John Lilly
LODI -- John Wesley Lilly, 81, of Lodi, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at his home.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, with Pastor Jack Montgomery officiating. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Brunswick.
Friends may call tonight (Monday) from 7-9 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Medina County, 797 N. Court St., Medina 44256.
He was born Dec. 26, 1920, in Ghent, W.Va., to Lonza and Virginia (Griffith) Lilly and married Beulah Pendleton on Dec. 1, 1945. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Jane (Paul) Breedlove and Sue Koehl, both of Lodi; two granddaughters; six great-grandchildren and three sisters, Chloie Hatcher and Ora Meadows, both of Beaver, W.Va., and Vivie Korpas of Ocala, Fla.

Mabel Black
PERRYSVILLE -- Mabel B. Black, 81, 129 E. Third St., died Saturday morning, Oct. 26, 2002, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital, after a 10-month illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, with the Rev. Roy Godfrey officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Green-Perrysville Fire Department; or to St. John's Lutheran Church.
She was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Green Township to Chalmers and Effie Ann (Eddy) Grubaugh.
Surviving are a daughter, Gloria Jean (John) Weirick of Perrysville; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three nieces.
Her husband, Clarence Black, died in 1953.

Mary Schaffter
BREWSTER -- Mary Jean Schaffter, 79, of Brewster, died Saturday morning, Oct. 26, 2002, at the home of her son in Brewster, after an extended illness.
Private family services will be Tuesday at Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster, with the Rev. Joe Wright officiating. Burial will be at Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre.
Friends may call Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
She was born July 24, 1923, in Tunnelton, W.Va., to Russell R. and Mattie V. (Plum) Simpson and married Vernon B. "Butch" Schaffter on April 5, 1971. He died Nov. 10, 2000.
Surviving are children, Susan Hostetler and Roger Wiles, both of Navarre, David Wiles and Darrell Wiles, both of Brewster and James B. Wiles of Massillon; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Hayes, Vera Donat and Kathleen Messenger, all of Brewster, Phyllis Adams of Canton, Doris Walker of Louisville, and Eileen Elkins of Florida.

Marjorie Swain
WADSWORTH -- Marjorie A. (Snyder) Swain, 56, of Wadsworth, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Magnolia Care & Rehabilitation Center, after a lengthy illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, with Chaplain Judy Wismer Claycomb officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Friends who wish may make contributions to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
She was born in Barberton.
Surviving are her husband, Paul A.; sons, John Paul (Leah) Zimmerman and Eric W. Zimmerman, grandchildren, Brittany and Mason Zimmerman, and her mother, Margaret Webb, all of Wadsworth; brothers, Robert Bischoff of Wadsworth and Frank Bischoff of Barberton; and a sister, Wanda Mercer of Canal Fulton.

Frank Smrdel III
WEST SALEM -- Frank Smrdel III, 56, of West Salem, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at his home.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Christopher Cottrel officiating. Burial will be at Congress Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
He was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Cleveland to Frank and Margaret (Bodnar) Smrdel Jr. and married Linda K. Haug on July 11, 1970, in Cleveland. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are sons, Steven and Michael, both of the home; his mother of Chesterland; a brother, John Smrdel of Chesterland; and a sister, Carole (Steve) Fromhercz of Aurora.

Galen Frederick
GLENMONT -- Galen W. Frederick, 84, of Glenmont, died Friday evening, Oct. 25, 2002, at his home after an extended illness.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Ed Stivers officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, Glenmont, where military services will be conducted by Killbuck Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends may call tonight (Sunday) from 6-9 at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of Holmes County, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg 44654; or Glenmont Church of Christ, P.O. Box 387, Glenmont 44628.
He was born June 6, 1918, in Millersburg to Roy and Josephine (Schmidt) Frederick and married Norma M. Brown on Oct. 14, 1941. She died May 22, 2002.
Surviving are children, Gay Lynn (Harold) Wolfe of Heath, Joy L. Drake and Merry K. Shaffer, both of Killbuck, Sherry R. Frederick of Wooster and Joe (Susan) Frederick of Glenmont; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Linda Clark
WOOSTER -- Linda L. Clark, 61, formerly of 200 S. Market St., died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Horn Nursing Center, Wooster.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, with Capt. Tom Grace officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.
Friends may call Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 3008 Meadow Wood, NW, Massillon 44646.
She was born Jan. 13, 1941, in Lower Elk Two Mile, W.Va.
Surviving are children, Mark Andrew (Mary) Clark of Beaver Dam, Wis. and Elizabeth "Liz" (Wayne) Banfield of Shreve; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Christine Vishnick
JEROMESVILLE -- Christine Ann "Spotty" Vishnick, 50, 15 North St., died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at her residence.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Jeromesville Cemetery, with Bonnie Zimmerman officiating.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland 44805.
She was born Oct. 14, 1952, in Ashland to Denton and Janet (Rowland) Spotts and married James Vishnick on June 24, 1978. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Gay Ann Vishnick of Jeromesville; her father of Jeromesville; brothers, Michael and Matthew Spotts, both of Jeromesville, Martin Spotts of Nevada and Mitchell Spotts of Loudonville; a sister, Jackie Trent of Loudonville; and her grandmother, Marguerite Rowland of Ashland.

