CARMEAN
Lennie Alice (King) Carmean, 98, of Delphos, died at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, November 7, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos
She was born February 9, 1906, in Evansville, Ind., the daughter of the late William John and Alice L. (Landpher) King.
Ms. Carmean was employed at the Silver Star Bakery in Lima and the Lima Public Library, where she worked 17 years. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Delphos.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Gallo of Toledo; two grandchildren, Nancy (Carl) Whitaker and Don Gallo, and two great-grandchildren, Bernadette and Kristofer Gallo, and their mother, Teresa Gallo. In Delphos her loving and devoted family of niece Margaret Adams, great-nieces Karen (Joe) Ulm and Judy (Carroll) Williams, great-nephew Jack Adams and many great-great nieces and nephews will mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Carmean; one daughter, Normadean Carmean; a brother, Otto King, and one sister, Leona Baker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, at First Assembly of God Church in Delphos, with the Rev. Dan Eaton officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Crypt.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Assembly of God Church in Delphos of the Lima Public Library.

CRUM
Marcella Jean (Rogers) Crum, 79, of Bradenton, Fla., and formerly of Venedocia and Grover Hill, died Sunday, November 7, 2004, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton following a short illness.
She was born June 16, 1925, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Espy and Mary (Tomlinson) Rogers. She was married to Donald Richards, who survives in Venedocia, for 33 years. In 1982, she married Ned Crum of Fort Wayne, Ind., who passed away in May 2004.
Mrs. Crum was a homemaker, but also worked at Balyeat's Coffee Shop, McCoy Flowers, National Seal and Harvey Equipment, all in Van Wert. She was a member of the Mendon Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, was a 1944 graduate of Van Wert High School, a member of Salem Presbyterian Church in Venedocia, Bethel United Methodist Church in rural Van Wert and Oneco United Methodist Church of Bradenton.
Also surviving are four children, Ronald D. (Anita) Richards of Venedocia, Sandra K. (Larry) Caffro of Maumee, Randy (Peggy) Richards of Marion, Ind., and Mary Jo (Jim) Miller of Grover Hill; two stepchildren, Tom (Sandy) Crum of Lodi, Wis., and Pam (Robert) Reynolds of Lynchburg, Va.; one sister, Faith Osborn of Naples, Fla.; a brother, Wayne Rogers of Pioneer; eight grandchildren, Ryan A. (Danielle) Richards and Janelle Richards, both of Marion, Ind., Tami Caffro and Kalyn Miller, both of Archbold, Greg Richards of Ohio City, Kerby Miller and Dustin Miller, both of Grover Hill, Steve Richards of Columbus and Stacie and Shellie Rhoades of Venedocia; three great-grandchildren, Zoe Addison and Eva Caroline-Richards, both of Marion, Ind., and Adian Rice of Ohio City; nine stepgrandchildren, Tom, Tonya, Terri and Tim Crum of Lodi, Wis., and Jamie, Ashley, Brock, Eric and Alex Reynolds of Lynchburg, Va.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Doyt Rogers, and two grandchildren, J.C. Caffro and Paislie R. Dickinson Miller.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 12, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Mary Ann Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Calling hours are from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, November 11, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church on rural Van Wert or Golf Lake Estate Association in Bradenton, Fla.

LONGWELL
Virginia L. Longwell, 81, of Van Wert, died at 5:10 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
She was born October 14, 1922, in Monroeville, Ind., the daughter of the late Allen and Frances (Draper) Adams. On August 31, 1945, she married Walter R. Longwell, who died October 2, 1991.
Mrs. Longwell was a homemaker and attended Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 5803 and a member of American Legion Auxiliary 178, both in Van Wert.
Survivors include a son, Larry (Wanda) Longwell of Van Wert; one daughter, Carol (Kim) Army of Van Wert; a sister, Juanita Cress of Decatur, Ind.; six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Longwell; one daughter, Juanita Longwell; five brothers; two sisters, and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 4, at Woodland Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
Arrangements were handled by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert.

