Helen Porter
SCIO -- Helen Knox Porter, 86, formerly of Scio, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Orrville.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Koch Funeral Home, 101 W. Main St., Scio, with the Rev. Bruce Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be at Perrysville Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 6-8 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born Dec. 29, 1914, in McConnellsville, to Homer and Lillian (Allen) Knox and married Joseph O. Porter. He died June 9, 1999.
Surviving are children, Louise Coppa of Orrville, David E. Porter of Cincinnati and Janet M. Higgins of St. Cloud, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Opal Hall of Cadiz; and a brother, James Hubert Knox of Kalama, Wash.

William Miller
ELYRIA -- William T. Miller, 76, of Elyria, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Elyria United Methodist Village.
He was the father of Kay Powers of Wooster.
Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Huntington Cemetery, with the Rev. Beth McKee officiating.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria.
He was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Spring City, Tenn.
Other survivors include children, David Miller of Elyria, James Miller of Mount Juliet, Tenn., and Floyd Miller of Conneaut; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ethel Reed of Grandview, Tenn., and Edith Smith of Alice, Texas.
His wife, Ruby L. Miller, died in 1985.

William Kissinger
SARASOTA, Fla. -- William "Bill" Kissinger, 90, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Creston, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at a nursing home in Panama City, Fla.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Osprey Church, 265 N. Tammy Trail, Osprey, Fla. Burial will be at Palm Memorial Park in Sarasota, Fla.
Friends may call a half-hour prior to the services at the church.
He was born in Creston to Elmer and Mirna Kissinger.
Surviving are his wife, Josephine Hall Kissinger; and relatives in the Wayne County area.

Mary Moore
KILLBUCK -- Mary Katherine Moore, 95, 40691 County Road 19, died Monday morning, May 7, 2001, at Majera Lane Care Center in Millersburg.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with the Rev. Dan Kirtlan officiating. Burial will be at Blissfield Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 7-9 at the funeral home, or until service time on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holmes County.
She was born Oct. 5, 1905, in Bellaire, to John and Minnie (Rine) Segiel Sr. and married Kenneth William Moore on March 12, 1922. He died Oct. 4, 1975.
Surviving are children, Betty (Jearld) Boyd of Canal Fulton, Gene (Adele) Moore of Massillon, Kenneth (Jerilee) Moore Jr. of Dresden, Larry (Marlene) Moore and Marlin (Barb) Moore, both of Killbuck; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Esther Gingerich
MILLERSBURG -- Esther Gingerich, 82, 6352 State Route 39, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at her residence after an extended illness.
Services will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Jonathan Miller officiating. Burial will be at Coblentz Cemetery, Berlin Township.
Friends may call anytime today (Tuesday) after 2 at the residence.
Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
She was born June 14, 1918, in Nappanee, Ind., to Jacob M. and Lizzie (Miller) Burkholder and married Ervin Gingerich on Dec. 19, 1940. He survives.
Other survivors include children, Merle (Marilyn) Gingerich, Allen (Wilma) Gingerich, Ray (Grace) Gingerich, Barbara (Ed) Schrock and Martha (Wayne) Weaver, all of Millersburg, Edna (Edwin) Troyer of Sugarcreek and Betty (Robert) Schrock of Walnut Creek; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Edward and Raymond Burkholder, both of Nappanee, Ind.

John Gallagher
WOOSTER -- John J. Gallagher, 78, 8275 McQuaid Road, died Sunday afternoon, May 6, 2001, at Glendora Health Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster.
Those who wish may make contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church, P.O. Box 109, Wooster 44691.
He was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Pittsburgh, to John J. and Elizabeth (Weitz) Gallagher and married Bernadine Besancon on Sept. 1, 1948. She survives.
Other survivors include children, John "Jack" (Diane) Gallagher of Fredericksburg, Jim (Karen) Gallagher of New Philadelphia, Tom (Barb) Gallagher and Susan (Mike) Buss, both of Apple Creek; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Ross of Wooster.

