WOOSTER -- Emmett V. Austen, 80, 1792 Burnetts Corner, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Wooster Community Hospital. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve with the Rev. Edward P. Balint officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Wooster American Legion Post 68. Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wooster American Legion, 1901 Sylvan Road, Wooster 44691. Surviving are two children, Pamela Wilson of Durham, N.C. and Vincent C. Austen of Wooster; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, James Austen of Leesburg and three sisters, Gail Snyder of Wooster; Doris Whitemyer of Cincinnati and Nancy Shank of Shreve.

Wilfred Marty
NORTON -- Wilfred R. Marty, 84,of Norton, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Altercare of Wadsworth, after a lengthy illness. He was the brother of Walter Marty of Sterling and Bernice Johnson of Wooster. Services will be Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew The Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Road, Norton with the Rev. James G. Maloney officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hilliard Cox Mullaney Funeral Home in Wadsworth, where there will be a prayer service at 2 p.m. Surviving in addition to his brother and sister are a son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Joan Marty of Akron and three grandsons.

MARSHALLVILLE -- Mary L. Stoll, 82, 31 E. Church St., died Monday evening, Aug. 3, at her home. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Gresser Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Butcher officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Marshallville. Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Marshallville Historical Society, Marshallville 44645. Surviving are daughter and spouse, Janice and Bud Maxwell of Marshallville; sons and spouses, Rich and Jo Stoll, Don and Nancy Stoll and Larry and Pat Stoll, all of Marshallville; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Tasseff, Norma Jean Reed and Virginia Dominick, all of Massillon and Dorothy Fisher of Leavenworth, Ind. and a brother, Paul Reed of Orrville.

Evelyn Rock
AKRON -- Evelyn Forrer Rock, 87, of Akron and formerly of Rittman, died Thursday, July 30 at Manor Care, Akron, following a period of declining health. Memorial service was held Monday at Prentice Funeral Home in Akron. The Rev. Howard D. Powell officiated. Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. Surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Karl Rickett
WOOSTER -- Karl R. Rickett, 79, 1080-14 Country Club Drive, died early this morning, (Wednesday) Aug. 5, 1998, at Westview Manor Nursing Home. Memorial services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Wayne Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Private interment will be at Wayne Presbyterian Church Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Westview Manor Auxiliary, 1715 Mechanicsburg Road, Wooster 44691 or to the Wayne Presbyterian Church Youth Group, 7152 Burbank Road, Wooster 44691 in his memory. Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster. Surviving are his wife, Elsie McCauley Rickett, whom he married Sept. 10, 1938; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Cathy Rickett of Rockville, Ind., Ned and Pauline Rickett of Wooster and Don and Pat Rickett of New Palestine, Ind.; grandchildren, Connie French, Karl Rickett, Michael Rickett, Sonia Leighty, Todd Rickett, Cora Bernhardt and Jennifer Rickett and 11 great-grandchildren.

Robert Guthrie Jr.
HENDERSON, Nev. -- Robert H. Guthrie Jr., 68, Henderson, Nev., died Friday, July 31, after a long illness. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Canton. Surviving in addition to his mother and wife, are a daughter, Mrs. Armin (Karen Sue) Zertor of California; a son, David of Canton; a sister, Annabelle Vergon of Henderson, Nev.; brothers George E. Guthrie of Canton, and Gordon and Gary of Millersburg, James of Coshocton and Thomas and John of Wooster.

Carl Schindler
RITTMAN -- Carl L. "Dutch" Schindler, 79, 348 Decourcey Road, died Sunday, August 2, 1998, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman with the Rev. Ron Heasley officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 225 W. Exchange St., Akron, 44302. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Nancy) Stoll of Marshallville and Mrs. James (Frances) Breece of Rittman; grandchildren, Diana and Donald Stoll Jr. and Michele and Stephanie Breece; great-grandson, Tyler Stoll and a sister, Loretta Marty of Ashland.

