CARL E. "BUD" MILLER
December 20, 1956 - June 12, 2004
47, of Middle Point, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2004, at his residence. He was born December 20, 1956, in Van Wert, the son of the late Carl R. and Jacqueline (Bayles) Miller. On September 18, 1976, he married Kay L. Felger, who survives at home.
Mr. Miller was a self-employed clockmaker and cab driver. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 886 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Middle Point Amvets chapter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Carl Benjamin "Ben" (Nikki) Miller of Bend, Ore. and Ian Geoffrey Miller and Zachary Ernest Miller, both at home; a sister, Kellyn Anne Miller of Soquel, Calif., and one brother, Stuart Reid (Jennifer) Miller of Fort Wayne, Ind.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery, with military graveside rites performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 and American Legion Post 178, both in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the funeral home.

Bruce Sandel
April 03, 1948 - May 17, 2003
55, of Convoy Ohio, died at 10:305 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, at his residence. He was born April 03, 1948, in Mansfield, Ohio., the son of the late Robert Sandel and Louise (Collins) Sandel, who survives in Van Wert Ohio. On March 08, 1976 he married, Linda (Greenway) Sandel who survives in Convoy. Mr. Sandel was a Surveyor, and a Army Veteran having served during the Era of the Vietnam Conflict. Survivors include his wife, four daughters, Heather Sandel of Van Wert Ohio, Nicole Wells of Statesboro Georgia, Kelly Sandel of Mansfield Ohio, Kim Wegal of Columbus Ohio, one son, Nathan Sandel of Statesboro, Georgia, one brother, Dennis Sandel of Convoy Ohio, one sister, Linda Stoddard of Van Wert Ohio, and ten grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at Brickner Funeral Home, the Rev. Michael W. Saylor officiating. Calling hours are Monday, May 19, 2003 at the Funeral Home from 4-8, and Tuesday, May 20, 2003 9am till time of service.

Carma Joan Wermer
June 08, 1927 - September 06, 2004
77, of Convoy, died at 7:25 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born June 8, 1927, in Scott, the daughter of the late Clifford H. and Lata L. (Thompson) Marshall. On May 10, 1947, she married Byron B. Wermer, who died January 7, 1995. Mrs. Wermer was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She was an election poll worker for many years and enjoyed gardening, going to the lake and fishing. She was a proud and loving grandmother.
Survivors include three sons, Randall B. Wermer and Jeffery J. (Lori) Wermer, both of Convoy, and Jerald G. (Jill) Wermer of Van Wert; two daughters, Joan K. (Ray) Kiehl and Janice F. Wermer, both of Convoy; a brother, Bill (Rosemary) Marshall of Dana Point, Calif.; two sisters, Marvelene Hughes of Dover, Fla., and Judith Propper of Diamondhead, Mass.; five grandchildren, Alan Kiehl, Andrew Wermer, Kelsy Wermer, Ryann Wermer and Reed Wermer, and a great-grandchild, Brady Kiehl.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Marshall, and a granddaughter, Lindsay Wermer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 9, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Kenyon Kaehr officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 4-9 p.m. Thursday, September 8, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Health Professionals-Hospice & Day Care.