KLINE
Fannie V. Kline, 84, of Westerville and formerly of the Glenmore area, died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville.
She was born January 5, 1920, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late John B. and Clarkie L. (Putman) Krick. In June 1940 she married Delbert Carl Kline, who died April 27, 1982.
Survivors include a son, Vernon (Faye) Kline of Sunbury; one daughter, Johanna (Herbert) Kitchen of Powell; a brother, Thomas Krick of California; three sisters, Billie Davis of Venedocia, Nedra Distler of California and Marjorie of Lima; two grandchildren, Tamela Roach and Tara Johnson; two stepgrandchildren, Tony Calandrino and Jackie Kaltenbach; two great-grandchildren, Trinity and Grace Roach, and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Keiran Roach.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, October 15, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Calling hours are noon-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

AXE
Anna M. Axe, 84, of Van Wert, died at 1:38 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
She was born March 22, 1920, in Fort Loramie, the daughter of the late Sylvan and Hilda (Fark) Griner. On February 10, 1940, she married Francis J. Axe, who died in 1968.
Mrs. Axe was a retired cook for Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert.
Survivors include four sons, Jerome (Beth) Axe of Holland (Ohio), William (Judy) Axe of Rockford, Ill., James E. (Alana) Axe of Bentonville, Ark., and Joseph (Libby) Axe of Blaine, Minn.; two daughters, Jackie (Larnce) Hamby of Oliver Springs, Tenn., and Marilyn (Tom) Parks of Ohio City; a brother, Rollie Griner of Tampa, Fla.; 18 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Ida Griner; two brothers, and one sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday, October 18, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a wake prayer service will be held at 7:45 that evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to Van Wert County Council on Aging or Community Health Professionals-Hospice.

HITCHCOCK
Frank Hitchcock, 82, of Van Wert, died at 11:50 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2004, at Hearth & Home Assisted Living in Van Wert.
He was born August 2, 1922, in Washington Township in Van Wert County, the son of the late Roy Clifford and Laura Dell (Adam) Hitchcock. On March 11, 1946, in Yuma, Ariz., he married Juanema McElhannon, who survives.
Mr. Hitchcock owned and operated Progressive Tool & Die Company in Delphos and retired in November 1993. He was co-founder and president of Van Wert Machine Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Van Wert and was a charter member in establishing Faith Baptist Church in Van Wert in 1959, and served as deacon, teacher and Sunday School superintendent. He was a 1940 graduate of Middle Point High School. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dwight E. (Debra) Hitchcock of Van Wert and Paul A. (Beth) Hitchcock of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; two daughters, Laura L. (Joseph) Williams of Marysville and Darragh Jean (Jon) Geist of West Minster, S.C.; a sister, Mary Bauer of rural Van Wert; 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, J. Gareth, Arthur A. and Victor Ulysses Hitchcock, and a sister, Rosella Ringwald.
A military honors funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, at First Baptist Church in Van Wert, with Pastor Steve A. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Ridge Township.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 18, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church and Gideon's International.

RENNER
Helen A. Renner, 55, of Landeck, died Monday, October 25, 2004, at her residence.
She was born August 11, 1949, in Cloverdale, the daughter of the late Ben and Donelda (Dickman) Horstman. On June 5, 1971, she married Norbert Renner, who survives in Landeck.
Mrs. Renner was a homemaker, a cook at Delphos Jefferson Middle School and worked at Delphos Public Library. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck, was a member of the Altar Rosary Society of the church, sang in the church choir and served as a cantor. She was a 1967 graduate of Ottoville High School. She enjoyed and lived for her family, grandchildren and her work at school.
In addition to her husband, she was survived by three sons, Chris (Angie) Renner of Lima, Glen (Stephanie) Renner of Delphos and Bruce Renner of Landeck; three daughters, Brenda (Shane) Gallmeier of Delphos, Lisa (Eric) Kerner of Troy and Julie (Brad Hammer) Renner of Landeck; four sisters, Janet (Walter) Maag of Leipsic, Pat (Art) Rode of Landeck, Joan (Carl) Lehman of Miller City and Ruth (Ron) Foppe of Kalida; five brothers, Don (Eileen) Horstman of Michigan and Jerome (Emma) Horstman, Larry (Judy) Horstman, Lenny (Mary) Horstman and Denny (Chris) Horstman, all of Cloverdale, and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 28, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck, with Father John Fleck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Calling hours are 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, and 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, at Harter & Schier Memorial Chapel in Delphos, where a wake service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Psychological Association, Delphos Area Visiting Nurses-Hospice or American Cancer Society.
