DOYLESTOWN -- Lester LeGrande Root, 78, of Doylestown, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at his home.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Wadsworth United Methodist Church, with the Revs. James D. Foster and Carol Cutting officiating. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wadsworth United Methodist Church Building Fund, 195 Broad St., Wadsworth 44281.
He was born July 28, 1921 in Chatham to Jay and Eva Root, and married Frances Allen on May 29, 1949. She survives.
Other survivors include two great sons, Alan Root and Doug Root and his wife, Diane, all of Doylestown; grandsons, Dan and David, his pride and joy; canine pal, Mitzi; sisters, Lois Notter of Florida, and Wauneta Suter of Pandora; brothers, Gene Root of Spencer and Darl Root of Florida.; a sister-in-law, Mary Root of Arizona; and brothers-in-law, George Barrett of Spencer and Robert Allen of Sandusky.

Richard Orr
RITTMAN -- Richard H. "Rick" Orr, 48, 206 Industrial St., died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with the Rev. F.D. Donaldson officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Wayne County Branch, Wooster Clinic, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691; or to Rittman United Methodist Church, 211 N. Metzger Ave., Rittman 44270.
He was born Dec. 14, 1951 in Norwalk.
Surviving are children, Timothy and Terence Orr, both of Norwich, Conn., Shane Orr of Dallas, Steven Orr of Ohio, and Kimberly Orr of Wadsworth; his father, Fred Orr of Milford Center; a sister, Brenda Elliott of Rittman; and his former wife, Jessica Landrum of Wadsworth.

Gaillard Young
GLENMONT -- Gaillard A. Young, 76, of Glenmont, died Tuesday afternoon, April 11, 2000, at Sunset View Skilled Nursing Facility, Millersburg, after an extended illness.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Nashville Cemetery, with the Rev. Dan Kirtlan officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Killbuck Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7079.
There will be no calling hours. Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, is handling arrangements.
The family suggests contributions be made to Nashville Cemetery Association, in care of Elda Messner, 220 E. Marion St., P.O. Box 353, Nashville 44661.
He was born Nov. 12, 1923 in Holmes County to Lester and Dora (Beck) Young and married Marjorie Banbury on March 25, 1950. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Shawn A. Young of Glenmont; grandsons, Nathan and Corey Young; brothers, Wayne Young of Nashville and James Young of Goleta, Calif.; and a sister, Dorothy Young of Santa Barbara, Calif.

Thelma Reed
ASHLAND -- Thelma Arlene Reed, 78, 1362 U.S. Route 42, died Monday evening, April 10, 2000, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Robert Hall officiating. Burial will be at Mansfield Memorial Park.
Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Van Hove Funeral Home in Ashland.
She was born Sept. 27, 1921 in Holmes County to Foster and Fern (Smail) Stinebring and married Donald LeRoy Reed on May 11, 1940. He survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Cynthia Hicks and her husband, Garry, of Soldotna, Alaska, and Beverly Shivers of Ashland; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Bernard Nommay
ASHLAND -- Bernard "Bud" Nommay, 68, of Ashland, died Monday morning, April 10, 2000, at Cleveland Clinic, after a long illness.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home in Ashland, with the Rev. Bob Fruehling officiating. Burial will be at Ashland Cemetery, were military rites will be conducted by Ashland County Joint Veterans Council.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born April 7, 1932 in Glenmont to Bernard Julius and Helen (McDowell) Nommay.
Surviving are children and their spouses, Lisa and Brian Anderson of Ashland, Julie and Todd Burke of Hampton, Va., and Bernie Nommay of Georgia; four grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary Brengartner of Millersburg, Peg Kinsey of Glenmont and Pat Sause of Killbuck; brothers, Bill Nommay of Ashland and Bob Nommay of Youngstown; and his companion, Georgia Langley, with whom he had made his home.

Caroline Miller
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Caroline R. (Derfer) Miller, 67, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Phoenix.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, with the Revs. Scott Brown and Lillian (Derfer) Rowand officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville, is handling arrangements.
She was born Feb. 25, 1932 in Orrville to Monroe and Mary Derfer.
Surviving are sons, Paul Patton of Indianapolis, and Rick Patton of Pasadena, Calif.; sisters, the Rev. Lillian Rowand of Apple Valley, and Viola Rhodes of Bryuan, Texas; and brothers, Charles Derfer of Columbus and Walter Derfer of Palm Springs, Calif.

