SUGARCREEK -- Ralph C. Hershberger, 78, of Sugarcreek, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at his home, following a brief illness.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Shanesville Lutheran Church in Sugarcreek with the Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Sugarcreek. Military graveside services will be by Sugarcreek American Legion Post 494.
Friends may call today (Sunday) from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Masonic services at 5:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shanesville Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 478, Sugarcreek 44681.
He was born Dec. 4, 1921 in Holmes County to Harvey and Lovina (Hochstetler) Hershberger.
Surviving are his wife, Helen (Koma) Hershberger, to whom he was married 50 years; two sons, Tom and his wife, Kathy Hershberger of New Philadelphia and Ollie Hershberger of Sugarcreek; a daughter Ina and her husband, Pete Secret of Clarksburg, W.Va.; three grandchildren and a sister, Sarah Kratzer of Kidron.

David Skelly
WOOSTER -- David Jack Skelly, 76, 3574 Batdorf Road, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home with the Revs. Dale Sanford and Bill Lofgren officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne County Genealogical Society.
He was born May 28, 1924 to Vernon and Effie (Mann) Skelly and married Dorothy Mitchell on Sept. 17, 1955. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children and their spouses, Lori and Jay Hauser of Wooster and Roger and Linda Skelly of Shreve; grandchildren, Michael, Mark, Jayme, Sara, Burt, Lisa, Trent and Taleesa; four great-grandchildren and a brother, V. Robert Skelly of Wooster.

Janell Denton
WOOSTER -- Janell G. Denton, 67, 210 W. Vine St., died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at her home.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home with the Rev. William H. Valentine officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center of Wooster.
She was born July 3, 1933 in Sidney, Ark. to Thomas and Stella (Frazier) Wolford and married Charles E. Blevens. He died in 1966.
Surviving are children, Cathy (Mike) Hill and Betty S. (Robert) Dean, both of West Salem, Charles J. (Sue) Blevens, Gary L. Blevens and Kenny E. Blevens, all of Wooster; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and sisters, Edith Marlin and Robbie Williams, both of Little Rock, Ark. and Beatrice Burton of Avon, Ind.

Vincent Croskey
WILMOT -- Vincent E. Croskey, 88, of Wilmot, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, in Massillon Community Hospital, following a brief illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster with the Revs. Ray Peters and Art Snow officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wilmot.
Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilmot Fire Department, P.O. Box 178, Wilmot 44689 or the Wilmot United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 98, Wilmot 44689.
He was born May 13, 1912 near Layland to Henry and Emily (Teeling) Croskey and married Dulcie M. Williamson on Oct. 28, 1933. She died July 19, 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald Croskey of Wilmot and Myron Croskey of Massillon; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Charles Griffitts
HOMERVILLE -- Charles David Griffitts, 62, of Homerville, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at his home, following a 10-month illness.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi with the Rev. Donald Andreasen officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Homerville.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 23, 1938 in Jewell Ridge, Va. to Joe and Gladys (Hess) Griffitts.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Debra Griffitts of Homerville and Mitchell and Leslie Griffitts of Burbank; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother of West Salem and a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Wilhelmine Griffitts of Sullivan.

Dale Knox
WOOSTER -- Dale M. Knox, 69, 166 Cannon Drive, died Thursday evening, Sept. 21, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a sudden illness.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Apple Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roy Grindstaff officiating. Burial will be at Fredericksburg East Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.

He was born June 23, 1931 in Fredericksburg to Edward and Lena (Harrison) Knox and married Nancy J. Spencer on May 17, 1953. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Brian Potts of Orrville; a granddaughter; two step-grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Nina Knox of Fredericksburg.

Andrew Phillips
RITTMAN -- Andrew T. Phillips, 18, 82 N. State St., died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at MetroHealth Medical Center of Cleveland, from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Wayne County.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church in Rittman with the Rev. Fr. Frank J. Kuta officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gillman Funeral Home.
He was born Aug. 4, 1982 in Barberton and was a life resident of Rittman.
Surviving are his parents, Thomas and Kelly (Vinson) Phillips of Rittman; brothers, Lewis S., Joseph R. and David M. Phillips, all of Rittman; grandparents, Mary B. Phillips of Wadsworth, Judy VanZile of Rittman, and Terry J. Vinson of Norton; and great-grandmother, Thelma Chaney of Wadsworth.

