Jack Latshaw
STERLING -- Jack B. Latshaw, 80, of Sterling, died Tuesday morning, March 6, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital Emergency Room, following an extended illness.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Smithville with Pastor Ted Rust officiating, followed by burial at Smithville Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Wooster American Legion Post No. 68 under the direction of Lloyd L. Boyer.
Visitation will be this evening (Thursday) from 6-8 at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to People to People Ministries, 454 E. Bowman St., Wooster 44691.
Mr. Latshaw was born June 18, 1920, in Akron to Ad Ross and Bess (Ritchey) Latshaw.
He married Virginia L. Meese on July 17, 1942, in Chicago, Ill. She died Aug. 14, 1993.
He is survived by three sons, Roger B. Latshaw of Wooster, David G. (Kathleen A.) Latshaw of Smithville and Mark N. (Cheryl) Latshaw of Creston; a sister, Thelma L. Latshaw of Hagerstown, Md.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

William Sherry
SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. -- William J. Sherry, 75, of Safety Harbor, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at his residence.
Graveside services will be Saturday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Shreve with the Rev. James E. Platner officiating.
Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve is handling arrangements.
He was born in Jersey City, N.J.

Charles F. Rogers
RITTMAN -- Charles F. Rogers, 98, died of pneumonia on Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Horns Nursing Center in Wooster.
He was born on June 15, 1902.
Surviving are children, Alana of Lafayette, Ind., William of West Sand Lake, N.Y. and Charles III of Oregon.
A memorial service will be held later this summer.

Emanuel Babin
CANTON -- Emanuel Babin, 86, of Rittman, died Wednesday morning, March 7, 2001, at the Apostolic Christian Home.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Rittman Apostolic Christian Church with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at the Apostolic Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home, Rittman, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home, 10680 Steiner Road, Rittman 44270.
He was born Feb. 18, 1915, in Austria-Hungary to Daniel and Marlene (Staich) Babin.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth (Jackie) Babin of Morton, Ill.; daughters, Mrs. David (Marlene) Galat of Rockville, Conn., and Mrs. Glen (Beverly) Rufener of Doylestown; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Claire Dreibelbis
WOOSTER -- Claire E. "Peewee" Dreibelbis, 66, of Wooster, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at his home.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with the Revs. Don Bigelow and Malva Yoder officiating. Burial will be at West Salem Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born April 7, 1934, in West Salem to Bryan and Ruth (Schaad) Dreibelbis.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley (Hamlin) Dreibelbis, whom he married June 23, 1965; three children, Sherry Dreibelbis of Columbus, Brian (Yvett) Dreibelbis of West Salem and David (Jennifer) Dreibelbis of Columbus; three step-grandchildren; a brother, James Dreibelbis of Jeromesville and four sisters, Irma Greene of Kentucky, Phyllis Swain of Jeromesville, Janet Biddinger of Oklahoma and Bonnie Geiser of Wooster.

Carl Hammond
PERRYSVILLE -- Carl E. "Jake" Hammond, 77, 2753 State Route 39, died Monday afternoon, March 5, 2001, at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland, following a sudden illness at home.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville with the Rev. Lor Breyley officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
Friends may call Thursday from 3-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Alexandria to Ralph and Chloris (Fisher) Hammond.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Mae (Wilson) Kunkel Hammond, whom he married Sept. 15, 1950; his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Laurel Kunkel of Akron; his stepmother, Ruth Hammond of Lawton, Okla.; his half-brother, Glenn Hammond of Akron and his stepbrother, Robert Campbell of Lawton, Okla.

Robert Shearer
ORRVILLE -- Robert L. Shearer, 77, formerly of North Ella Street, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center, Orrville, following a long illness.
Graveside services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville, where military services also will be conducted.
There will be no calling hours.
Gresser Funeral Home, Orrville, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 140 W. Water St., Orrville 44667.
He was born June 23, 1923, in Orrville to Harry J. and Carmellia (Irving) Shearer and married Ruth Helen Imhoff on Jan. 31, 1947. She died Nov. 25, 1984.
Surviving are sons, Steve (Lisa) Shearer of Sterling and Michael (Ann) Shearer of Massillon; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Pauline Lorson of Barberton.

