Dominic Talley
Dominic Talley, infant son of Chad and Heather (League) Talley of Eaton, died Saturday, May 24, 1997 at Grandview Hospital in Dayton.
Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Chad E. Talley Jr. and Drew Alexandria Talley; a sister, Danielle Nichole Talley; maternal grandparents, Ronnie and Marline League of Lewisburg; maternal great-grandparents, William and Marilyn League of Springerville, N.M. and Deloris Reynolds of Eaton and Ed Helton of Okeechobee, Fla.; paternal grandfather, Carl Talley of Cookeville, Tenn.; paternal great-grandparents, Winnie Talley of Cookeville, Tenn., and Harry and Shirley Hobbs of Lewisburg.
Graveside services were held on Friday, May 30 at Twin Valley Cemetery, West Alexandria with Rick and Ruth Ramey officiating. Barnes Funeral Home - Lewisburg Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Henry H. Meyer
Henry H. Meyer, 87, of Meyer Lane, West Alexandria, died Thursday, May 29, 1997 at his residence.
Born Sept. 22, 1909 in Cincinnati, he was the son of Harold and Marie (Becker) Meyer. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the 9th Armored Division. He was a farmer most of his life.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick Meyer and Robert Meyer.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Meyer and Dorothy Meyer, both of West Alexandria.
There were no public services. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, is in charge of arrangements.
Larry Taggart
Larry Taggart, 50, of Camden, died Thursday, May 29, 1997 at Fort Hamilton-Hughes Hospital, Hamilton.
Born March 13, 1947 in Harrison, he was the son of Earl and Mae (Day) Taggart. He retired in September 1996 from Miami University where worked in small repairs and maintenance for 16 years. He was a member of the Fairhaven United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joan (Wilson) Taggart; three sons, Kevin Taggart of Hamilton, Steve Taggart of Ross and Darrell Taggart of Somerville; one daughter, Lori Ann Taggart of Hamilton; two step-sons David and James Hale of Eaton; a step-daughter, Annette Hall of Eaton; three brothers, Wayne Taggart of Collinsville, Michael Taggart of Fairfield and Kenneth (Cheryl) Taggart of Hamilton; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Doris) Jones of Auburn and Wanda Huffman of Seven Mile.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 31 at R.C. Nein & Sons Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. Ken Barton and the Rev. Lillian Gillispie officiating.
Burial was in Fairhaven Cemetery.

James H. Straszheim
James H. Straszheim Sr., 74, of East Main Street, Eaton, died Saturday, May 31, 1997, at the VA Medical Center in Dayton.
Born Aug. 30, 1922 in Twin Township, Preble County, he was the son of John H. and Johannah (Fahrenholz) Straszheim. He retired in 1985 as a self employed carpenter and roofer. He was a 1938 West Alexandria High School graduate; a World War II U.S. Army veteran and member of the Eagles Lodge #2202 in Eaton.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Milestead, and Bertha Johnson in 1981; and brothers, Albert F. Straszheim in 1994 and John William Straszheim in 1993.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, James H. Jr. and Cindy Straszheim of Eaton and Joseph A. Straszheim of Dayton; daughter, Judith A. Gilmartin of Dayton; two sisters, Lucille Clark of Eaton and Geisana Bourne of Richmond, Ind.; three granddaughters, Kristina J., Jennifer M. and Carrie M. Straszheim.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 5 at 11 a.m. at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 E. Main St., Eaton, with Dr. Phillip D. Malone officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 4 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion and/or Hospice Unit at the VA Medical Center.
Jay W. Moran
Jay W. Moran, 38, of 5315 National Road, Richmond, Ind., died unexpectedly Sunday, June 1, 1997.
He was born Sept. 16, 1958 in Richmond, Ind. He had served with the U.S. Navy, was manager at Frisch's Big Boy in Eaton for the past nine months; assistant manager at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Richmond for four and one-half years; past member of Jefferson Township Booster's Club.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack L. Moran in 1989.
Survivors include his mother, M. Jean Moran Davies of New Paris; son Dakota Siler Moran of Richmond, Ind.; brother, John C. Moran of New Paris; sister, Jennifer L. Utley of Eaton; and aunt, MaDonna Bettlon of Hagerstown, Ind.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 4 at 11 a.m. (Ohio time) at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St., New Paris with the Rev. Don Boyer officiating. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery.
Mark Kesling
Mark Kesling, 40, of Hartley St., Fairborn, died unexpectedly Monday, June 2, 1997, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton.
Born Dec. 8, 1956 in Alexandria, La., he was the son of William and Mary Sue (Puvogle) Kesling. He was a 1975 graduate of Twin Valley South High School in West Alexandria. He was employed as a cargo specialist for Emery Worldwide in Dayton for the last 16 years.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Veronica Kesling, three children -- a son, Sean Kesling and two daughters, Sara and Emilee Kesling, all at home; his mother and stepfather, Mary Sue and Dave Morris of Eaton; his father and stepmother, Bill and Marlene Kesling of Lewisburg; two half brothers, Jim Kesling of Joplin, Mo. and Mike Kesling of Louisianna; four stepbrothers, David Morris and Phillip Morris, both of Dayton, Daniel Morris and Timothy Morris, both of Trotwood; and a stepsister, Nancy Derringer of Brookville; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 6 at the Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home in West Alexandria. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria.
Harry J. Crubaugh
Harry J. Crubaugh, 89, of 4642 Shurley Road, New Paris, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at Reid Hospital in Richmond after a short illness.
Born July 3, 1907 in Jefferson Township, Preble County, he was the son of William M. and Martha L. (Foster) Crubaugh. He was a Jefferson Township farmer and member of St. John's Catholic Church in New Paris.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Foster C. Crubaugh in 1995; sisters, Ada E. Crubaugh in 1952, Ethel C. Crubaugh in 1981, Mary G. Crubaugh in 1991 and Rhea C. Crubaugh in 1993.
Survivors include a brother, George W. Crubaugh of New Paris; and cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 6, at Barnes Funeral Home, New Paris Chapel, with the Rev. Ralph Lawrence officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.
Blanche D. Hart
Blanche Dolores Hart, 93, of Eaton, died Thursday, June 5, 1997, at Governor Harris Homestead.
Born Oct. 10, 1903 in Medway, she was the daughter of Harry and Mary Ellen (Kiblinger) Kline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Russell Hart in 1981; son, Howard R. "Buddy" Hart in 1928; and grandson, Robert Leon Korchmaros in 1994.
Survivors include daughters, Grace Landy Hart, of Dayton and Blanche Dolores Korchmaros of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Hazel Brosey of New Carlisle; and granddaughter, Adriane Leslie Korchmaros, Calif.
Graveside services were held on Monday, June 9 in Woodland Cemetery, Dayton, with the Rev. Lowell T. Spencer officiating. Barnes Funeral Home, Eaton, was in charge of arrangements.

