Charles Mays
ORRVILLE -- Charles W. "Charlie" Mays, 59, 223 W. Chestnut St., died Monday morning, Oct. 21, 2002, at his residence after a one-year illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, with the Rev. Paul Scaggs officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, where military rites will be observed.
Friends may call today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home or one hour prior to the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Wayne County Branch, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster; or to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born March 6, 1943, in Point Marion, Pa., to Wallace and Charlotte (McGaw) Mays and married Thelma J. Schartiger on Oct. 6, 1965, in Pennsylvania. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Bonnie (Larry) Finkenbinder and Tonya (Bill) Yoho, both of Orrville and Charline (Michael) Murray of Wooster; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; his father of Point Marion, Pa.; brothers, Wallace (Judy) Mays Jr., Donald (Carol) Mays and Lawrence (Mary) Mays and sisters, Shirley (Doy) Cottrell and Brenda (Rob) Lowman, all of Point Marion, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Willard Shane
WOOSTER -- Willard P. "Willy" Shane, 78, of Wooster, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Wayne County Care Center.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Burial of the cremains will be at Wayne County Care Center Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wayne County Care Center, 876 S. Geyers Chapel Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born June 5, 1924, in Rittman to George P. and Isabel (Tatgenhorst) Shane and had made his home in Wayne County all of his life. Since 1982, he had resided at Wayne County Care Center.
Surviving are sisters, Virginia Brietenstine of Clinton, Dorothy M. "Dolly" Howell and Bess (Lester) Gerber, both of Wooster; and many nieces and nephews.
A sister, Gladys Dunfee, a twin brother, William Shane, and a half-brother, Charles Moore, died previously.

I. John McCauley
WOOSTER -- I. John McCauley, 88, 2138 Cleveland Road, died Saturday evening, Oct. 19, 2002, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Charles Kammer officiating. Burial will be at Reedsburg Cemetery.
Friends may call two hours prior to the services.
Those who wish may make contributions to Reedsburg Lutheran Church, in care of Kenneth Becker II, 9653 N. Elyria Road, West Salem 44287.
He was born Oct. 13, 1914, in Belington, W.Va., to Doc and Esta McCauley and married Ethel Sapp. She died in 1991.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Cindy McCauley of Wooster; a grandson, Ben McCauley of Palm Harbor, Fla.; a sister, Elsie Rickett of Wooster; and a brother, Carlton McCauley of Elkins, W.Va.
In addition to his wife, a twin sister died previously.

Jennie Daubert
MANSFIELD -- Johanna "Jennie" Daubert, 91, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at Oak Grove Manor in Mansfield, after a short illness. She was formerly of Perrysville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Loudonville, with Father Kevin Conroy as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Loudonville.
She was born March 2, 1911, near Pittsburgh, to George and Mary (Jereb) Ohlin and married Charles W. Daubert on Feb. 6, 1932. He died July 27, 1992.
Surviving are children, Marlene (Thomas) Ellis of Mansfield and William (Lida) Daubert of Perrysville; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Brentin and a brother, Rudy Ohlin, both of Poland, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, sisters, Anne Ohlin and Helen Stebelton, and brothers, Frank, Joseph, Vincent, Louis, Anthony, George, John and William Ohlin, died previously.

Paul Shenberger
LOUDONVILLE -- Paul G. Shenberger, 84, 2368 County Road 2175, died early Sunday morning, Oct. 20, 2002, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Loudonville, with the Rev. James Odie officiating. Burial will be at Vermillion Cemetery, Hayesville, where military services will be conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 124 S. Market St., Loudonville 44842.
Mr. Shenberger was born June 21, 1918, in Ashland County to George and Cora (Rosenberg) Shenberger and married Wilma Echelberger on Oct. 6, 1940. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Pat Shenberger of Hayesville; two grandsons, Christopher Shenberger and his wife, Heather, of Perrysville and Douglas Shenberger of Hayesville.
His parents and sisters, Lola Jones and Naomi Trumpower, died previously.

Thomas Beatty
RITTMAN -- Thomas J. Beatty, 82, of Rittman, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at his home.
There will be no services.
Friends may call Monday from 2-5 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home, Rittman. Burial will be at Knollwood Cemetery in Mayfield Heights.
He was born May 24, 1920, in East Liverpool.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth; stepson, Jack Hallison of Cleveland; step daughters, Dallas Yearick of Rittman and Bert Diedrichs of Painesville, and four step-grandchildren.

Errol Glasgow
WOOSTER -- Errol "Pete" Glasgow, 60, 1134 N. Apple Creek Road, died Saturday, October 19, 2002, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Fink officiating. There will be no calling hours.
He was born December 15, 1941, in Wooster to Norman S. and Dortha M. (Hall) Glasgow.
He is survived by a son, Scott D. Glasgow of Wooster; three grandchildren; three sisters, Gay (Harry) Griffin of Sanford, N.C., Kathleen Horst of Smithville and Marcy (Butch) Speelman of Fredericksburg.

Kenneth Renner
DALTON -- Kenneth E. Renner, 85, of Dalton, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Dalton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael McHale officiating. Burial will be at Dalton Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Dalton and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Masonic services will be Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Dalton United Methodist Church, 204 W. Main St., Dalton 44618, or to Shriners Childrens Hospital.
He was born July 19, 1917, in Chesterville to Sylvester and Bessie B. (Shellanbarger) Renner. He married Miriam Klick on May 30, 1940. She survives.
Surviving are his wife, Miriam Renner of Dalton; children and spouses, Bonnie and Ray Temple of Bellville, Ronald and Linda Renner of Boerne, Texas, Kenneth Robert and Marjorie Renner of Fort Collins, Colo., Sally and Fred Johnson and Ted and Penny Renner, all of Dalton, and Holly and Roger High of Richwood; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a brother, Harold (Pat) Renner of Bolivar.

