Julian E. Clark
Julian E. Clark, 83, of 900 N. Taylor St., Arlington, Va., died Saturday, April 4, 1998, in Arlington.
Born Jan. 24, 1915, in New Paris, he was the son of the late Edward R. and Carrie L. (Kirkpatrick) Clark. The former Eaton resident retired in 1993 after 52 years as a practicing attorney in the Eaton area.
He was a 1933 graduate of the high school in New Paris, a 1937 graduate of Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., a 1940 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, and in 1941 started his law practice in the old St. Clair Building in Eaton. He served as assistant prosecutor in the Preble County Prosecutor's Office from 1941 to 1944, and was prosecutor from 1944 to 1952.
Mr. Clark was a member of Fellowship Lodge #106, F&AM at New Paris since 1937; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton since 1941; Antioch Shrine of Dayton; Royal Select Masons, Preble Council #135 of Eaton; Eaton Chapter #22, RAM; Reed Commandery #6 Knight Templar of Dayton.
He was a charter member of the New Paris Lions Club, and transferred to the Eaton Lions Club in June 1942 where he served as secretary in 1945 and as president in 1950-1951.
Mr. Clark was awarded the Lions Key Membership in January 1952; Lions Advanced Master Key in 1966; Lions 50-year Chevron in 1992; Lions Life Member and Melvin Jones Award in 1993; and served in many other positions in the Eaton Lions Club including the Tailtwister. His nickname in the Lions Club was "Bucket."
He was a member and past elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Eaton; a member of the Preble County and Ohio State Bar Associations; American Bar Association; had served on various committees of the state bar; was a member of the University of Michigan Presidents' Club; and the Earlham College Presidents' Circle.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Isabelle J. (Knoll) Clark; a daughter and son-in-law, Betsy C. and James R. Cooke of Arlington, Va.; a nephew, James Clark of Dayton; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Clark, in 1970; a sister, Mildred Clark, in 1994; and a niece, Emily F. Hendricks, in 1996.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9, at the First Presbyterian Church, 123 W. Decatur St., Eaton, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St., and one hour prior to services at the church. Eaton Lions Club will hold a memorial service at 8 p.m., followed by the Fellowship Lodge #106 at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mida L. Wilson
Mida L. Wilson, 88, of Avon Park, Fla., died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at her home.
She was born Mida L. Snider in Middletown, and married Clarence Wilson in 1931. The couple moved to a farm in Lanier Township (Preble County), and resided there until 1981 when they moved to Avon Park, Fla., for their retirement years.
While living in Preble County, she spent many years as a cook a Lanier School, was a 4-H club leader, a member of the Preble County Democrat Women's Club, a member of St. Mary's Church in Camden and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Clarence W. Wilson; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Polly Wilson of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Jim Dougherty of Canton; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A High Mass was held Monday, March 16, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Avon Park, Fla., with Father Gerald Grogan officiating. Her final wish was cremation, and a memorial graveside service will be held in June in West Alexandria. Fountain Funeral Home, Avon Park, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy K. Moore
Dorothy K. Moore, 79, of Claremont, Calif., formerly of Eaton, died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at Pomona Valley Hospital.
Born Oct. 9, 1918, in Gratis, she was the daughter of James and Vinnie Kiracofe, and was a 1936 graduate of Eaton High School. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren. Mrs. Moore had lived in California since 1951.
Survivors include her husband, Woodrow; a son, Michael Moore of Claremont, Calif.; a daughter, Sarajane Thompson of Texas; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Elizabeth Wampler and Kathryn Kiracofe, both of Bridgewater, Va., Winifred Loser of Greenville, Martha Nipp of New Castle, Ind., and Lois Gene Holland of Eaton; and a sister-in-law, Rose Kiracofe of Eaton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
Graveside services were Friday, March 20, at LaVerne Cemetery, LaVerne, Calif.
Rebecca L. Lewis
Rebecca Lynn Lewis, 9-month-old daughter of Mark W. and Melissa N. Lewis of Piqua, died Monday, March 30, 1998, at Children's Medical Center in Dayton.
She was born June 28, 1997, in Montgomery County.
Survivors include a sister, Marissa N. Nelson of Piqua; maternal grandparents, Mike and Ginny Nelson of Lewisburg; maternal great-grandmothers, Mary D. Rike and Geneva R. Nelson, both of Lewisburg; paternal grandparents, Donald and Kathleen Lewis of Piqua; paternal great-grandparents, John and Grace Tripp and Marie A. Lewis, all of Piqua; aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by an uncle, Matthew M. Nelson; and great-grandfathers, Richard D. Rike, Fred J. Nelson and Donald F. Lewis Sr.
Funeral services were Friday, April 3, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Fields officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg.

