Greta B. Harris
Greta B. Harris, 67, of Walnut Street, Waverly, OH, died 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at her home.
She was born December 18, 1935, the daughter of the late Elzie C. Davis and Geneva (Blair) Davis, of Beaver, OH. On December 25, 1952, she was united in marriage to Willard Herman Harris, who survives.
Greta was homemaker.
Surviving are one son, Marty (Janice) Harris, of Waverly, OH; four daughters, Angie (John) May, of Chillicothe, OH, Ginny (John) Dutcher, Sonie (Mark) Thomas and Trisha (Sam) Gilbert, all of Waverly, OH; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Elzie (Tina) Davis Jr., of Fort Wayne, IN, Ronald (Ruth) Davis, of Chillicothe, OH, and Gary (Shirley) Davis, of Beaver, OH; two sisters, Shelba (Bob) Miller, of Waverly, OH, and Julie (Bob) Oldaker, of Chillicothe, OH.
Greta was preceded in death by her father, one sister, Patricia Ann Davis and two grandsons, Joshua and Daniel.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, at the Boyer Funeral Home, in Waverly, OH, with Rev. J. Bill Acord officiating. Burial will follow in Omega Cemetery, Waverly, OH.
Friends may call at the Boyer Funeral Home 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Susan D. Jackson
Susan Delane Jackson, 56, of Kelly Drive, Chillicothe, Ohio, died 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born December 14, 1946, the daughter of the late James Roland Hopkins and Dorothy Louise (Ruble) Hopkins, of Greeville, South Carolina. On June 2, 1997, she was united in marriage to John Harry Jackson, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Doug Williams of Piketon, Ohio; one daughter, Holly (Mike) Southworth, of Piketon; stepdaughter, Jill Jackson, of Chillicothe; stepson, Danny Murray, of Chillicothe; sister, Patti (Bob) Pedigo, of Seneca, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Barbara (C.D.) Coates, of Chillicothe; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Susan was a retired elementary school teacher for the Eastern Local School District in Pike County and a member of Lotus Christian Fellowship in Waverly.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, at the Boyer Funeral Home, in Waverly, with Tim Peek, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens at Chillicothe.
Friends may call at the Boyer Funeral Home 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Anna H. 'Peg' Willis
Anna H. "Peg" Willis, age 91, of Frankfort, died Wednesday afternoon in Heartland of Chillicothe.
Arrangements are pending at the Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort.

Paul B. Hartley
Paul B. Hartley, 79, of Stoutsville, died Wednesday, at home.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston, with Rev. Bachman officiating. Friends may call Saturday 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Hill's. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Martha S. Dykes
Martha S. Dykes, 58, of Chillicothe died 3:10 am, June 7, 2003, in her home following an extended illness.
She was born March 2, 1945 in Lima, OH to Leroy F. and Viola W. Burden Miller. On September 18, 1970 she married James D. Dykes who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rhonda (William) Riddle, and Iris Rayburn, both of Chillicothe; a son, James Dykes, of Chillicothe; three step-children, Debra Dykes and Pamela Dykes of Maryville, TN, and Timothy Dykes, of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren, Timothy Hensley, Campbell Hensley, Sierra Adams, Aaron Rayburn, Jameson Dykes, Annebelle Dykes, TJ Dykes, Stormy Dykes and Jimmy Dykes; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rachel Chaney, Muriel Smith, and Erma Duran; six brothers, Guy, Donald, Terry, Philip, Ronnie and Jeffrey Miller. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Mrs. Dykes was a member of the Kingston Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm Monday in the Haller Funeral Home with Jim Pollard and Larry Penn officiating. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Mid-Ohio, 1950 Arlingate Lane, Columbus, OH 43228.

Gladys Rose Vaughn
Gladys Rose Vaughn, of Bagdad, FL., died Friday, June 6, 2003.
Mrs. Vaughn was born in West Junction, Ohio and has resided in Bagdad for many years.
Mrs. Vaughn's husband, Morris D. (Jim) Vaughn her parents, Arnold Glenmore Hill and Gertrude Altie Hill, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her sister, Doris Hill if Chillicothe, Ohio; three daughters, Barbara Burgett (Byron) of Bagdad, Leslie Vaughn of Milton, and Joella (Phillip) of Colin., MI; three sons, J.D. Vaughn (Mary Ann) of New Orleans, Johnny Vaughn (Pattie) of Plano, TX, and Adam Vaughn; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two aunts, two uncles and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003 at First Apostolic Church in Pea Ridge, FL with Reverend Larry Webb officiating.
Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends before the service at the church.