Albert Zay
WOOSTER -- Albert Anthony Zay, 79, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Horn Nursing Center in Wooster.
Services will be Friday at 8 p.m. at Corrigan Funeral Home, Lorain at W. 148th St., Cleveland
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 p.m., or one hour prior to the services.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Zay; a brother-in-law, a niece and two great-nephews.

Minniella Blake
WOOSTER -- Minniella Blake, 83, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Sunrise Care Community, Wooster.
Services will be Friday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa, La., Burial will be at Seal Cemetery, Varnado, La.
Local arrangements were handled by McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster.
She was born in 1916 in Sumrall, Miss., to Henry T. and Ira (Whittington) Parker and was married to John L. Blake for 35 years. He died in 1969.
Surviving are children, Shirley B. Sell of Wooster, John L. Blake II of Washington, and Marian B. Rowe of Idaho; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Hayer and brothers, Henry and Douglas Parker, all of California.

Maxine Mani
SUGARCREEK -- Maxine Mani, 68, 348 N. Broadway, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Cleveland Clinic, after an extended illness.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek, with the Revs. Carlan Helgeson and Welton Stein officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek.
Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
The family suggests contributions be made to First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek.
She was born Jan. 1, 1932 in Sugarcreek to Harold and Minnie (Brown) Moomaw and married Carl Mani on Nov. 12, 1950. He survives.
Other survivors include children and their spouses, Beth and Sam Peppers of Columbus, Greg and Morena Mani of Spring Valley, Calif., and Bill and Val Mani of Tuscarawas; 10 grandchildren; and sisters, Bernice Weingarth of Sugarcreek, Mrs. Carl (Gladys) Myers of Strasburg and Mrs. Bob (Martha) Lenhart of Coshocton.

Herman Hastings
ORRVILLE -- Herman K. Hastings, 85, 702 S. Main St., died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital, after a short illness.
Memorial graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, with the Rev. Dennis Rinehart officiating. Cremation has taken place.
There will be no calling hours. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born July 12, 1914 in Morgantown, W.Va., to Edgar and Mary Ruth (Simmons) Hastings and married R. Maude Friend on May 28, 1937 in Wellsburg, W.Va. She died Jan. 24, 1980.
Surviving are a son, Ken Hastings and his wife, Jan, of Wooster; granddaughters, Lori Ebert and her husband, Tim, of Orrville and Lisa Hastings of Culver, Ind.; great-granddaughters, Emily and Amanda Ebert; and a sister, Luella Schlobohm and her husband, Ralph, of Morgantown, W.Va.

Charles Salvo
DANVILLE -- Charles Ronald Salvo, 53, 207 E. Walnut St., died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at his residence.
He was the stepfather of Harry N. Weigand of Millersburg and Jason E. Weigand of Wooster.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Greer Wesleyan Church. There will be no calling hours. Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, is handling arrangements.
He was born Jan. 22, 1947 in Summerville, S.C., to Charles Lester and Ulyssese W. (Williams) Salvo.
Other survivors include his wife, Shirley (Miller) Salvo; sons, Timothy and Jonathan Salvo, both of Summerville, S.C., Matthew Salvo of Georgia, and Daniel Salvo of Moncks Corner, S.C.; five grandchildren; his mother of Summerville, S.C.; and sisters and their spouses, Rose and Larry Hanna, Carol Brassfield and Linda and Cleve Wilson, all of Summerville, S.C.

Ada Witt
WOOSTER -- Ada A. Witt, 91, of Sunrise Assisted Living, Wooster, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Three Oaks, Mich. Kerley & Starks Funeral Home, in St. Joseph, Mich., is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
Surviving is a daughter, Glennyce Kretchman and her husband, Dale, of Shreve.
Her husband, Frederick Witt, died previously.

Bena Beachy
SUGARCREEK -- Bena Beachy, 64, 4314 County Road 145, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg.
Services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Roy Mast officiating. Burial will be at Beachy Cemetery.
Friends may call anytime after noon today (Thursday) at the residence. Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, is handling arrangements.
She was born Oct. 16, 1935 in Holmes County to Christ M. and Bena (Miller) Beachy.
Surviving are a brother, Henry C. Beachy of the home; sisters, Mrs. Pete (Esther) Schrock, Mrs. Roman (Lizzie Ann) Beachy and Susan Schlabach, all of Sugarcreek, Mrs. Sam (Ella) Miller of Millersburg and Mrs. Noah (Elva) Miller of Berlin; and 17 nephews and 15 nieces.

