MILLERSBURG -- Amanda Mast, 84, 5020 Township Road 401, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at her residence, following a short illness.
Services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at the Mast residence with Bishop Allen Miller officiating. Burial will be at Raber Cemetery, Walnut Creek Township.
Friends may call anytime after noon today (Wednesday) at the residence.
Arrangements are being handled by Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
She was born April 18, 1916, in Holmes County, to Ammon and Susanna (Schrock) Miller and married Albert B. Mast on Feb. 20, 1941. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, John (Mahala) Mast of Crossville, Tenn. and Edward (Wilma) Mast of Hutchinson, Kan.; four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Marie) Kline of Fredericksburg, Mrs. Wallace (Ruth Ann) Coblentz of Flemingsburg, Ky., Mrs. Daniel (Fern) Hochstetler of Millersburg and Mrs. Eddie (Sara Sue) Miller of Sugarcreek; 37 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two sisters, Anna Mast of Sugarcreek and Mrs. Roman (Sarah) Raber of Millersburg.

Sandra Shelly
WADSWORTH -- Sandra J. Shelly, 68, of Wadsworth, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Altercare of Wadsworth, after a four-year illness.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at First Mennonite Church, 405 Trease Road, Wadsworth, with the Rev. James R. Mohr officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at First Mennonite Church.
Contributions may be made to Tri-County Hospice or First Mennonite Church.
Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home Inc., Wadsworth, is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Shelly was born in Wadsworth.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Carl R.; daughter and son-in-law, Carol "The Butterfly Lady" and Wes Wirth of Orrville; grandson, Ken, of Orrville; brothers, Richard McGill of Medina and Gene McGill of Wadsworth; sisters, Judy Hawk and Sheila Perrin, both of Wadsworth and great-aunt, Gertrude Mitchell of Colorado; 15 nieces and nephews; 25 great-nieces and great-nephews; two great-great-nephews and a great-great-niece.

Ella Croft
WOOSTER -- Ella Mae Croft, 77, Hunters Chase, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a brief illness.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Canaan Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wayne Presbyterian Church, 7152 Burbank Road, Wooster 44691.
Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.
She was born May 6, 1923, in Smithville, to George and Blanche (Ammon) Tobias and married Emil V. Croft on Sept. 22, 1938. He died Sept. 28, 1991.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Marcella and Daniel Shew of Delaware, Sandra and Richard Bowman of Creston and Nancy and Thomas Sargeant of Wooster; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A. May Deffenbaugh
WADSWORTH -- A. May Deffenbaugh, 82, 370 Oak St., died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Pebble Creek Nursing Home, Akron.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Steiner officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association, 4815 Munson St., N.W., Canton 44718.
She was born March 21, 1918, in Apple Creek, to John and Ada May (Beck) Yoder and married Harold Deffenbaugh on Oct. 16, 1937. He died in 1965.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Thomas Franks of Wadsworth and two grandchildren.

Lewis King
CANTON -- Lewis Bruce "Red" King, 76, of Canton, died Tuesday morning, March 20, 2001, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, following an extended illness.
He was the father and father-in-law of Karon "Kathy" and Robert Lincoln of Shreve.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Firestone Road Baptist Church, 6655 Firestone Road, N.E., Canton, with the Rev. Lloyd Miller officiating. Burial will be at Somerton Southern Cemetery in Somerton.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at Reed Funeral Home in Canton and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday from 9-10 a.m.
The family suggests memorials be made in his name to Firestone Road Baptist Church.
He was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Summerfield, Noble County, to the Rev. Roy D. and Freda (Bruce) King. His wife of 51 years, Juanita J. King, died Oct. 3, 1997.
Surviving in addition to his daughter and son-in-law of Shreve are another daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Thomas Berry of Carrollton; his son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Kerry K. King and Velma King of Fairview Park; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Robert Condry
WOOSTER -- Robert L. "Mick" Condry, 77, of Wooster died Saturday afternoon, March 17, 2001, at Glendora Health Care Center.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, with the Rev. Michael McHale officiating, followed by interment at Warner Pioneer Cemetery, Wooster.
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight (Wednesday) from 6-8.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691 or American Cancer Society, Wayne County Branch, c/o Wooster Clinic, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
He was born May 1, 1923, in Wooster, to Robert H. and Maggie (Mowrer) Condry. He married Norma J. (Schultz) on Dec. 18, 1974 in Dalton. She survives.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children and stepchildren, Robert Michael (Bonnie) Condry of Celina, Barbara (Ronald) Broome of Hamilton, Beverly (Gordon) Zemrock of Shreve, Craig Powley (Mechelle Carpenter) of Dalton, Jenny (Larry) Steiner of Orrville, David (Maria) Powley of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Joyce (Jeff) Johnson of Orrville; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Rachel (Broome) Burks, Alex Broome, Megan Condry and Anna, Aaron and Emily Steiner, Zachary Powley and Mylea and brother and sister-in-law, Orlo "Ben" and Audrey Condry of Wooster.

