria; two sisters, Laura Reeves of S. Weymouth, Mass., and Alma Kemper of Englewood; and a brother, John Gilbert of Pawleys Island, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1964.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with Rev. Dr. James Altenbaumer officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Preble County Habitat for Humanity.

Mary C. Steele
Mary Catherine Steele, 83, of 108 Wrenn Ave., New Paris, died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 21, 1997, at her home after an extended illness.
Born March 16, 1914, in Brookville (Montgomery County), she was the daughter of William W. "Bill" and Nina Mae (Kessler) Ward. She retired in 1976 from Knollenberg's department store in Richmond, Ind., after 20 years of service.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary E. Steele, in 1969; and a brother, Harold Ward.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Kenneth E. Steele; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Jayne Steele of Pickerington, Ohio; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Ann and David Gibson of West Jefferson, Ohio, Carolyn Kay Beightler of Columbus, Joyce Carol and Keith Johnson of Westerville, Ohio.
Also surviving are two sisters, Helen Michael and Ruthanna Oliver, both of Versailles; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry L. and Lessel Ward of Greenville, Clarence E. "Shorty" and Martha "Pete" Ward of Michigan; a sister-in-law, Jean Ward of Versailles; six grandchildren, Lori Steele, Carolyn Steele, Rick Beightler, Steve Cochrun, Leslie Cochrun and Kurt Johnson; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 25, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with the Rev. Don Boyer officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.
Memorial contributions may be made to Reid Hospital Foundation-Hospice Unit.

Margie L. Jarrett
Margie Lucille Jarrett, 74, of Richmond, Ind., died Friday, Aug. 22, 1997, at Heritage Regency in Richmond.
Born July 2, 1923, in Centerville, Ind., she was the daughter of Nolan Edward and Maude Ella (Spurlin) Sweet. She was a bookstore clerk in Richmond and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, also in Richmond.
Survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd E. and Lorraine Sweet of Fairfield, Ohio, Howard E. and Marlene Sweet of Richmond, Ind.; sister and brother-in-law, Doris J. and Donald "Smitty" Smith of Williamsport, Ohio; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. George Pennington officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg. Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of Richmond, Ind.

Myron R. Branson
Myron R. Branson, 95, of Richmond, Ind., died Monday evening, Aug. 11, 1997, at Friends Fellowship Community in Richmond.
Born June 10, 1902, in Preble County, he was the son of William G. and Viretta (Roberts) Branson. He graduated from West Elkton High School in 1919, and was a self-employed farmer in the Preble County area for 65 years.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Marie Branson; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bill White of Camden; two grandchildren, Russell White and wife Rhonda of Germantown, David White and wife Tracy of Somerville; two great-grandchildren, Erica and Tyler White; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Naomi (Albert) Branson, in 1958.
Graveside services were Aug. 15 at Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton, with the Rev. Joanna Scofield officiating. Memorial services were Sunday, Aug. 17, at Friends Fellowship Community. R.C. Nein and Sons-Limber Funeral Home, Camden, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to West Elkton Friends Church or to Friends Fellowship Community, 2030 Chester Blvd., Richmond, Ind.

Charles M. Lamson
Charles M. "Chuck" Lamson, 78, of New Paris, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born May 4, 1919, in Akron, he was the son of George A. and Eleanor (McCleery) Lamson. He was a graduate of Bowling Green University and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was owner/operator of DeFederico's Lampost Restaurant in New Paris since 1982.
Mr. Lamson was a former member of the New Paris Kiwanis Club, a member of the Elks in Richmond, Humboldt Lodge Free and Accepted Masons in Columbus and Clarence Teaford American Legion Post #360 in New Paris. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Eileen (Souders) Lamson; a daughter, Billi Jo Lamson of New Paris; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Vicki Lamson of New Paris; three grandchildren, Hannah Moreton, Seth and Trevor Lamson; and two brothers, Don Lamson of Akron and Bob Lamson of Seattle, Wash.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 16, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Military graveside services and burial were in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Northwest Emergency Squad or to the Northwest Fire Department.