Andrew T. Ashburn
Andrew Thomas Ashburn, infant son of Donna (Guntle) Messer and Thomas D. Ashburn of Eaton, died Thursday evening, June 5, 1997, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
In addition to the parents, survivors include three brothers, Hagan B. Messer, Daniel M. Ashburn and Adam T. Ashburn; maternal grandparents, Donald and Kathryn Guntle of Eaton; and maternal great-grandparents, Iris M. and Jim Shiverdecker of Lewisburg.
Graveside services were held Saturday, June 7 at Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria with the Rev. Greg A. Hyre officiating. Barnes Funeral Home, Eaton, was in charge arrangements.
R. Kim Bussard
R. Kim Bussard, 40, of 317 Monroe St., Eldorado, died Wednesday evening, June 4, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He was born June 20, 1956 in Dayton. He was semi-truck driver for many years and a member of Bridgeview Baptist Church in Castine.
Survivors include his parents, Ronald M. and Carolyn D. (Tamplin) Bussard of Eldorado; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanine K. and Barry A. Harrison of Wayne Lakes; grandmother, Treva Bowers of Florida; aunts and uncles, Jill and Nick Vaniman of Eldorado, Barbara J. and Gaynor Petry of New Paris; cousins, Tiana R. White; David A. White and Robin Roberts of Eldorado.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lester Tamplin; grandparents, Harry and Wanda Bussard; and uncle, Floyd R. White.
Graveside services were held Sunday, June 8, at Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison, with the Rev. Bryan Rea and the Dane Driver officiating. Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, Eldorado was in charge of arrangements.

Fredrick Curtis
Fredrick William Curtis, 74 of Lakeland, Fla., died Monday, June 2, 1997, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Born March 4, 1923, in Columbus, he moved to Lakeland from Lancaster six years ago. He was a maintenance supervisor for the State of Ohio Correction Institute. He was a World War II Coast Guard veteran. He was a Navy veteran having served in the Koren War. He was a former member of St. Paul United Methodist and Mason of Eaton.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Curtis of Lakeland; sons, Fredrick William Curtis II of Eaton, and Randy Lee Curtis of Lancaster; daughters, Christine Riddle, Monroe, N.C. and Jocelyn Lyle Curtis, Largo, Fla.; brothers, Harrison Curtis of Columbus, Robert Curtis and Wayne Curtis, both of Perrysburg; sisters Marguerite of Columbus and Mildred Marie Murphy of Painesville; and seven grandchildren.

Lawrence S. Smith
Lawrence S. Smith, 95, of New Lebanon, died Sunday, June 8, 1997, in New Lebanon.
Born July 28, 1900 in Preble County, he was the son of Samuel and Ida (Sauer) Smith. He was retired farmer, a member of the Eversole Church of the Brethren, New Lebanon Rotary Club and a former member of the Dixie High School Board.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Ruth M. Bear.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Arlene Smith of New Lebanon; a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Jason Ray of Mobile, Ala., seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10, at the Rogers Funeral Home, New Lebanon, with the Pastor Mark Bowman officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Ervin F. Rinehart
Ervin F. Rinehart, 94, of Eaton, died Monday, June 9, 1997, at Heartland of Eaton.
Born July 27, 1902 in Camden, he was the son of Edwin and Jenny (Flory) Rinehart. He was retired from sales with Sinclair Oil Company and Socony Vacuum Oil Company. He was a member of Eaton United Church of Christ, Past Master of Bolivar Lodge #82 F& AM, Eaton, and a former member of Eaton Grange.
Survivors include his wife, Opal B. (Fudge) Rinehart, whom he married July 31, 1924; a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Jim Guckian of Eaton, eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Marjorie Burch and Janice Lantis; and two nephews, Don Rinehart and Bob Rinehart.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Craig, in 1986; brothers, Ralph Rinehart, Glenn Rinehart and Stanley Rinehart; and an infant sister.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Mr. John Redick officiating. There will be no public calling hours. Burial will be at Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
