Beryl Bucklew
POLK -- Beryl M. Bucklew, 84, of Polk, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Mifflin Care Center, Mansfield.
Graveside service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Polk Cemetery in Polk, with pastor Robert Holmes officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem is handling arrangements.
She was born July 17, 1916, in Ashland County to Evan and Effie (Smith) Chaney and married Charles C. Bucklew. He died March 28, 2001.
Surviving are three children, Dean Bucklew of Polk, Dennis (Wanda) Bucklew of Illinois and Cathy Lindecamp and her fiance, Richard Porter, of Polk; and four grandchildren.

John Leskin
CRESTON -- John Leskin, 85, 14 Cherokee Lane, died Friday, June 15, 2001, at his home.
Services will be Monday at 4 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home, Creston, with the Rev. Charles Vance officiating.
Friends may call Monday from 2 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
He was born May 10, 1916, in Baltimore, Md., to William and Sophia Leskin.
Surviving are four daughters, Nancy and husband, Harry Britton of Rittman, Shirley and husband, Richard Baker of Loudonville, Diane and husband, Chuck Hardy of Marysville and Karen and husband, George Wisniewski of Rittman; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, William Leskin of Lakewood and Alex Leskin of Shaker Heights.

Chloe Hay
PERRYSVILLE -- Chloe Hans Hay, 97, 1027 Township Road 3475, died Saturday morning, June 16, 2001, at Hillcrest Nursing Center, Fredericktown, after a brief illness.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville, with the Rev. Dave Kinkle officiating.
Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to The Activity Fund of Hillcrest Nursing Center, 1765 Painter Road, Fredericktown 43019.
She was born Feb. 4, 1904, in Knox County to Calvin E. and Muzetta (Taylor) Barnes and married Ralph Hans. He died in 1938. She then married Osman Hay. He died in 1981.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Doris Hans of Punta Gorda, Fla., Albert and Mae Hans of Ashland, Dale and Jeanette Hans of Howard and Paul Hans of Chiefland, Fla.; daughters and son-in-law, Opal Swank of Belleville and Sharon and Bob Ross of Perrysville; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alma Nell of Gambier.

George Dawson Sr.
LAKEVILLE -- George W. Dawson Sr., 80, formerly of 14731 Township Road 464, died Friday afternoon, June 15, 2001, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville, after a three-year illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with the Rev. Lloyd Miller officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at Loudonville Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland 44842, or to the Activity Fund of Colonial Manor Health Care Center, 747 S. Mount Vernon Ave., Loudonville 44842.
He was born March 19, 1921, in Harrison County, W.Va., to James Harry and Elizabeth (Fowler) Dawson and married Lura I. Stakepole. She died March 5, 2001.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, George "Bud" and Marianne Dawson and Dave and Janet Dawson, all of Loudonville, and Ron Dawson of West Salem; a daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Jon Harris of Booneville, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy "Sis" Satterfield of Worthington, W.Va.

Dewey Garver
MILLERSBURG -- Dewey O. Garver, 92, of Millersburg, died Saturday morning, June 16, 2001, at Pomerene Hospital, Millersburg, after a short illness.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. David Carrick officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.
There will be no calling hours.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Holmes County Home, 7260 state Route 83, Holmesville 44633.
He was born Feb. 17, 1909, in Glenmont to Charles W. and Laura (Shuy) Garver.
Surviving are six children, Freda Campbell of Millersburg, Edward Garver, Theodore Garver, Debbie Barnes and Jenny Garver, all of Wooster, and Jeffery Garver of Millersburg; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Rudy Garver of Florida.

Enid Koop
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Enid W. Koop, 58, 1832 Onalaska Ave., formerly of Wooster, died Saturday, May 19, 2001, in La Crosse, Wis.
A memorial service of remembrance will be Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the basement at Trinity United Church of Christ, Wooster.
She was born Oct. 13, 1942, in Dover, N.H., to John and Adrienne Welsh.
She is survived by her four children, Christopher of Flagstaff, Ariz., twin daughters Andrea and Bonnie of La Crosse, Wis., and Jonathan of Kingston, N.Y.; a grandson; and her sister, Jacqueline Bryan of Montgomery Village, Md.

