MANSFIELD -- Virginia Marie (Hill) Talbott, 80, 501 Esley Lane, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 19, 2000, at her home.
She was born Feb. 5, 1919, in Belington, W.Va.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Robert Talbott; sons and their wives, Stephen "Mickey" and Linda Talbott of Savannah, Tenn., and Bruce and Becky Talbott of Wooster; grandchildren, Sandra Talbott and Dr. James R. Talbott, both of Tennessee, Tracy Talbott Miner and Tara Talbott, both of Wooster.

Roman Slabach
GERMANTOWN, Wis. -- Roman T. Slabach, 17, of Germantown, Wis., formerly of Massillon, died Sunday morning, Jan. 23, 2000, at Community Hospital in Menomonee Falls, Wis.
Services will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon. Private graveside services will be Saturday at Dalton Cemetery.
Friends may call three hours prior to the services at the funeral home.
Surviving are his parents, Chris and Linda Slabach, a brother, Nicolas and a sister, Grace; grandparents, Allen and Etta Slabach of Orrville, and Carl and Cora Crites; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Roman Slabach
GERMANTOWN, Wis. -- Calling hours for Roman T. Slabach, 17, of Germantown, Wis., formerly of Massillon, will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon. Private graveside services will be Saturday at Dalton Cemetery.
There will be no services on Friday at 7 p.m., as was published in a complete obituary that appeared in Tuesday's Daily Record.
He died Sunday morning, Jan. 23, 2000, at Community Hospital in Menomonee Falls, Wis.

Joseph Modic
WOOSTER -- Joseph Thomas Modic, 29, 331 S. Walnut St., died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Memorial services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Mark Davenport officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
He was born June 25, 1970, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Fred A. and Audrey I. (Cross) Modic Sr.
Surviving are children, Ashley Rose Modic, Alicia and Angela Rowland, all of the home; his parents of Peoria, Ariz.; brothers, Michael M. and Patrick Modic, both of Peoria, Ariz., Fred A. Modic Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., and Timothy Modic of Chandler, Ariz.; sisters, Terressa Nix of San Angelo, Texas, and Audrey Ann Kerns of Peoria, Ariz.; and his fiancee, Judy Perrone.

Nina Smith
WEST SALEM -- Nina M. Smith, 94, of West Salem, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Martha Mathatas officiating. Burial will be at West Salem Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, where Eastern Star services will be held at 7:30 p.m.

She was born April 20, 1905, in Ripley, W.Va., to John O. and Susan (Fisher) Harpold and married Wilbur Smith on July 8, 1922. He died in 1980.
Surviving are children and their spouses, Eugene and Eloise Smith of Marion, Susan Morris of Wooster, Billy and Annette Smith of California, and Bobby and Janice Smith of West Salem; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lurlean Hill of Sandyville, W.Va.

KURTIS KREBS
FREDERICKSBURG -- Kurtis Dean Krebs, 9, of Fredericksburg, died Monday morning, Jan. 24, 2000, at his home after a long period of declining health with neuroblastoma cancer.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Southview Grace Brethren Church, with Pastor Larry Edwards officiating. Burial will be at Adario Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. at Van Hove Funeral Home in Ashland.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Neuroblastoma Children's Cancer Society, in care of Children's Hospital of Akron, 1 Perkins Square, Akron 44308.
He was born Aug. 11, 1990, in Cleveland to Kenneth R. and Sherry B. (Glenn) Krebs.
Surviving are his parents of Fredericksburg; a sister, Kassandra Rae of the home; grandparents, Dean and Carolyn Glenn of Butler Township and Ray and Linda Krebs of Streetsboro; and a great-grandmother, Irene Lawrence of Ashland.

Catherine Saal
WADSWORTH -- Catherine M. (Loehr) Saal, 89, of Wadsworth, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Sterling Oaks Assisted Living Center.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Wadsworth United Methodist Church, with the Revs. James D. Foster and Carol A. Cutting officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wadsworth United Methodist Church, 195 Broad St., Wadsworth 44281.
Surviving are children, Ronald Saal and his wife, Jo, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Patricia Goodwin of Wadsworth; grandchildren and their spouses, Steve and Jane Saal, Ken and Joanne Saal, Terry and Andy Wintersteller, Kathy and Garry Bicksler and Ron and Karen Goodwn; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Emma Gardner of Wadsworth.
Her husband, Raymond Saal, died previously.