Martha Fought
SHREVE -- Martha P. Fought, 91, of South Main Street, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Sunset View Nursing Home.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shreve Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, with the Rev. Priscilla E. Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Shreve.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home, Shreve. Eastern Star services will be at 8:45 p.m. by the Shreve Order of Eastern Star No. 496.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born July 28, 1909, in Holmes County (Ripley Township), to John H. and Grace (Chubb) Wachtel and married William E. Fought on Nov. 14, 1936. He died Jan. 20, 1990.
Surviving are two sons, William H. (Karen) Fought of Shreve and Richard D. (Linda) Fought of Wooster; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Jeane L. Wachtel of Shreve.

Lawrence Jacobs Sr.
MANSFIELD -- Lawrence A. Jacobs Sr., 84, of Mansfield, died Monday morning, March 19, 2001, at Colonial Manor in Loudonville.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church with Pastor Bonnie J. Peltomaa officiating. Burial will be at Windsor Park Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Home Directors in Mansfield and one hour prior to funeral services on Thursday at the church.
Mr. Jacobs was born May 27, 1916, in Ashland County.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby M. Buchanan Jacobs of Mansfield, whom he married Oct. 1, 1938; a daughter, Diana Dunham of Bellville; a son, Lawrence A. Jacobs Jr. of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Robert Dunham of Anchorage, Alaska, Debbie Crunkilton of Butler, Sally Dye of Loudonville, Daniel Dunham of Butler, Michael Dunham of Bellville, Felicia Minkey of Baltimore, Md. and Amy Jacobs of Columbus; 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Donald Turner
DOYLESTOWN -- Donald W. Turner, 77, of Doylestown, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at his home.
Private family services will be held.
He was born July 21, 1923, in Rittman, to Frank and Hazel (Williams) Turner and married Dorothy Deal on June 18, 1955. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter and son-in-law, Donna M. and Dean Weidner of Wooster; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.

Robert Rinehart
WARSAW -- Robert L. Rinehart, 87, 30176 County Road 343, died, Monday, March 19, 2001, at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Pastor David Dodridge officiating. Burial will be at Blissfield Cemetery with graveside military service conducted by Coshocton County Joint Veterans Council.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Clark Township Baptist Church, in care of Stacy Shriver, 128 E. 4th St., Warsaw 43844.
He was born Oct. 3, 1913, in Spraggs, Pa., to Ingram and Carrie Belle (Shriver) Rinehart and married Ruth Turner on Jan. 24, 1948. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Karen Fraelich and her husband, Clyde of Blissfield; a granddaughter; a brother, Ormonde Rinehart of Blissfield and a sister, Rose Houser of Orlando, Fla.

Jack Able
LODI -- Jack B. Able, 78, of Lodi, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at home, following a period of declining health.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, with the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi.
Friends may call tonight (Tuesday) from 7-9 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Medina County, 797 N. Court St., Medina 44256.
Surviving are a stepson, Jim (Kathleen) Hastings of Litchfield; stepdaughter, Jane (Joe) Notch of Massillon; step-grandchildren and caregivers, Tom and Melissa Smithberger of Lodi, with whom he had made his home; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Myrtle Christy
MEDINA -- Myrtle Viola Christy, 86, of Medina, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman, where she had resided for the past nine months.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, with the Rev. Randy K'Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Poe Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born June 7, 1914, in New Effington, S.D., to Benjamin Franklin and Josephine (Borgen) Harn and married Gaylord Christy on Oct. 31. 1946 in Sand Point, Idaho. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two brothers, Elmer Harn of Reno, Nev. and Ervin (Evelyn) Harn of Vale, Ore. and nieces and nephews.

Elsie Galley
MILLERSBURG -- Elsie M. Galley, 89, 5699 County Road 349, died Sunday morning, March 18, 2001, at Sunset View Nursing Home, Millersburg.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. John Wanamaker officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, is handling arrangements.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Heart Association or Faith Lutheran Church.
She was born April 9, 1911, in Holmes County, and was the daughter of Stephen and Elsie M. (Miller) Steele and married Robert W. Galley on April 20, 1932. He died Nov. 29, 1990.
Surviving are cousins, two nephews and a cousin, Edith Bickle of California, with whom she was raised.

Gary Rister II
ORRVILLE -- Gary Richard Rister II, 24, 930 Hostettler, Apt. B, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at his residence.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Church of the Cross United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Smeltzer officiating. Private family burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.
There will be no calling hours. Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Cross United Methodist Church, 5100 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Aug. 28, 1976, in Lorain to Gary and Ruth (Sampsell) Rister and married Sheila Angela Richardson in May 1995. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Ruth (Frank) Kovacs of Wooster; his father of Mulberry, Fla.; sisters, Anna Greenwood of Aztec, N.M., and Becky Rister of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and grandparents, Rosemary Sampsell of Westlake and Marie and Harold Rister of Florida.

