DUNDEE -- Emma Margaret Stocksdale, 74, of Dundee, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Union Hospital.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. The Rev. Robert L. Veenhuis will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview Baptist Church; or to the American Heart Association.
She was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Dalton to Nicholas and Laura (Kampf) Fahrni.
Surviving are her husband, Russell P. Stocksdale, whom she married Feb. 26, 1961; children, Dale Allen Stocksdale of the home and Bette Ann Fitzwater of Beach City; a grandson; brothers, Albert (Ruth) Fahrni of Massillon, Marion (Ruth) Fahrni of Beach City, Raymond (Natalie) Fahrni of Apple Creek, James (Doris) Fahrni of Moffet Heights and Daniel (Donna) Fahrni of Hiram; and sisters, Edna Reed of East Canton, Betty Cowhick of California, and Martha (Andy) Sallo of Massillon.

John Wertenberger
MANSFIELD -- John R. Wertenberger, 79, 1606 Oxford St., died Monday morning, Sept. 24, 2001, at Riverside Hospital, after an extended illness.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors in Mansfield, with the Rev. James F. Winkler officiating. Military services will be held at Windsor Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to North Central Ohio Chapter 8 American Ex-Prisoners of War.
He was born Sept. 8, 1922, in Wooster, to John and Josephine (Smith) Wertenberger.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Lorna J. (Larrick) Wertenberger of Ontario; children, Larry (Diana) Wertenberger of West Jefferson, Dan (Sharon) Wertenberger of Mansfield and Tami (Michael) Hunt of Mansfield; grandchildren, Drew (Andrea) Wertenberger of Delphos, Lori Wertenberger of Cuyahoga Falls, Bob (Kelly) Roberts of Marysville; Shawna Hunt, Brian (Tammy) Armstrong, Bill (Elizabeth) Armstrong and Chris (Carmen) Armstrong, all of Mansfield; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis (Doris) Wertenberger of Hawaii; a sister, Marjorie Holladay of Bakersfield, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Patricia Fluck
WOOSTER -- Patricia C. Fluck, 54, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, in the emergency room at Wooster Community Hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Church of the Cross United Methodist Church, Wooster, with the Rev. Robert B. Smeltzer officiating. Cremation has taken place.
There will be no calling hours. Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gideons International; or Church of the Cross United Methodist Church Missions Fund, 5100 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born May 13, 1947, in Lima to Richard W. and Ethel (May) Cook and married Pete Fluck on June 17, 1967 in Sterling, Ill. He survives.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by daughters, Shawn (Merlin) Swartzentruber of Dalton and Staff Sgt. Rebecca Fluck of Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Audrey Ann and Kara Joy Swartzentruber; her mother of Bryon, Ill.; a brother, Richard (Jackie) Cook Jr. of Rock Falls, Ill.; and a sister, Ann (Bill) Harned of Monroe Center, Ill.

Elma Sears
ORRVILLE -- Elma M. Sears, 71, 8625 Bechtel Road, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Orrville, after a lingering illness.
Memorial services will be tonight (Tuesday) at 7 at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, with the Rev. David Kearns-Preston officiating. Cremation has taken place.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 1815 W. Market St., Suite 108, Akron 44313.
She was born Oct. 21, 1929, in Wooster, to Vance and Letha (Miller) Andrews and married William Glenn Sears on April 18, 1947 in Greenup, Ky. He survives.
Other survivors include children, Cynthia Fisher of Forest City, N.C., Diana (Jerry) Davis of Rutherfordton, N.C., Sandra (Bill) Dalessandro and Alan Sears, both of Orrville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert (Linda) Andrews of Elyria; a sister, Margaret Hixson of Orrville; and nieces and nephews.

Glenn Gasser
CRESTON -- Glenn E. Gasser, 77, 9940 Irvin Road, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at the Apostolic Christian Home.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Rittman Apostolic Christian Church, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at the Apostolic Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rittman Apostolic Christian Home, 10680 Steiner Road, Rittman 44270.
He was born May 26, 1924, in Sterling, and married Lois Hartzler in 1947. She died in 1966. In 1970, he married Elizabeth Rufener. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Virgil (Lois) Gasser, Daniel (Diane) Gasser, Dale (Janet) Gasser and Ben (Sharon) Gasser, all of Creston, Mrs. Kenneth (Linda) Indermuhle of Sardis and Mrs. Steve (Jollene) Hofacre of Dalton; 26 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Erma Ingold, Mrs. Roy (Mabel) Maibach and Marie Bauman, all of Rittman and Mrs. Robert (Alma) Graf of Wadsworth.