Bettie Rickett
WOOSTER -- Bettie L. Rickett, 68, 3763 Dover Road, died Friday, October 18, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, with the Rev. Don R. Loving officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born March 18, 1934, in Tinsley, Ky., to Herman and Vivian (Merritt) Earls. She married Homer Rickett on September 6, 1950. He survives.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Sandy Rickett of Massillon; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons, and nieces and nephews.

Beaulah Wolfert
LIMA -- Beulah Irene Wolfert, 91, formerly of Creston, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Shawnee Manor in Lima following a period of declining health.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Creston United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Kuntz officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson Cemetery, Creston.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorials may be made to the Creston United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1111, Creston 44217, or to the Creston Garden Club, 158 S. Main St., Creston 44217.
She was born Jan. 6, 1911, to Charles and Mary Gertrude (Bowman) Beal and married Glenn Wolfert on Dec. 9, 1933. He died May 5, 1977.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Patricia (Lisle) Kaufman, and a son, Richard Wolfert; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Anna Carpi
SEVILLE -- Anna L. Carpi, 89, of Seville, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Armstrong-Waite Funeral Home, State Route 3, Seville, with Philip Wilden officiating. Burial will be at Mound Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Seville-Guilford EMS, 6 Spring St., Seville 44273.
She was born in Seville to Clarence and Mattie (Snyder) Carter .
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Ardella Horst
DALTON -- Ardella R. Horst, 61, 2827 Deerfield Avenue NW, died Thursday afternoon, Oct. 17, 2002, at Massillon Community Hospital, following a sudden illness.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at East Union Mennonite Church in Orrville with David and Willis Horst officiating. Burial will be at County Line Mennonite Church Cemetery in Dalton.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville or one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born on Aug. 23, 1941, near Petersburg, W.Va. to Earl and Pearl (Nelson) Champ and married Mervin Horst on Sept. 10, 1965, in Petersburg, W.Va. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Karl, Clair and Merl Horst, all of Dalton, her father and stepmother, Earl and Elva Champ of Petersburg, W.Va., two sisters, Viola Champ of Petersburg, W.Va. and Shirley (Floyd) Mast of Amelia, Va., two half-brothers, Stanley (Mary Alice) Champ of Hegius, Pa. and Larry (Ruth) Champ of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Russell Kauf
CINNAMON LAKE -- Russell Dale Kauf, 67, of Cinnamon Lake, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Hospice Center of Copley.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lodi United Methodist Church, 320 Medina St., Lodi, with the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
Friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lodi United Methodist Church, 320 Medina St., Lodi 44254.
He was born Nov. 5, 1934, in Bellville to William and Dorcus Kauf.
Surviving are his wife, Dee Kauf; daughters, Deborah (Pete) Plank and Denise Marty; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons; brothers, Everett Kauf and John (Cathy) Kauf, both of Seville, Don (Barbara) Kauf and William Raymond Kauf Jr., both of Wooster, John Kauf of Mansfield and a sister, Luann (Russell) Locke of Lodi; and stepdaughters, Deana (Harry) Feesler of Chippewa Lake, Regenia Huffman of Akron and Andrea (William) Sellars of Sullivan.
His first wife, Donna (Simcox) Kauf, died previously.

Albert Kley
WOOSTER -- Albert J. Kley, 83, 503 Oakmont Court, died Wednesday evening, October 16, 2002, at Wooster Community Hospital, following an extended illness.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, Wooster, with Pastor Wayne Giesler officiating. The family will greet family and friends following services.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling arrangements. A private interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, at a later date for the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to either Troop 61 Boy Scouts, in care of Stewart Fitz Gibbon, 227 Oakley Road, Wooster 44691 or Concordia Lutheran Church, 2343 Star Drive, Wooster 44691.
Mr. Kley was born March 25, 1919, in Lynchburg, Va. to Albert Louis and Mildred (Johnston) Kley. He married Norma J. Cabell on May 9, 1970, in Wooster. She survives.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by a son, Thomas Kley; four stepsons, Dr. Ronald C. (Marilyn J.) Hughes, Barry L. (Dorothy) Hughes and Dr. Keith G. (Dr. Susan) Hughes, all of Columbus area and Christopher K. (Sharon) Hughes of Wooster; a sister, Julia Hutchison of Claremont, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandson.

George Lenart
BURBANK -- George Lenart, 61, of Burbank, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at his residence, from apparent natural causes.
Services will be Sunday at 6 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, with Dr. Claude L. McComas officiating. Burial will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Burbank Cemetery.
Friends may call two hours prior to services, from 4-6 p.m., on Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, in care of Canton Metro Office, 4916 Hills and Dales Road NW, Canton 44708.
He was born April 16, 1941, in Somerset, Pa. to Joseph and Mary (Costic) Lenart.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Layton of Saxton, Pa.; two sons, George A. (Kelli) Lenart of Burbank and Kevin W. (Sherri) Lenart of Glenmont; a daughter, Tammy M. Lenart of West Salem; six grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Lenart of Pennsylvania and his former wife, Christine (Knight) Lenart of Congress.