Glenella Painter
LOUDONVILLE -- Glenella May (Davis) Painter, 79, 568 Snyder Drive, died late Saturday evening, March 17, 2001, at her home.
Services will be Wednesday, March 21, at 1 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville with the Rev. John Bassman officiating. Her wishes were to be cremated, with burial at Loudonville Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland 44805.
She was born April 19, 1921, in Wooster to Glenn and Pearl (Becker) Davis and married Richard C. Painter on Feb. 1, 1944. He preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1994.
Surviving are children, Jeffrey Randall and Virginia Painter of Fargo, N.D., and Sheryl and Chuck Sneed of Ashland; grandchildren and their spouses, Nancy and Wade Judd of St. Paul, Minn., Brad and Kelly Painter of Grand Forks, N.D., Brian Crossmon of Mansfield and Joseph and Katrina Crossmon of Ashland; step-grandchildren, Scott and Traci Sneed of Mansfield and Steve and Megan Sneed of Massillon; great-grandchildren, Preston and Pierson Painter of Grand Forks, N.D.; four step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Ebert of Wooster; nephews, nieces and their spouses, Jeffrey and Rayma Ridgway of Columbus, Michael and Karen Ridgway of Lewis Center, Clyde and Joann Ebert Jr. of Wooster, Linda Fox of Texas and Carol Brooks of Florida; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Phylis Werntz
MARSHALLVILLE -- Phylis A. Werntz, 62, 4 W. Market St., died Friday, March 16, 2001, at her home after a long illness.
Graveside services will be Monday at 10 a.m. for the immediate family at Maple Grove Cemetery, Marshallville, with the Rev. Joe Routh officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville is handling arrangements.

She was born April 30, 1938, in Apple Creek to William and Hazel (Hushour) Gordon and married Karl Werntz on Dec. 9, 1956. He survives.
Other survivors include children, Karla (Dennis) Berger, Holly Werntz and Jeffrey (Sue Ann) Werntz, all of Marshallville, Debra (Daniel) Ramsier of Seville and Dennis Werntz of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren Garrett and Gabe Ramsier andBryce, Bryndi, Brynt and Bryget Werntz; sisters Marge McClelland of Wooster and Mabel Kiener of Loudonville; and brothers Charles Gordon of Apple Creek and William Gordon of Wooster.

Violet Chapman
WOOSTER -- Violet "Mary" Chapman, 82, formerly of North Smyser Road, died Friday evening, March 16, 2001, at Bath Manor Nursing Center in Akron.
Services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, with the Rev. DeLaine McGee officiating. Burial will be at New Pittsburg Cemetery, Wooster.
Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 2450 N. Firestone Road, Wooster 44691; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born March 28, 1918, in Ashland County to Frederick and Ethel (Donelson) Ungerer and married Lawrence W. Chapman on Oct. 27, 1940 in Reedsburg. He died May 4, 1996.
Surviving are children David L. (Virginia) Chapman of Cuyahoga Falls, Geraldine Chapman of Wooster, Norma Chapman of Sheffield Lake, Rosemary Palmer (Paul Schroeder) of New Jersey and Noreen (Neal) Murray of Arizona; grandchildren Rachel Chapman, Charlotte Chapman Woofter and her husband, Christopher, Angela Bowersock, Gregory (Joscelyn) Bowersock, Amanda Schroeder, Augie Schroeder, Diana, Steve and Mike Murray; nine great-grandchildren; brothers Kenneth (Betty) Ungerer of Florida and Fred (Elaine) Ungerer of Moreland; a sister, Eloise Billheimer of Crestline; and a brother-in-law, James Miner of Wooster.

WOOSTER -- M. Joan Miles, 56, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord Friday evening, March 16, 2001, at her residence after a long illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at West Hill Baptist Church, Wooster, with Pastor Dan Wingate officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster.

She was born Aug. 20, 1944, in Sutton, W.Va., to Earl and Gay W. (Tolley) Deal and married Okey E. Miles on Oct. 2, 1964 in Sutton, W.Va. He survives.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by a son, Timothy O. (Elizabeth A.) Miles of Shreve; grandchildren Todd, Megan, Alesha and Emily Miles; her mother of Sutton, W.Va.; brothers John and Larry Deal and Jerry (Evelyn) Deal, all of Sutton, W.Va.; sisters Delores Berry of Bradenton, Fla., Shirley (Ira) Keener of Cleveland, Judy Houghton of Marlington, W.Va., and Sharon (Olen) Purvis of Myakka, Fla.; brothers-in-law Richard and William Miles, both of Shreve, and Chuck (Kathy) Miles of Sarasota, Fla.; sisters-in-law Neva (Jack) Rose and Nancy (Gary) Sprague, both of Wooster; and her mother-in-law, Myrtle Miles of Shreve.

AKRON -- Roy A. Keim, 52, 791 Garfield Road, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Sagamore Hills Medical Center in Sagamore Hills.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve, with the Rev. David Tennefoss officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Shreve.

He was born May 13, 1948, in Millersburg to Aden J. and Sevilla (Miller) Keim.
Surviving are his mother of Shreve; sisters Malinda (Bert) Miller of Shreve, Clara (David) Hershberger of Mount Eaton and Esther (Eli) Miller of Orrville; and brothers Jonas A. (Emma) Keim, Paul A. (Verna) Keim and Robert A. (Debbie) Keim, all of Shreve, Mervin A. Keim of Riverdale, N.J., and Junior Keim of Dundee.