Ezra Byler
FREDERICKSBURG -- Ezra R. Byler, 64, South Mill Street, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Horn Nursing Center in Wooster.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bethany Conservative Mennonite Church, in Holmesville, with Pastor Duane Detweiler officiating. Burial will be at Hershberger Cemetery in Holmesville.
Friends may call today (Saturday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home, in Fredericksburg, and one hour prior to services on Sunday at the church.
He was born July 15, 1936, in Greenville, Pa., to Roman J. and Sarah J. (Chupp) Byler.
Surviving are a brother, Jonathan Byler of Wooster and sisters, Ada Raff of Wooster, Mrs. Raymond (Verna) Miller of Holmesville, Mary Miller of Apple Creek and Mrs. Dan J.D. (Ella) Miller of Fredericktown.

Violet Wilson
MEDINA -- Violet Wilson, 85, of Chippewa Road, died Friday, June 15, 2001, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Drive, Rittman, where friends may call from 1-5 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. James R. Siekbert will officiate with burial in Rittman Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Chippewa Lake Baptist Church, 5326 Chippewa Road, Medina 44256 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born Dec. 28, 1915 in Copley to William and Lottie (Freeman) Simpson and married John W. Wilson. He died in 1992.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth "Bill" and Karen (Musser) Wilson of Medina; sisters, Virginia Crider and Marilyn Leidal, both of Akron, and sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Nelson Foster of Chippewa Lake; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Vincent Meier
APPLE CREEK -- Vincent G. Meier, 60, 9525 Emerson Road, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no calling hours or services.
Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, Wooster.
He was born May 29, 1941, in Apple Creek to Leo and Gayle (Weir) Meier.
Surviving are his wife, Lorene (Ewing) Meier, whom he married May 4, 1962; children, Monty Meier of Apple Creek and Valerie (Rick) Hinerman of Dundee and a sister-in-law, Wisnu Meier of Peoria, Ill.

Warren Swartz
MASSILLON -- Warren "Sam" Swartz, 82, of Massillon died Wednesday evening, June 13, 2001, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Aldersgate Chapel of First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leslie A. Peine officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
There will be no calling hours.
The family would appreciate memorials to First United Methodist Church or to Community Hospice.
Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon, is handling arrangements.
He was born Dec. 22, 1918, in Burbank, to Austin A. and Grace (Repp) Swartz.
Surviving are his wife, Helen M. (Cindia) Swartz, with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage on Dec. 25; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Donna J.) Davis of Anacortes, Wash.; sisters, Mrs. Charles (Amanda) Millard of Killbuck and Mrs. Arline (Maude) Esselburn of Greentown and brothers, Blake Swartz of Wooster, Kyle Swartz of Dalton and Lyle Swartz of Smithville.

Gordon Barton
MILLERSBURG -- Gordon Barton, 71, 138 St. Clair St., died at Aultman Hospital, Wednesday, June 13, 2001.
He was born Aug. 24, 1929, in Wooster to Alda and Gordon Barton Sr.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Greta (Carter) Barton, a daughter, Cynthia (and husband, Michael) Norris of Millersburg, and a son, Michael of Tyler, Texas. He is also survived by four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Brezger of North Canton; a brother, Jim (Karen) of Middleville, Mich. and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg on Sunday, June 17, from 3-9 p.m.
Services will be held Monday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home with the Rev. David Carrick and the Rev. Dan Kirtlan officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Holmes Fire District No. 1 or Millersburg Christian Church.

Marilyn Kuhns
WILMOT -- Marilyn J. Kuhns, 62, of Wilmot, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Select Specialty Hospital in Barberton, following a period of declining health.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Longenecker Mennonite Church near Winesburg with Pastor Glenn Coblentz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday.
Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling arrangements.
She was born Oct. 28, 1938, in Walnut Creek, to John D. and Naomi (Kauffman) Hershberger and married William W. Kuhns Jr. on Nov. 22, 1958. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Mrs. William (Donna) Hershberger of Dundee and Mrs. Jack (Dawn) Dennis of Beach City; four grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Rebecca) Pretzeus of Baltic.

Leota Fitzgerald
ORRVILLE -- Graveside services for Leota (Lee) Fitzgerald will be Tuesday, June 19, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville with the Rev. Darryl Moody officiating. Her cremains will be interred at that time.
She died on Dec. 18, 2000. A full obituary appeared in the Dec. 20, 2000, edition of the Daily Record. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is handling arrangements.

