Ralph Emmanuel Townsend
Ralph Emmanuel Townsend, 72, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Friday morning, Dec. 3, 2004 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born Jan. 13, 1932 in Ross County, the son of Jesse W. and Lucy (Bell) Townsend. On June 21, 1961 he married Joyce A. Riley who survives.
Also surviving is a son, Bruce E. Townsend, a sister, Margaret Hawk, brothers, Billy Townsend, all of Chillicothe and Jack Townsend, Independence, OR, sisters-in-law, Virginia Roush and Nancy Riley, both of Chillicothe, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Betty Riley, Chillicothe and Robert and Virginia Riley, Rockledge, FL, a host of nieces and nephews and special friends, Oddie and Jean Merriman, Chillicothe. His parents, sisters, Ruth Oyer and Jean Barnes and a brother, Julius Townsend preceded him in death.
Mr. Townsend was a retired employee of Mead Paper with 46 years of service. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Orchard Hill United Church of Christ and Frankfort Lodge 309, F&AM.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 in the Orchard Hill United Church of Christ with Rev. Martha Kline officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military rites by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad. The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, with a Masonic service by Frankfort Lodge 309 at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Orchard Hill United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 1683, Chillicothe, OH 45601.

Patricia P. Hay
Patricia P. Hay, 58, of Ray, passed from this life early Monday morning, July 19, 2004 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born Mar. 16, 1946 in Louisa, KY, the daughter of Taylor and Myrtle Thompson York. On Nov. 16, 1963 she married Willard R. Hay who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Wilson Bapst, Jackson, a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Dianna Hay, Chillicothe, grandchildren, Cassandra Bapst and Tasha Hay, step-grandchildren, Dennale and Hustin Speakman, several half sisters and half brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hubert and Gertrude Hay, Ray and Britt and Margaret Hay, Chillicothe, a brother-in-law, Donald Hay, Richmond Dale and several cousins. Her parents preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hay was a member of the Trippieville United Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 22, 2004 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Buckeye Cemetery, Jackson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday.

Marcella Marie Parker
Marcella Marie Parker, 90, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 15, 2004 in the Chillicothe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. She was born Oct. 7, 1913 in Pick away County, the daughter of Lee and Mary Olive (Edmonds) Ward. On Aug. 22, 1953 she married Thomas Ray Parker who preceded her in death Apr. 11, 1989.
Surviving is a step-son, James (Tina) Hayes, Nipomo, CA, several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, a niece, Margaret Tedford, Chillicothe and a nephew, William Arnett, Kingston. Her parents and a half sister, Myrtle Arnett preceded her in death.
Mrs. Parker was retired from the Singer Sewing Center with over 40 years of service. She was a 60-year member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a long time member of B.P.W., had served as a state officer in the Pocahontas Lodge and enjoyed the Ross County Senior Citizens.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 in Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Carol Davis officiating. Calling hours will not be observed.

Herbert F. Speakman
Herbert F. Speakman, 81, formerly of Chillicothe, passed from this life unexpectedly on Sunday, July 18, 2004 in Brandon Community Hospital, Brandon, FL. He was born Mar. 21, 1923 in Chillicothe, the son of Jacob and Bertha J. Edgington Speakman. On June 28, 1946 he married Mary Lou Karamalkis who preceded him in death Jan. 6, 1995.
Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and George Felts, Valrico, FL, sons and daughters-in-law, George H. and Peggy Speakman, Chillicothe, Dale A. and Mary Lou Speakman, Frankfort, sons, David W. Speakman, Titusville, FL and Daniel L. Speakman, Chillicothe, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sisters, Ruth M. (Charles D.) Ault, Chillicothe and Vera Graves, Inverness, FL, a brother, Ronald D. (Naomi) Speakman, Chillicothe, a sister-in-law, Rebecca J. Farley and a brother-in-law, George Karamalkis, both of Chillicothe. His parents and a sister, Violet Campbell preceded him in death.
Mr. Speakman was a retired employee of Chilpaco, with 37 years of service. He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in WW II. He was a member of the Ross County Senior Citizens, American Legion Post 757 and the Mead Retirees Club.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 24, 2004 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. R. Michael Denney officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with military rites by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 pm on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association of the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.

Ethel Murray
Ethel Murray, 96 of Chillicothe, passed unexpectedly from this life, 2:19 am, Saturday, August 14, 2004 in the Adena Regional Medical Center Emergency Department.
She was born August 11, 1908 in Jackson County, the daughter of the late Harry and the late Ada Crago Farmer. On September 19, 1924, she married the late Ernest F. Murray who preceded her in death in 1981.
Surviving are two daughters, Marjorie Murray and Lucille Rearley, both of Chillicothe; one son, Otis Murray, Vigo; two daughters-in-law, Grace Murray and Barbara Murray; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and several stepsons, step daughters, and step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Helen Murray, a son Oakley Murray, 1 sister and 2 brothers.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM, Wednesday, August 18, 2004 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass & Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday.

