Lonnie L. Payne
Lonnie L. Payne, 39, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly December 14, 2002, in Grant Medical Center. He was born October 23, 1963, in Circleville, to Phillip L. and Janet E. Cook Payne. On May 6, 1989, he married the former Elaine M. Domo, who survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Lindsey Marie Payne; son, Christian Michael Payne; his mother, Janet Cook Payne; sister, Kelley Lenzi; sister and brother-in-law, Kay (Herman) Cantrell; all of Chillicothe; brother, Larry L. Payne, Olympia, WA; brother and sister-in-law, Michael Alan (Rhonda) Payne, Rome, GA; father-in-law, Jerry Domo, Chillicothe; mother-in-law, Marlene Domo, Portsmouth; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Maureen (Joe) Zupi; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul (Jenni) Domo, all of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father.
Mr. Payne was a Case Manager for Ross Correctional Institute. He was a Persian Gulf War Army Veteran and an active Army Reservist. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the American Legion.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Church, Rev. James Black, celebrant. Military graveside services will follow in Springbank Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Charles E. "Chuck" Sims
Charles E. "Chuck" Sims, 81, of Chillicothe, died 9:10 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2002, in the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a short illness.
He was born February 4, 1921, in Ross County, to the late Roy and Mabel Stevenson Sims. On August 31, 1947, he married the former Verneda M. Barclay, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Teressa (Michael) Kemper, of Waverly, Vicki (Clarence) Lyons, and Becky (Jack) Wilt, all of Chillicothe, Brenda (Michael) Slagle, of Frankfort, and Sherri (Greg) Goode, of Hartsville, S.C.; grandchildren, Tracey, Kristina and Ashley Kemper, Stephanie Allen, Douglas (Jennifer) Lyons, Kevin, Chad, Jeffery and Joshua Lyons, Lee (Shelly) Gragg, Jeremy Gragg, Angel Eisnaugle, Brandon Sims-Clark, Natalie Sims, and Madison and Jared Goode; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clyde (Marge) Sims, of Chillicothe; sisters, Bertha Henness and Barbara Hines, both of Chillicothe, and Patricia Bennett, of Kingston; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Dana and William Sims.
Chuck was an avid fisherman, bowler and horseshoe pitcher. He was a retired electrician with 50 years of service having been last employed by S.O.S. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 575, 40 year member of the Ross County Horseshoe Pitchers Assoc. and was presented a lifetime membership award. Chuck was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2002, in the Ware Funeral Home with his niece, Rev. Carol Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Crouse Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at Wares from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ross County Horseshoe Pitchers Assoc. -- c/o Randy Shoemaker -- 1615 Hanna Lane --Londonderry, Ohio 45647.

Ruth Kuhar Rapp
Ruth Kuhar Rapp, age 90, of Waverly, died 6 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Manor in Piketon.
She was born September 14, 1912, in Oil Springs, Ky., a daughter of the late John H. and Lula M. Collins Ritchie. She is survived by two sons, Ben Adams of Waverly, John (Bonnie) Adams of Grove City; three grandchildren, Donald B. (Jenny) Adams of Seaman, Ohio, John D. (Elizabeth) Adams Jr. of Westerville, Ohio, and Vickie (Patrick) Payne of Columbus; four great-grandchildren and one sister, Alice Charles of St. Petersburg, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters. Ruth retired from DCSC in Columbus, and was a member of the Chillicothe Church of Christ.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly with Rev. Jimmie William officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 - 8:00 pm Monday and from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Eleanor M. Pettit
Eleanor M. Pettit, 88, of Second Street, Piketon, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday at her residence.
Arrangements are pending at Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly.

Mary E. Leonard
Mary Ellen (Brodbeck) Leonard, 81, was born Nov. 5, 1921, to Charles Brodbeck and Mary Leola Sturgill in Columbus.