Lawrence L. George Jr.
Lawrence Louis George Jr., 72, of Camden, died Monday, March 30, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born Nov. 23, 1925, in Bradford, he was the son of Lawrence Louis Sr. and Mary I. (Thomas) George. He attended Atlanta High School, Wilmington College and Miami University. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. George was employed as an industrial arts teacher at Shawnee and Eaton City Schools, retiring in 1981 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Camden United Methodist Church and the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Diane George of Greenfield, Ind., Steve and Pam George of Oxford, Alan and Carolyn George of Eaton; one daughter, Lynda George of Hanau, Germany; two brothers, Charles Lloyd George of Indianapolis, Ind., and Glenn George of Xenia; thee sisters, Gladys Johnson of Richmond, Ind., Lorene Strong of Fountain City, Ind., and Alberta Sword of New Jasper, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Justin, Bradley and Brandon George.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Thelma Reckers.
Funeral services were Friday, April 3, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home/Willard Moss Jr. Memorial Chapel, Camden, with the Rev. Jackie Marshall officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.

Dorothy E. Ketron
Dorothy Elizabeth Ketron, 90, of 3260 West Florence-Campbellstown Road, Eaton, died Thursday, April 2, 1998, at her home.
Born Oct. 14, 1907, in Dixon Township, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Nellie (Shumate) Gard, and was a lifetime resident of Preble County. She was a 1928 graduate of Jackson High School.
Mrs. Ketron was a librarian at the Jackson Township Public Library and retired from the C.R. Coblentz School District library in 1979. She was a member of the Campbellstown United Church of Christ; Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #310 of New Paris; a member of the Campbellstown Community Friendly Club and a prior member of the former Campbellstown Mystery Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell E. Ketron, in 1959.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Duane G. and Karen Ketron of New Paris; a granddaughter, Laurie (Tudor) Crist; a grandson, Timothy Tudor; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, April 6, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. James C. Sizelove officiating. Burial was in Concord Cemetery, Eaton.

Mildred L. Johnson
Mildred L. Johnson, 92, of 75 Mote Drive, Covington, Ohio, formerly of Eldorado, died Thursday morning, April 2, 1998, at Covington Care Center after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 15, 1905, in Darke County, she was the daughter of the late Forest and Myrtle (Lehman) Hershey. She was a member of the Eldorado Universalist Church.
Survivors include a son, Bruce Johnson of Covington, Ohio; a daughter, Beth Michel of Dayton; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Honoring her wishes, no public services will be held. Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home-Eldorado Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Dana S. Adkins
Dana Sue Adkins, 38, of Eaton, died Thursday, April 2, 1998, as the result of an auto accident on West Lexington Road.
Born April 23, 1959, in Dayton, she had lived in Eaton all her life. She was a 1977 graduate of Eaton High School. Mrs. Adkins was employed by SCOPE/Meals for the Elderly for 15 years, and was a cashier for Beoddy Mara Mart in Eaton. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the Eaton United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her parents, Loyde T. and Jean (Cameron) Meeks of Eaton; two daughters, Deanna L. Adkins and Catherine J. Adkins, both at home; one grandchild, Leslie T. Adkins; two brothers, Dean A. Meeks of St. Louis, Mo., and Douglas C. Meeks of Eaton; one sister, Debbie L. Meeks of Eaton; maternal grandmother, Iva Cameron Loy of Eaton; aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Stanley and Dorothy Meeks; maternal grandfather, Leslie Dean Cameron; and an uncle, Billy Dean Cameron.
Funeral services were Monday, April 6, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. James W. Whitley officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

Wilbur Smith
Wilbur Smith, 80, of Ohio 503 North, Lewisburg, died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Born Oct. 8, 1917, he was the son of Charance and Ada (Gregg) Smith. He was a lifelong farmer and retired from General Motors. Mr. Smith was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in West Alexandria.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Katharine Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Martha Smith of Medway; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Cecil Bowen Jr. of Dayton; five grandchildren, Kimberly Nagy of Tempe, Ariz., Todd and Jaime Smith of Medway, Adam and Brent Bowen of Lewisburg; three great-granddaughters, Jessica and Brianna Nagy of Tempe Ariz., and McKinzie Bowen of Lewisburg; a sister and brother-in-law, Cleda and Fred Wolfram of Dayton; a brother and sister-in-law, Clarance and Clarice Smith of Texas; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ellen Trittschuh and Freda Menzel.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9, at St. John's United Church of Christ, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Ron Dafler officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