James Geitgey
ORRVILLE -- James Warren Geitgey, 66, of Cherry Street, died Wednesday morning, June 13, 2001, at his residence, following a long illness.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville with the Rev. Brad Dews officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Feb. 1, 1935, in Cuyahoga Falls, to Warren W. and Lura (Bechtel) Geitgey and married Ida M. Fawcett on Oct. 9, 1987 in Orrville. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Ida, are his former wife Myrtle (Sammons) Geitgey, their children, James Edward (Christy Reed) Geitgey of Houston, Rodney Alan (Lisa) Geitgey of Plain City, and Teresa Ann Geitgey of Ann Arbor, Mich., two grandchildren; stepchildren, Dave (Char) Shonk of Orrville, Rick Shonk of Virginia, Jerry Shonk of Wooster, and Deb (Tony) Reed of Orrville, nine step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Patricia (Don) Stockwell of Orrville, and Phyllis Motz of Smithville, and two half-sisters, Jean (Clarence) Phipps of Peninsula, and Mary Litzell of Wadsworth.

Edna Wyre
LINDSAY, Ontario, Canada -- Edna M. Sprunger Wyre, 91, of Lindsay, Ontario, Canada, and formerly of Apple Creek, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Victoria Manor Nursing Home in Lindsay.
Memorial services will be Saturday, June 23, 2001, at 3 p.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Apple Creek with the Rev. Richard Ross officiating. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be buried in Apple Creek Cemetery.
Family will receive friends one-half hour prior to services at the church on Saturday, June 23.
Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling arrangements.
She was born near Apple Creek on Feb, 18, 1910, to the late Christian and Adella (Lehman) Sprunger. She married Ross M. Wyre of Dalton on June 26, 1938. He died previously.
She is survived by her son, John (Jean) Wyre of Norland, Ontario; two grandchildren, Ross Anthony Edmiston of Ventura, Calif., and Jennifer Edmiston of Apple Creek.

Dorothy Hawkins
GLENMONT -- Dorothy Hawkins, 85, of Glenmont, died Tuesday evening, June 12, 2001, at the home of her son in North Canton.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ of Glenmont with the Rev. Joanna Lance officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, Glenmont.
Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
She was born Feb. 26, 1916, in Glenmont, to Frederick and Gertrude (Kinsey) Michael. She married John E. Hawkins. He died in 1973.
Surviving are three children and their spouses, Danny and Pat Hawkins of Ashland, Lanny and Janet Hawkins of North Canton and Alan and Paul Hawkins of Millersburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two step-great-granddaughters.

Dan Weaver
FREDERICKSBURG -- Dan A. Weaver, 57, 8977 Township Road 652, died suddenly at his home Tuesday afternoon, June 12, 2001, after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Services will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at his home with Bishop John Troyer officiating. Burial will be in the Weaver Cemetery, Salt Creek Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call anytime at his home.

He was born April 2, 1944, in Holmes County, to Andrew J. and Anna (Mullet) Weaver and married Amanda S. Hershberger on Jan. 26, 1965. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Ivan (Alma) Weaver and Andy (Betty) Weaver, both of Fredericksburg, Atlee (Betty) Weaver and Ervin Weaver of the home, Daniel Jr. (Edna) Weaver of Dundee, Nettie (Crist) Miller and Ella (Aden) Yoder of Fredericksburg, Sara (Raymond) Weaver and Arie (Freeman) Mast of Apple Creek; 31 grandchildren; four brothers, Ervin Weaver of Dalton, John Weaver of Big Prairie, Mose Weaver of Millersburg, and Aaron Weaver of Fredericksburg; and four sisters, Mrs. Jonas (Fannie) Miller of Fredericksburg, Mrs. Roman (Mary) Hershberger of Big Prairie, Mrs. Robert (Ella) Troyer of Cashton, Wis., and Mrs. Noah (Mattie) Barkman of Danville.

Faye Shank
ORRVILLE -- Faye L. Shank, 57, 211 Chateau Circle, died Monday evening, June 11, 2001, at Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, Akron, following a five-year illness.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home, Orrville, with Mark Steiner officiating. Burial of cremated remains will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville, on Friday, June 15, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Faye's memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, Wayne County Unit, in care of Wooster Clinic, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691.
There will be no calling hours.
She was born May 25, 1944, in Wooster, the daughter of Robert S. Sr. and Mary L. (Waggamon) Shank.
Surviving are a brother, Robert S. "Bob" Shank Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Margaret "Peggy" (William) Champion of Farmington Hills, Mich.; two nieces; two nephews; two grandnieces, and a grandnephew.
