HELM
Ruth A. Helm, 86, of 7638 Pancake Road, Convoy, died at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at her residence.
She was born April 15, 1917, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late George and Orah (Pancake) Rummel. On September 15, 1938, she married Kenneth W. Helm, who died March 12, 1992.
Mrs. Helm was a homemaker and helped her husband farm. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy and its Fidelities Guild. She was a 1934 graduate of Convoy High School and attended Giffin College in Van Wert. She was also a member of Japonica Garden Club in Convoy and the Convoy Golden Classics.
Survivors include a son, Jerry W. (Catherine Ann) Helm of Convoy; one daughter, Connie Crouch of Gahanna; six grandchildren, Jeff (Lori) Helm of Ohio City, Debra (Brent) Neate of Van Wert, Tina (Wes) Skelton of Convoy, Kim (Lenny) Roberts of Coral Springs, Fla., Renae (Michael) Layer and Rick Crouch, both of Kettering, and 12 great-grandchildren, Damian and Haley Helm, Baylee, Trevor and Dylan Neate, Olivia, Tanner and Leslie Skelton, Caleb and Brett Roberts and Tyler and Madison Layer.
She was preceded in death by a brother, in infancy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy, the Rev. Jan A. Berthinee officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 1-7 p.m. Sunday at Cowan & Son Stainfield Memorial Home, Convoy, and an hour prior to services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mrs. Helm to the Convoy EMS squad, the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Elevator Fund or Van Wert Area Nurses-Hospice.

MILLER
Lester N. Miller, 81, of Mendon, died at 8:50 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2003, at Valley Nursing Home in St. Marys.
He was born December 30, 1921, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Marvin and Maud (Harmon) Miller. He was reared by the late Homer and Pearl Dibert. On June 29, 1946, he married Mary Elizabeth Frahm, who died August 29, 1985.
Mr. Miller was a retired farmer and member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hopewell Township, Mercer County. He was a former member of the Mendon-Union Local Board of Education and was a Union Township trustee.
Survivors include a son, Paul (Sharon) Miller of Mendon; one daughter, Miriam (Kraig) Johns of St. Marys; a brother, Harold W. (Annabelle) Miller of Convoy; one sister, Doris Johnson of Decatur, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Delores Miller of Albion, Ind., and five grandchildren, Stacy, Andrea and Melinda Miller and Adam and Micah Johns.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Miller.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, the Rev. Debra Domeier officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton-Bethel Cemetery in Mendon.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home in Celina and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Miller to the church.

BRENNEMAN
Charlotte J. Brenneman, 72, of Millersburg and formerly of Elida, died at 6:20 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Sunset View Nursing Home in Millersburg.
She was born January 20, 1931, in Allen County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Herschel and Mary (Good) Brenneman. She never married.
Miss Brenneman was a devoted school teacher and Christian and loved children. She was a graduate of Elida High School and Goshen College in Goshen, Ind., with a degree in education.
Survivors include two sisters, Jeanette (Clair) Gossard of Delphos and Joan Thoman of West Liberty; a sister-in-law, Helen Brenneman of Delphos, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Brenneman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pike Mennonite Church, Elida, with Pastor Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Pike Mennonite Cemetery in Elida.
Visitation will be between 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Miss Brenneman to the Mennonite Central Committee.
Funeral arrangements were made by Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos.

WITTUNG
Carl Harland Wittung, 92, of Rockford, died Sunday morning, April 6, 2003, at his residence.
He was born December 23, 1910, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Fred and Fannie May (Shook) Wittung. On August 21, 1937, he married Ida Elizabeth Potts, who died June 18, 1992.
Mr. Wittung lived in the Rockford area all his life and first worked as an auto mechanic in Rockford at Robins & Robins Garage and later at Reynolds & Reynolds in Celina, where he retired after 24 years as a proofreader.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Wittung of Rockford and Carol (James) Wenning of Celina, and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Wittung.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with the Rev. Robert Loar officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

SADLER
Kenneth L. Sadler, 69, of Delphos, died at 11 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2003, at his residence.
He was born February 9, 1934, in Fort Jennings, the son of the late Aurther Eugene and Ida M. (Fischbach) Sadler.
Mr. Sadler was a retired truck driver and owned Sadler Trucking of Fort Jennings. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035, a member of the Delphos American Legion post, Delphos Eagles Aerie 471 and Fort Jennings Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing cards and was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Korean War.
Survivors include a sister, Ida Jean Caron of Coco Beach, Fla., and one brother, James R. Sadler of Delphos.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas, Donald, Wilber and Richard Sadler, and three sisters, Rosemary Duncan, Lucille Liccata and Mildred Wornament.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Jennings, with Father Tony Borgia officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery, with military rites by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Sadler to the American Heart Association.

Daniel R. Krywalski
May 12, 1927 - July 04, 2002
75, of Van Wert, died at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2002, at his residence. He was born May 12, 1927, in Buffalo, N.Y. On Nov. 18, 1983, he married Joannie Hartman, who survives in Van Wert. Mr. Krywalski was a retired employee of Federal-Mogul Corp. in Van Wert. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dan, and a daughter, Pat. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert. Calling hours will be from 2-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and American Heart Association.

SHOOK
Kathryn E. Shook, 87, of 527 S. Franklin St., died at 12:37 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, at her daughter's residence in Van Wert.
She was born March 19, 1916, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Virgil and Gladys (Murphy) Johnson. On January 28, 1939, in Van Wert, she married Loyal W. Shook, who died July 11, 1995.
Mrs. Shook worked at Wilkinson Printing in Van Wert for several years and then worked for 30 years at Van Wert Manufacturing Company.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan (Dwight) Gardner of Van Wert; two grandchildren, Jay (Phyllis) Stephenson and David (Sherry) Stephenson; three great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and four step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Byron Johnson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Robert Shook officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mrs. Shook to Community Health Professionals' Hospice Program.
