WOOSTER -- Scot T. Beckwith, 36, 503 Spink St., died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at his home.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with Pastor John Miller officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 15, 1964, in Painesville, to George L. and Anna M. (Cain) Beckwith and married Amy Kiser on Feb. 15, 1997. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Lauren and Megan, both of the home; brothers, Donald Henry Kunze of Madison, Jeffrey, Richard and Danny Beckwith, all of Wooster; and sisters, Robyn Clair, Sandra Sanders and April Beckwith, all of Wooster.

Ethel Stevens
MASSILLON -- Ethel Louise Stevens, 83, of Massillon, died Monday evening, Jan. 29, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Reed Funeral Home in Canton, with the Rev. Craig Ott officiating. Burial will be at Brookfield Cemetery in Massillon.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
She was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Pomeroy, to Cornelius and Rhoda Coffman and married the Rev. Charles C. Stevens. He died April 2, 1992.
Surviving are children, Charlotte Snyder of Massillon and C. Spurgeon Stevens of the home.

John Yoder
SUGARCREEK -- John J. Yoder, 73, of Lugano Street, formerly of Berlin, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at his home after a short illness.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Grace Mennonite Church in Berlin, with the Revs. Levi Sommers and David Clemens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the church, or one hour prior to the services.
Arrangements are being handled by Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holmes County, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg 44654.
He was born April 25, 1927, in Holmes County, to John E. and Mary Ann (Miller) Yoder and married Fannie Coblentz on Nov. 6, 1951. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Paul "Jack," Lee and Duane Yoder, Alvin "Arch" (Laura) Yoder, Dorothy Fishburn, Esther (Mark) Klaiber and Marilyn (Darrell) Hanlon, all of Sugarcreek, and Emma (Ron) Keegan of Sarasota, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Eli Yoder of Orrville; and sisters, Ada Gingerich and Mary (Andy) Miller, both of Fredericksburg, Dora (Alfred) Miller of Apple Creek, Clara Troyer and Ella (Noah) Yoder, both of Howard.

Linda Shearer
LOUDONVILLE -- Linda L. Shearer, 59, 942 Pam Place, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 30, 2001, at her home after a three-year illness.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, with the Rev. Shirley R.N. Bergeron officiating.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland 44805.
She was born Sept. 19, 1941, in Loudonville, to Harold E. and Irene (Rutherford) Miller.
Surviving are sons, Jeffery (Stephanie) Shearer and Jerry A. Shearer, both of Loudonville and Joey T. Shearer of McZena; six grandchildren; her mother of Loudonville; and a brother, Richard E. Miller of Danville.
Her father died Jan. 20, 1984.

Chester Martin
WOOSTER -- Chester A. Martin, 78, 402 Oakmont Court, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at St. Cloud ORMC Hospital in St. Cloud, Fla.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Dale Sanford officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Those who wish may make contributions to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, 9500 Euclid Ave., Cleveland 44106, for heart research.
He was born Aug. 7, 1923, in Wellington, to Harry and Dora (Zacharias) Martin.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Marian (Spice) Martin; children, Diane (Craig) Forcell of Wooster and Dean (Sylvia) Martin of Frederick, Md.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A. June Petit
RITTMAN -- A. June (Morris) Petit, 75, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Rittman Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, after a one-year illness.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home in Wadsworth, with Pastor John Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1815 W. Market St., Suite 301, Akron 44313.
She was born in Pursglove, W.Va., and had made her home in Rittman for 52 years.
Surviving are children, David Petit of Chippewa Township and Penny (Gary) Gardiner of Rittman; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Richards of Bethesda, Minnie Cavicchia and Bonnie Namey, both of St. Clairsville.
Her husband, James Petit, died previously.

Stanley Jones
WEST SALEM -- Stanley W. Jones, 79, of West Salem, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at his home.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastors Randall S. Lehman and Robert Holmes officiating. Burial will be at Congress Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, with the family not in attendance, or one hour prior to services.

