WEST SALEM -- Hilda M. Hughes, 73, of West Salem, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Truth Baptist Church in West Salem, with Pastor Raymond Miller and Tom Cromer Sr. officiating. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Akron.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem.
Memorial contributions may be made to Truth Baptist Church, P.O. Box 96, West Salem 44287.
She was born Feb. 17, 1928, in Rosbyrock, W.Va., to John and Emma (Henry) Burkhart and married Wesley Hughes. He died March 10, 1998.
Surviving are brothers, Harold Burkhart of Perrysville and Paul Burkhart of Norton; sisters, Eileen Baum of Carrollton, Dorothy Clowser of Spencer, W.Va., and Linda Cromer of West Salem; and nieces and nephews.

Andrew Miller
MILLERSBURG -- Andrew M. Miller, 78, of East Jones Street, died Thursday evening, May 10, 2001, at Majora Lane Nursing Home in Millersburg, after a short illness.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with Pastor John Wanamaker officiating. Burial will be at Schrock Cemetery, Walnut Creek Township.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 187 S. Clay St., Millersburg; or to Hospice of Holmes County, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg 44654.
He was born Dec. 4, 1922, in Walnut Creek to Marnelius D. and Lizzie Ann (Yoder) Miller and married Betty "B.J." (Lengacher) Horrisberger on June 30, 1973. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Linda (Bob) Cortright of Payette, Idaho, Pat (Jim) Adams of Dover, Wayne (Ruth) Miller of New Boston, N.H., Tim (Vanessa) Miller of New Philadelphia, Karen Horrisberger of Port Orange, Fla., Gary (Lee) Horrisberger of Canton and Sherry (Denny) Kaufman of Jeromesville; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandson; brothers, Levi (Polly) Miller of Millersburg, Noah (Elva) Miller of Berlin, Mervin (Mae) Miller and Melvin (Betty) Miller, both of Walnut Creek, Aden (Susan) Miller and Junior (Twila) Miller, both of Sugarcreek.

Lucille Cliffe
WOOSTER -- Lucille Cliffe, 91, a resident of West View Manor Nursing Home, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital, after a period of declining health.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, with Pastor Atlee Hershberger officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born Oct. 13, 1909, in Shreve to William A. and Emma (Harrison) Sparr and married Paul L. Merreot on Dec. 7, 1927. He died in 1965. She later married Roy Cliffe on Aug. 2, 1969. He died in 1989.
Surviving are children, Evelyn (Ralph) Nolletti and Fred Merreot, both of Wooster, Mary Lou (Bob) Miller of Dalton, June (Elmer) Heather of Marshallville, Paul (Jean) Merreot and Stan Merreot, both of Massillon; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Robert McRae
WOOSTER -- Robert F. "Bob" McRae, 73, 905 Portage Road, Apt. 31, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at Brecksville Veterans Administration Hospital.
There will be no services or calling hours. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, is handling arrangements.
Friends who wish may make contributions to McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster 44691, to help defray funeral expenses.
He was born July 12, 1927, in Akron to Joseph and Mary (Oviat) McRae.
Surviving are his wife, Viola (Myers) McRae, whom he married March 9, 1985; children, Julia Roberts of Republic, Pa., and William McRae of Barberton; stepchildren, Karen K. Edwards of Barberton and Helen I. Shields of Wooster; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia May of North Canton.

Andrew Mast
HOLMESVILLE -- Andrew J. Mast, 89, 8590 Township Road 323, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at his residence after a brief illness.
Services will be Sunday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Dan Weaver officiating. Burial will be at County Line Cemetery.
Friends may call anytime at the residence. Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve, is handling arrangements.
He was born Feb. 13, 1912, in Holmes County, to Jacob J. and Lizzie (Miller) Mast and married Anna P. Schrock on Jan. 17, 1935. She died Nov. 26, 1998.
Surviving are children, Henry (Edna) Mast of Pleasant Hill, Ill., Arie (Melvin) Schlabach of Kokomo, Ind., Abe Mast of Wooster, Dan (Katie) Mast of Winchester, Sara (Jonas) Hochstettler of Fredericksburg, Jake (Arlene) Mast of Sarasota, Fla., Susie (Abe) Miller of Wilmot, Esther (Crist) Miller of Apple Creek, Katie (Jake) Kanagy and Aden (Penny) Mast, both of Shreve, Biena (Malva) Weaver, Edna (Eli) Yoder and Roy (Mae) Mast, all of Holmesville; 54 grandchildren; 95 great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Eli Mast of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Susie Yoder of Sugarcreek; half-brothers, Jake Mast of Berlin and Dan Mast of Sarasota, Fla.; a half-sister, Lizzieann (Raymond) Weaver of Millersburg; stepbrothers, Mose R. Miller of Millersburg and Rube R. Miller of Holmesville; and stepsisters, Sarah Yoder and Elizabeth Schrock, both of Millersburg.

