Florence G. Simon, 92, Fair Haven Shelby County Home, Sidney, Ohio died at the nursing home on Sunday, June 17, 2007 at 12:30 AM. She was born November 2, 1914 in Russia, Ohio the daughter of Marion and Lena (Francis) Coffield. She married Chester T. Simon on December 8, 1934 and he is deceased. Surviving are two sons, Richard and wife Elaine of Sidney; Thomas and wife Beverly of Sidney; two daughters, Barbara O'Leary of Sidney; and Deborah Latimer of of Columbus, Ohio; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, George Coffield of Sidney and Marion of California and one sister, Rosalie Burch of Alaska; three brothers and three sisters are deceased. She was a member of the Sidney VFW Auxiliary, belonged to several card clubs and the Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She has worked at Wilson Memorial Hospital as the supervisor of the dietary department. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Holy Angels Catholic Church at 10:30 AM with Rev. Patrick McMullen. Burial will be at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fair Haven Shelby County Home, 2901 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio 45365.

Shirley E. Born, 82, 10 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Sidney, Ohio died at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio on Monday, June 18, 2007 at 9:05 AM. She was born November 20, 1924 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Woodall) Born. She moved to Sidney in the 1950's from Dayton, Ohio and married James Born in 1955. He died in 1985. Surviving are one son, Mike Born and his wife Vicky of Columbus, Ohio and one grandson, Nathan Wade and one brother, Dale Woodall and wife Joyce of Florida. Two brothers, Richard and Jim Woodall are deceased. Mrs. Born was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton, Ohio. She was an active volunteer; a member of the Sidney American Legion Ladies Auxiliary; very active and a life member of the First Baptist Church, Sidney and a current member of the Belmont Methodist Church, Dayton, Ohio. She was a homemaker. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 22, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home with Rev. George Gnade. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery, Sidney. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday. The family invites everyone to the American Legion in Sidney for lunch following the committal service at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post 217, 1265 Fourth Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365 or to the charity of one's choice.

Albert William (Bill) Rickert

Albert William (Bill) Rickert, 42, 1321 Imperial Ct., Troy, Ohio, formerly of Greenville, Ohio died at Hospice of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 2:50 PM after a short illness. He was born December 14, 1964 in Sidney, Ohio the son of John Franklin Rickert of Sidney and Kathleen June (Williamson) Hutchison of Tipp City, Ohio and stepmother, Virginia Rickert of Sidney (wife of John) and stepfather Joseph of Tipp City, Ohio (wife of Kathleen; two brothers, Mark and wife Lisa of Greenville, Ohio and John of Columbus, Ohio and four step sisters and three step brothers.
Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a 1986 graduate of Greenville High School. He had been an employee of Kroger's in Troy, Ohio. Private graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Pearl cemetery, Swanders, Ohio with Elder Mark Rickert. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.

Marie K. Pence

Marie K. Pence, 88, 10200 Scott Rd., Sidney, Ohio died at Wilson Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 11:18 AM. She was born October 19, 1918 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Koch) Zumberge. She was married on June 2, 1948 to Carl Pence in St. Patrick, Ohio and he died July 3, 1978. Surviving are five children, Mary Ann Pence of Sidney; Charles and Lin Pence of Sidney: Kathleen and Jeff Longbrake of Bowling Green, Ohio; Carol and Bern Nagenast of Anna, Ohio; and Jeanette and William Stallworth of Marion, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Megan Coates, C. J. Pence, John Pence, Sarah, Emily, and Katelin Longbrake, Tatyana, Anne, and Therese Nagengast and Audrey and Ryan Stallwroth; 2 step grandchilren, Greg Maury and Melissa Stallworth and 4 step-great grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Irma Pence and Grace Pence. A brother, Nicholas Zumberge and a sister, Margaret Broerman and a grandson, Zachary Pence preceded her in death. Mrs. Pence was a graduate of Minster High School and attended business college for one year. She was a homemaker, a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and a member of Schoenstat. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Patrick McMullen. Burial will be at Pearl cemetery, Swanders, Ohio. Friends may call on Monday, July 16, 2007 from 4-8 PM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home. A Schoenstat prayer service will be held at 7:45 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice, 915 W. Michigan St., Sidney, Ohio 45365; Holy Angels Catholic Church Repair and Maintainence Fund, 324 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365 or the Schoenstat of Ohio. Envelopes will also be available at the the funeral home.

Roger Lee Walker

Roger Lee Walker, 56, 701 Monroe St., Sidney, Ohio died at his residence on Thursday, July 12, 2007. He was born July 17, 1950 in Greenbriar, West Virginia the son of Samuel A. and Betty Jean (Loudermilk) Walker. They are deceased. He married Debra Elaine Eley on February 12, 1999 and she survives. Also surviving are three children, Angela Walker of Sidney; Scott Walker of Sidney and Darren Walker of Sidney; three step-children, Brandon McKnight, Travis McKnight, Leslie McKnight; two grandchildren, Tara Adkins and Darrien Walker; one sister, Sandy Chitwood and husband Larry of Sidney, Ohio; two brothers, Gary Walker of Sidney and Kevin Walker and wife Doris of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. A brother, Samuel A. Walker Jr. and a sister, Deanna Lambert are deceased. He was a 1968 graduate of Sidney High School. He was a NASCAR fan, loved to deer hunt, fish, hunt and loved his beloved Golden Retrievers, Shadow and Sammy. He had been an employee of the Stolle Corp. for 27 years and was most recently employed there as a scheduler. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Jarrett. Burial will be at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 from 4-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby County Humane Society and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