Mildred B. Zimmerman
Mildred B. Zimmerman, 82, of Piketon, died Friday at The Ohio State University Hospital.
Her funeral service is 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home, Piketon. Burial will take place at Bailey Chapel Cemetery, Piketon. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Doris E. Corcoran
Doris E. Corcoran, 75, of Chillicothe, died 4:15 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2002, in the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
She was born May 14, 1927, in Vigo, OH, to Charles E. and Clarice Burke Hart. On May 16, 1953, she married John Corcoran, who survives.
Also surviving are 15 children, Kathy Corcoran, of Frankfort, Susan (Greg) Knight and Jody Ray, of Chillicothe, Judy (Tony) Liles, Waxhaw, NC, Peggy Weaver, Bambi Corcoran, and Angie (Aaron) Brown, all of Chillicothe, John (Cheri) Corcoran, of Oxford, OH, Michael (Lana) Corcoran, David Corcoran, Joe (Michelle) Corcoran, Paul (Ceil) Corcoran, Nick (Mona) Corcoran, all of Chillicothe, Major Chuck (Kasey) Corcoran, Edwards, CA, and Doug (Teresa) Corcoran, of Chillicothe; 26 grandchildren, Lyndsay, J.T. and Derek Corcoran, Jessica Mayer, Stephanie Corcoran, Steve, Sam and Sean Knight, Ryan Janes, T.J., Karen and Tonya Liles, Dustin, Jason, Matt, and Amy Weaver, Benjamin Corcoran, Josh and Max Corcoran, Kenneth, Taylor, Emily and Nicholas Corcoran, Connor Corcoran, Kyelle Corcoran, and Christian Brown; a sister and two brothers, Pauline (Charles) Gerlach, of Kenton, OH, Charles E. (Libby) Hart, of Wilmington, OH, and Richard (Gwen) Hart, of Chillicothe. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Jane.
Mrs. Corcoran graduated Salutatorian of the Southeastern High School Class of 1944, at age 16. She received her formal training as an RN from Jewish Hospital School of Nursing, in Cincinnati. After practicing as an RN there, she returned to the Chillicothe Hospital. She developed friendships with co-workers that lasted a lifetime.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2003, Rev. James Black, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter's Church Building Fund, or the Bishop Flaget School Endowment, at 122 Church Street, Chillicothe.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and aunt, she led a life of caring, sharing and volunteering, that is a model for us all. Our Lord has taken her to bless His Kingdom with her kindness, but she will forever be our ray of hope, and our guiding light.

Larry E. Farmer
Larry E. Farmer, 39, of Logan, Ohio, died 4:15 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2002, in the Ohio State University Hospitals unexpectedly.
He was born August 8, 1963 in Ross Co. to John W. Jr. and Betty Gallaugher Farmer., of Chillicothe, who survives.
Also surviving are; children, Anthony "Tony" Michael Farmer of Chillicothe, Dakota Kane Farmer, Cherokee Sky Farmer and Reno West Farmer, all at home; brothers, John R. (Gloria) Farmer and Tim Farmer, all of Chillicothe; sister, Jeanie (Donnie) Roff, of Chillicothe; a niece and several nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; a special friend, Cathy Mohler of Logan and her children, Guy and Nikki.
Larry was a nursery worker for the Eastside Nursery of Groveport, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2003, in the Ware Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Penrod officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Ware's from 12 to 2 p.m. Thursday.

Jean Morrison Moss
Jean Morrison Moss, 56, of Los Angeles, California, passed away at her residence on December 20, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Mayhew Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Ragland Cemetery.

Dorr L. Van Etten
Dorr L. Van Etten, of Kingston, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 29, 2002, at the home of his daughter, after an extended illness.
He was born in Harrison Valley, Pennsylvania, on October 1, 1913, to William and Sara Van Etten. He was married to his beloved wife and helpmate, Ruth Alice Simmons, for 63 years, before her death in 1999.
He is survived by his daughter, Sara Black, of San Jose, California; daughter and son-in-law, Richard (Faith Patricia) Reed, of Kingston; three grandsons, Bill (Desiree) Black, Bob (Robin) Black, and Todd Reed and his fiancee Felicia; a granddaughter, Adam (Colleen) Drake; and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Brooks, of Westfield, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special friend of the family who helped care for him in his final months of life, Cindy Acker. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers and a sister.
Rev. Van Etten was a graduate of Penn State University and New Brunswick Theological Seminary and served as the pastor of several churches in New York State, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Wayne, New Jersey, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Kissimmee, Florida. He dedicated his life to serving others.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Potter Brook, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his name to the First Presbyterian Church in Kissimmee, Florida, or to the Alzheimer's Association 3380 Tremont Rd., Columbus, OH 43221.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home.

Gernell M. Vickers
Gernell M. Vickers, died Sunday, December 29, 2002, in Washington Court House, Ohio.
A native of Chillicothe, she was born November 27, 1913. She was married August 27, 1932, to her husband of 64 years, Joseph E. Vickers, who died on May 16, 1997. She was also predeceased by her parents,Grover Cleveland Minney and Margaret Gire Minney.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chillicothe and Phi Beta Psi Sorority. She was an officer of the Ohio Republican State Central Executive Committee and the Ross County Republican Women's Club. She was active in her community in the American Cancer Society, Chillicothe Community Chest, Red Cross, PTA, and Civil Defense. She retired from the City of Chillicothe Income Tax Department.
She is survived by her brother, Gene Minney and his family, Linda, David, John, Coleman and Leslie. Her children, Richard and Sharon Pearson Vickers, Tad and Jean Vickers and Margaret and Dan Curtin; grandchildren, Steven ( Kelley) Patrick, Susan (Kevin )Weller, Jennifer ( Dan) Smith, Jason ( Paula) Vickers, Joseph Vickers and Jonathon, Emily and Jesse Pearson; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Courtney, Jack, Mick, Savanna, Sierra and Corey.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 787 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio with Rev. Deacon Ciritta Park officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ware Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Ohio.