Cloy Miller
WATERLOO, Iowa -- Graveside services for Cloy M. Miller, 96, 1955 Heath St., Waterloo, Iowa, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Mennonite Church, 7843 Smucker Road, Smithville. A lunch will be served following the service.
He was a member of Oak Grove Mennonite Church and a long-time resident of Barberton.
He died Dec. 27, 2000, in Waterloo, Iowa.

F. Eileen Machan
SUGARCREEK -- F. Eileen Machan, 76, of Sugarcreek, died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Union Hospital in Dover.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Shanesville Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Long officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call today (Sunday) from 3-5 p.m. at Butler-Varns Funeral Home, Sugarcreek.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shanesville Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 478, Sugarcreek 44681.
She was born April 30, 1925, in Wainwright to Eugene and Mary (Gervasi) Swaldo and married Joe Machan on Oct. 27, 1951. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Randy Machan of Dover and Gregg (Beth) Machan of Newcomerstown; four grandchildren; four brothers, William (Wilma) Swaldo and R. Dean (Donna) Swaldo, both of New Philadelphia, Ted (Linda) Swaldo of North Canton and Gary (Patty) Swaldo of Bolivar; and two sisters, Mrs. Sonny (Emmy) King of Sugarcreek and Mrs. Jack (Cheryl) Fickes of New Philadelphia.

Dorothy Welsh
ORRVILLE -- Dorothy A. Welsh, 79, 1892 Brookwood Court, died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, from injuries sustained in a fall at her residence.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville, with Father John Mueller officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Gresser Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
She was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Mount Vernon to Charles A. and Philimina (Lower) Welsh.
Surviving are a sister, Evelyn Bendot of Clearwater, Fla.; a brother, Glenn Welsh of Dalton; and nieces and nephews.

Raymond Hollinger
TUSCARAWAS TOWNSHIP -- Raymond D. Hollinger, 92, of Tuscarawas Township, died Saturday morning, May 5, 2001 at Shady Lawn Health Care Community in Dalton, following an extended illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster with the Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will be in Brookfield Cemetery in Tuscarawas Township.
Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stanwood Community Church, 14715 Stanwood St., S.W., Navarre 44662.
He was born on Aug. 3, 1908 to Evalyn and Emma (Stoner) Hollinger and married Maude M. Williams on June 18, 1938. She died Nov. 22, 1992.
Surviving are three sons, Larry Hollinger of the home, Donald (Wanda) Hollinger of Massillon, and Dale (Karen) Hollinger of Massillon; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

Lucy Nolan
WOOSTER -- Lucy E. Nolan, 84, formerly of 1806 Gasche St., died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville with the Rev. David McKinnon officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Barnesville Library, Barnesville.
Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 8, 1916, in Barnesville, to William A. and Vesta (McLaughlin) Hutchison and married Victor B. Nolan on May 5, 1942. He died June 9, 1987.
Surviving are a son, Roy Hutchison Nolan of Wooster and a brother, Thomas Hutchison of Reynoldsburg and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Novenda Tucker
RITTMAN -- Novenda A. Tucker, 75, 116 N. Metzger Ave., died Wednesday night, May 2, 2001, at her home.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home, Rittman, with the Rev. Bret A. Deffenbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Friends may call two hours prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691 or to the North Central Chapter No. 8 of American Ex Prisoners of War, P.O. Box 1587, Wooster 44691.
She was born Aug. 18, 1925, in Fort Gay, W.Va., to Walter and Flora (Elrod) Boyes and married Paul H. Tucker. He died Sept. 22, 1992.
Surviving are sons, Larry (Linda) Tucker and Scott (Heidi) Tucker, both of Wooster, and Les (Rita) Tucker of Rittman; a daughter, Martha Tucker of Rittman; grandchildren, Kevin (Jess) Tucker, Christiann, Jennifer and Paul Tucker; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Keith Boyes of Interlachen, Fla. and sisters, Wanda Hollingsworth of Prichard, W.Va., Glenna Leonard of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Vera Hamilton of Interlachen, Fla.