Emma Yoss
WEST SALEM -- Emma J. Yoss, 74, of West Salem, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with the Rev. Tom Matus officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Homerville.
Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Creston to Howard and Ada (Howard) Young and married Bernard L. Yoss on March 1, 1947. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are six children and their spouses, Larry and Carolyn Yoss of Brandon, Fla., Marilyn and Gary Shearer and Wade and Robin Yoss, all of West Salem, Carol Hamilton of Redford, Mich., Janet and Ronald McKenzie of Lodi and Ray and Kristi Yoss of Spencer; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Young and Nester Young, both of Creston and a sister, Patricia Sampson of Wooster.

Betty Gillfillan
FINDLAY -- Betty A. Gillfillan, 77, of Fox Run Manor and formerly of Northview Drive, Fostoria, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at her residence.
She was the mother and mother-in-law of Helen and Ronald Thompson of Wooster.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Mann-Hare Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, with Pastor Jeremy Gillfillan officiating. Burial will be at Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 613 S. Main St., Suite 2B, Findlay 45840.
She was born Sept. 17, 1923, in Rudolph to Ray McKinley and Mary V. (Coldren) Laws. She married Herb Gillfillan in 1979 in Jellico, Tenn. He died Nov. 7, 1989.
Other survivors include a son, Irvin Laney of Seattle, Wash., daughter, Mrs. Shane (Beverly) Wagener of Perrysburg; stepsons, Dennis Gillfillan and Rick Gillfillan, both of Forest and Gary Gillfillan of Kenton; stepdaughters, Marlene Gillfillan of Grant and Mrs. Greg (Lisa) Ananice of Dunkirk; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.

Malinda Miller
DALTON -- Malinda S. Miller, 86, of Dalton, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at her home, following an extended illness.
Services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at the Alvin Hostetler residence, 13840 Emerson Road, Dalton, with Bishop Harry Weaver officiating. Burial will be in the Hershberger Cemetery, Paint Township, Wayne County.
Friends may call anytime at the Hostetler residence.
Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling arrangements.
She was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Holmes County to Samuel J. and Polly (Yoder) Miller and married Sol I. Miller on May 8, 1930. He died Feb. 3, 1976. She then married Bishop Isaac I. Miller on Nov. 13, 1983. He died Jan. 9, 1994.
Surviving are five children, Ella Mae Butts of Orrville, Emma Allen of Morgantown, Ky., Mrs. Noah (Mary) Hershberger of Kidron, Mrs. Charles (Verna) Cyrus of Dalton and with who she had made her home, Robert S. (Carol) Miller of Mount Eaton; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Levi (Mary) Miller of Apple Creek and Fannie Miller of Dundee; two stepsons, Ammon (Ida) Miller of West Lebanon and Eli (Mary) Miller of Apple Creek; 29 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Erma Snyder of Dover and two brothers, Jacob S. Miller of California and Noah S. (Edna) Miller of Hartville.

Alverda Douglas
MIDDLEFIELD -- Alverda Douglas, 100, of Middlefield and formerly of Orrville and Wooster, died Monday, March 5, 2001.
She was born July 18, 1900, in East Union Township, Orrville, Wayne County, Ohio, the daughter of David Groff Douglas and Sarah Eleanor (Orr) Douglas.
Instead of flowers, friends are asked to plant a tree in her memory. There will be no public calling hours or services. Burial will be in the Apple Creek Cemetery.
She is survived by a sister, Ruth D. Barnes of Middlefield, with whom she made her home in recent years. She is also survived by nieces Suzanne D. Stampley of Nashville, Tenn. and Dana D. Smith of Bainbridge and by a nephew, Thomas C. Douglas of Millersburg.
Auble Funeral Home is handling arrangements, with the Rev. R. Eldon Trubee, presiding.