Roy Weaver
MIDLAND, Mich. -- Roy R. Weaver, 82, of Midland, Mich., formerly of Holmes County, died Saturday evening, Sept. 22, 2001, at MidMichigan Stratford Village.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Wilson Miller Funeral Home, 4210 N. Saginaw Road, Midland, Mich. Burial will be at Midland City Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Tuesday) from 6-8 at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's of Midland or MidMichigan Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Holmes County, to Levi and Mattie (Wengerd) Weaver and married Ruth Chapman on Jan. 25, 1942. She died Nov. 19, 2000.
Surviving are children, Kipton J. (Mickey) Weaver of Midland, Mich., and Pamela S. (Gordon) Garlick of Millville, N.J.; a granddaughter; sisters, Laura (Del) Nirode of Wooster and Esther BonVicini of Hollywood, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Beulah Barnes
DALTON -- Beulah M. Barnes, 90, a resident of The Oaks at Shady Lawn Nursing Center in Dalton since July 1999, formerly of Wooster, died Monday morning, Sept. 24, 2001, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville, after a short illness.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Wooster Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Alan E. Nathan officiating.
Friends may call Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster.
She was born Feb. 1, 1911, in Fryburg, Holmes County, to Charles and Lucinda (Schneider) Fry and married E.L. Barnes. He died in 1969.
Surviving are two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Butler
BIG PRAIRIE -- Kenneth W. Butler, 45, of Big Prairie, died Monday morning, Sept. 24, 2001, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Dan Kirtlan officiating. Burial will be at Nashville Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born July 19, 1956, in Millersburg, to James E. and Madeline (Fortune) Butler and married Jayne Hiller on Oct. 26, 1980. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Bradley (Tammy) Butler of Findlay, Christy Butler of Lakeville, Julie Butler of Glenmont and Kendel Butler of the home; grandchildren, Megan, Lucas, Logan, Maranda and Bradley Butler Jr., all of Findlay; his mother of Nashville; brothers, Robert and Michael Butler, both of Shreve; and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia Forney
MILTON, Fla. -- Virginia Forney, 6494 Kembro Road, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001.
She was the wife of Gary K. Forney, 6494 Kembro Road, Milton, Fla. 32570-6563 and formerly of Orrville.
Services were held Monday, Sept. 10, at Whiting Field Chapel in Milton, Fla.

Earl Weiker
WOOSTER -- Earl R. "Steve" Weiker, 89, of Cleveland Road, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Private family services will be held at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel with the Rev. David Stout officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church, 407 N. Market St., Wooster 44691 or to Wayne County Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Road, P.O. Box 266, Wooster 44691.
He was born Nov. 11, 1911, in Shreve to Cleveland C. and Beulah (Ross) Weiker. He married Irene G. Premer on Oct. 23, 1937. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Ruth Sigler of Shreve and many nieces and nephews.

Kevin Jones
MILLERSBURG -- Kevin E. Jones, 40, of County Road 35, died Monday morning, Sept. 10, 2001, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Church of Christ in Killbuck with the Rev. John Damron officiating. Burial will be at the Killbuck Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
He was born Oct. 10, 1960 in Millersburg and was the son of Welker and Marilyn (Chanay) Jones. On March 20, 1999, he married Jenny Butler and she survives.
Surviving in addition to his parents and his wife, Jenny are a son, Kevin Jones II of the home; two brothers and their spouses, Brian E. and Dee Jones of Killbuck and Scott E. and Tina Jones of Killbuck; aunts and uncles, and nieces.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Kevin E. Jones Memorial Fund, in care of the Killbuck Savings Bank, 165 N. Main St., P.O. Box 407, Killbuck 44637.

Paul Holt
KENT -- Paul S. Holt, 37, 200 Spaulding, and formerly of Orrville, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, following an accident at his residence.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery, 401 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, Pa., with the Rev. Dennis Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville.
He was born Dec. 8, 1963, in Clairton, Pa., to Edward G. and Irma (Johnston) Holt and married Susan Johnston in July 2000. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his mother, Irma Holt and a brother, David E. Holt of Orrville.

Louise Lehman
WOOSTER -- Louise Day Lehman, 77, 768 Greenwood Blvd., died Sunday morning, Sept. 9, 2001, at Harris Methodist Hospital in Bedford, Texas.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. James Collier officiating. Private family burial will be in Washington, Pa.
Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, Wooster.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Viola Startzman Free Clinic, 560 Winter St., Wooster 44691 or First Presbyterian Church, 621 College Ave., Wooster 44691.
She was born June 7, 1924, in Washington, Pa. to Guy R. and Hazel (Henry) Day. She married Jay Lehman. He died previously.
Surviving are daughters, Karen Schneider of Ames, Neb., Katherine Doyle of Mount Lebanon, Pa., and Susan Kelly of Chapin, S.C.; five granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.