Henry Goehring
LAGRANGE -- Henry S. Goehring, 66, of LaGrange, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at Elyria Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St., Spencer with the Rev. John Buda officiating. Burial will be at Spencer Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born Nov. 2, 1933 in Cleveland to Henry and Myrtle Mills.
Surviving are his wife, Edna; daughters, Lori Goehring of Brunswick, Tammy Johnson and Cathy Goehring, both of Lodi; sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Patty Goehring of Lodi and Christopher Goehring of Rittman; five grandchildren and a brother, Jack Goehring of Medina.

H. Don Purcell
LOUDONVILLE -- H. Don Purcell, 69, 2916 Township Road 749, died Thursday morning, April 13, 2000, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital, following a short illness.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with his brother-in-law, Pastor Robert Remington officiating. Burial will be at Loudonville Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 7-9 at the funeral home.

He was born July 1, 1930 in Connersville, Ind. to Harold G. and Laverne (Wood) Purcell.
Surviving are his wife, Opal (Remington) Purcell, whom he married Dec. 5, 1948; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Ellen Purcell of Columbus, Dave and Sherry Purcell of Lewis Center and Donnie and Andrea Purcell of Perrysville; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay Zickefoos and Jeannie and Tom Stake, all of Loudonville and Marianne and Doug Cowell of Perrysville; 12 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and a brother, Tony Purcell of Loudonville.

Faye Raudebaugh
JEROMESVILLE -- Faye Raudebaugh, 91, of Jeromesville, died Wednesday afternoon, April 12, 2000, at Brethren Care Nursing Home in Ashland.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville with the Rev. Art Tobergte Jr. and Chaplain Kenneth Lindecamp officiating. Burial will be at the Jeromesville Cemetery.
Friends may call today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born Feb. 2, 1909 in Wayne County to Charles and Emma (Craven) Bowman and married Oly R. Raudebaugh. He died Aug. 18, 1970.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Norman Dudte of Mifflin and Ruth Ann and Ted Paullin of Jeromesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Jeannine Raudebaugh and William and Linda Raudebaugh, all of Jeromesville; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Huffman of Millersburg and brothers, Ronald Bowman of Burbank and Donald Bowman of New Pittsburg.

Alonzo Wilson
ORRVILLE -- Alonzo "John" Wilson, 58, 1750 South Kohler Road, Orrville, beloved husband of Ernestine and loving father of Lisa and Lelia, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Shady Lawn Health Care Community, following an eleven month battle with cancer.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville with the Revs. Claude McComas, Jeff Hatfield, and Doug Sparks officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

He was born on April 22, 1941 in Victor, W.Va. to Henry and Verma (Willis) Wilson and married Ernestine Blair on May 18, 1963 in Cifton Forge, Virginia. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Lisa Wilson and Lelia Wilson of Orrville, three special friends, Jeffrey Harper of Santa Fe, Texas, and Jessica and Ashley Ross of Dalton, his mother, Verma Wilson of Victor, W.Va., and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Willis "Gib" and Carol Wilson of Victor, W.Va., Roy "Gun" and Phyllis Wilson of Anstead, W.Va. and Charlie "Chig" and Carole Wilson of Dalton.

Jimmy Cantey Sr.
WOOSTER -- James "Jimmy" Cantey Sr., 56, 311 E. South St., Apt. 601, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with the Revs. Leroy Adams and Arthur A. Ruffin Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 7-8 p.m. at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home.
He was born Oct. 7, 1943 in Boykin, S.C. to Thomas and Sallie (Keyes) Cantey.
Surviving are a daughter, Simone McNitt of University Heights; sisters, Sally House, Minnie Griffith, Lula Corene Durden, Bernice Johnson, Sadie Mae White, all of Wooster and Betty Jean Crawford of Euclid; brothers, Thomas J. Cantey Jr. of Wooster, Johnny Perry Cantey of Camden, S.C., Ronald Mitchell Cantey of Columbus and Ned Reynolds of Wooster and many nieces and nephews.

Morris Snyder
MOUNT EATON -- Morris H. Snyder, 77, of Mount Eaton, died Friday morning, April 14, 2000, at Massillon Community Hospital, after a brief illness.
Family graveside services will be Monday at Sunset Hills Burial Park in North Canton, with the Rev. Brad Jagger officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 1300 Christmas Seal Drive, NW, Canton 44709-3398.
He was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Massillon to John and Dorothy (Specht) Snyder and married Mabel M. Nettrouer on April 24, 1952. She survives.
Other survivors include sisters, Ethel Webber, Mary Ellen Webber and Mrs. Frank (Hazel) Laps, all of Massillon and Mrs. Don (Ester) Simon of Orrville; and a brother, Thomas Snyder of Massillon.