CAROLINE D. HERTEL
May 21, 1931 - October 12, 2003
72, of Van Wert, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2003, at residence in Van Wert. She was born May 21, 1931, in Paulding, Ohio, the daughter, of the late George and Opal (Ansley) Brown. She married Wallace H. Hertel on April 23, 1948, who died in January 09, 1986. Mrs. Hertel retired from the J.C. Penny Company after 36 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, Volunteer with the Van Wert Chapter of the American Red Cross, American Legion Aux. 178 of Van Wert, Charter Member of the Van Wert Chapter of the Red Hat Club. She is survived by one son, Gary L. (Lori) Hertel of Van Wert, two daughters, Deb (Rob) Adams of Van Wert and Pamm (Roger) Kill of Venedocia, Ohio, Grandchildren, Eric N. Hertel of Indianapolis, Indiana, Aaron L. Hertel of Van Wert, Rebecca Adams of Van Wert, Elizabeth Adams of Van Wert, Robbie Adams of Van Wert, Frank Kill of Venedocia, Travis Kill of Venedocia, Step-Grandsons, Luke Shaffer and Logan Shaffer both of Van Wert, three Great-Grandchildren, Step-Sister Anne Wells of Van Wert. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Blue Creek Cemetery in Haviland, Ohio. Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 14,2003 at the funeral home, and Wednesday October 15,2003 at First United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mrs. Hertel to the Van Wert Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Charles H. Ringer
September 08, 1913 - May 18, 2002
Charles H. Ringer, 88, of Van Wert, died at 9:05 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002, at 309 South Race Street in Van Wert. He was born September 08, 1913, in Van Wert, the son of the late Charles W. and Mae (Slagle) Ringer. On February 21, 1942, he married Juanita Lial (Druckermiller) Ringer, who survives in Van Wert. Mr. Ringer worked at ITT in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Van Wert, American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert. Mr. Ringer was an Army veteran of WW ll, serving as a Tech. Sgt. In the European Theater of Operations. Survivors include one son, Robert D. Ringer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one daughter, Janet Ringer of Van Wert; four grandchildren, Robert D. Rigner, Jr. of Fort Wayne, IN., Kristine Reville of Fort Wayne, IN., Randy Ringer of Columbus, OH., Michael Ringer of Fort Wayne, IN.; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Reville, Kaitlyn Reville, Danielle Reville, all of Fort Wayne, IN., Brandy Ringer, Brandon Ringer, both of Fort Wayne, IN.. He was preceded in death by one sister, Wava Ringer. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brickner Funeral Home, the Rev. Richard Birk officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, where Military Rites will be given by the combined Honors Unit of American Legion Post 178, Van Wert, and Post 5803 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Van Wert. Calling hours will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21st, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert. Memorial contributions may be made to the Van Wert Community Professionals Visiting Nurses & Hospice.

CHARLES MEDFORD STAGNER
March 12, 1914 - July 07, 2004
90, of Van Wert, died at 8:13 a.m. Wednesday, July 07, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert, Ohio. He was born March 12, 1914, in Cincinnati Ohio, the son of the late Charles and Ollie Stagner. On March 31, 1934, he married Lucille L. (Wilkins) Stagner, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Stagner was a Retired Fireman having been employed by the Wright Paterson Air Force Base Fire Department, he was a member of the First Friends Church of Van Wert and the Wesleyan Holiness Church in Fairborn, Ohio.
He is survived by 1 Son, Rev. Job Medford (Nila) Stagner of Van Wert, OH, 2 Daughters: Charlotte L. Robinette of Englewood, OH, Delores A. (Frank)O'Halloran of Beavercreek, OH,- Sister-in-Law, Clara Stagner of Christianburg, OH,- Grandchildren: Joy Dudley Angela Lynne Hancock, Alicia Waymire, Bruce Long, Carla Alvarez, Ryan O'Halloran,- Great-Grandchildren:Aaron, Andrew, John and Alicia
He was preceded in death by 14 Brothers & Sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 AM Friday, July 9, 2004 at First Friends Church with the Rev. Keith Stuck officiating, followed by another Service at 2:00 PM at Wesleyan Holiness Church in Fairborn. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery, Bryon, Ohio.
Calling hours are at the Funeral Home on Thursday, July 08, 2004 from 6-8 p.m., and on Friday at Wesleyan Holiness Church, Fairborn, Ohio from 1:00 PM to Time of Service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Missions, Bedford, Indiana .

Clarence Cook
September 21, 1916 - August 20, 2002
Clarence Cook, 85, of Haviland, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at the home of his son near Five-Span. He was born September 21, 1916, in Eifort, the son of the late Edward O. and Ada May (Smith) Cook Stroth. On November 3, 1946, he married Christina Leonard, who died December 24, 1998. Mr. Cook worked as a carpenter throughout his life and as a press operator at Federal-Mogul Corp. in Van Wert, retiring from there in 1981. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert, a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II from 1941-45 in the 607th Coast Artillery Battery and was a gun crewman during Pearl Harbor. Survivors include a daughter, Victoria (Nick) Spencer of Oakwood; two sons, Clifford Cook of Haviland and Joseph (Betty) Cook of rural Five-Span; two half-sisters, Wilma Jean Everman of Portsmouth and Marian Frances Stroth of Blackfork; a half-brother, Warren "Buzz" Stroth of Jackson; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Walter E. Stroth; two half-sisters, Anna Lee Rutledge and Betty Lou Powell, and a great-grandson, baby Noah Keller. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Tim Burden officiating. Burial will be in Blue Creek Cemetery near Haviland with military rites conducted by a combined honors unit of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803. Calling hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday and an hour prior to the services Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert.
