Mary Ellen (Harvey) Haney
Mary Ellen (Harvey) Haney, 89, formerly of Ironton, Ohio and Chillicothe, longtime resident of Trotwood, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 6, 2002.
Over the years, Mary Ellen had been very active with many women's groups, including the Pine Street (Ironton), Trinity (Chillicothe), Epworth (Dayton) and St. Mark's (Trotwood) United Methodist Churches.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Ralph Willard Haney; sons and their wives, Donald and Linda Haney, of Wausau, Wis., Eugene and Evelyn Haney, of Schaumburg, Ill.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and special friends.
Friends may wish to call on the family Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rogers Funeral Home, Trotwood. At the request of the family, there will be no public services.
If desired, contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, N.Y. 10163.

Donald B. Henson
Donald B. Henson, 70, of Baker Road, Chillicothe, died 5:25 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at the Chillicothe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born May 26, 1932, in Cincinnati, the son of John and Florence Urk Henson. His wife, Marilyn Elizabeth Wright Henson, died May 6, 2000.
He is survived by two children, Bruce (Connie) Henson, of Chillicothe and Lisa Redman, of Lexington, Tenn.; four grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Jeffers, of South Salem, Dolores Miller, of Canton and Mildred Russell, of Cincinnati.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at the Smith-Moore Funeral Home, Bainbridge, with Robert Leedy officiating. Burial will follow in Pennisten Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Corbit Montgomery
Corbit Montgomery, 70, of State Route 124, Latham, died Monday at Bristol Pavilion, Waverly.

Linda S. Rice
Linda S. Rice, 49, of Chillicothe, died 10:10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, following an extended illness.
She was born May 29, 1953, in McArthur, Ohio, to George and Shirley Rowland. On July 31, 1999, she married George W. Rice, who survives.
Also surviving are her daughter, Shona Nichelle Day; her mother, Shirley Smith; her sister and brother-in-law, Karen Jane (Allen E.) McDowell; nieces, Heather Rene (J.P.) Wilson and Hannah Elizabeth McDowell; nephew, Heath Robert McDowell; and great-nephew, Zechariah Phillip Wilson, all of Chillicothe; stepdaughter, Stephanie (Creig) Parker, Circleville; stepson, Tom (Sally) Rice, Westerville, Ohio; and several stepgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her father; her son, Anthony Neil Day; and a brother, Robert William Beard II.
Mrs. Rice was a graduate of Westfall High School and later attended both San Diego City College and Chaminade College in Hawaii. She had retired from the U.S. Navy in 1993, after serving her country for nearly twenty years, having last worked as a Hospital Corpman.
Mrs. Rice was a member of Mt. Tabor Community Christian Church, where her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, with Pastor Dennis Garman officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Haller Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made in her name to the Mt. Tabor Community Christian Church Building Fund, 6043 Mt. Tabor Rd., Chillicothe.

Richard L. Comstock
Richard L. Comstock, 75, of Chillicothe, died 8:55 a.m. Oct. 6, 2002, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on March 18, 1927, in Topeka, Ks.
Surviving are his former wife, Janette Koch List, Columbus, Ohio; his children, Gus (Joy) Comstock, Chillicothe, Lynna Comstock, Chillicothe, Kim (Neil) DePugh, Waverly, Mary (Randall) VanHooser, Chillicothe, George (Amy) Comstock, Chillicothe and Kay (Shawn) Kirkhart, Columbus; 12 grandchildren; his mother, Mary Peterson, Topeka, Ks.; and a brother, Dr. Michael Peterson, Golden B.C., Canada.
Mr. Comstock attended Missouri Valley College on a football scholarship and later graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Ks. He retired in 1983, from the V.A. Medical Center as the Chief Recreation Director. He later retired from the City of Chillicothe as the Parks and Recreation Director. He served his country during World War II in the Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 757 and the Chillicothe Gun Club. Mr. Comstock was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and trap shooting.
A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at St. Paul Episcopal Church, with Fr. Richard Terry officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Episcopal Church, 33 E. Main St., Chillicothe, Ohio 45601. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home.

Martha L. Patterson
Martha L. Patterson, 82, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Tuesday morning, Oct. 8, 2002, in Westmoreland Place following an extended illness.
She was born May 2, 1920, in Bainbridge, Ohio, the daughter of Charles E. and Dot E. Pepple Higgins. On Sept. 21, 1940, she married Robert H. Patterson, who preceded her in death Mar. 30, 1990.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Charles David and Donna Patterson, Chillicothe and Robert L. and Talley Patterson, New Richmond, Ohio; granddaughters, Allyson Patterson, Pt. Marion, Pa. and Tricia McClung, Cincinnati, Ohio; and grandsons, Dr. Bradley Patterson, Lakeside, Ky., Drew Patterson, Hilliard, Ohio and Doug Patterson, New Richmond, Ohio. Her parents and a sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. Patterson was a long time employee of Adena Health System and the Ross County Senior Citizens. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
As she requested anatomical donation to the University of Cincinnati, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ross County Senior Citizens. The Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home is serving the family.

Anna Elizabeth Persinger
Anna Elizabeth Persinger, 73, of Zahn's Corner, Waverly, died Tuesday at Pike Community Hospital, Waverly.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home, Piketon. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

Charles E. Vetter Jr.
Charles E. Vetter Jr., 77, of Morganfield, Ky., died Sunday.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Whitsell Funeral Home, Morganfield. Burial will follow in Odd Fellow Cemetery, Morganfield. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Michael Benjamin Willke
Michael Benjamin Willke, dear stillborn son of Thomas and Lori (Allen) Willke, of Indian Springs; grandson of Marcella Allen and the late Marcella Willke, Richard Allen and A.H. Willke, M.D.; brother of Brittany, Adam, Andrew and the late Matthew, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002.
Graveside funeral service will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Rd., Montgomery, Thursday at 11 a.m.
If so desired, remembrances may be sent to Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati, Inc., 1802 W. Galbraith Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45239.
Paul R. Young Funeral Home, Mt. Healthy, is in charge of arrangements.

Herman "Red" Christman
Herman "Red" Christman, 94, of Galion, Ohio, recently of Chillicothe, died Sunday.
Arrangements are under the direction of Schneider Funeral Home, Galion.

Lois E. Miller
Lois E. (Jordan) Miller, 86, has gone to accept her wings on Oct. 9, 2002.
She was born on July 22, 1916, in Jenkins, Ky., to Dock and Victoria Jordan. On Aug. 13, 1936, she married her husband of 66 years, Earl L. Miller, who survives.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three children, Karen Kay (Marvin) Shoults and Walter H. (June) Miller, all of Chillicothe and Thomas E. (Gay) Miller II, of Centerville, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Vickie (Van) Ward, Cinda (David) Sparks, Debra (David) Bettendorf, Thomas E. (Nicole) Miller III, Tamora (Tom) Merrit, Michelle (Kevin) Trimble and Chuck (Jennifer) Miller; 17 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ransom, Edward, Millard, Wayne, Charles and George Jordan; and sisters, Jessie, Rosa and Barbara.
She retired from Alcoa in Chillicothe in 1976, after 20 years of service.
This was a very special lady. For those of you who knew her, no explanation is necessary. For those of you who didn't know her, she was the kindest, gentlest, loving person you could ever meet. She will be missed by family and friends, but just knowing that she has gone on to her great reward gives us all great comfort.
She was an active church member for the past sixty years. Currently she was a member of the Church of God on Witter Drive, pastored by John Hocker. John Hocker will be officiating at the funeral.
Calling hours will be observed from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 (tonight) at the Haller Funeral Home. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Twin Twp. Cemetery.