Donald C. Smith
Donald C. Smith, a devoted husband and father, 83 of Londonderry died 10:55 am, Saturday, August 14, 2004 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born, February 24, 1921 in Ray, OH, the son of the late Henry Albert and the late Ida Victoria Dixon Smith. On February 3, 1946, he married the former Geneva Downs who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Dan Weber, Ashville, and Kathy and Mike Murray, Waverly; one son and late daughter-in-law Steven and Marty Smith, Londonderry; one son-in-law, Wayne McGraw, Circleville; three grandchildren, Travis (Regina) McGraw, Stephanie (Eddie) Butler, and Airman 1st Class Justin Murray; one great granddaughter Holli Ann McGraw; and two brothers Cletis Smith, McArthur and Owen Smith, Tecumseh, MI. 1 daughter, Carol Ann McGraw, 2 sisters, and 8 brothers, preceded him in death.
Mr. Smith was a WW II veteran serving in the US Army, 753rd Railroad Shop Battalion, he faithfully attended Valley Friends Church, he was retired from Wearever after 32 years of service. Donald was an avid mushroom hunter, and took great pride in his lawn and gardening skills.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 am, Wednesday, August 18, 2004 in the Valley Friends Church, on Old Route 50, Londonderry, with Pastors Ed and Clarence Dozer officiating. Burial will follow in Boblett Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fawcett Oliver Glass & Palmer Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday.

Beulah Belle (Alexander) Vaughn
Beulah Belle (Alexander) Vaughn, 86, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Tuesday morning, Aug. 17, 2004 in Heartland of Chillicothe following an extended illness. She was born Oct. 23, 1917 in Lewis County, Firebrick, KY, the daughter of James W. and Geneva B. Honaker Alexander. On Apr. 26, 1934 she married Sanford Vaughn, who preceded her in death Feb. 5, 1982.
Surviving are daughters, Julia and husband, Larry Yahraus, Chillicothe, Freda and husband, Charles Ratcliff, Londonderry and Carolyn and husband, David Phipps, Chillicothe, sons, Sanford, Jr. and wife, Joyce Vaughn, Pickerington, David Vaughn, Greenfield and Richard and wife, Vicki Vaughn, Lancaster, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren, a brother, John and wife, Violet Alexander, Rittman, OH and several nieces and nephews in northern Ohio and several cousins in southern Ohio, Kentucky and Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Mary Ellen, sons, James A. Vaughn and Jerry P. Vaughn and a brother, Cecil Alexander.
She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and enjoyed her many years as a volunteer for the Ross County Senior Citizens Center.
Beulah was charitable, hardworking and busy. She married very young and gave her life caring for her family. She spent many hours seeing to her husband’s and her children’s needs. She was a wonderful mother, homemaker and loved visiting with family and friends. Beulah had many challenges during her lifetime, but always came back strong. She is finally at peace. Her individuality, as well as her dedication to her family will not be forgotten.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday in Concord Cemetery with Rev. Ken Martin officiating. The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Ross County Senior Citizens Center.

Geraldine M. Bradbury
Geraldine M. Bradbury, 74, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 8, 2004 in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born Aug. 19, 1930 in Muncie, IN, the daughter of Delbert and Clova Pierce DeVore. On Aug. 15, 1953 she married Wilbur M. Bradbury who preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1980.
Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Ineth and Joe Wright, Waverly, a daughter, Tracy L. Bradbury, Chillicothe, grandchildren, Heather, Stephanie, Jason, Brady, William, Lacie, Kaycie and Montana, great grandchildren, Bryanna and Kyle, and special friends, Dave and Cindy Mitchell and family, Chillicothe. Her parents and a son, Dennis N. Bradbury preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bradbury had been an employee of Buckeye Mart and Hart’s Department Store, retiring in 1979.
Private funeral services will be held at the discretion of the family, with burial in Pennisten Cemetery, Pike County. Calling hours will not be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Marie A. McCain Ward Reynolds
Marie A. McCain Ward Reynolds, 87, of Chillicothe, passed from this life and went home to be with her Savior on Wednesday evening, June 30, 2004 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born in Jackson, Ohio, April 15, 1917 the daughter of Carl L. and Merril Brady McCain. In 1960 she married Kenneth L. “Dick” Reynolds, who preceded her in death in 1979.
Surviving is a daughter, Lynn Ward Neumann, Chillicothe, grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Paloma Neumann, Chicago, IL, Thomas and his wife, Kimberly Neumann, Syracuse, NY and James Neumann, Minneapolis, MN, great grandson, Phillip Neumann, great granddaughter, Taylor Neumann and great grandsons, Michael and Tom Hines. Her parents and a son-in-law, Duane Neumann preceded her in death.
Mrs. Reynolds was raised in Jackson She was a retired employee of the Federal Prison System and had been a long time associate of the Lazarus Stores in Columbus. She was a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church and the North Fork Garden Club.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Tad Grover officiating. Private interment services will be held at the discretion of the family. Calling hours will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Dorothy L. Crego
Dorothy L. Crego, 82, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Monday evening, Mar. 8, 2004 in the Chillicothe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. She was born Dec. 21, 1921 in Ross County, the daughter of Phillip Henry and Mary Walsh Haynes. She was married to Clarence Arledge, who preceded her in death. On June 22, 1968, she married Harold L. Crego, who preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1986.
Surviving are daughters, Mary Stewart, Chillicothe and Dorothy Eads Henderson, Youngstown, FL, a son, Clarence Henry Arledge, Virginia Beach, VA, step-daughters, Norma Peters and Jeanette Farley, both of Arizona and Beverly Humphreys, Columbus, 6 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren, sisters, Myrtle McKibben, Zalaski, Gertrude Hay, Ray, Gladys Davis and Majel Gossett, both of Chillicothe, brothers, Robert Haynes, Ray and Charles Haynes, Jacksonville, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. Crego was a retired employee of the A&P Grocery Store. She was a member of The Salvation Army.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Major Betty Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday.
