Mary E. Glenn
Mary E. Glenn, 73, of Chillicothe, died Sunday.
Arrangements are pending at the Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort.

Earl Fyffe
Earl Fyffe, 80, of Chillicothe, died Sunday.

Nola Montgomery
Nola Montgomery, 79, of 300 W. Fifth St., Waverly, Ohio died 4:55 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2002, at her home surrounded by family and friends.
She was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Magoffin County, Kent. the daughter of the late Amos and Laura (Wheeler) Gullett. On Sept. 22, 1942, she was united in marriage to Herman V. Montgomery who preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1988.
Surviving are four sons: Donald Ray (Lillie) Montgomery of Chillicothe, Herman (Joyce) Montgomery Jr. of Waverly, Rodney (Robin) Montgomery of Piketon, and Gary Montgomery and Lynette Galloway of Piketon; three daughters: Shirley (Roger) Maloney of Waverly, Charlene (Verlin) Caudill of Waverly and Sherry Rider and Al Ferguson of Beaver; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a brother: Archie (Lou) Gullett of Carlisle; and 2 sisters: Myrtle (Millard) Preston and Bertha (Edgar) Blanton both of Salyersville, Kent.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nola was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Gullett.
Nola was a member of Straight Creek Enterprise Baptist Church of Waverly for over 40 years. She was a retired store merchant, having owned and operated the City Market Grocery Store in Waverly for 16 years. She also served the remainder of the term of Pike County Commissioner left by her husband after his death in 1988.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly with Bro. Henry Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.

Margie Doyle
Margie Doyle, 76, of Wikle Drive, Waverly, died Monday at St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home, Piketon. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Lucasville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.

James E. "Jeff" Fitzpatrick
James E. "Jeff" Fitzpatrick, 82, of Greenfield, died Monday in Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in Murray-Fettro Funeral Home, Greenfield. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery, where military rites will be provided by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with Veterans Appreciation Services to be held at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield, in care of Jim Walker, 232 Edgewood Ave., Greenfield, Ohio 45123.

Lloyd Dodson Jones
Distinguished C.H.S. Alumni
Lloyd D. Jones was born July 1, 1918, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Roseanna (Raney) and Reverend Charles A. Jones, the former pastor of Zion Baptist Church, where Lloyd was a lifelong member and supporter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy, Atlas and Wallace Jones; and sister, Marsena Wingo. He is survived by his wife, Verna Simpson (Hunster), formerly of Lancaster, Ohio; daughters, Sharrie (Charles) Middleton, Kim (Theodore) Haynes, both of San Antonio, Texas, Toni (Bill) Evans, Montgomery, Ala.; and son, Timothy, of White Plains, N.Y. Also surviving are brothers, Beecher, James and Omer, of Chillicothe; and sister, Talitha, of Lancaster, Ohio; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
After graduating from C.H.S., class of 1936, Lloyd graduated from Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Ala., where he had the opportunity to work for George Washington Carver. Later, he received his teaching degree from Columbia.
During World War II, Lloyd served in Europe, Asia and Africa. After serving his country for 22 years, he retired as Major and received executive promotion for Lieutenant Colonel.
Lloyd was the recipient of numerous prestigious awards. In 1974, he was inducted into the Tuskegee Athletic Hall of Fame, where he captained the championship basketball team and was quarterback from 1937 to 1940.
Lloyd retired as Vice-president of the National Bank of Westchester, the Urban League of Westchester, and the Westchester Public and Private Council (PIC). Among his many leadership organizations were American Bankers Association, New York State Housing Finance Agency, Mercy College Board of Trustees, Iona College Advisory Board, American Bankers Association and lifetime member of the NAACP to highlight a few.
He departed this life on Aug. 9, 2002, at Sound Shore Medical Center, New Rocehlle, N.Y. Brothers Beecher and Omer attended the family viewing, religious and memorial services held at St. Catherine Zion Church in New Rochelle.