Mavis P. Webb
Mavis Pearl Webb, 75, of 605 S. Maple St., Eaton, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 15, 1997, at Heartland of Eaton after an extended illness. She had been a resident of Heartland since September 1992.
Born Sept. 16, 1921, in Soddy, Tenn., she was the daughter of James and Ella (Cain) Roberts. She was a 1939 graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School and had been a volunteer at the Soldiers' Home and Children's Home. She was a member of the Eaton United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Harold E. Webb; a son and daughter-in-law, Jon O. and Linda Webb of Eaton; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven sisters, Betha Higgins of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Lavada Byrd of Ooltewah, Tenn., Lenora Parnell of Columbia, Tenn., Nellie Greenwood of Chattanooga, Tenn., Bernice Byrd of Jackson, Miss., Patricia Sully of Atlanta, Ga., and Vera Payne of Lexington, N.C.
She was preceded in death by twin sons, Harold E. and Darold E. Webb, in 1943; a brother, Joel Dennis Roberts; and a sister, Emma Burdett.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, Soddy Daisy, Tenn. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery at Soddy Daisy, Tenn. Local arrangement were by Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel.

Richard L. Shock
Richard L. Shock, 74, of Eaton, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton after an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Preble County, he was born Aug. 10, 1923, the son of Leonard and Gertrude (Swerer) Shock. He was a retired service technician from Dayton Power & Light Co. after 40 years, was a licensed electrician and former chief of the Eaton Fire Department. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Eaton United Church of Christ and American Legion Post #215 of Eaton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Alice "Dimple" (Ewing) Shock, on Jan. 11, 1993; and a sister, Doris Shock.
Survivors include his mother, Gertrude Shock of Eaton; a son, Richard A. "Rick" Shock of Springfield, Ill.; two daughters, Patsy K. Shock and Sue A. Daily, both of Eaton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jo Ann Kisling of Eaton and Evelyn Hale of Las Vegas, Nev.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Burial, with military graveside services by Preble County military units, will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Ohio, Miami Valley Chapter, 61-B S. Main St., Centerville, Ohio 45468.

Mary E. Musgrave
Mary E. "Betty" Musgrave, 70, of West Alexandria, died Saturday evening, Aug. 16, 1997, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born Dec. 30, 1926, in Costa, W. Va., she was the daughter of the Rev. Allan Francis and Elsie (Egly) Vinton. She graduated from Pikeville College in Kentucky, earned her bachelor of arts degree from Tusculum College in Greenville, Tenn., a master's degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Ill., and an associate of science degree from Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Ill.
A retired registered nurse, she last worked at Randolph County Memorial Hospital in Pocahontas, Ark. She attended and served for six years as church organist for Trinity United Church of Christ in New Lebanon and formerly attended the First Brethren Church of West Alexandria.
Survivors include her husband, Lee R. Musgrave, whom she married April 14, 1984; children, David A. Davidson and wife Suzan of San Clemente, Calif., Harriet Joy Frey and husband Carl P. of Chula Vista, Calif., and Cecil Elizabeth Davidson of Mission Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are brothers, Daniel C. Vinton of St. Louis, Mo., and Allan F. Vinton Jr.; sisters, Lois Byrom of Grand Junction, Colo., and Doris Nitecki of Chicago, Ill.; stepchildren, Christopher Lee Musgrave of Franklin, Thea M. Secrest of New Madison and Deborah L. Musgrave of Glendale, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Rosalyn Louise Vinton.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 1830 W. Main St., New Lebanon, with Pastor William M. O'Dell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, 3377 U.S. 35 East, West Alexandria. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria.

Charles Brumbaugh
Charles Brumbaugh, 69, formerly of Phillipsburg-Union Road, Phillipsburg, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He retired in 1975 as a custodian for the Northmont Schools. He was a member of the Potsdam Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi (Geeting) Brumbaugh of Greenville; a son, Ron Brumbaugh of Brookville; daughters, Denise Henderson of Brookville and Karen Ranley of Minster; two grandsons; two granddaughters; a brother, Don Brumbaugh of Vandalia; and a sister, Marilyn Gorden of Pueblo, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C. Russell and Gladys (Geeting) Brumbaugh.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Potsdam Church of the Brethren, Potsdam, with the Rev. Robert Kurtz officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery near Phillipsburg. Hale-Sarver Funeral Home, West Milton, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Potsdam Church of the Brethren building fund.

Tura K. Grothaus
Tura Katherine Grothaus, 82, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and formerly of Eaton, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997, at Columbia Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 31, 1914, in Camden, she was the daughter of Henry and Ida Bell (Kritzen) Avery. She was a graduate of Camden High School. In her younger years, she served with the Cub Scouts and was a member of the library board at her children's school. She spent 43 years on the family farm outside Eaton, moving to Idaho Falls seven years ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Grothaus, in April 1978; several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Roger Harry and Janet Grothaus of Racine, Wis., Gary and Sharon Grothaus of Idaho Falls, Idaho; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Henry Avery of Richmond, Ind.; sisters, Mamie Ehrhardt Melton of Camden and Martha Dunkelburger of Richmond, Ind.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, followed by burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
