REDLINGER
Paul A. Redlinger, 89, of Scott, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at Hawthorn Court in Paulding.
He was born January 1, 1915, in Convoy, the son of the late John Samuel and Cora (Denig) Redlinger. On June 19, 1937, he married Lela Evelyn Youtsey, who died August 27, 1986.
Mr. Redlinger was retired from Federal-Mogul Corporation after 43 years service.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Mills of Belleville, Mich.; a friend, Helen Pastor of Latty, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two brothers, Harry Lewis Redlinger and John Robert Redlinger, and a sister, Agnes Greulach.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 17, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Bob Ratliff officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Friday, January 16, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of donor's choice.

SMITH
Clare Eugene Smith, 86, a former resident of Paulding, died at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at Chesterwood Village Nursing Home in West Chester.
He was born November 20, 1917, in Paulding, the son of the late Harley and Emma (Myers) Smith. On June 27, 1947, he married Eunice H. Rhoad, who survives.
Mr. Smith was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of Paulding United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of John Paulding Historical Society, also in Paulding.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, David (Kem) Smith of Lubbock, Texas, Ronald (Mary Ann) Smith of West Chester and Jerold Smith of Shaker Heights; a sister, Doris (William) Scott of Van Wert; five grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 19, at Paulding United Methodist Church, the Rev. Jack Berry officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery in Paulding, with military graveside services performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 587 in Paulding.
Calling hours were 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 18, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding, and will also be conducted an hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Paulding United Methodist Church or John Paulding Historical Society.

ATHAS
Mary E. Athas, 80, of Van Wert, died at 6:15 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born January 18, 1924, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of the late Alexander and Anna (Denhart) Athas. She never married.
Miss Athas was the retired manager of Thrifty Supplements in Rockford. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, was a life member of American Legion Post 178 and belonged to The Woods Golf Club in Van Wert. She was a longtime member of the Women's International Bowling Conference, where she held many offices, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in World War II. She was a member of the Van Wert Bowlers Hall of Fame, was an avid bowler and golfer and attended Drake University before leaving to serve her country.
Survivors include a nephew, Harry (Ginger) Athas of Eldora, Iowa; a great-niece, Christi Athas, and a special friend, Greg Larsen of Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 22, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a prayer service will be held at 7:45 that evening.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

REINEMEYER
Paul F. Reinemeyer, 89, of Bradenton, Fla., and formerly of Delphos, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2004, at Heritage Park Care & Rehabilitation in Bradenton.
He was born October 10, 1914, in Delphos, the son of the late Fred and Philomena (Brinkman) Reinemeyer. On June 11, 1936, he married Catherine Mary Beckman, who died August 15, 2000.
Mr. Reinemeyer was a retired Certified Public Accountant and part owner of Reinemeyer & Reinemeyer. He was a member of St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos, the Knights of Columbus and Delphos Club.
Survivors include a son, Jack (Sue) Reinemeyer of Bradenton; four daughters, Ann (Harry) Lewis of Mayfield Heights, Ruth (James) Staup and Betty Reinemeyer, both of Dayton, and Jean (Emerson) Burke of Tipp City; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 17, at St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 16, at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:45 that evening.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Delphos St. John's High School.

LEE
Glen Alfred Lee, 94, formerly of Convoy, died at 6:12 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2004, at Haven of Help Adult Care in Van Wert.
He was born September 19, 1909, in Benton Township, Paulding County, the son of the late Steven N. and Delta (Anspaugh) Lee. On May 26, 1933, he married Gladys Ivalou Hunter, who died July 2, 2000.
Mr. Lee retired from Wayne Pump in Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1973 after 38 years as a welder. He attended church at the United Brethren in Christ Church in Fairview, then later at Convoy United Brethren in Christ Church, where he served 13 years as superintendent, also chairman of the trustees for four years and a board member for many years. He was also janitor at both churches for approximately 15 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole (Garry) Peck of Redmond, Wash., and Arlene Roberson of Dayton; three grandchildren, Doug Peck of Bothell, Wash., Kim A. Hammon of Haines City, Fla., and Kelly Laukhuf of Ohio City, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence "Bill" Lee and a brother who died in infancy, and two sisters, Dorothy M. Death and Florence E. Lee.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Rev. Robert Shook officiating. Burial will be in Blue Creek Cemetery in Scott.
Calling hours are an hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Lee to the American Heart Association.

SMITH
Clarence L. Smith, 100, formerly of 943 Haley St., Van Wert, died at 7:40 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
He was born June 17, 1903, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Harvey Claude and Nellie V. (Sevens) Smith. On June 30, 1945, he married Betty Jane Margaret Barnes, who died February 11, 1986.
Mr. Smith owned and operated Van Wert Washer and Dryer Service for many years and was a bus driver for Lincolnview Local Schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the cavalry during the Mexican conflict.
Survivors include a son, Larry A. (Vicki) Smith of Elgin; two daughters, Beverly (Larry) Nighswander and Darlene (Mark) Fisher, both of Van Wert; a sister, Helen Heath of Washington state; eight grandchildren, Marcia (Michael) Kalline and Holly (Tim) DeZorzi, Amanda Smith and Nicole Smith, Valerie Riggs, Laurie (Bill) Miller, Kevin (Joan) Fisher and Darren Riggs, and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, George S. Smith, Merlin H. Smith, Bernard Smith and Kenneth Smith, who just died December 31, 2003, and a sister, Eva Hallowell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Rev. Neil Hammons of Trinity Friends Church officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hoaglin Township.
Calling hours are from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Smith to Community Health Professionals or Gideons International.

SAYLOR
Mary Saylor, 88, of Paulding, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, January 18, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Payne.
She was born October 1, 1915, in Harlan County, Ky., the daughter of the late Harvey and Sally (Howard) Edds. On February 17, 1934, she married Arthur Saylor, who died in 1994.
Mrs. Saylor was a member of Convoy Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Lennis Saylor, Leman Saylor and Dennis Saylor, all of Payne; three daughters, Lois (Don) Greninger of Payne, Vivian (Duane) Copsey of Iola, Kan., and June (Karl) Bredemyer of Fort Wayne, Ind.; five brothers; four sisters, 18 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers; three sisters; a grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, at Payne Church of the Nazarene, the Rev. Terry Brock, Rev. Bud Wall and Rev. Michael Harper officiating. Burial will be in Wiltsie Cemetery in Payne.
Calling hours are after 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, at Slade Funeral Home in Payne.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Paulding County Hospital Home Care Services.