Joe Edward Lindsey
Joe Edward Lindsey, 57, of Clarksburg, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 1, 1944, in Fayette County, and is survived by his mother, Lorine Combs Lindsey, of Clarksburg. He was predeceased by his father, James Lindsey. He was married Sept. 13, 1972, to Aleta Sue Rosenberger, who survives, along with daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and Ira Morrison, of Frankfort and Rebecca and Bradley Horsley, of Chillicothe; daughter, Casey Lindsey, at home; granddaughter, Kelsi Jordan; ten brothers; four sisters; and nieces and nephews.
Joe had served in the Army during the Vietnam War and had worked for the Chessie System.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the Clarksburg Bible Christian Church, with Pastor Tim Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Browns Chapel Cemetery, where graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad. Friends may call at the Ware Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

James D. Maloney Jr.
James D. Maloney Jr., 81, of Chillicothe, died at his home Aug. 26, 2002, after a long illness.

Arnold L. Tackett
Arnold Lee Tackett, 69, of Chillicothe, died 12:10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, in the Adena Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born June 8, 1933, in Paintsville, Ky., to Lee and Hannah Montgomery Tackett. On Sept. 20, 1952, he married Florence Woods, who survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons and two daughters, Vicki Lynn Cutright, John Anthony (Katrina) Tackett, all of Frankfort, Perry Lee (Pam) Tackett, Tracy Lane (Kim) Tackett, Karen Lorraine (Mark) Virgin, and Kevin Alan (Sandina) Tackett, all of Chillicothe; 18 grandchildren, Seth White, Krystle Thompson, Aaron White, Cindy Tackett, Angel Strausbaugh, Darin Tackett, Nathan Triplett, Jesse Tackett, Marissa Tackett, Vanessa Triplett, Tracy Tackett, Zach Cutright, Amanda Tackett, Ashley Tackett, Travis Tackett, Johnathan Tackett, Courtney Tackett and Graydon Tackett; three great-grandchildren, Kennedy White, McKayla Thompson and Bayleigh Alexander; three brothers and two sisters, Betty (Ermil) Ramey, Fannie (Robert) Mankin, William Red (Charlotte) Tackett, all of Chillicothe, Robert (Elaine) Tackett, Lawrence (Linda) Tackett; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Dockie Tackett, Ernest Tackett, Candy May McFadden and Gladys Fyffe.
Mr. Tackett was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had retired from Columbus Asphalt and Paving and Local 423 Laborer's Union. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 108.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, in the Haller Funeral Home with Arlie Howard officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad will follow in Caldwell Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haller's.

Monte G. "Pete" Blue
Monte G. "Pete" Blue, age 70, of Washington Court House, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at 3:58 p.m. in Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born on May 1, 1932, in Ross County, Ohio, the son of the late Howard and Betty Miller Blue. On Oct. 12, 1951, he married the former Ramona Eileen Wolfe, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Angela (Terry) Smith, of Leesburg and Greg (Vicki) Blue, of Galloway; two grandchildren, Shannon (Jason) Anderson and Andrea (Larry) Reedy; one great-grandson, Elijah Blue Dodds. He is also survived by one sister, Barbara (Joe) Henson, of Lebanon; and his mother-in-law, Ruth Wolfe, of Washington Court House. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Clyne.
Pete was a retired operating engineer and retired from the George J. Igel Co., after 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18, the Frankfort Lodge 309, Free and Accepted Masons and was an avid flyer of his own airplanes for over 40 years. Currently Pete was working with the Ohio Auto Auction in Columbus.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort, with Rev. Joseph Henson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, where military honors will be accorded by the Frankfort American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Mildred "Millie" Bragg
Mildred "Millie" Bragg, 88 of Chillicothe, died 3:45 PM, Thursday, August 29, 2002 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born August 17, 1914 in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Katheryn Basey Newland. In November of 1935 she married Roy Bragg, who preceded her in death June 2, 1981.
Surviving are three sisters-in-law, Margaret Newland, Chillicothe; Emma Newland, South Salem; and Margaret Newlun, Frankfort; several nieces nephews, and many neighbors and friends. Four brothers Rollo, Lonnie, Everett, and Eugene who died in France during WW II preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bragg was retired from US Shoe, where she had worked for many years.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 3, 2002 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass & Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM Monday.