Virginia C. Lutz
Virginia C. Lutz, 83, of Washington C.H., died Sunday, June 15, 2003, shortly after arrival at the Magruder Hospital,, in Port Clinton.
Mrs. Lutz was born Aug. 23, 1919, in Ross Co., to John Franklin and Hazel Marie Minch Dearth. She was a 1938 graduate of Centralia High School, in Ross Co.
She had been a member of the South Solon United Methodist Church since 1946 and was a volunteer Gray Lady at the Chillicothe VAMC for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Lutz, on Feb. 28, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Dearth and a brother-in-law, William Lutz.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce E. Lutz, of Columbus; two sons, Charles B. Lutz, Jr., of Leesburg, and John R. Lutz, of Jeffersonville; daughter-in-law, Joyce A. Lutz, of Jeffersonville; seven granddaughters; four great grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Maxine Dearth and Francis and Doris Dearth, all of Chillicothe, and Stanley and Louise Dearth, of Sandusky, Ohio; and two sisters, Mildred Lutz, of Columbus, and Bernadine Helton and her husband, Kenneth, of Chillicothe, and a sister-in-law, Helen Dearth, of Chillicothe.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Springbank United Methodist Church at Yellowbud, with the Rev. Sylvia Hull officiating. Burial will follow in the Springbank Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home, in Washington C.H. Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the South Solon United Methodist Church, c/o Marty Mace, 24920 Locust Grove Road, Williamsport, OH 43164 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 67, Circleville, OH 43113.

Arilene M. Thomas
Arilene M. Thomas, 69, of Chillicothe. Her spirit ascended into Heaven at 9:46 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003, while being cared for in the St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake, OH, following a brief illness.
She was born August 2, 1933, to the late Roy Hitchens and Madeline Dixon. Arilene was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
She was formerly married to James "Dude" Thomas, Sr. To this union were born Joslyn Dowe, wife of Rudy Dowe, of North Olmsted, OH, and James Thomas, Jr., husband of Denise Hayes-Thomas, of Dayton; grandchildren, Tracy (Donna) Dowe, Ashleigh Dowe, Von Abram Thomas, Kennede' Thomas, twins Benae' Thomas and Ja'Niece Thomas; brothers, Wayne Hitchens, Robert (Cheryl) Hitchens and Kenneth (Becky) Hitchens, all of Chillicothe and Larry (Myra) Hitchens, of Tampa, FL; sisters, Etha Graves, Marcella Hitchens and Ethel Mae Pettiford, all of Chillicothe, and Jennie Harbin, of Charleston, WV; also left to be thankful for her life is her aunt, Mildred Martin and uncle, Harold Kinney; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by brothers, Ralph Dixon and Roy Burrell.
Sister Arilene was educated in the Chillicothe Public Schools and graduated from Chillicothe High School. She was a believer in learning all that one can and attended some classes at Ohio University - Chillicothe. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for over fifty years. She was a former member of the Usher Board and worked in the Children's Church. Sister Arilene worked passionately with the Hattie Jackson Guild. She enjoyed attending many conferences and workshops of the National Baptist Conventions USA, Inc. at the state and local levels. She was involved with the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association and its Chillicothe District. She was honored as one of the Women of the Year in 1998. She participated on programs of the State Hattie Jackson Guild of the Ohio Baptist General Convention. She was chairperson of the Sunshine Committee of the E.U.M.B.A., National Baptist World Day of Prayer member, Co-Chair of the Missionary Outreach-E.U.M.B.A. and Hostess of the E.U.M.B.A. Annual Banquet.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday June 19, 2003, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan McReynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church from 10-11 a.m. Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ware Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Thomas Family College Fund - c/o Huntington National Bank - 1 N. Paint Street -Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.

Deborah Mankin Townsend, 48, of Chillicothe, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, in OSU Hospital, Columbus, following an extended illness.