WOOSTER -- R. Pauline Carter, 83, 470 Carter Drive, died Thursday afternoon, May 10, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Revs. James Christensen, Glenn Royer and Tracy L. Hughes officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Those who wish may make contributions to American Cancer Society, Wayne County Branch, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster; Shriners for Burned or Crippled Children, in care of Earl Walker, 3139 Burbank Road, Wooster; Trinity United Church of Christ, 150 E. North St., Wooster 44691; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born May 12, 1917, in Wooster to William Boyd and Julia Marie (Rush) Cornelius and married Louie T. Carter Sr. on Nov. 18, 1939. He died April 25, 2001.
Surviving are children, Louie "Tom" (Dee) Carter of Wooster and Julia (William) Anderson of Minnesota; grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Tami Anderson, Scott and Janet Anderson, Jennifer Carter Seman and Doug, and Amy Carter Brown and Kevin; great-grandchildren, Allyson and Ryan Anderson and John and Andrew Seman; a brother, Lloyd Cornelius of Wooster; and a sister, Juanita (Verne) Snyder of Fort Myers, Fla.
In addition to her husband, a daughter, Peggy JO, and a brother, Wade Cornelius, died previously.

Gayle Meier
WOOSTER -- Gayle Irene Meier, 83, died Thursday night, May 10, 2001, at Smithville-Western Nursing Home.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Roy Grindstaff officiating. Burial will be at Apple Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
She was born June 25, 1917, in Blue Earth, Minn., to Archie D. and Estella (Shuler) Weir. She married Leo M. Meier on Sept. 28, 1940. He died in 1994.
Surviving are a son, Vincent and his wife, Lorene Meier of Apple Creek and their children, Monty Meier and Valerie (Rick) Hinerman, and a daughter-in-law, Wisnu Meier and her daughter, Ally of Peoria, Ill.
A son, Marlin, died previously.

Wallace Michel
MILLERSBURG -- Wallace Edwin Michel, 84, of Millersburg, died Thursday evening, May 10, 2001, at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg, after a short illness.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg. Burial will be at Killbuck Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to Holmes County Hospice, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg 44654.
He was born Dec. 22, 1916, in Glenmont to Loren and Hazel (Allison) Michel and married Evelyn Anna Lowe on March 27, 1936. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years, are children, Bonnie (Jack) Wagers of Garrettsville, Ronnie (Karen) Michel of Springfield and Connie (Daniel) Wagner of Killbuck; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Wallace) Markley of Millersburg; and a sister-in-law, Mary Michel of Wooster.

Lois Farnsworth
WADSWORTH -- Lois G. Farnsworth, 86, of Wadsworth, died Tuesday evening, May 8, 2001, at Select Care in Barberton.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with Pastor Bill Powell officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Seville.
Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 6-9 at the funeral home, or one hour prior to services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born Nov. 20, 1914, in Akron, to Ira and Nola (Orr) Yoder and married Ward H. Farnsworth on Nov. 24, 1938. He survives.
Other survivors include children, Harold (Barbara) Farnsworth, Jim (Pam) Farnsworth and Charles "Rick" (Karen) Farnsworth, all of Wadsworth, Myron "Butch" (Linda) Farnsworth of Cortland and Eileen "Stub" Kovein of Wadsworth; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Dalen (Margaret) Yoder of Wadsworth; and sisters, Mrs. Merle (Iona) Shaw of Norton and Mrs. Joseph (LaRue) Minkhouse of Wadsworth.

Doris Caillet
WOOSTER -- Doris Mae Caillet, 73, 904 E. University St., died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Dale Sanford officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Medina, to Orra and Dora Ewing and married Earl A. Caillet on Sept. 22, 1951. He died Feb. 20, 2000.
Surviving are sisters, Elizabeth Hillick of North Canton and Ruth E. Kiefer of Medina; nieces, Pam (Jim) Kousagan of Massillon, Shirley (Gordon) Doble of Shaker Heights and Joyce (John) Ely Jr. of South Euclid; a nephew, Joel Ewing of Seattle, Wash.; and a great-niece, Amy Kousagan of Massillon.

Robert McKinzie
KETTERING -- Robert B. McKinzie, 81, formerly of Glaser Drive, Kettering, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster.
He was the father of Jean E. Pollock of Big Prairie.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home, 407 W. Liberty St., Hubbard.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
He was born Jan. 25, 1920, in Coalburg, to Henry Guy and Sydney (Whitacre) McKenzie Sr.
Other survivors include Marjorie (Hutson) McKinzie, whom he married in 1953; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Earl McKinzie of Hubbard; and two nieces and a nephew.
A brother, Henry G. McKinzie Jr., and a sister, Elsie Bogar, died previously.