Thelma Lautenschlager
APPLE CREEK -- Thelma Louise Lautenschlager, 79, 37 Reed St., died Friday morning, Jan. 21, 2000, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville.
Memorial services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 68 W. Main St., Apple Creek, with the Revs. Lowell Gerber and Richard B. Ross officiating.
Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home in Ashland, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 205, Apple Creek 44606.
She was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Beach City to Nevin and Louise D. (Thompson) Bott and married Albert Bruce Lautenschlager on Sept. 4, 1937. He died Nov. 14, 1977.
Surviving are children, Faye Lautenschlager of Apple Creek and Larry Lautenschlager of Ashland; a sister, Martha Meek of Strasburg; and a brother, William Bott of Columbus.

Ruth Milius
NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Ruth A. Milius, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at South Broadway Nursing Home.
She was the mother of Patricia Miller of Wooster.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Naylor Funeral Home in New Philadelphia, with the Rev. Dr. John McFarland and the Rev. Dave Rodweller officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 30, 1924, in Dover to James and Margaret Rose (Ratchford) Shores and married Al Milius. He died July 7, 1987.
Other survivors include a son, Thomas J. Milius of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Amy and Jennifer Miller of Wooster, Amanda Gump of New Philadelphia and Jarron Milius of Denver, Colo.; great-granddaughters, Alexa and Alyssa of New Philadelphia; and a brother, Donald Shores of New Philadelphia.

Ruth Switzer
WELLINGTON -- Ruth M. Switzer, 85, 48827 Bursley Road, formerly of Wooster, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at her home.
Memorial services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Wooster Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, is handling arrangements.
Those who wish may make contributions to Alzheimer's Association, 4805 Munson St., NW, Canton 44718.
She was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Wooster to Herbert D. and Maude I. (Croft) Young and married Howard A. Switzer on July 3, 1941. He died Nov. 28, 1986.
Surviving are children, Tymme A. Switzer of Wellington, with whom she had made her home, Judy Findlay of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Sandy Austin of Wooster; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Gary Yoder
JUNCTION CITY, Kan. -- Gary Jacob Yoder, 55, 826 N. Jackson, formerly of Creston, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Colmery-O'Neil Veterans Administration Medical Center in Topeka, Kan., after a short illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with the Rev. Duane Culler officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be conducted.
Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Wayne County Branch, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Feb. 23, 1944, in Creston, to Jacob P. and Hilda K. (Veney) Yoder and married Ilda "Tillie" Rastorfer on July 29, 1970. She survives.
Other survivors include stepchildren and their spouses, Kenneth and Jeanne Glessner of Sterling, Jennifer Emch of Orrville and Jean and Gary Shook of Wadsworth; four grandchildren; sisters, Norma Lance of Doylestown and Loretta Marty and her husband, Robert, of Sterling; and nieces and nephews.

Jack Miller
STRASBURG -- Jack A. Miller, who had worked as a journalist and in public relations, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000. He was 76-years-old and a native of Strasburg. His family said his death followed a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Tuscarawas County to Jacob A. and Selma K. (Minger) Miller.
Surviving are brothers and their wives, Thomas E. and Wanda Miller of Dover and James D. and Mona Miller of Strasburg; four nieces and three nephews.
In keeping with Jack's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Private family graveside services will be held at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg.
Memorial services will be Monday, Jan. 31, at 4 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg, with the Rev. Dana Keirstead officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Secrest Arboretum, 1680 Madison Ave., Wooster 44691; Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. Third St., Dover 44622; or to any other organization that serves the homeless or terminally ill.

Nathan Alwine
LOUDONVILLE -- Nathan Alwine, 49, 695 S. Mount Vernon Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Jac-Lin Manor.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Scott Funeral Home, Cambridge, where friends may call from 4-7 p.m. The Rev. Robert Merritt will officiate. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City.
Local calling hours will be today (Saturday) from 2-4 and 6-7:30 at Jac-Lin Manor in Loudonville. Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, is handling local arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Loudonville Lions Club Sight First, in care of Norma Taylor, 3147 Township Road, 629, Loudonville 44842.
He was born March 8, 1950, in Barnesville to Sylvan and Mary Anna (Willis) Alwine.
Surviving are a brother, Allen Alwine and his wife, Marlene, of Cambridge; two nieces; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Donald Houser
CAPE COD, Mass. -- Donald E. Houser, 73, of Cape Cod, Mass., formerly of Wooster, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Tobey Hospital in Wareham, Mass.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Falmouth, Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, or the Diabetic and Strokes Association.
He was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Waverly to John Henry and Agnes Catherine (Harris) Houser and married Gloria Messner on June 25, 1950. They had been married for 49 years and she survives.
Other survivors include children, Ron Houser and Holly Kurtz, both of North Carolina, and Rick Houser of Cape Cod, Mass.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters.