William F. Baumann

William F. Baumann, 100, Fair Haven Shelby County Home, Sidney, Ohio died at the nursing home on Monday, August 6, 2007 at 10:30 AM after failing health. He was born April 29, 1907 in Sidney, Ohio the son of William H. and Margaret (Miller) Baumann. On August 24, 1931 he married Wilma Crusey and she died in 2000. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Tim Baumann and wife Janice of Sidney and Dr. William James "Jim" Baumann and wife Mary of Anacortes, Washington; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers are deceased. He was a graduate of Holy Angels High School and a past member of the Sidney Elks and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. He had worked at Monarch in Sidney for twenty years and Stolle Corp. in Sidney for twnety years where he retired as an office worker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Patrick McMullen. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church, 324 S. Brian D. Bunnell

He was born June 13, 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Paul Immel and Miriam Wells and they are deceased. On October 8, 1977 he married Judy E. Wagner and she survives along with six children, Allen Bunnell of Sidney; Tam and husband Jeff Whidner of Ft. Loramie, Ohio; Carol and husband Terry Edwards of Houston, Ohio; Charles (Bud) Cotrell of Sidney; Jody and husband Tim Barhorst of Wapakoneta, Ohio; Josh and wife Mandy Napier of Springboro, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Amy and husband Chris Hughes; Brooks and wife Tessa Bunnell; Kira and husband Aaron Westergerdes; Alyssa Barhorst; Chloe and Riley Napier; Jeremy Cotrell and Devin Wilkins; eight great-grandchildren; one grandson, Ryan Edwards, one stepdaughter, Tonya Cotrell and one stepson, Ted Cotrell are deceased. He was a 1954 graduate of Sidney High School. He was a member of the Sidney Elks and was the past exalted ruler of the Elks. He was a member of the Bread of Life Church in Sidney. He was retired from Schaffer Metal Fabricators in Sidney. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home with Pastors Mark Wagner, Gary Wagner Jr., and Philip Wethington. Geraldine (Jerry) Alice Wilson

Geraldine (Jerry) Alice Wilson, 91, was called home on Friday, August 17, 2007 at 9:50 AM. She died at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney, where she had been a resident for nine years. She was born November 20, 1915 in Sidney, Ohio to Harley and Estella (Murphy) Wyer the 2nd oldest of six children. She lived for a brief time in West Virginia, but spent most of her life in or around Sidney. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Nelson R. Wilson Sr. who died December 12, 1976 and her son, Nelson Robert (Bob) Wilson who died January 21, 2006 and also deceased brothers and their spouses, Edward and Mary Ruth, Ellsworth (Al) and Ede, Eugene, Thomas (Max) and Helen (Jo) Wyer. She is survived by her loving and devoted family of children and their spouses: Gary and Sue Van Fossen of Sidney; Dick and Judy Helmer of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Jim Wilson of Quincy, Ohio; and Jack and Kathy Wilson of Rochester Hills, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Gerry Wilson of Dublin, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren, Robert W. Wilson of Columbus, Ohio, David M. Wilson of Marysville, Ohio, Linda Parker of Columbus, Ohio, Doug Van Fossen of Upper Arlington, Ohio, Eric Van Fossen of Sidney, Angela Van Fossen of Columbus, Ohio, R. Craig Helmer of Minster, Ohio, Steven Helmer of Edgewood, New Mexico, Alisa Gibson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Debra Silvers, Troy, Ohio, Kimberly Lind, Seattle, Washington, David S. Wilson, Duran, Michigan and Julia Wilson, Marshall, Michigan; one step grandchild, twenty-five great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren; her sister and spouse, Martha and Roscoe Bowman of Greenville, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Eugene (Ann) Wyer and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sidney where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, served on various committees, and was a deaconess. She proudly served as a past president of Church Women United. She had been in the Rainbow Gardeners. For twenty-six years she was employed at Copeland Corp. in Sidney as an inspector and later she worked the nightshift in first aid. She had worked at Monarch and Lears in Piqua at one time. Many will remember her for her lovely singing voice and the times she brightened our lives with her spontaneous singing. It was very difficult to name a tune or hymn she couldn't recall and sing. Friends may call at the First Baptist Church, 309 E. North St., Sidney, Ohio on Monday, August 20, 2007 from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the church on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Rev. George Gnade. Burial will follow at Cedar Point cemetery, Pasco, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the First Baptist Church, 309 E. North St., Sidney, Ohio 45365 or the Dorothy Love Retirement Community Life Care Fund, 3003 W. Cisco Rd., Sidney, Ohio 45365. Envelopes will also be available at the church.

Zelma K. Dilbone

Zelma K. Dilbone, 85, of Sidney, died at the Pavilion Nursing Home, Sidney, Ohio on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 9:55 PM. She was born February 9, 1922 in Phil Campbell, Alabama the daughter of Parks and Velma (Kuykendall) Heath and they are deceased. She moved to Sidney in January, 1958 from Chattanooga, Tennessee. She married David M. Dilbone on March 24, 1967 and he died September 10, 1983. Surviving are two stepsons, Mike and wife Janet Dilbone and Mitch and wife Laverna all of Sidney; seven grandchildren, Tina and husband Dan Broadderick of Mason, Ohio; Chris and wife Sarah Dilbone of Bowling Green, Ohio; Chad and wife Becky Dilbone of Graham, Texas; Monica and husband Dan Turner of New Palestine, Indiana; Michelle and husband Bill Everett of Sidney, Ohio; Jennifer and husband Chad Stratton of Kokomo, Indiana; and David and wife Summer Dilbone of Troy, Ohio and fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Willene Budai of Chandler, Arizona. Two sisters are deceased, Gladys Layton and Helen Merrell. She was a past member of East Center Baptist Church, Center, Alabama. She worked at the Atlas Underwear Company in Piqua, Ohio for thirteen years and retired in 1970. Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Warkentine. Burial will be at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, August 31, 2007 from 4-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