Orville Graham
WOOSTER -- Orville G. "Bud" Graham, 87, 2431 Long Road, died Monday morning, Aug. 3, 1998, at his home. Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Randall Gehres officiating. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Surviving are his wife, Luella Bernice (Lallathin) Graham, whom he married April 12, 1930; a daughter, Mrs. Eldon (Mary Lou) Bupp of Orrville; a grandson, David Bupp of Orrville; a granddaughter, Linda McHenry of Orrville and five great-grandchildren.

Hazel Crowl
MALVERN -- Hazel Crowl, 81, of Malvern, died Thursday, July 30, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, following a long illness. She was the sister of Rob White and Buna Ennis, both of Wooster. Services were held today (Monday) at 11 a.m. at Deckman-Bartley Funeral Home in Malvern. The Rev. A. Wallace Anderson officiated. Burial was at Bethlehem Cemetery. Surviving in addition to her brother and sister are two sons, Dallas (Velda) Daugherty of Muskogee, Okla. and Jerry (Joyce) Crowl of Malvern; a daughter, Ruth (Cecil) Lillie of Canton; two stepsons, Robert Crowl of Malvern and Don Crowl of California; a stepdaughter, Joy Kay Moore of Canal Fulton; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

James Holden
WOOSTER -- James D. Holden, 66, 6914 Nonpariel Road, died Saturday, Aug. 1, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a long illness. There will be no services or calling hours. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were handled by Custer Funeral Home. Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Guy and Monte Holden, both of Tallahassee, Fla. and Donald Miller of Wooster; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Carns and Jackie Sweet, both of Arizona and two brothers, Tommy Holden of Salida, Colo. and Larry Holden of Bakersfield, Calif.

Cecil Summers Sr.
WOOSTER -- Cecil L. Summers Sr., 64, 7212 Millersburg Road, died Saturday, Aug. 1, at Akron City Hospital Intensive Care Unit, from injuries sustained in a mobile home collapse. Services will be Wednesday at noon at Custer Funeral Home with the Rev. William H. Valentine officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil L. and Iola M. Summers Jr. of Shreve and Alan L. and Bonnie L. Summers of Fredericksburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda K. and Jeffrey A. Burkett of Norwalk, Mary A. and Frank J. Kruta of Fredericksburg, April and Sonny Kinney of Fremont; a daughter, Lisa J. Royer of Dalton; 14 grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Paul R. and Tincey Summers of Norwalk and his fiancee, Donna Hinkle of Wooster.

CRESTON -- Florence P. Green, 71, Navajo Drive, died Saturday morning, Aug. 1, at Medina General Hospital. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Burial will be at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph B. and Kimberly Green of Burbank and Gary J. and Cherl Green of Wooster; two grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Earl T. and Barb Henninge of Euclid and nieces and nephews.

Mabel Holmes
WEST SALEM -- Mabel O. Holmes, 82, of West Salem, died Saturday, Aug. 1, at Medina General Hospital. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with the Rev. Martha Mathatas officiating. Burial will be at West Salem Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Johnathan Marsan Sr. of Ashland; two step-grandsons; a sister, Mildred Metcalf of Ashland and two brothers, Ralph and Elmer Steele, both of Homerville.

Isaac Marsh
CRESTON -- Isaac Alexander Marsh, infant son of Michael and Laura (Fetzer) Marsh, 1417 E. Steiner Road, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 31, 1998, at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Joe Overholt officiating. Burial will be at Canaan Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Surviving are his parents, brothers and sisters, Benjamin Marsh of Massillon, April Marsh of Dalton, Adam Marsh, Aaron Marsh and Lauren Marsh, all of the home; grandparents, Ronald and Chriss Fetzer of Wooster and Susan Yund of Wooster and great-grandmothers, Dorothy Morrison of Wooster and Hazel Weirick of Wooster.

Jack Shakley
WEST SALEM -- Jack A. Shakley, 54, of West Salem, died Friday, July 31, from injuries sustained in a four-wheeler accident. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with the Rev. Roger Herman officiating. Burial will be at West Salem Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Legion Post 499 of West Salem. Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son Bryan Shakley of West Salem; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and William Braman of Norton; a daughter, Nicole Shakley of West Salem; two grandchildren; his parents of West Salem and a sister, Joanne Hodkinson of Wooster.