Betty Haislet
MEDINA, Minn. -- Betty "Jo" Haislet, a Medina, Minn., resident since 1965, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001.
Jo is survived by her mother, Marie Uhler of Wooster; her children Tim (Darcy) Haislet, T.J. Haislet, Terri (Scott) Mills-Harris and Tina (Randy) Freeman; and her grandchildren Missi Mills, Justin Mills, Cody Haislet, Perry Haislet and Brandy Haislet.
Memorials in lieu of flowers will be directed by the family to Jo's favorite charities.
Celebration of Life Service will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001 at Woodridge Church, 1500 County Road 24, Medina, Minn., with visitation two hours prior to the service. There will be private family interment.
Arrangements are being handled by Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake, Minn.

Roy Shoup
HOLLAND, Mich. -- Roy Shoup, 76, of Holland, Mich., and formerly of Aiken, S.C., died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Holland Community Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Aiken, S.C. Burial of ashes will be at Sunset Memory Gardens and Mausoleum in Aiken, S.C.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Holland Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2144 in Holland, Mich.
Arrangements are being handled by the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes Inc., 188 W. 32nd St. in Holland, Mich.
He was born in Orrville.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Shoup of Holland, Mich.; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Shoup of Holland, Mich.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Betty Shoup of Bremen, Ind., Walter and Ida Shoup of Orrville and Ira Shoup of Wadsworth; brother-in-law Melvin Hites of Wooster; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ralph Gwaltney
RITTMAN -- Ralph Gwaltney, 95, formerly of West Liberty Street, Rittman, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at the Apostolic Christian Home.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with the Revs. Richard A. Lapehn and James E. Watt officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Friends may Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Milton Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 306, Rittman 44270.
He was born July 6, 1906, at Carmi, Ill., to Richard and Bertha (Sumpter) Gwaltney and married Thelma Lawrentz on Sept. 1, 1928. She died in 1999.
Surviving are a son, Thomas (Sherri) Gwaltney of Rittman; daughters Shirley (Carl) Walch of Bowie, Md., and Janet (Ronald) Steele of Rittman; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Richard Leaders
MILLERSBURG -- Richard Leaders, 53, of Millersburg, died Friday afternoon, Sept. 7, 2001, at his home.
Private graveside services will be Tuesday with the Rev. David Carrick officiating.
Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
He was born May 26, 1948, in Alliance to Robert and Martha Leaders and married Darlene Bernhart on May 6, 1976. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Tiffany Dunsmore of Millersburg, and his mother of Millersburg.

Florence Macy
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Florence E. Macy, 81, of Anaheim, Calif. died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Western Medical Center in Anaheim, Calif.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with the Rev. F. D. Donaldson officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1275 E. Broadway, Anaheim, Calif. 92805.
She was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Rittman to Herbert B. and Grace (Martin) Adams and married Marley Macy. He died in 1977.
Surviving are brothers Herbert (Klara) Adams of Strongsville and John (June) Adams of Smithville; and sisters Ida Mae Brickey and Pauline Houston, both of Wadsworth, and Hilda Hookway of Creston.

Mildred Knutti
NORTH LAWRENCE -- Mildred A. Knutti, 83, of North Lawrence, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville, after a period of declining health.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle Funeral Home in Massillon, with the Rev. David Dooley officiating. Burial will be at Pleasantview Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Indiana to Charles and Lydia (Mishler) Grabill and married David Knutti. He died in 1980.
Surviving are a daughter, Elaine Weller of North Lawrence; a son, Gary M. Knutti of Orrville; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Agnes Mishler of Syracuse, Ind.; and brothers David Grabill of Beach City, Leroy Grabill of New Paris, Ind., Edgar Grabill of LaOtto, Ind. and Paul Grabill of Massillon.

G. Howard Griffin
MASSILLON -- G. Howard Griffin, 76, of Massillon, died Thursday morning, Sept. 6, 2001, at Massillon Community Hospital. His death followed a lengthy illness.
He was born on Feb. 13, 1925, in Roane County, W.Va., to Grover and Roxie (Jarvis) Griffin.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette M. (Rook) Griffin, whom he married on Dec. 7, 1947; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean L. and Vickie Griffin of Orrville and Keith H. and Polly Griffin of Hanover, N.H.; three grandsons; five sisters, Lucille O'Dell of Grants Pass, Ore., Orpha Anderson of Elkview, W.Va., Erma Pitman of Wooster, Ellyn Schaeffer and Carolyn Winkler, both of Orrville and a brother, Brooks Griffin of Charleston, W.Va.
Services will be conducted on Monday at 1 p.m. at Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon; interment will follow in Maple Mound Cemetery in Creston.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. The Clinton Lodge will hold services on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the Massillon Boys and Girls Club, 730 Duncan SW, Massillon 44647; or First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 301 Lincoln Way East, Massillon 44646.