Clarence King
ORRVILLE -- Clarence A. "C.A." King, 97, 430 OrrVilla Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Smithville Brethren Church, with the Revs. Paul Sluss and Barbara Lehman officiating. Family burial services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691; Smithville Brethren Church, 241 E. Main St., Smithville 44677; or to a charity of the donors choice.
He was born Nov. 14, 1902, in Orrville to Edwin John and Nora Malinda (Royer) King.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Clark) Schloneger King, whom he married March 31, 1985; children and their spouses, Wayne Emerson and Grace King of Dalton, Marion Roy and Betty King and Carolyn (King) and James Camp, all of Orrville and Corinne (King) and Dex Sedwick of Ashland; stepchildren and their spouses, Lynette (Winkler) and Ben Imhoff, Richard Winkler, Ronald and Pat Schloneger, Wendell Schloneger and Willard and Sue Schloneger; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 20 step-grandchildren; 23 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alvin J. King of Boston, Mass.
His first wife, Gladys Fern (Miller) King, died March 25, 1959. They were married July 1, 1930. His second wife, Irene (Steiner) Winkler, died Aug. 9, 1983. They were married May 14, 1960.

Paul Ramseyer
ORRVILLE -- Paul H. Ramseyer, 85, formerly of 119 Maple St., died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, after a long illness.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Orrville Mennonite Church, with the Revs. Barbara and John Lehman officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
He was born July 31, 1914, in Carlock, Ill., to John E. and L. Mae (Raeder) Ramseyer Sr. and married Faye Mast on Sept. 14, 1940. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Lynn Edward Ramseyer and his wife, Juanita, of Apple Creek and a daughter, Donna Kay Mills of Virginia; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Roy Ramseyer of Marshallville; sisters, Ella Pearl Smucker of Smithville and Mae Smucker of Wooster; and a sister-in-law, Lois Ramseyer of Smithville.

Virginia Gilson
WOOSTER -- Virginia Mae Gilson, 72, 1147 Kimber Road, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Wayne County Care Center.
Memorial services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Moreland United Methodist Church. Burial will be at a later date at Moreland Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster.
Those who wish may make contributions to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster; Moreland United Methodist Church, 138 E. Moreland Road, Wooster 44691; or to Moreland Cemetery Association, 9743 Munson Road, Shreve 44676.
She was born July 24, 1927, in Moreland to Elmer E. and Wilma (Mowrer) Miller and married Willis W. Gilson on July 31, 1948. He survives.
Other survivors include children and their spouses, Warren and Sherry Gilson of Maxeys, Ga., Steve and Debora Gilson and Leslie Carl and Kim Gilson, all of Moreland and Debra and Dwayne Douglas of Apple Creek; grandchildren, Wesley, Heidi, Ryan and Matthew Gilson, Bradley and Eric Douglas and John Gilson; brothers, Ralph Miller of Big Prairie, Roy P. and Donald Miller, both of Wooster; and sisters, Margery Houston, June Weaver, Mrs. Wilson (Wanda) Miller and Mrs. Robert (Janet) Hofer, all of Wooster.

Carolyn Gilson
SHREVE -- Carolyn A. Gilson, 66, 4690 Force Road, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
Memorial services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Wooster Grace Brethren Church, with Pastors Clancy Cruise and George Peters officiating. Family graveside committal services will be Wednesday morning at Oak Grove Cemetery, prior to the services.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve.
The family suggests contributions be made to Grace Brethren Church Music Department, 1924 Burbank Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born April 25, 1933, in Shreve to Ross and Gretchen (Armstrong) Miller and married Roy M. Gilson on April 5, 1953. He survives.
Other survivors include children and grandchildren, Jeff (Julie) Gilson and their children, Erica and Ryan of Wooster, Mark (Julie) Gilson and their children, Kyle, Whitney and Bryant of Shreve and Julie (Rod) Leighty and their children, Ashley, Andrea, Josh and Jonathon of Shreve; her mother of Orrville; and a sister, Pat Lonier and her husband, Jim of Orrville.