He was born June 22, 1921, in Ashland County, to Lisle and Belle (Berry) Jones and married Winifred Boatner on April 27, 1944 in Key West, Fla. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Steve (Diane) Jones of Vermont; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Repp and Margaret (Ralph) Kishbaugh, both of Ashland; and a brother, Clair Jones of Wooster.

Belva Hindman
SUN CITY, Ariz. -- Belva "Rusty" Hindman, 70, 10938 W. Sun City Blvd., Sun City, Ariz. 85351, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Ariz.
Memorial services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church of Sun City, Ariz.
Memorial contributions may be made to cancer research or heart research.
She was born in Beaver Falls, Pa.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Harry "Hector" Hindman, formerly of Apple Creek; and two nieces and a nephew of the Wayne County area.

Donald Myers Sr.
SHREVE -- Donald Eugene Myers Sr., 73, 405 N. Prospect St., died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at his home after a 5-year illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, with the Rev. Hope Eberly officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Perrysville, where military rites will be conducted by Loudon Post 257 American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8586.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born May 1, 1927, in Perrysville to Floyd and Blanche (Ayers) Myers and married Mabel M. Bender on May 11, 1951. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Robert Myers of Arkansas, Donald Myers Jr. of Shreve, Johnny Myers, Beverly Myers and Peggy (Wade) Cleaver, all of Wooster, David (Kathy) Myers of Holmesville, Toni (Max) Schrock of Engelwood, Fla., Shirley (Doug) Young of Somerset, Pa., Barbara (Roman) Yutzy of Fredericksburg and Jeanne (Wayne) Hostetler of Dalton; 14 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Glenn Myers of Richwood, George Myers of Mansfield and Harry Myers of Ashland; and a sister, Betty Davies of Canton.

Brook Stair
NASHVILLE -- Brook Elain Stair, infant daughter of Brian and Beth (Blevens) Stair, 217 Millersburg Road, was stillborn Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Big Prairie Community Bible Church with the Rev. Kristine Westbeld officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a sister Emily of the home; maternal grandparents, Lisa Blevens and Jim Parks and Billy Blevens, all of Big Prairie; maternal great-grandparents, James and Mary Mullet of Big Prairie; paternal grandparents, Jeff and Debra Stair of Shreve, paternal great-grandparents, Webster and Mildred Stair of Fullerton, Calif., and Gerald Gough of Florida; and uncle Jeff Stair Jr., aunt Carrie Stair, uncle Bill (Tori) Mullet, uncle Jeremy Parks and aunt Lori Blevens.

Orville Daugherty
APPLE CREEK -- Orville Daugherty, 87, 476 S. Apple Creek Road, and formerly of Nashville, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Horn's Nursing Center, Wooster.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home, Shreve, with the Rev. William Valentine officiating. Burial will be at Nashville Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Apple Creek Emergency Medical Service.
He was born July 26, 1913 in Baizetown, Ky. to Estill and Bertha (White) Daugherty and married Nina Howard on Aug. 29, 1932. They had been married for 58 years. She died Oct. 18, 1990.
Surviving are nine children, Charles Daugherty of Morgantown, Ky., James (Barbara) Daugherty, Oma (John) Spigelmire, Sharon (Ralph) Arbogast and Patricia (Rick) Hart, all of Wooster, Windell Daugherty of Lake City, Fla., Orville (Pam) Landon of Horse Branch, Ky., Bertha (Roy) Grubb of Huntsville, Ky. and Charlotte (Jack) Shaffer of Apple Creek; 19 grandchildren; f22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Annette Owens
JEROMESVILLE -- Annette Joy (Kline) Owens, 33, 2186 State Route 179, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 8, 2001, at SCCI Hospital in Mansfield, following an extended illness.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Terry Ruther officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery, Lake Township.
Friends may call Sunday from 1-3 and 6-9 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville.