Virginia Hecker
SUGARCREEK -- Virginia M. Hecker, 72, 530 Spring St., died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek, after an extended illness.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Mennonite Church in Sugarcreek, with the Rev. Kevin Farmwald officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 5-8 at Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
The family suggests contributions be made to First Mennonite Church, P.O. Box 250, Sugarcreek 44681.
She was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Strasburg, to Ralph and Erma (Starkey) Bair and married Paul E. Hecker on April 10, 1949. He survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Bonnie Hecker of Niles, Mich., Judy Green of Kansas City, Mo., Kathie (Mike) Hothem of Sugarcreek and Paula Hecker of Baltic; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Bair of Hesperia, Calif.; and a sister, Mary Yelvington of Phillipsburg, Mo.

John Wise
BURBANK -- John E. Wise, 81, of Burbank, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Robert Holmes officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.

He was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Belmont County, to Luther and Maggie (Kurth) Wise and married Marian Moore on March 1, 1945. She survives.

(Betty) Wise, Richard (Venus) Wise and Leslie Wise, all of Burbank and Marilyn (Andrew) Chubick of Dallas; four grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Wise of Burbank, Fred Wise of North Carolina, George Wise of Wooster, James Wise of Millersburg and Ross Wise of Enon; and sisters, Elsie McKeal of Wooster, Gertrude (Harley) Baer of Orrville and Hazel (Ira) Willett of Greenwich.

LAKEVILLE -- Robert "Bobby" Jones, 21, 13988 State Route 226, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, in Lakeville.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve, with the Rev. Frank Hudson officiating. Burial will be at Nashville Cemetery.

He was born March 6, 1980, in Great Barrington, Mass., to Don and Andreya (Moore) Jones.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Andreya and David Mellinger of Lakeville and his father and stepmother, Don and Susan Jones of Danville; a brother, Elmer Jones and a sister, Phyllis Jones, both of Millersburg; half-brothers, David, Jimmy and Donnie Jones, all of Great Barrington, Mass.; a stepbrother, Mark Mellinger of Millersburg; half-sisters, Stacy Jones of Danville and Florence Jones of Great Barrington, Mass.; stepsisters, Stephanie Lepley of Danville and Niki Mellinger of Tomball, Texas; paternal grandmother, Florence Stalker of Westfield, Mass.; and maternal grandparents, Robert J. and Phyllis Moore of Millersburg.

Joyce Giauque
MOUNT GILEAD -- Joyce A. Giauque, 72, of East High Street, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Morrow County Hospital.
Memorial services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Gilead, with Pastor Bob Undercuffler officiating. Burial will be at Rivercliff Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Craven & Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Gilead.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church; or American Diabetes Association.
She was born May 2, 1929, in Baltic, to Gottlieb and Zelpha (Fett) Veigel and married Charles A. Giauque on June 9, 1951. He survives.
Other survivors include children, James (Carol) Giauque of Asheville, N.C., Richard Giauque of Mount Gilead and Kathleen (George) Kopser of Lexington, Ky.; grandchildren, Lindsay, Kelsey and Emily Giauque; step-grandchildren, Joseph Kopser and Jennifer Cheek; four step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Veigel of Massillon; and a sister, Mellanie Hoerger of Wooster.

David Watkins
DUNEDIN, Fla. -- David Leroy Watkins, 89, 3301 Alt. U.S. 19 N., died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at his home.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Curlew Hills Memorial Gardens in Dunedin, Fla.
Memorial contributions may be made to People to People; or to Hospice of the Florida Sun Coast, 300 E. Bay Drive, Largo, Fla. 33770.
He was born May 13, 1911, in Coal Center, Pa., to David H. and Anna (McNeil) Watkins.
Surviving are his wife, Florence Watkins, whom he married in 1995; children, Carolyn Watkins Kearney and her husband Walter, of Wooster and D. Kenneth (Debbie) Watkins of York, Pa.; grandchildren, Ian D. (Jennifer) Kearney of Ann Arbor, Mich., Kathleen E. Kearney of Minneapolis, Minn., Patrick W. Kearney of Wooster, Todd C. Watkins of Lancaster, Pa., Kiersten K. Watkins and Joshua Watkins, both of York, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Seamus P. Kearney of Wooster and Katie E. Kearney of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and a brother, Robert Watkins of Souderton, Pa.
His first wife of 57 years, Winifred "Dolly" (Christman) Watkins, whom he married in 1936, died previously.

Niva Troyer
SUGARCREEK -- Niva M. Troyer, 47, 4260 Township Road 420, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at her residence.
Services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at the Nelson A. Hershberger residence, corner of Township Road 420 and Gerber Valley Road, Sugarcreek, with Bishop Atlee A. Troyer officiating. Burial will be at the Roman Coblentz Cemetery, Walnut Creek Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call anytime at the residence.
Arrangements are being handled by Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
She was born March 30, 1954, in Holmes County, to Mahlon J. and Erma (Troyer) Schrock and married Raymond M. Troyer on Sept. 20, 1979. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Rosemary of the home; her mother of Sugarcreek; a brother, Jacob Schrock and a sister, Calista (Allen N.) Miller, both of Sugarcreek.