R. Emerson Dilgard
WOOSTER -- R. Emerson Dilgard, 83, 429 Beverly Road, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
A Memorial service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Wooster United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dale Sanford officiating.
Friends may call Saturday from 6-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home. A Masonic Memorial service will be held at 5:45 p.m.
Private Interment will be at Newkirk Cemetery.
Mr. Dilgard was born May 31, 1917, to Clifford O. and Ila (Daily) Dilgard. On Nov. 20, 1941, he was married to Vera F. Miley.
In addition to his wife, Vera, of 59 years, he is survived by three children, Robert Dilgard of Cincinnati, George Dilgard of Birmingham, Mich. and Jean Chamberlain of Columbus; three grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Carl (Avalon) Fry of Millersburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 345 N. Market St., Wooster 44691.

Janis Glasgow
SAN DIEGO -- Janis Glasgow, 66, of San Diego, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, from complications of diabetic condition.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
She was born in Wooster to Paul and Edna Glasgow.
Surviving is her mother, Edna Glasgow.

Dora Miller
DUNDEE -- Dora Miller, 59, 7913 Township Road 671, died Wednesday evening, May 2, 2001, in her home, following a brief illness.
Services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at her residence with Bishop Harvey Bowman officiating. Burial will be in the Miller Family Cemetery, Paint Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call anytime at her home.
Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling arrangements.
She was born Feb. 26, 1942, in Holmes County, to Eli M. and Amanda (Nisley) Yoder and married John A.M. Miller on July 2, 1964. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are eight daughters, Amanda (Mervin) Erb of Millersburg, Clara (Mose) Miller of Fredericksburg, Rebecca (Mose Jr.) Erb of Sugarcreek, Esta (Willis) Yoder of Dundee, Alma (Andrew) Yoder of Apple Creek, Lena (Andy) Weaver of Millersburg, Miriam (Wes) Yoder of Dundee, and Lucy (Mike) Yoder of Fredericksburg; four sons, John (Joanne) Miller Jr. and Delbert (Malinda) Miller of Dundee, and Allen and Adam Miller, both of the home; 25 grandchildren; a sister, Mary Yoder of Mount Hope; five brothers, Andy Yoder of Mount Hope, Jacob Yoder of Apple Creek, and Nelson, Eli, and Mike Yoder, all of Millersburg.

Wesley Stroub
ASHLAND -- Wesley Stroub, 74, of Ashland, died Wednesday morning, May 2, 2001, at Samaritan Regional Health System, following a lingering illness.
Private family memorial services were held May 2. There were no calling hours.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ashland County TB & Respiratory Health Association, 17 E. Second St., Ashland 44805.
Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
He was born April 3, 1927, in Falmouth, Ky., to Will and Jessie Mae (Switzer) Stroub and married Wilma J. Corn on Aug. 9, 1983. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are six daughters and four sons-in-law, Kaye and Garry Beck of Polk, Carol J. Sanderson of Wooster, Gail L. Shaffer of Apple Creek, Becky S. and Dennis Fulk of Montana, Bobbie J. and Joe Gallagher of Ashland and Lois and Wayne Rameau of Port Richey, Fla.; two sons, Larry Stroub of Polk and Harold D. Sanderson of Rochester, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and a sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Earl Franks of Loudonville.

Carl Stitzlein
LOUDONVILLE -- Carl H. Stitzlein, 82, 446 Lake Township Road 2672, died Monday evening, May 1, 2001, at Samaritan Regional Health System.
Services will be conducted on Saturday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Loudonville, with Pastor Terry E. Ruther officiating. Burial with military services will be at Loudonville Cemetery.
Friends may call at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, on Friday, May 4, from 3:30-5 and 7-9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Stitzlein was born June 4, 1918, in Green Township, Ashland County, the son of the late Edward L. and Ada (Strang) Stitzlein.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Moherman) Stitzlein, whom he married Dec. 17, 1942; five daughters and sons-in-law, Saundra and J. Thomas Rhamey of Lakeville, Linda and Edward Weitz of Ridgway, Colo., Diana and Lee Fromme of Loudonville, Judith Bridger of Wooster and Tamela Adams of North Canton; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clovis and Ruth Stitzlein and Robert and Colleen Stitzlein, both of Loudonville; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Bessie Hoyer, Norma Snyder and Wava and Richard Armstrong, all of Loudonville.