Mildred Walker
WOOSTER -- Mildred A. Walker, 88, of Wooster, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at West View Manor in Wooster.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, with the Rev. Ermal Allen officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
There will be no calling hours.
She was born May 16, 1912 in Elmira, N.Y. to Lewis and Eva (Rudd) Owen and married Archie Walker in 1940. He died in 1969.
Surviving are children Karen (Kenneth) Purdy of Rittman, Sharen (Glen) Swartzentruber of Wooster, John of Cleveland and James of Syracuse, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Helen McKee
SEBRING -- Helen McKee, 91, of Sebring and formerly of Alliance, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at Crandall Medical Center, Sebring.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S. Union Ave., Alliance with the Rev. Marvin Strom officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park.
Friends may call Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.

She was born Aug. 24, 1909 in Los Angeles, Calif. to John and Geanne (Vueilliumier) Burky and married Herbert McKee in April 1948. He died April 18, 1980.
Surviving are three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Burky of Sebring and Ben Burky of Alliance and cousins, nieces and nephews in the Wayne County area.

Carl Isaac
KENT, Wash. -- Carl Isaac, 78, of Kent, Wash., died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at his home.
Services and burial will be held in Kent, Wash.
He was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Kentucky, to Lawrence and Stella (Tackett) Isaac.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Hill Isaac; children, Mark Isaac of Kent, Wash., and Susan Skar of El Paso, Texas; five grandchildren; brothers, Charles Isaac and Lawrence Isaac Jr., both of Rittman, Hiram Isaac of Marysville, Wash., Jim Isaac of Rialto, Calif., and Paul Isaac of Tucson, Ariz.; and sisters, Juanita Miller of Orrville and Clara Forrer of North Lawrence.

Floyd Nichols
ORRVILLE -- Floyd Edward Nichols, 71, 600 N. Main St., died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, with the Rev. David Daum officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster, where military rites will be held.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Tuesday.
He was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Clio, W.Va., and married Bonnie Hunter on April 6, 1969. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, James, Deanna, Vickey and Michael Nichols, all of Orrville; two grandchildren and brothers and sisters.

DOYLESTOWN -- William E. "Pappy" Long, 93, passed away on Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at his residence.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown with Dr. David Tennant officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery.

He was born in Preston, Iowa.
He is survived by a son, William (Betty) Long of Doylestown; a grandson, William (Margaret) Long of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a granddaughter, Pamela (Robert) Rice of Doylestown; a great-grandson, William Long and fiancee Roxanne Blake of Glen Dale, W.V.; and a nephew, Robert Long of Lake Milton.

RITTMAN -- Vernon C. Pontius Sr., 74, of Rittman, died Friday night, Feb. 9, 2001, at Rittman Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman with the Rev. Phillip R. Dague officiating. The body will be cremated and burial of the cremains will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

ORRVILLE -- Bernice L. (Gerig) Hostetler, 91, of 430 OrrVilla Drive, Apt. 801, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at her residence.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Mennonite Church, Smithville, with the Rev. Norma Duerksen officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.

She was born on Nov. 23, 1909, in Smithville to John B. and Verna (Rich) Gerig and married Ellis M. Hostetler on June 11, 1933. He died in 1999.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Jan Hostetler of Hertford, N.C., and a daughter, Kay, of Glendale, Calif.; two sisters, Evelyn Blatter of Orrville and Edithe Gerig of Wooster; four grandchildren, Kimberley Hostetler and John Cullen of Bristol, Conn., James (Liisa) Hostetler of Winfield, Ill., Susan Hostetler and Paul Salvati of Nanuet, N.Y., and Stacey Hostetler (Jimmy) Carter of Elkridge, Md.; seven great-grandchildren, Jamie and Kara Cullen, Christine, Jenny and Alex Hostetler, Taylan Salvati and Thomas Carter.

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. -- Joseph R. Straits, 54, of Pinellas Park, Fla., and formerly of Millersburg, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Palms of Pasadena Hospital.
Services will be at Memorial Park Chapel, St. Petersburg, Fla. Burial will be in Florida.
Blount Curry & Roel Funeral Homes Memorial Park Chapel in St. Petersburg, Fla., is handling arrangements.
He was born Sept. 9, 1946, in Millersburg to Francis and Betty (Watts) Straits.