Reva Berg
DALTON -- Reva M. Berg, 80, of Dalton, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at the Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Dalton, following a period of declining health.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton with Pastor Thomas Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Dalton Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour before services on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Lutheran Church Building Fund, 7404 Coal Bank Road, Marshallville 44645.
She was born Feb. 23, 1920 in West Lebanon to Clarence and Nellie (Budd) Saunier and married Willard J. Berg on June 18, 1939. He died Dec. 31, 1973.
Surviving are children and their spouses, Jerry and Mary Ann Berg of Dalton, Diane and Sam Wilson of Marshallville and Karen and Ron Ernest of Beaver Dam; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

S. Juanita Hannahs
SALESVILLE -- S. Juanita Hannahs, 78, of Salesville, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at her home.
Services will be today (Friday) at 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Quaker City with the Rev. Jim Lee officiating. Burial will be at Salesville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Salesville Park Committee.
She was born Oct. 17, 1921 in Barnesville to Dallas and Amy Jane (Shepherd) Kupfer and married Roy Keith Hannahs on July 14, 1941. He died Feb. 11, 1993.
Surviving are her children Sue (Lashley) Landon and Harry Hannahs, both of Killbuck, Jim Hannahs of the home, Ron (Rose) Hannahs of Barnesville, Pam Poole of Frisco, Texas, Danny "Jeff" Hannahs of the home, Bill Hannahs and Michael (Cindy) Hannahs, both of Millersburg; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Billy Kupfer and several nieces and nephews.

Ronald Ewing
WOOSTER -- Ronald M. Ewing, 72, 518 Memory Lane, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Sanford officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 5-8 at the funeral home with an Elks Memorial Service at 8 p.m.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Wooster Community Hospital Cardiology Services, in care of Hospital Administration, 1761 Beall Ave., Wooster 44691, in his memory.
He was born April 2, 1928 in Wooster to Charles W. "Bill" and Hilda (McCoy) Ewing.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia C. "Ginny" Yund Ewing, to whom he had been married 12 years; children and their spouses, Mark C. and Loralea (Alexander) Ewing of Seville and Jeffery M. and Pamela (Krofts) Ewing of Breckenridge, Colo.; two grandchildren, C. Tyler and Amanda J-M Ewing of Seville; two brothers, D. Terry Ewing of Wooster and Patrick M. Ewing of Ashland and a sister, Koleen Wright of Endicott, N.Y.

Don Funk
HAYESVILLE -- Don E. Funk, 74, of Wintersong Village of Hayesville, died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 20, 2000.
Private graveside services will be held at the Jeromesville Cemetery Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Beryl Baum officiating.
Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville is handling arrangements.
He was born April 28, 1926 in Jeromesville to Paul Z. and Edna (Myers) Funk.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Nancy Funk of Perrysville, Joel and Peg Funk of Martinez, Ga. and Tom and Cindy Funk of Shreve; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Gary Yates of Jeromesville; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two sisters, Alene Aber and Mrs. James (Rosalie) Franks, both of Jeromesville and two brothers, Robert Funk of Jeromesville and Richard Funk of Ashland.

William Creasy III
LYNCHBURG, Va. -- William Alfred Creasy III, 77, of Lynchburg, Va., died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, in Medical Care Center.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg, Va. with Father Brent Carey and the Rev. David Thurman officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight (Friday) from 7-8:30 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
He was born May 30, 1923 in Lynchburg, Va. to William A. Creasy Jr. and Annie (Wayne) Creasy and married Joyce Sisk. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Cynthia C. Hauer of Huntsville, Ala., Celia C. Smart and her husband, James of Wooster; four grandchildren, Margaret Ellen H. Cash, William Stuart Courtney Hauer, James Stirewalt Smart II and Jeffrey Somner Smart and a sister, Faye C. Downey of Big Island.

Clarence Ruprecht
SEVILLE -- Clarence H. Ruprecht, 75, of Seville, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9282 Acme Road, Seville with Pastor Gerald Keller officiating. Burial will be at Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening 2-4 and 7-9 at the church.
Armstrong-Waite Funeral Home, Seville is handling arrangements.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Seville/Guilford Emergency Medical Service or the Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He was born in Westlake.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Louise Ruprecht; sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Marilyn Ruprecht of Butler and Ray and Debbie Ruprecht of Seville; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Cal Rumburg of Seville; grandchildren, Gwen (Gregg) Short, Lyle (Sarah) Ruprecht, Jennifer (Patrick) Urian, Amy Rumburg, Janeen, Faith and Ben Ruprecht; a great-grandson, Carl Evan; brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Betty Ruprecht of Westlake and sister and brother-in-law, Verna and Myron Bremke.

Hugh Smith Jr.
SAN MATEO, Calif. -- Rear Adm. Hugh R. Smith Jr., Ph.D., 79, of San Mateo, Calif., died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, in his laboratory-factory.
He was the brother of Elizabeth Smith of Smithville.
Services were held in California and burial with full military honors was at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, Calif.
He was born in Akron.
Surviving in addition to his sister are daughters, Cheryl Maloney and Diana Smith, sons, Wally and Lewis Smith and six grandchildren, all of California.

