MILLER
Helen F. Miller, 93, formerly of Convoy, died at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004, at Otterbein-St. Marys Retirement Community in St. Marys.
She was born April 10, 1911, in Carlock, Ill., the daughter of the late Emanuel and Rosina (Schultz) Guingrich. On January 1, 1930, she married Roy A. Sinn, who died January 11, 1970. On September 2, 1972, she married Van Miller, who died December 8, 1991.
Mrs. Miller grew up in Carlock, Ill., and Latty. She was a partner in several businesses, which included a Tipton grocery store, farming, a farm implement store and several laundromats. She was a member of the Convoy Grange and a faithful and active member of Convoy United Methodist Church. She was an intentional, decisive person who cared very much for family and friends. She will be greatly missed by a large family and a host of friends in Paulding County, Convoy at at Otterbein-St. Marys Retirement Community.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy (William) McOmber of St. Marys, Nancy (Dan) May of Hanover, Mich., and Karen Bayer of Sun City Center, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Janet (Ralph) Gibson of Auburn, Ind., and June (Art) Krauss of Hoagland, Ind.; a stepson, Norman (Arline) Miller of Convoy; a son-in-law, Bernard (Maxine) Fultz of Pomeroy; one brother, Robert Guingrich of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Lucille Laukhuf Shealey of Payne; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren, and numerous stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty, who died March 10, 1996; four brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, at Convoy United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gregory Leigh officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Tully Township.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund of Otterbein-St. Marys Retirement Community or Convoy United Methodist Church.

STERRETT
Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Sterrett, 92, of Van Wert, died at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, September 30, 2004, at the home of her son in Van Wert.
She was born August 31, 1912, in Lima, the daughter of the late Thomas and Lena (Gehm) Schulz. On September 25, 1930, she married Bernard A. "Bernie" Sterrett, who died November 26, 1986.
Mrs. Sterrett was a longtime employee of the Van Wert License Bureau and worked with her husband at Sterrett's Home Equipment. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert and the Van Wert Order of Eastern Star chapter.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat (Ollie) Kay of Las Vegas, Nev.; one son, Robert (Dorothy) Sterrett of Van Wert; a brother, Richard Schulz of West Virginia; five grandchildren, John Kay and Paula Kay of Las Vegas and Kathy Beining, Vicki (Rich Reed) Ferren and Tim Sterrett, all of Van Wert, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Hennesy.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 2, at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, the Rev. Tom Shobe and Rev. Bill Kelly officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Health Professionals Hospice in Van Wert.

GEISMAN
Iva Harriet "Ivy" Geisman, 87, of Horton, Mich., and formerly of Van Wert, died Saturday, September 4, 2004, at Spring Harbor Assisted Living in Spring Arbor, Mich.
She was born January 1, 1917, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Thomas and Caroline (Pritchard) Brotherwood. On September 13, 1932, she married Carl R. Geisman, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Geisman worked at the National Seal Division of Federal-Mogul Corporation in Van Wert and also at Vancrest Nursing Home in Van Wert before retiring to Horton in 1988. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert.
Survivors include two sons, Richard E. (Gemma) Geisman of Sebastion, Fla., and James L. (Mary) Geisman of Horton; a sister, Mary Kowalewicz of Dearborn, Mich.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers; a sister, and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, at Horton Congregational Church, with the Rev. James C. Mann officiating. A graveside memorial service will be held in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert at 1 p.m. on September 18.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 6, at the Kurtz-Towns Funeral Home in Hanover, Mich.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Horton Congregational Church or a charity of donor's choice.