Marjean Trukovich
ASHLAND -- Marjean "Jean" Trukovich, 66, of Sherman Avenue, died Friday, July 31, at her residence. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Heyl Funeral Home in Ashland with the Rev. John McCourt officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Lon Coleman of Westerville, Pam and Bud Rogers of West Salem and Deanne and Jim Burns, all of Ashland; a daughter, Becky Drugan of Ashland; a son, Ronald Trukovich of Ashland; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two brothers, Randall Maycumber of Florida and Richard Maycumber of California.

Joseph Fagert
CRESTON -- Joseph W. Fagert, 82, of 13161 Cleveland Road, died Friday, July 31, at Meadowview Care Center in Seville, following a long illness. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with the Rev. Wesley Ball officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald C. and Judy Fagert of Wooster, a daughter, Clara Terry of Wooster, a stepson, Harold Richmond of Florida, and stepdaughters, Sharon Joy Wilson of Tallahassee, Fla., and Diane Williams of Creston; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Francis E. Fagert of Florida.

Benjamin Greene
BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Benjamin F. Greene, 87, formerly of Millersburg, died Wednesday, July 22, in the home where he was living in Bellingham, Wash. His two daughters, Sharon McCoy and Kris Wilcox were by his side. Survivors include his brother, Philip Stickney Greene of Redmond, N.Y., and Elizabeth Behme of Columbus; his daughters, Kristin Wilcox of Holly Springs, N.C., and Sharon McCoy of Bellingham, Wash.; and five grandsons, Scott, Matthew and Andrew Wilcox, and Jeremiah and Christopher McCoy. Memorials may be sent to the Wilderness Center, P.O. Box 202, Wilmot, OH 44689-0202.

Clifford Sigler
BURBANK -- Clifford N. Sigler, 48, of 2316 W. Pleasant Home Road, died Friday, July 31, at home following a short illness. There will be no services. Cremation takes place on Monday. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Custer Funeral Home in Wooster. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691. Surviving in addition to his parents of the home are four brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny G. (Eddy) Sigler, Rocky L. (Lisa) Sigler, Rusty L. (Hazel) Sigler and Ben W. (Amy) Sigler, all of Wooster, a sister, Jescena G. Sigler of the home; a special friend, Carol Williamson of Wooster; many nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.

ORRVILLE -- Jalen Ray Adkins, infant son of Dwayne Ray Adkins and Stephanie Melia Williams of Orrville, died Thursday, July 30 in the emergency room at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville, of complications from apparent natural causes. Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mount Eaton Cemetery, with the Rev. Claude L. McComas officiating. There will be no calling hours. Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling arrangements. Surviving in addition to his parents are maternal grandparents, Joyce Cotton of Creston and Thomas Williams of Dalton; and paternal grandmother, Linda J. Adkins of Orrville.

Raymond Perkins
SMITHVILLE -- Raymond G. Perkins, 74, 5874 Akron Road, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at his residence. Services will be Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, with Father Paul Wysocki officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to the services in the Chapel. Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville is handling arrangements. MILLERSBURG -- Katie Miller, 78, 4260 Township Road 371, died Thursday, Jan. 1, at her residence after an extended illness. Services will be Sunday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Henry E. Mast officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Berlin Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime today, (Friday) after 2 at the residence. WOOSTER -- Lenna E. Brokaw, 81, 8572 Friendsville Road, Wooster, died Thursday morning, Jan. 1, at Austin Retirement Center, after a long illness. Memorial services will be held at a later date at Greenmound Cemetery in Kilbourn. Cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours. Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling arrangements.

WOOSTER -- Edward H. Rudd, 74, of Wooster, died Thursday morning, Jan. 1, at Wooster Community Hospital, after a short illness. Memorial services will be Saturday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ in Wooster, with the Revs. Janet Burkhart and Randall Gehres officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at Welton Cemetery in Burton at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling arrangements. Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Joseph M. Yoder, 12, 7311 Roy Andrews Road NW, died Thursday, Jan. 1, at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron, after a six-month illness. Services will be Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Yoder residence with minister Paul Raber Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Family Cemetery. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Arrangements are being handled by Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