Robert Oliver
WOOSTER -- Robert E. "Bob" Oliver, 76, 2633 Impala St., went home to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, Oct. 23, 2002, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster, where he had resided since April.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, with the Revs. Mark Headland and Frank Milliron officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Wooster American Legion Post 69.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster; or to Wayne County Parkinson Support Group, in care of Beverly Turner, 2576 Peach Lane, Wooster 44691.
He was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Grandview to Ernest Robert and Ida Pearl (Oliver) Oliver and married Wilma JoAnne "Ann" Grady on Nov. 20, 1948, in Washingtonville. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Jeffrey L. (Vicki L.) Oliver of West Salem, Barbara (David) Snodgrass of Orrville, Sandra (Robert) Jessberger of Bexley and Cindy Manacapilli of Wooster; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Edward (Sandra) Oliver of Wooster.

Paul Wayts Sr.
CRESTON -- Paul Wayts Sr., 78, of Creston, formerly of Sterling, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with the Revs. Lee Ann Dunlap and Norman Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Medina County; or to Sterling United Methodist Church.
He was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Clarington to Ruben and Lena (Buchner) Wayts and married Vermillah "Millie" Kaser-Veichler on Sept. 18, 1976. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Paul (Glenda) Wayts Jr., Barbara (Ronald) Olson and Shirley (Robert) Trogdon, all of Creston and Gloria (Ernie) Lockhart of Cleveland, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
His first wife, Sylvia, died previously.

Robert Tissot
WOOSTER -- Robert Allison Tissot, 92, of Wooster, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Smithville-Western Care Center.
Services will be held at a later date. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster is handling arrangements.
Those who wish may make contributions to Boys' Village, P.O. Box 518, Smithville 44677; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
He was born April 27, 1910, in Mount Vernon to William and Helen (Kingsbury) Tissot and married Doris J. Teal in June of 1932. She died previously.
Surviving are children, Carolyn Stucker of Lebanon, Ind., and Mimi Berman of Wooster; grandchildren, Marilyn "Missy" Nelson of Dover, Ind., Robert Andrew Ford of Indianapolis, David Craig Berman of Nashville, Ind., and Carrie Barrie Berman of Naples, Fla.; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Tissot of Nashville, Ind.

Eli Miller
MILLERSBURG -- Eli A.E. Miller, 77, 5448 Township Road 353, died Thursday morning, Oct. 24, 2002, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Wayne County to Adam E. and Lovina J. (Yoder) Miller and married Ada E. Miller on Dec. 20, 1949. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Wayne E. (Lydiann) Miller of Rushsylvania, Nelson E. (Laura) Miller, Lloyd E. (Edna) Miller, Irene (Eddie) Hochstetler and Betty (Mahlon Troyer, all of Millersburg; 26 grandchildren; sisters, Katie (Eura) Shrock of Wooster, Anna (John) Miller Jr. and Edna (Jonas) Miller, both of Fredericksburg; a sister-in-law, Viola Miller of Fredericksburg; and an uncle, Levi J. Yoder of Walnut Creek.
Services will be Sunday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Jonathan Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Miller Family Cemetery, Berlin Township.
Friends may call anytime today (Friday) or Saturday at the residence.
Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.

Bryan Troyer
BALTIC -- Bryan A. Troyer, infant son of Andrew and Verna A. (Yoder) Troyer, 2410 State Route 643, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, a few hours after his birth on Oct. 22.
Services will be today (Thursday) at 1:30 at the Troyer residence, with Bishop Neal C. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Clark Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call 1 1/2 hours prior to the services at the residence.
Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Geib Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
Other survivors include brothers, Jonathan A., Wayne A., Arlen A. and Marion A. and sisters, Freda A. and Norma A., all of the home; grandparents, Amos R. (Ida) Yoder of Sugarcreek and Aden R. (Mary) Troyer of Baltic; and great-grandparents, Sylvia Smucker of Sugarcreek and Andrew E. Yoder of Baltic.

Daniel Schlabach
MILLERSBURG -- Daniel Schlabach, 88, 5205 Township Road 359, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Majora Lane Care Center in Millersburg, after an extended illness.
Services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Roy A. Schlabach residence, 5203 Township Road 359, Millersburg, with Bishop Vernon Burkholder officiating. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery, Berlin Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call anytime after 1 today (Thursday) at the Roy A. Schlabach residence.
Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Geib Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
He was born Oct. 31, 1913, in Millersburg, to Jacob E. and Susan (Raber) Schlabach.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Biena Schlabach of Millersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty Veach
LOUDONVILLE -- Betty June Veach died Wednesday morning, Oct. 23, 2002, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center in Loudonville.
Graveside services will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Perrysville, with the Rev. Phil Green officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville is handling arrangements.
She was born in Ashland to Frederick and Grace (McDaniels) Smith and married Robert Stanley Veach. He died previously.
Surviving are children, Matt Earl (Michelle) Wilburn of Nashville, Christine Ellen (Phil) Nolan of Butler, Deborah (Carl) Keyser and Vickie (Ed) Arnholt, both of Perrysville and Holly Jean (Roy) Thomas of Lucas; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