KOHLER
Clarence R. Kohler, 81, of Delphos and formerly of New Bremen, died at 4:25 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.
He was born March 30, 1923, in St. Marys, the son of the late Andrew and Maud (Caldwell) Kohler. He married Dorothy Cross Diltz, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Kohler was an electrician at Minster Machine Company. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and enjoyed fishing, hunting, Bingo and traveling and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William (Virginia) Kohler of Middle Point and James (Kumcha) Kohler Sr. of Copperas Cove, Texas; three daughters, Phyllis Naill of Baltimore, Md., Marie Maier of Delphos and Irene Sprowl of St. Marys; two sisters, Betty Weaver and Barbra Brubaker, both of St. Marys; three brothers, Charles (Beth) Kohler of Wapakoneta, Bob (Bonnie) Kohler of Spencerville and Roy (Stella) Kohler of St. Marys; four stepchildren, Janette (Ron) Moreo, Etta Bell (Richard) Culp and Elaine Rose (Rick) Moore, all of Delphos, and Retha (Harold) Cox of Middle Point; many grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Clarence R. Kohler Jr.; a former wife, Faye H. Kohler, who died in 1985, and three sisters, Mildred, Ethel and Mary.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, with the Rev. Wayne Prater officiating. Burial will be in German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen, with military graveside rites performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7672 and American Legion Post 191 of Spencerville.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, and Wednesday, from noon-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the grandchildren.

McCANN
James A. McCann, 57, of Delphos, died at 4:42 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at his residence.
He was born April 25, 1947, in North Carolina. On October 18, 1996, he married Sandy Coy, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. McCann was a previous owner of Schutte's Lamp Supply. He was a member of Delphos Wesleyan Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Dennis (Angie) McCann of Lakeland, Fla., Gregory (Nichole) McCann of Winter Haven, Fla., David (Sarah) Wagner Jr. of Delphos and Mathew Wagner of Ottawa; two daughter, Michelle (Bill) Farler of Delphos and Mary (John) Sinsel of Philippi, W.Va.; a brother, Fred McCann of North Carolina, and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Corey James McCann.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, September 24, at Harter & Schier Memorial Chapel in Delphos, with Pastor Wayne Prater and the Rev. Mark Baliff officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are 6-9 p.m. Thursday, September 23, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

WILLIAMSON
Jimmy L. Williamson, 55, of Ottoville and formerly of Van Wert, died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born November 16, 1948, in Van Wert, the son of Virginia (Anderson) Williamson and the late Delbert L. Williamson.
Mr. Williamson retired from Teleflex Inc. with 20 years of service. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army for 18 months, and a 1968 graduate of Van Wert High School. He was a former member of the Ottoville Veterans of Foreign Wars post.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Sonya, of Ottoville; a sister, Nancy (Doyle) Whitaker of Scott; an uncle, Wilbur (Lois) Williamson of Cavett; a special friend, Kathy Wood of Ostrander; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert is in charge of arrangements.

HARTWIG
Mary E. Hartwig, 78, of Paulding, died at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at Hawthorn Court nursing home in Paulding.
She was born April 6, 1926, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late Erna M. and Lula R. (Smith) Doster. On April 24, 1945, she married James Richard Hartwig, who died May 8, 1976.
Mrs. Hartwig was a homemaker and member of St. John Lutheran Church in Briceton, where she also belonged to the ELCA Lutheran Women Association. She was also a member of the Paulding County Hospital Auxiliary and a 4-H leader for the Latty "Homemakers and Gents." She was a former chairman of the Paulding County Crippled Children's Association and a former chairman for the Paulding County Heart Association. She was a member of the Wednesday Night Bowling League and Paulding County Women's Bowling Association.
Survivors include three daughters, Lula May (Rex) Ankney of Paulding, Linda (Leonard) Windom of Maumee and Laura (Tom) Hixon of Perrysburg; a son, James (Hope) Hartwig of Payne; one brother, Arthur Doster of Scott; two sisters, Methel Densmore of Melrose and Ethel Sutton of Toledo; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Vadis and Ira Doster.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 10, at St. John Lutheran Church in Briceton, with Pastor Joseph Allen officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Paulding.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Thursday, September 9, at DenHerder Funeral Home in Paulding and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or Paulding County Visiting Nurses-Hospice.
