ULREY-THATCHER
Evelyn P. Ulrey-Thatcher, 77, of 615 Leeson Ave., Van Wert, died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
She was born May 14, 1927, in New Knoxville, the daughter of the late Edward and Sarah (Steinecker) Kipp. On November 4, 1948, she married Lloyd Ulrey, who died February 4, 1993. On April 29, 1994, she married Charles F. Thatcher, who survives at home.
Mrs. Ulrey-Thatcher retired from Kennedy Manufacturing in 1992 with 17 years of service; she had also been employed at Federal-Mogul Corporation in Van Wert. She was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church in rural Van Wert.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by six sons, Dean (Sandra) Ulrey of Rockford, Eddie (Susan) Ulrey, Lyle (Terri) Ulrey and Jan Ulrey, all of Van Wert, Rocky (Susan) Ulrey of Sylvania and Renard Ulrey of Ft. Collins, Colo.; two daughters, Julie (Thomas) Miller of Van Wert and Doreen (Jeff) Krugh of Ohio City; stepchildren Dave (Janice) Thatcher and Ben (Deb) Thatcher, both of Van Wert, Connie (Gayle) Klinger of Convoy; Nancy (Dan) Frantom of Haines City, Fla., Jeanette Leon of Fort Wayne, Ind., Barbara Varner of Laurens, S.C., Joe Ulrey of Clinton, Ark., Larry Ulrey of Fort Wayne, Ronald Ulrey of Crown Point, Ind., and Lamar Ulrey of Florida; a sister, Dorothea Wierwille of New Knoxville; 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Ulrey; one stepson, Robert Ulrey; two brothers, Alfred and Adrian Kipp, and a sister, Delores Fischbach.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Calling hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, February 18, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Edison Center in Van Wert.

FOCHT
Ardella M. Focht, 78, of Van Wert, died at 11:28 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2005, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
She was born August 28, 1926, in Ashland, the daughter of the late Walter A. and Elmina (Shopbell) Andrews. She married Leo R. Focht, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Focht retired from Federal-Mogul Corporation's National Seal plant in Van Wert after more than 30 years of service. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Van Wert and belonged to the Veterans of Foreign War and Fraternal Order of Eagles auxiliaries in Van Wert.
Survivors include two sons, Delphos Allenbaugh of Texas and L. Adrian (Mona) Allenbaugh of Van Wert; two daughters, Cynthia Ann (Ed) Grell of Las Vegas, Nev., and Elrhea Mae (Paul) Bigham of Van Wert; two half-brothers, Jerry Andrews of Newark and Terry Andrews of South Carolina; a half-sister, Karren (Ed) Borders of Heath; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Douglas Stockton officiating. Cremation will follow the service and burial will be held at a later date.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

HOGAN
Michael R. Hogan, 47, of Van Wert, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, February 20, 2005, at his residence.
He was born June 28, 1957, in Hogansville, Ga., the son of Grady B. Hogan and the late Evelyn Louise (Turner) Hogan.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a loving companion, Lynae Frasier of Paulding; three daughters, Lora (Jason) Lopez of Van Wert, Christy (Roy) Denson of Beverly Hills, Fla., and Shaina Hogan of Homosassa, Fla.; two stepsons, Craig Garkus of Beverly Hills, Fla., and Christopher Garkus of Hicksville; six brothers, Roger (Kimberly) Hogan of Paulding, and Anthony, Bob, Ronald, Scott and Tony Hogan; three sisters, Genale Stanley, Teressa Hogan and Elaine Hogan, and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Hogan.
Funeral services will be held in Florida at a later date.
There will be no visitation.

VASQUEZ
Elizabeth J. Vasquez, 46, of Delphos, died Sunday, February 20, 2005, at her residence.
She was born May 14, 1958, in Lima, the daughter of Carl and Phyllis J. Nance. She married Adolfo "Doc" Vasquez, who survives in Delphos.
Mrs. Vasquez was a homemaker.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 25, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Delphos, with the Rev. Ron Lumm officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos was in charge of arrangements.

LAEMMLE
Elmer A. Laemmle, 86, of Van Wert, died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born June 27, 1918, in Van Wert, the son of the late Gottlob and Pauline (Seibold) Laemmle. In 1938, he married Lela Mae Farr, who survives.
Mr. Laemmle followed in his father's footsteps and became a successful farmer in Van Wert County. He retired from farming in 1981, but continued to enjoy involvement in the farm with his brother, Karl. The William Rager family, who in addition to being wonderful neighbors, have managed his farm since he retired. He attended Union Township School and was active in his community, both in Van Wert and in Lantana, Fla. In Lantana, his and his wife were active in the American German Club. While in Lantana, he also supervised workers and helped with retail sales at Mecca Farms. He was an avid bowler and basketball player, having played semi-pro basketball when he was younger. He was active in the Van Wert County 4-H program and Ohio Farm Bureau, was a past president of Scott Lions Club, a past president of the Woodland Cemetery Board of Trustees and was a Pleasant Township trustee for 18 years. He and his wife, Lela, traveled extensively abroad, particularly in Germany.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Paul (Donna) Laemmle of Cape Cod, Mass.; one daughter, Karen (Ric) Talford of Naples, Fla.; a brother, Karl Laemmle of Van Wert; two sisters, Clara Bebout of Van Wert and Elsie (Searle) Taylor of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Holly LeBart, Laura Meehan, Paul Laemmle, Tami Nicola, Sasha Remland, and six great-grandchildren, Louis and Nicholas LeBart, Samantha and Maxwell Meehan and Leon and Ruby Rose Laemmle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 7, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. W. Clark Williman officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 6, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

VAN ETTEN
Thomas D. Van Etten Jr., 87, of Van Wert, died at 8:15 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2005, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born October 27, 1917, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the son of the late Thomas D. and Mary T. (Thompson) Van Etten. On October 2, 1949, he married Mary E. Meier, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Van Etten worked for Standard Oil Company in Lima for many years and then worked for several local laundries. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert and the Sidney American Legion post.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Kraig) Shafer of Cairo; a stepson, Thomas (Trudy) Webster of Van Wert; one stepdaughter, Sharon (Walter) Poling of Van Wert; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Turley and Margaret Van Etten.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 9, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Rich Rakay officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with military graveside rites performed by the combined honor units of Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, at the funeral home.

SINN
John R. Sinn, 78, of Ohio City, died at 3:09 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born October 12, 1926, in Paulding County, the son of the late John C. and Josephine M. (Shaw) Sinn. On March 8, 1947, he married Thelma G. Eddy, who survives.
Mr. Sinn was a truck driver for 26 years and was a co-owner of Sinn Sharpening. He was a member of Convoy United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II and was a member of the Convoy American Legion Post and the Decatur, Ind., Moose Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, David V. (Deanna) Sinn of Decatur, Ind., Bruce (Vickie) Sinn of Worthington and Brian (Brenda) Sinn of Convoy; a daughter, Beth (Terry) Fackler of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one sister, Helen Treece of Paulding; 14 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Heath and Kate Craft, and a granddaughter, Danielle Sinn.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Convoy United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Greg Leigh officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at Gearhart, Mack & Jurczyk Funeral Home in Convoy and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wren EMS squad.