Afton Hyre
WOOSTER -- Afton C. Hyre, 83, of Wooster, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at Wayne County Care Center.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Davis & Weaver Funeral Home, Clarksburg, W.Va., with the Rev. Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at 7th Day Baptist Cemetery, Lost Creek, W.Va.
Friends may call Saturday prior to time of services.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling local arrangements.
He was born Jan. 31, 1917, in Lost Creek, W.Va., to Charles and Anna Hyre.
Surviving are children, Clifton (Carol Lee) Hyre of Elkins, W.Va., Jerry (Barbara) Hyre of Stanford, Va., and Barbara (Larry) Swartzentruber of Wooster; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Charlie Kemper (Velma) Hyre, and a sister, Oletha Simons, both of Clarksburg, W.Va.

Victor Stanley
ORRVILLE -- Victor Ray Stanley, 82, formerly of 516 W. Market St., passed away Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Orrville, following a long illness.
Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home, Orrville with the Revs. William Perkins and Eli Troyer officiating. Burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, near Rittman.
Friends may call at the funeral home (tonight) Wednesday from 6-9.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Orrville Area Boys and Girls Club, 820 North Ella Street, Orrville 44667.
He was born June 25, 1918 in Eurbacon, W.Va. He was the second of seven children born to Llewellyn S. and Viola Blanche (Radcliff) Stanley. He was united in marriage to Edna Perkins on October 5, 1951 in Dayton. She survives.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Edna (Perkins) Stanley of Orrville; son and daughter-in-law, Victor L. "Lee" and Teresa Stanley of Orrville; two grandsons, Dave and Jon Stanley of Orrville; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Corrine Stanley of Fredericksburg; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel Deal of Springfield, Lucy (Sam) Wilson of Michigan, Faye (Phil) Hurt of South Bend, Ind.; two half-brothers from his mother's second marriage to Addison Litton, Zara Litton of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Earl Litton of Springfield; 38 nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews and many cousins.

Richard Miller
DUBLIN -- Richard G. Miller, 80, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000 at his home in Dublin. He was a resident of Wooster from 1975 to 1997.
A memorial service, with the Rev. Dale Sanford officiating, will be held in the United Methodist Church of Wooster on Saturday at 3 p.m., followed by a reception in Wesley Hall. Private burial will be at the Wooster Cemetery.
The family suggests that gifts be made in his memory to The College of Wooster, Gault Alumni Center, Wooster 44691 or to the Friendship Village Memorial Fund, 6000 Riverside Drive, Dublin 43017.
He was born July 20, 1920 in Brewster to Clarence E. and Erma (Schott) Miller and married Eileen Thompson on Jan. 3,1942 in Memorial Chapel at The College of Wooster.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen "Mike" Miller; children and their spouses, Sandra and Ronald C. Baldwin of Columbus, and Darby Jo and Donald A. Pocock, M.D. of New Bern, N.C.; four grandchildren; a brother, Merle Miller of Columbus; and a sister, Susan Miller Nelson of Chagrin Falls.

Ronnie Harris
WILLISTON, Fla. -- Ronnie Lee Harris, 50, of Williston, Fla., died suddenly Sunday evening, Sept. 17, 2000, in Williston Hospital, after a long illness resulting from injuries received while serving with the U.S. Army in Vietnam in September 1971.
Services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville , with the Rev. Lloyd Miller officiating. Burial with military services conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home.
Mr. Harris was born Oct. 4, 1949 in Mansfield.
He is survived by his wife, Vicky (Keinath) Harris, whom he married Oct. 4, 1986; and his mother and stepfather, LaDonna and Gene Lemke of Glenmont.

Mary Miller
SHREVE -- Mary M. Miller, 85, of Shreve, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000 at the Wayne County Care Center, following an extended illness.
Services will be Friday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. at Ripley Church of Christ with the Revs. Ted Moore and Rufus Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Ripley Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the church.
Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home, Shreve is handling the arrangements.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Wayne County Care Center, 876 S. Geyers Chapel Road, Wooster 44691.
Mary was born May 31, 1915 near Shreve to Ray and Maude (Everly) Sprang. She married Atlee H. Miller in 1936. He died June 28, 1970.
Surviving are children and their spouses, Larry and Anna Mae Martin and Bob and Sally Miller, all of Shreve, Alice Geib of Wooster and David Miller of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Douglas and David Martin, Renee Geib Spencer, Steven Geib, Fredrick Geib, Troy Miller, Mindy Miller Shamp and Jenny Miller Carr and 14 great-grandchildren.
