GEORGE R. GORMAN
December 04, 1918 - February 03, 2004
85, of Van Wert, died at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert. He was born December 4, 1918, in Van Wert, the son of the late Daniel and Mary B. (Rohr) Gorman. He first married Maxine Burnett on October 5, 1945, and she preceded him in death on May 1, 1985. He then married Esther Price on July 27, 1987, and she survives in Van Wert. Mr. Gorman founded and operated Gorman Electric of Van Wert. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert and was a veteran of World War II, serving in Egypt with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He belonged to American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Gay (Arthur) Thomas of Bellingham, Wash.; one sister, Helen Skerritt of Escondido, Calif.; two brothers, Fred (Helen Jean) Gorman of Ottoville and Morris (Jean) Gorman of Van Wert; a grandson, Chris (Laura) Gorman of Van Wert; one granddaughter, Beth Gorman of Moorpack, Calif., and two great-grandsons, Alex and Nicholas Gorman. He was preceded in death by a son, Tim G. Gorman, and two brothers, Frank and Tom Gorman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 6, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the combined honors unit of the Van Wert Legion and VFW posts. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School in Van Wert, the Van Wert County Historical Society or to a charity of donor's choice.

Glendora M. Baer
July 15, 1920 - March 14, 2003
82 of Convoy,Ohio, formerly of Toledo died Friday morning, March 14, 2003, at Convoy Care Center, Convoy,Ohio. She was born July 15, 1920, in Van Wert County,Ohio, the daughter of Glenn and Annetta E. (Upp) Baer. Survivors include Three Brothers, Robert D. (JoAnne) Baer of Van Wert, Donald K. (Judy) Baer of Convoy, Charles E. (Linda) Baer of Convoy, Five Sisters, Juanita Black of Convoy, Betty (Milo) Wyandt of Van Wert, Bonnie (Earl) Speelman of Van Wert, NaDonna (Ralph) Schumm of Bluffton, Indiana, Jeannette Smith of Bronson, Michigan, a Sister-in-law, Harriet J. Baer of Van Wert, and several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by Two Brothers, Carl D. and Walater E. Baer, One Sister, Anna Kathryn Rase, One Half-Sister, Vera Nortley. She had attended the former Union School in Van Wert County. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2003 at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Middle Point, Ohio. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday March 16, 2003 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to the Donor's Choice.

G. Milford Holland
January 29, 1920 - August 02, 2003
83, of Van Wert, died at 2 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2003, at Lincolnview Way Home in Ridge Township. He was born January 29, 1920, in Van Wert, the son of the late John C. and Rose A. (Berger) Holland. Mr. Holland retired from the former Continental Can Company after 42 years of employment. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, where he had been an usher for many years. He was a 1938 graduate of the former Ridge High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He belonged to American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert. Survivors include a sister, Margaret Holland of Van Wert; seven nephews, James Holland of Van Wert, Lee Holland of Chester, Va., Clifford Holland of Anadale, N.J., Richard Pobjecky of Titusville, Fla., David Pobjecky of Auburndale, Fla., Robert Pobjecky of Winterhaven, Fla., and Thomas Pobjecky of Tallahassee, Fla.; two nieces, Sharon Owens of Marion and Ann Sivills of Winterhaven, Fla., and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Pobjecky, and three brothers, John E. Holland, Harold L. Holland and Richard K. Holland. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, with graveside military services conducted by the combined Honors Unit of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803. Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Holland to a charity of donor's choice.

GOLDIE LORRAINE CARROLL
September 09, 1924 - August 15, 2003
78, of Van Wert, died at 1:40 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2003, at Celina Manor nursing home. She was born September 9, 1924, in Pardee, Va., the daughter of the late Samuel and Virginia Morefield Carroll. Miss Carroll was a devoted animal lover and is survived by her precious cat, "Baby." Other survivors include three stepbrothers, Joseph Morefield of Michigan and Luther Morefield and Glen Morefield, both of Fairborn; three stepsisters, Kathlene Blanton, Belle Carrier and Doris Schaffer, all of Mendota, Va., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a stepfather, Charles Morefield; three brothers, Elmo Carroll, Claude Carroll and Woodrow Carroll, and a sister, Juanita Carroll. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Scott E. Fleming officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert. Calling hours are 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Miss Carroll to Community Health Professionals-Hospice.

GRACE ALMYRA FARLOW-KOZAK
February 23, 1912 - February 04, 2004
91, of Rockford and a former resident of South Bend and Warsaw, Ind., died at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at Colonial Nursing Home in Rockford. She was born February 23, 1912, in South Bend, the daughter of the late George H. and Molly K. (King) Lanphier. She was first married to Claude A. Farlow on June 27, 1934, and he died December 3, 1984. She then married Elmer Kozak on March 5, 1988, and he died September 2, 2001. Mrs. Farlow-Kozak was a graduate of South Bend High School, Chicago School of Nursing and the Chicago School of Music. She played organ and piano at the Calvary Baptist Church in South Bend for 36 years. Survivors include a son, Larry Farlow of Rockford; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Ann Yost and Mary Grace West, and a grandson. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 9, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in South Bend, with Pastor Jack Worth officiating. There will be no visitation.

HARRY E. LESHER
of Van Wert died at 5:49 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert. He was born in Phillipsburg, N.J., the son of the late George and Minnie (Crotsly) Lesher. He married Ruth J. Schaible, who preceded him in death. Mr. Lesher was a retired engineer at the former Continental Can Company. He attended the Church of Christ in Spencerville. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Phillipsburg and was a 32nd Degree Mason who belonged to the Toledo Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Toledo Shrine. Survivors include a son, Richard E. (Barbara) Lesher of Ocala, Fla.; two daughters, Marie R. (Charles) Violet of Spencerville and Jean C. (Gene) Wilson of Van Wert; one sister, Vivian Ruppel of Phillipsburg; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Family graveside rites will be held at a later date at Spencerville Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners' Hospitals. Arrangements were handled by Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.

73, of Zephyrhills, FL., died Wednesday, December 18, 2002, at her Home. She was born December 02, 1929, in Detroit, MI., the daughter of the late, Farris Harkins, and Vera (Langdon) Harkins. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Grace Family Church. She is survived by three sons: David Brown of Zephyrhills, FL., Daniel Brown and his son Joshuah Brown of Monterey, VA., John Brown of West Palm Beach, FL., one daughter: Lois Miller of Britton, MI. and her children Jeff Miller and Jennifer Miller. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Jack E. Brown, and two brothers: Earl and James Harkins.
Services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2002, 10:30 A.M. at Brickner Funeral Home. Calling hours are one hour prior to Services at the Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family, in care of David Brown, 6032 12th Street, Zephyrhills, FL., 33542.