Ethel Burkey
MILLERSBURG -- Ethel B. Burkey, 95, of Millersburg, died Tuesday morning, March 6, 2001, at the Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the St. John's Church of Millersburg with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Walther officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John's Church of Millersburg, 8670 State Route 39 West, Millersburg 44654.
Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, is handling the arrangements.
She was born Jan. 27, 1906, in Berlin Township and was the daughter of Wilmer M. and Niva (Miller) Beechy.
Surviving are, daughter, Mary Esther Hipp Russell of Millersburg; son, Bob and wife, Carole Burkey of Millersburg; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Holli and George Lee, Amy and Mike Fair, Betsy and Scott Hall, John and Pam Hipp, Brett and Patti Burkey, Beth and Randy Wengerd and Becky and Todd Denison; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Miller Beechy of Phoenix, Ariz. and a sister, Betty Buble of Phoenix, Ariz.

Beatrice Roberts
WESTLAKE -- Beatrice "Betty" Roberts, 81, formerly of Wooster, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Rae-Ann Suburban Skilled Care Nursing Center, Westlake, following a long illness.
There will be no services. Cremation has taken place and Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling arrangements.
She was born Nov. 12, 1919, in Cleveland to Edwin and Hanna (Buettner) Schlacht and married Raymond R. Roberts. He died Sept. 1, 1996.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Patricia R.) Pirro of Grafton and Mrs. Dale (Janice) Skolny of Palm Harbor, Fla.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Tyler Eagle
JEROMESVILLE -- Tyler Donald Eagle, 467 Township Road 2102, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeromesville with Pastor Alan Smearsoll officiating. Burial will be at the Jeromesville Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family and may be left at the funeral home or the church.
He was born Feb. 10, 2001, in Ashland to Andrew Eagle and Krista Glenn.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his maternal grandmother, Judy Glenn of Ashland; his maternal grandfather, Richard Glenn of Ashland; his paternal grandmother, Anne Eagle of Ashland; his maternal great-grandparents, Bill and Barb Nommay of Ashland and Robert and Adalou Glenn of Mansfield and his paternal great-grandmothers, Gloria Heffelfinger of Jeromesville and Virginia Eagle of Ashland.

CANTON -- Mary Margaret (Mulkins) Storey, 76, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 1, 2001.
Funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown with the Rev. Robert Webb officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born March 8, 1924, in Uniontown, Ky., to Clarence William and Rose Lillian (Robinson) Mulkins.
She is survived by sisters, Lilly Mulkins of Barberton, Betty Greathouse of Barberton and Ethel J. (James) Campbell of Hoover, Ala.

Marie Stoler
WOOSTER -- Marie E. Stoler, 73, 966 Timber Lane, died Tuesday morning, March 6, 2001, at her home.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Henneman officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Plain Township to John and Mary (Dowling) Switzer.
She was a homemaker and had worked at International Paper Co. and Wooster Brush Co.
Surviving are children, Mrs. Charles (Kathleen) Stein of Wooster and Robert E. and April Stoler of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild and a sister, Jeanie Lowe of Wooster.

Robert Gott
WELLINGTON -- Robert D. "Bob" Gott, 88, of Wellington, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Rittman Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rittman, following a long illness.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Norton Funeral Home, 370 South Main, Wellington, with the Rev. Timothy Steiner officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Jean Gott of Wadsworth; two grandchildren; a sister, Esther Weaver of Safety Harbor, Fla., and nieces, nephews and cousins.

SHREVE -- Emma Kurtz Miller, 84, 7782 State Route 754, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at her residence.
Services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the residence with Bishop John J. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Prairie Township.
Friends may call anytime at the residence. Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve is handling arrangements.
She was born March 21, 1916, in Holmes County to Abner J. and Barbara (Yoder) Miller and married Alvin S. Miller on Sept. 25, 1969. He died Dec. 22, 1992.
Surviving are two stepsons, Eli (Clara) Miller and Paul Miller, both of the home; four stepdaughters, Martha (Roy) Coblentz of Rushslyania; Betty Miller of the home, Amanda (Dan) Yoder of Baltic and Susan (Albert) Hershberger of Millersburg; nine step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren and a sister, Katie Miller of Hadly, Pa.
